When u buy food at chicken republic the vat u paid on the food item is collected by chicken rebulic and remitt to govt on ur behalf.

This is why the USA has the largest consumption of any country in the world cos of a larger GDP. This is why a Switzerland with less than 5million persons has a larger consumption than an Ethiopia with over 80million persons.

What is the GDP of the north compared with the south.

NB: Moreover, you are very wrong that manufacturing industries dont pay VAT. They are actually a massive source of VAT as they buy inputs(raw materials, machineries, etc) to run their industries including importing(a huge chuck of total VAT in the country); just that an input-output tax mechanism is used in the final computations.


Geez. I don type long words this early Monday morning. But i did that to disabuse your mind that there is any excuse or "reason" for the sorry state of the north today in Nigeria. The north has basically "destroyed " its future by perpetuating the "feeding bottle" relationship with the south(resource allocation from Abuja, VAT, low university administration cutoff, Quota system etc). It has made the north(a resource rich region) lazy, impudent and totally bereft of ideas on its own future. I type cos i care about the north. And if you are a northerner yourself, the contradiction and shame should force you to want to change the situation.

With Oyinlola as National Chairman, the party is obviously planning to give its presidential ticket to a northerner. Anyway, it’s left for Nigerians to decide if it is fair and just for Atiku or Tambuwal to take over after Buhari’s eight years presidency.

For me, it’s an anomaly that must never be allowed to happen in the overall interest of Nigeria irrespective of party affiliation. Nigeria is a deeply divided multi ethnic and multi religious country. A single ethnic group should never be allowed to rule for a period of sixteen straight uninterrupted years. Not even in the face of the current terrorism, banditry, criminal herdsmen and violent separatist agitation.

I think you are massively deceiving yourself, and the good thing is that you know that.

If i were a northerner(and sometimes i wish i am), I would be ashamed of our present terrible situation. And that shame would push me to start doing things differently than they have been done so far.

The north, in almost any index is FAR behind the south and almost every part of the world for that matter. The indexes(poverty rate, unemployment rate, illiteracy rate, preventable diseases ratio, terroism index, etc etc) in the north is actually in the same group as war torn countries in the world- i hope you know that.

Again, if i were a northerner i would be pushing the most for a complete change in the way things have been done in the country. I would never accept to perpetually be a "parasite" the way it seems currently.

For what it is worth, i need to commend El rufai for his apparent regard for electoral sanctity. This is the 2nd time i beileve he is allowing the process go freely in LG polls in Kaduna, something NO OTHER Gov has allowed in Nigeria.

I mean i am AFRAID of El rufai and he is the only person i believe would be worse than Buhari(now imagine that) but i have to commend him here

I heard that the "traitor" Gov of Plateau is been isolated by just about anyone in Plateau and that the state assembly is preparing to impeach him if he does not change and protect the people of Plateau against Fulani killer herdsmen. People are very agree in the Plateau i hear.

Note that the majority of the members, including the speaker, in this Plateau House of Assembly are APC, same party as the Gov but most of them are obviously chosing their people over partisan politics. Very commendable.
