Hi

Go for the 47" as its easily available for parts and screen too. Thanks
Ok thanks, I saw a thread where a customer made a complaint & saw the shabby way it was resolved. its making me have a rethink. Pls what are your terms & condition

1. What Happens When Tv's come defective either with lines or flickering pictures or not coming on

Who will be responsible for repairs?

2.What's ur warranty period, if a product become defective after 2weeks or 2months, what hapens

3. What's the cost of delivery to benin city for this 47" Explain your options

3a. You made mentioned on this thread of how you got no payment from the courier service for a defective payment despite being insured. Why was this? What then is the essence of insurance

4.How do you currently package ur products?

It's not enough to send pictures of TV's in carton, send pictures of the TV before putting it in the carton, let's see how it is well protected

Expecting answers, pls don't refer me to a private chat or call, will appreciate answers here. I will appreciate you provide answers clearly according to how it was itemized here, you didnt answer my last question as to whether the Tv was looking clean

THANKS

Good morning

The 42LB550 is 100k and its not outdated. The logic behind this discontinued statement is that, once the year runs out the product won't be produced again but the spare parts is rampant all over the tokunbo market.

The 49" is 140k ma. Thanks
Ok so which will you advise I go for btw

1. 42lb550-100k

2.47ln5400-110k

Considering the screen size & not so large price difference?

Hope they are looking clean

140k is out of my budget, how much does the 42LB550 go for?

Guess your 140k quote is for 49LB550

Both the 42 & 47Ln5400 are discontinued product, does this have any implication

What nonsense, no wonder we so backward
I saw on CNN just on Christmas day how an American hockey player was about leaving and a 10 year old girl asked him for his hockey stick and he gave it to her without thinking twice.
She went to online and posted pictures of the hockey stick and called it the best Christmas gift everr.
The emphasis of your write-up bothers on location & prevailing mentality there.

if I may ask how many times have you heard in America, that an individual was bewitched or attacked spiritually?

It happens but its not so common

witchcraft, sorcery, dark magic had its place in the developed world but most of the practice was lost due to clamp down of such practices over the years & the propagation of the gospel.

so you find individuals that are 4th,5th generation as christains or same as atheists who neither believe in God or demon

so if majority of folks are from a long line of christains or atheists, who then will indulge in demonic pratices? meaning you will have fewer folks practicing evil or dark magic

OVER HERE IN NIGERIA/AFRICA
we have 5th,10th generation idol worshipper who have continued the hand down tradition of idol worship

or 1st generation christains who aren't well grounded in the faith hence the prevailing evil activities in this region.

there is no continuity in developed nation's while there is for this region.

finally, when you are in Rome, wisdom dictates that you act as a Roman

In dubai, the moment a pedestran steps unto the zebra crossing, regardless of the vehicular movement, it all comes to a halt

pls come try it in Nigeria, worst case scenerio you explain to ur maker the events that transpired or ur legs hung up on the hospital bed

the Dubai - Nigeria scenario can be likened to your American hockey scenario

CareerRe: Let's Talk Pensions! Accurate Solution To All Issues With Your Pfas by nannymcphee(f):
chidamysy:
Hello, Nannymcphee

1. 8% monthly, which is being deducted from your Basic,Housing,Transport on a monthly basis. With the figures you have here, Your deductible pension is N6400.

2.To seek redress, you need to have a form of evidence to ascertian that the deductions where wrongly computed. You need to have a payslip for the stated periods you find the shortage. Then you can seek advice from your PFA. They have Relationship Mangers to follow up with your employers on your behalf

3. What was stated on your employment letter, was your offer pensionable from day one?, If your employer did not make any deductions from your end, then am afraid they wont remit, The reason is this, Pension is a contribution between the employer and the employee. Since the Employer did not make any form of deductions from your Salary, then they can state that your role as at that time is not Pensionable(You can also check your payslip for those period to ascertain this).

Let me know if you still need further clarifications.
Wow, thanks

What was the big deal about the calculation that they refused to reveal this to us.(I had written to admin dept)

1.I thought the 2014 pensiom act says it should be 8% of one's emolument?

Emolument in the 2014 act means

"Total emolument as defined in the employee’s contract of employment provided it is not less than the total of the employee’s basic salary, housing and transport allowance"

So why are companies just sticking to basic, housing & transport? I guess it's a way of reducing what they ought to contribute

So how do I go about ensuring that other emoluments are deducted?

2.my offer letter till date doesn't mention pension but money is being deducted & my RSA Is being funded

Offer letter or not, I thought the pension act makes it compulsory for all employers to make deductions

So if my company denied me the opportunity to save towards my pension, aren't they liable? At least to pay their own contribution since they allowed me to "eat" my part for those period deductions werent made?

3.what's the channel of laying complaints to PENCOM

How often do you check your RSA statements?

Don't just see your pension deducted from your salary, start monitoring your retirement from now. grin grin
1.Please the 8% prescribed by the pension act, how is it calculated? is it total take home after tax or its calculated from the basic or what?

assuming this were to be my payslip, how will you calculate my pension

basic salary-50,000
housing-20,000
transport-10,000
meal subsidy-5,000
utility-5,000
medical-10,000

outstation allowance-15,000
feeding incentive-20,000

lets assume take home after tax to be 127,000

what will be my pension?

2.if its discovered that my deductions over the months have been wrongly computed, how do i seek redress?

3. I have been working with this firm since 2010, no pension deductions were made until 2013.

can the company be made to pay their own contribution(employers contribution) from 2010-2013?

I know it might be argued that since it wasnt deducted from my pay, technically i was paid my pension but what about their own part?

I feel aggrieved because they have robbed of the opportunity to have, had some good savings(2010-2013)

Christianity EtcRe: The type of wedding ceremony most acceptable by GOD. by nannymcphee(f): 11:05pm On Jan 24, 2016
@Toks2008

The reason Jacobs "dowry" wasn't voluntary was because Laban was satisfied with the terms, if he wasn't he would have stated his own price or terms, if this where to be the case, will you still termit voluntary?

Jacob made a good bargain for what he wanted for a knew a price must be paid, in Abraham's case, he also knew a price must be paid & gave those things to his servant to present

The dowry is symbolic, doesn't really lie in the price. When Ruth was to be given to boaz, all that was done was for sandals to be exchanged & that was all that was needed & required. If Ruth had moved in with boaz all because boaz set in his mind to leave his "father & mother" , that wouldn't have been proper or recognized by God (Ruth 4:7-12)
Christianity EtcRe: The type of wedding ceremony most acceptable by GOD. by nannymcphee(f): 10:40pm On Jan 24, 2016
Toks2008:
It is so amazing how people read the Bible out of context.

We have two types of bride price in the bible.

1.The penalty for rape.

Exodus 22:16-17 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride price for her and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride price for virgins."

2. Voluntary Bride price: This was the type Abraham gave to Rebekah and her mum and family and also the type Jacob offered as service and in these two cases, none was made mandatory but was pure voluntary decision of the groom.

Genesis 24:53 Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother.

Genesis 29:18 Jacob loved Rachel. And he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel

If we look deeply we will see that voluntary giftd by the groom to be is more biblical and not the practice of today where the father of bride makes list of items but nevertheless as people guided by tradition and culture,we must adhere to them but by so doing,we must draw a line between GOD's injunction and man made practices.
1 Samuel 18
22 And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Commune with David secretly, and say, Behold, the king hath delight in thee, and all his servants love thee: now therefore be the king's son in law
23 And Saul's servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be a king's son in law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?
24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner spake David.
25 And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines

There are other verses that talks about dowry, there is nothing like voluntary dowry!! the Old Testament was centered on the Jewish custom. dowry coupled with the consent of the father is what constitutes marriage

The father of the bride can choose to waive the dowry or ask for something else in lieu as evident in the verse above

christains are to be under authority, so why do you think God will bless a man who wakes one morning moves, in with a woman without father's consent or pastors consent or legal consent?(all these are various authorities)

God respects our customs & traditions so long as it doesn't violate his word.

the African culture dictates payment of dowry & consent of the father. That's why during the white wedding:this question is asked "who gives out this bride?"
Christianity EtcRe: How Biblical Is Church Wedding? by nannymcphee(f): 1:10pm On Dec 06, 2015
TruthHurts1:
Apart from opening yourself to criticism, you've shown yourself up to be very stupid too. There are so many references to marriage in the Bible:

Mark 10 VS 8 to 9; 1 Corinthians 7:1 - 7:40 - Ephesians 5:22 -
5:33 - Ephesians 5:25 - 5:33

Just to mention a few.

Secondly, you're confusing "wedding" with "marriage". Wedding is a ceremony, marriage is an institution.
The Bible laid down the template of a Christian marriage as the voluntary union of a man and woman for the rest of their lives. What manner of ceremony they choose in solemnising their union does not matter as long as the SUBSTANCE of the union complies with Biblical standards.
I sense you are not a Christian and that may account for your ignorance. And if indeed you call yourself a Christian, it is possible you may be living a lie. Read the Bible well before disparaging it, or God's wrath will abide on you.
I'm trying to fathom why you are insulting the OP!!
the verses you cited doesn't saying anything about "church wedding" which the OP is talking about!!

In the bible I can't recall any wedding taking place in the synagogue, marriages where done between both families & the bible is replete with several examples.

Even in the New Testament you don't find any wedding taking place in a "church" or assembly of believers

marriage in the bible was between families, one important factor was the fathers consent in giving out his daughter.

so can you cite a bible verse that

1.Shows a priest/pastor joining a couple
2.Shows a wedding taking place in a synagogue or assembly of believers
3.Gives guidelines on how to conduct a Christian wedding

Thanks

Bennydballs

Here is a list of Android devices that fall around N50,000.

Samsung Galaxy E5 – The Samsung Galaxy E5 is a 5.0 inch device with a very good display (Super AMOLED capacitive display) with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 to protect your screen from scratches and cracks. The Galaxy E5 has a sleek unibody design with metal running around its sides. However, the rest of the body is plastic. This device runs on Android KitKat and comes with a 16 GB internal memory that is expandable to 64 GB. Its RAM is 1.5 GB, which is fair but not good enough if you are a heavy app user. It has an 8 MP camera at the back and a 5 MP camera in front that takes very clear pictures. And it has a fairly good battery life with its non-removable (this means you cannot take out the battery) 2400 mAh battery. This phones costs N43,000.

Samsung Galaxy A3 – If small devices are your thing, then you should pay attention to this one. The Samsung Galaxy A3 is a very sleek device with a full metal unibody. It is 6.9 mm slim and comes with a 4.5 inches screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. The display is very vibrant as it comes with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. This device comes with Android KitKit and is upgradable to Android Lollipop. Internal memory for this device is 16 GB and is expandable to 64 GB. RAM for this device is 1.5 GB which is manageable. The Galaxy A3 has an 8 MP camera behind and a 5 MP camera in front capable of taking wide-angled selfies. The 1900 mAh battery of this device is non-removable and can last up to 12 hours with heavy usage. There is a power saving mode that can let your device last for up to four days if activated – although it only allows for basic phone functions such as calls and texting. I should also add that this device comes in two variants; the single SIM version and the Duos version. The Duos version lacks LTE and NFC and only comes with two slots. Normally, since it is a dual SIM device, it should come with three slots; one for a microSD card and the other two for SIM cards. What Samsung chose to do was to provide only two slots; one for your first SIM card, and the other for either your second SIM card or your microSD card. You cannot use the second slot for both your SIM card and microSD at the same time. That’s not so good. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy A3 is a chic device and costs N48,000. One more thing, it looks very pretty in gold. [There is a Samsung Galaxy A5 that falls exactly in line with all the requirements you listed; 2 GB RAM, 5.0 inch screen, 13 MP camera and 4G LTE. But it costs higher than N50,000 (around N65,000).]

HTC Desire 626G+ – The HTC Desire 626G+ is 8.3 mm slim and has dual SIM capabilities. Its screen is 5.0 inches and its display is average. You have Android KitKat and an internal memory of 8 GB that is expandable to 32 GB. RAM for this device is pretty small at 1 GB. The primary camera however is massive at 13 MP and a 5 MP front-facing camera. The battery is 2000 mAh which might not live up to your expectations, but that has always been one of HTC’s major problems. If you can live with a good power bank, you shouldn’t have a problem. The saving grace for this device is its CPU – an Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex – A53 – higher than the CPUs of the other devices.. This device costs N49,000. You might also want to check out HTC Desire 626 which is quite similar.

HTC Desire 816 – Although this phone comes with a 1.5 GB RAM, it has all the features you look for in a phone. It has a screen size of 5.5 inches with a Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen, a 13 MP back camera that takes clear pictures and a 5 MP front-facing camera. It has an 8 MP internal memory capable of being expanded into 128 GB with the use of a memory card. It comes with Android KitKat and a 2600 mAh battery. It costs around N51,000.

Sony Xperia C3 – If you want a phone with a very good battery and a very good camera, this phone has it. It has an 8 MP secondary camera with LED flash behind, and a 5 MP camera with its own LED flash in front; basically you can take very bright selfies even when it’s dark. Internal memory is at 8 GB but can be expanded to 32 GB. Display is not bad and screen size is 5.5 inches. The RAM is the one thing you might not like; it stands at 1 GB. If you don’t mind though, this device is eligible for a Lollipop upgrade and costs N55,000.

You said your friend recommended Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. Well here is something about it.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime – This is an 8.6 mm phone with Dual SIM capabilities. It has a 5.0 inch screen and TFT capacitive display. One of the downside of TFT capacitive displays is they usually take a toll on your battery. The screen of the Galaxy Grand Prime doesn’t have any protection, meaning they easily get scratched and cracked. The display of this device isn’t all that bright, but you aren’t likely to notice if that isn’t your main concern. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime comes with Android KitKat and a fairly good processor. Its internal memory is just 8 GB which is expandable to 64 GB with the use of a memory card. The RAM is just 1 GB which can be very small for someone who enjoys using heavy apps such games. If you are not a heavy app user, you can live with that. The camera for this device is superb. It has an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP selfie camera in front. With 2600mAh, battery power for this device is average. This device costs just N35,000, and for the price, the features are okay.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
pls what model will you recommend price range:30-35k
phone intended to be used primarily for browsing /chatting
not a camera freak but will appreciate something good
occasional gaming
I need 4.7-5.0" screensize
good battery life too

thanks

And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Question: for the man or woman who violates this scripture, can it be said that:

1.they committed adultery

or

they are in a state of adultery

i.e
by remarrying is it just viewed as a one time act of adultery that could be forgiven if forgiveness is sought or God forever views the new union as an adulterous one(so long as they remain together, it can be said they are living in adultery)

Stillfire:
I'm glad you highlighted Queen Victoria on how it became the so called norm.
The allegory when interpreted here is the church as the bride and Jesus as the groom. It does not translate into you must wear white on your wedding day.
We should stop reducing christianity to petty doctrines that do not have any emphasis on the soul of the individual.
With all due respect I didn't say that, tht verse translates to "you must wear white"

I only told you that the Christian wedding can be likened to the marriage supper of the lamp and if it can be likened to it, then the Christian should wear white since that what's the bride(the church was clothed in)

It's not a commandment!! A Christian can choose whatever she wants to wear but as a Christian, it's a good practice to wear what has been patterned in the bible. If you wear fine, if u don't wear fine

we are talking about purity & chastity & what not, do you consider a virgin(male or female) who is a murderer or backbitter or walks in envy & bitterness as "pure" or "chaste"

The most important thing is the state of ones heart & that's what God looks at regardless of whether she put on white or black
FamilyRe: Why Do Non-virgin WOMEN Wear WHITE Wedding Dresses? by nannymcphee(f): 7:50am On Jul 07, 2015
Stillfire:
Where is it in your bible to wear white? You want to kill yourself over a borrowed culture?
Rev 19:7-8
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God

the above verse is talking about the marriage supper of the lamp where the bride(the church) will be presented to Christ

So the Christian wedding is an allegory of this marriage supper of the lamp.

That's why Ephesians 5:22-24 likened the man to Christ when it's was talking about headship.

That being said, early Christian marriages & secular marriages attire was ones "best attire" it was only the elites that could afford white material because of the high cost of purchase & maintenance

White became popular & the norm when Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1840.

I didn't want to quote your entire write up.

He works with a construction company, its actually an epic firm( engineering, procurement, installation & commissioning)

they are building a facility for shell, I think a flow station. it's an ONshore projenct, not offshore but it's in a remote location

So it's not about another wife or girlfriend or bad one for that matter.

For this 5weeks, all he gets is his basic salary plus daily feeding allowance. No insurance nothing nothing.

I think the workers have protested before, they have no union & certain personnels were sacked

Shell couldnt do anything about it since that bothered on the company policy (I don't want to mention the name). That's the explanation shell gave, am sure those guys were compromised

but I know that most construction companies handling various jobs for shell, chevron etc maximum I have heard of is 3wks in, 1week out

So is there any law regulating this or at least that states that if you keep people more than usual, you will have to compensate them
CareerRe: Offshore Oil Worker, lets Meet Here by nannymcphee(f): 6:11pm On Jun 24, 2015
Hello house, pls I wanted to know if there are any laws governing how long someone will stay offshore, creek etc

I ask because of my friends husband, he works in an onshore location in one of those remote creeks, he works for 5weeks on & only has 3days as off

Some other companies in that location works for 28days on including Sundays and has only 4days as off

Just imagine leaving your wife & kids for 5 solid weeks just to spend 3days with them!! It's not as though the pay is big o

So are there laws governing this, it's a shell project & he works for one of the contractors
the spdc inspectors do 2wks on 2wks off.

When I watched the incident on CNN ysday I was so disturbed by the act of the police. Its totally unprofessional and a display of hatred towards blacks. There was no lesson to be learnt from the whole scenario, as his action was a total shame to the police and the uniform. He should not be resigning alone, he should be locked up.
Pls where do you reside? Nigeria or abroad

for those living in Nigeria, there are lessons to be learnt because we experience events that are worse than that of the video on a daily basis(will search out some links here for you to read & watch)

Nigerians can draw lessons from the fact that there was a public reaction & protest with positive results

here in Nigeria, folks will be scared to protest even if do they won't get enough supporters

the news media might not pick up on it as opposed to this case where both major & local media picked up on it

there was a good online response & interactions-here within a few days the thread has died down with no actionable result(there are exceptions though)

Unaffected Nigerians will assume an I don't care attitude of "it's not my child what's my business either because they don't really care or because cant feel empathic enough or out of fear, have you heard of "I NOR FOLLOW" the minimum amount of this is N5,000 in some cases N10,000

I NOR FOLLOW-this is a colloquial expression that means "I'm innocent or I know nothing about the matter or I wasn't there when the incident occurred"

A situation where a police makes an arrest of an individual or individuals who are innocent of the crime itself, either a bystander or someone who isn't connected to the case at all eg there was a robbery or traffic accident & the police showups after 30mins-1hr, to arrest all those within the vicinity knowing fully well that the perpetuators must have fled

So at that point when you tell the policeman that you just passing by or know nothing about it, you will be told to explain that at the police station, on getting there your defense will definitely be "I NOR FOLLOW" they know you are truly innocent but you must pay that unofficial fine.

back to the last point on Nigerians feeling unconcerned, here is a quote by two of the protestesters

“It may not be Baltimore but folks are going to come out and protest when it’s blatantly wrong,” said Hillis Davis, a 52-year-old from the nearby city of Frisco.

Elbert Denkins, a 44-year-old who works for the US navy, said he came “to support my neighbourhood and everybody who’s involved with it because it’s happening everywhere, it
needs to stop”.

Nigerians can learn from this, an individual had to travel from another city just to join his voice to the cry, the other individual who has navy "connection" didn't stay at his navy base or where ever he stays he also joined the protest

We need to get to this level of oneness & concern

These are the lessons we as citizens of Nigeria need to Learn from the Texas pool incident and as for the Nigerian police force, that has been dealt with in the original post

Thanks

I just have a few questions...

@ishilove, please why isn't this thread on the front page?

@bigass, with respect to your your statement above, can you please tell us were this law is written? There have been Nigerian policemen fired in the past based solely on videos taken by civilians of them taking or demanding bribes, and none of the owners of the videos were ever procecuted by the police force for "breaking the law".
Pls what does it take for a thread to be front page material? Can you point me to an official thread that talks about that
