rubber, ground nut and palm oil is produced en masse in the delta region no doubt, but it is not in the south east, and ground nut trading was made by the north, do you remember the pyramids in kano?

the south east is overrated and usually stuff like rubber are produced in the delta region, the south east does not produce much apart from stealing much from the delta, i'd say apart from oil the ss and the south east does not produce much on a national scale, for example like without the north nigeria will go hungry, we can live without rubber, oil, nollywood ( what the hell), your imported low quality auto parts that are responsible for most car accidents, tainted medicines, imported low quality clothes etc.

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has stated that the 13 Igbo businessmen gunned down by unidentified killers recently in the commercial town of Mubi, in the state were killed as a result of business conflict. This is contrary to media reports that they were killed by the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The governor said government was still awaiting detailed report from security operatives before releasing the corpses of the 13 Igbo to their families for burial, adding that he stood on his ground as regards N25, 000,000 reward promised any person or group with credible information that would lead to the arrest of the criminals behind the killings.

The governor who spoke through his Press Secretary, Malam Maijama’a Adamu, in a press statement made available to Sunday Mirror said that immediate assumption of government and people generally in the state was that, the barbaric incident which was unprecedented in the history of the state was ethno- religious in nature, which he said led the government to take a proactive measure, by beefing up security across the state to prevent further escalation of the crisis. According to the governor, “Contrary to our initial assumption, however, preliminary investigations revealed that the unfortunate incident was not ethno-religious in nature, but likely due to personal or business conflict.

This is highly regrettable and unacceptable, he claimed. The statement, however, said that the people of Adamawa State condemned in strong terms, “this act of inhumanity has portrayed the state in bad light and affected it socially and economically at both national and international levels, adding that Adamawa State should not be used as a theatre for such heinous crimes. According to the statement, “while regretting the occurrence of this incident, we wish to state categorically that no Adamawa State community is involved in it, and it was neither ethnic nor religious as previously assumed.

However, the statement did not talk on 12 worshippers of Christ Apostle Church who were gunned down by unidentified gunmen; neither did it speak on four bomb explosions reported by the state’s Police Command at the Christmas period. lets be honest, we can't have sharia in nigeria, its not even the will of muslims to have sharia all across nigeria, but sharia in the north has to be more effective than it is, we can't even issue fatwa on terrorism  or organised crime because the state law is above sharia, things have to change

Who should mediate?

As a group Boko Haram has a spiritual leader, Sheikh Imam Abubakar Shekau, a parliament they call the Shura, they also have cells spread across Nigeria and Niger and other places.

Members of the group do not take action without being given directions to do that.

The command is usually given by their council and their spiritual head and for such an organisation that is structured that way, I believe that it is possible to also to sit down with them - and once they agree to a ceasefire you will find it very difficult to see it being broken because they have a leadership structure.

What I know is possible is that there should be an intercession by a third country perhaps like Turkey or Qatar or Saudi Arabia should offer to mediate between the government and Boko Haram.

If that option is not taken then the next option is that certain individuals in the north who have the respect of the Boko Haram should be brought in.

The late leader of Boko Haram was a member of the Spring Council of Sharia in Nigeria - now since all this violence has started no-one from the side of the federal government has approached that body and asked them, could you mediate between us and the Boko Haram group?

All their interests has been is that they want the Sultan [of Sokoto, Nigeria's main Muslim cleric] to intervene - and the Boko Haram have no respect for the sultan.
