for those that keep insisting that tithing & firstfruit is valid because the work of God must be sponsored & ministers should be supported too, bear in mind that there are direct scriptures in the NT that tells us how to do such

I'll kindly list some, but notice that they were in no way called tithe or first fruit

Galatians 6:6
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

1corin9:11
If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

1corin9:13
13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

1 Timothy 5:18
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

These verse teaches us as Christians to give to ministers but does not in any way label it tithe or first fruit.





Giving for the Christian is summarized in the verse below

2corin9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

the scripture tells us about Christians who sold lands/houses voluntarily & gave to the apostles, interestingly it wasn't to sponsor the work of God but to share among the needy in their midst

Acts 4:34
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

I haven't heard of the present day Christian who sold his land or house for the needy in the church rather what you have is the Christian who sells his property for one church building or program!! God help Us

Firstly your calculations are flawed, assuming you are correct about 150millions copies being produced, you will be wrong about 150million copies distributed because I wrote earlier on that there are lots of cartons of undistributed rhapsodies gathering dust in so many churches.
I know this because this has been the norm since its inception and I have seen it with my eyes in different churches in different states

GIDEONS go around to churches and speak, most Baptists churches have the Gideons there once a year or more and the churches make donations or pledges to help buy bibles for that purpose. Some private individuals give to them yearly as well...when a person donates they can determine where they want the bibles placed, they can be for soldiers (green testaments) or the Red testaments that they hand out at schools.
Everyone here knows that for every free thing that is being distributed has been paid by someone. Even if an NGO gives out drugs for free, we all know they sourced for funds from donors!!
That being said, do you find the Gideon’s cajoling, forcing, threatening those Baptist churches to part with their funds?

The 150million copies that was printed, had a large number undistributed, if the amount of the undistributed copies were saved and channeled to CSR, that will be financial prudence
How will such funds be saved? by never printing those excess in the first place, questions like, how many person are really reading this but pastors will never do this, they keep giving large numbers just to hit targets.
So every year the target number of copies will keep increasing, while a large chunk will go undistributed. The cycle goes on.
Abeg there certain things I cant say here, it will be too revealing

Another case is the millions we spend on publizing ministry programs, if pastor is going to Abuja, word of mouth alone is enough, that venue will still be packed out, yet we still spend millions on the publicity, street storm, costumes, trucks, flyers, helicopters in distributing flyers, banners, jingles, radio advert, tv adverts etc cant these things be done in moderation and the balance monies channeled to other things
Jesus pulled crowds in his time without the present day publicity tools, how did he do it? How come ours is different?

What happened to an appeal, a minister who list's these activities before the brethren & tells them to give for it as they propose in their heart will have those things done

The reason most people tithe is because of the fear factor!! Take that away, no one will pay tithe

Did Paul not have ministry needs? How did he meet them?

In Pauline epistles, what we have are collections for the poor & free will giving's, none was commanded or mandated.

I keep asking if tithe is as important as it is being preached, why can't you find a direct scripture telling Christians to tithe? After all Paul was very knowledgeable in the law

You need to go read the Midas touch, if not the whole book, but the chapter he talked about maintaining a balance in teaching Gods words, showing the two extremes on doctrines/teachings of Gods word & how certain extremities are helpful

Just as Gombs said, most of you haven't done. Proper study on the minister's you critize, you havent listened to his messages over time for you to know the thrusts of his message or what he stands for, you simply base your talk on excerpts from his teaching or what people are saying & that is so so wrong

Just like Father Abraham told Lazarus, if they wouldnt pay attention now or take notice of the warnings now "writing the book, pastoring the church, preaching the gospel the way it ought to be preached... then come tell us to learn from you" would have no benefit
If any WOFers had written the above, you will send them to the gallows & embark on another epistle on how they twist scripture to their advantage

but I'm not surprised, my stand still remains we know in parts & we'll should recognize & respect that

I'll believe everyone here has the Holy Spirit(I know u might disagree-no qualms) & even at that we have had major/minor disagreement on Gods word, a book authored by the same spirit that leaves in us

The question becomes why? Why the disagreement if truly the same spirit?

so long as we all are at different level of walk & relationship with him, we all will continue to see things differently. The earlier you embrace this, the better
