naijababe:well said. @sjeezy, pls what is your point? |
In a group, whether as a nation or a people, you are only as strong as your weakest link. So thumbs up BBC for showing to the world how 'great' we claim to be. Giant of African my foot. |
0hsisi:You are not serious. Is this the only contribution you can make? |
Very interesting comments by all, even by those talking about dress sense. The most important thing is that they are all matters we feel concerned about, one way or the other. However, I believe the whole issues that this interview had opened up call for real sober reflection. As some forumites had earlier noted, there is a strong need for our political office holders to start engaging the masses and media in their normal dealings. The time had gone when our leaders isolate themselves from the public and maintain a 'no contact' stance with the press/media. Had our leaders the culture of facing the media to defend their propositions and policies, to answer even simple questions that affects the people they lead, to do more than making press briefings and announcing budgets, then I strongly believe the outcome of the interview would have been different. |
Interesting read. Ojukwu a rare breed. |
PHCN - Please Hold Candle Now; Power Has Corrupted (the) Nation; Please Help Corrupt Nigeria. lmao! Very ingenious! |
@poster, I find it difficult to agree with you, much as I believe that Goodluck Jonathan could have done better in the interview. However my own view will be that he probably was a bit unprepared for the interview and therefore did not give the questions the required level of articulation. He no doubt, appeared a bit nervous as well, but having said this, the sincererity of his answers is what matters most. On the issue of accent, please let us as Nigerians stop putting people down because of their accent. Even English people have accent - go up to north England and the accent is completely different from that of the south, yet you dont hear them make such comments as we experience in Nigeria over this accent or that accent. Please are we now the owners of the language, for heaven sake it is still a second language to us and as far as you are understood, it does not matter how you bloody pronouce any word. If I have to rate Jonathan on his interview performance with Amanpour, I will give him 6.5 out of 10. He was ok and answered the questions he was asked. |
Please poster are you saying you got a loan without knowing what you want to do with it or are you simply taking the piece. Please just return the money when it is still early before you land yourself in some major wahala. |
Abeg, my fellow forumites, please are you guys taking the first post on this tread serious or are we just discussing generally. Why I say this is 'cos the poster is just a big blabber and understands nothing about venture capitalism, just read carefully the example he provided and judge for urself howcome a venture capitalist could reason so incoherently. If you ask me, the guy might have some cash and wants to steal ideas on what investment to go into. |
Guess it can afford a good meal at Mr Biggs. lol! |
Cant think of any mate. You could try the capital market, there are still potential to make decent margins especially as things are begining to improve gradually. Cheers! |
The guys are good - without any doubt the best in Nigeria. Good for them on the award, but I doubt the $1m prize - does not add up. |
This is what we call checks and balances in a society. This is why the western society is where it is today and the exact same reason why the third world nations are where they are as well. The beauty of it all is that you will be held accountable for your actions or inactions. The western society is not as we have in Africa where abuse of all kinds and manner goes un-punished. I personally believe that this should be extended to Nigeria and I mean to every single church (catholic or not) in Nigeria, maybe we can start from there. Anyway God bless the Pope |
Fellow Nairalanders, Please could anyone that knows of a reliable and trustworthy customs registered clearing agent based in Nigeria kindly assist me with the person/company's details. Thank you. namski |
Cooked books and falsified accounts. @dmediator, I understand there are caps on fixed deposit rates in Nigeria now. So you might not get ore than 3-4% p. a. interest. |
You have a point in saying that well meaning Nigerians could have been able to make an impact and that I believe is still possible. However an Ultimatum from these Micky Mouse senators cant just stand up at all, which is why I am wondering what we could have been able to do had the 7 days come to pass. I guess they woke from their slumber to realise that they are nothing but toothless bull dogs. Anyway I strongly believe that some eminent Nigerians could still come together and create an avenue in other to tackle the issue, after all we are still on the list. |
chronique:Chronique, abeg what were you expecting to be the outcome of the ultimatum. Exactly what do you sincerely believe we could hv been able to do? |
webman:GBAM!!! The very worst Information we have ever had in Nigeria |
nasbock:my guy, abeg no pity anybody and Dora Akunyili for that matter. she no fit resign. don't you see honourable ppl like Okonjo Iweala. Dora is obviously power drunk and is now part and parcel of the thieving gangs in Nigeria looting our money. How wrong can you get a combination, Yaradua as President; Akunyili as Info Minister; Ojo Maduekwe as Foreign Affairs Minister. |
Micky Mouse Senators, how easily they chickened out. Mad people - na God go punish all of una. |
who dem bi abeg? anoda bunch of clown acts I presume. |
@hedges007 abeg leave this your Nigeria being the most intelligent black nation in the world. Where do you draw your statistics from? We are the most intelligent yet ruled by goats. |
@airzzee, GBAM! I agree with you intoto. You got the point and that as far as I am concerned is the right thing to be said and done. I am just gladly awaiting what our Micky Mouse Senate will do. What an action!!! Mad people. @Mega Bhros, what a perfect definition of PDP. @honeric 01, I cant say that you stop your exchanges with Mpele. However, think of it and you realise how our image have deteriorated not just in the face of the rest of the world, but also in the face of people we call our own African brothers. We may rant from now till tomorrow, but the fact stares right back in our faces. We have failed as a nation and till we start doing something serious about it, worse days are yet to come. Mpele could refer to us as pitch black apes - whilst racist and should be condemned, dont you at times wonder if apes are not better than us. See how we live, see our leaders, haba. Sorry Nigeria - dont mean to provoke anyone. |
@Uche2nna and ladej, as it is often said at the end of children's tale, the moral of the story is, Nigeria grow up. Harness your potentials, build and develop your capacities, tap your abundant human and natural resources and become an economic and political world force to reckon with. It is still a survival of the fitest!!! |
Wallie:Abeg follow me see o! Infact, it was mentioned today on AIT's Focus Nigeria and men that claim to have credibility were citing it in their argument . Haba!!! |
Our Micky Mouse senate has issued an ultimatum, so let us wait and see what comes out of it. Rubbish!!! Please ma ppl do not be deceived that these idiots are fighting in your favour. They are obviously concerned about their own affairs and the fact that they too or their children will face the airport humiliation on their route to go bank our money they steal. Seriously, I am interested in the diplomatic row the micky mousers will instigate against US. And for all you that think that US needs our crude oil, please wake from your slumber and face reality. We need US purchasing our crude oil more than US needs our crude oil. Our crude reserve is just marginal compared to the world reserve capacity. The only reason why our crude oil might be of importance is owing to its quality, I do not know to what extent we can exert any significant pressure on world crude oil price. Coming back to the point in question, I personally think that the action by US is justified. The question is not about an isolated incident, but about the potential to radicalise. We are Nigerians and we need no one recalling the numerous incidents happening in the north. So this is like the last stroke that broke the camels back as far as the rest of the western world is concerned. |
kayode Gid:Hello, Please could you provide exact dimensions for the 1 acre of land you refer to here. Thanks. |
Megachux, Please kindly provide more details as per Fhemmmy and Lameski. Thanks. |
@Belu, I presume it is the whole building that goes for N7m and not individual flats. Please how old is the building and are you negotiable on the offer price? Thanks. |
All of them na the same. |
@Poster, I can see that your situation has now graduated from simple craze to outright schizoprenia. Better go see doctor o! |
