Travel / Response To A Nairalander's UK Japa Experience. by Nanorest: 1:00am On Nov 02, 2023 |
This is a response to fullclub. First of all, I am not a fan of UK or any other European or American Hustle. I am here to hustle and make money. The op said there is no job which is a big lie. I think he is being sponsored and there is no way he spent 35m on this trip and will still be owing 9000 pounds. All the new comers I know that moved in recently are all working be it student or dependant. Most are studying masters and no one spent up to that amount. All used indeed for job search and they are employed. Some are doing two jobs sef. To the house issue, all are also in their own rented apartments except couples who find it hard to get apartment but best thing is to look for others and team up to rent full apartment which is even cheaper. Everything the OP said is 100% false. I even know of companies that don't require your application. Just put a call through and they start disturbing you for immediate start. Lastly, about the tax system in the UK, most Nigerians are using it as a cover up. After tax, there's still a lot to cover your feeding, accommodation, transport with a lot of change even upto 1k to 2k pounds depending on your pay. I am talking about factory workers who are the least earners in the UK. The only thing I will advice, if you are coming here to hustle, invest your money home as this country is not for long term stay to me. Forget what you hear on social media, there is enough Jobs here but don't come here if you are earning about 500k after expenses in Nigeria because it will be like downgrade to you. 10 Likes |

Can you relocate for instant job? I will just give you the number and you start work straight away. The only thing you need to pass is if you can lift something up to 30kg. If you can't, that means you are looking for soft work which you will not see. But one thing mostly is that those who have made it should go back home and set up a business so that it will go back to COVID era when people where begging you to come work for them. 1 Like |

Travel / My Take On Life In The UK by Nanorest: 1:19pm On Oct 29, 2023 |
I don't know how people prefer the life here over the one in Nigeria. I think it's just a defence on the syndrome using something like security, good life and others but I am not part of them. My goal is to make money here and establish myself in Nigeria. I prefer an insecure Nigeria to a secure UK provided there is money. Let's stop deceiving ourselves. Our main motive here is to make money not that we enjoy life here. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

Politics / FG Rebuilds Haiti Collapsed School by Nanorest: 3:43pm On Sep 17, 2023 |
As part of efforts to strengthen existing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Haiti, the federal government has completed the construction of Benoit Batraville High School located in Saut-D’eau, Haiti. The project was Nigeria’s response to calls for assistance from Haiti following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country in 2010. The project was supported by well-meaning Nigerians and the Red Cross Society. The project, which was earlier suspended in 2015 due to unforeseen circumstances, was rejuvenated by the Nigerian Government through its High Commission in Jamaica that is concurrently accredited to Haiti in 2022. Upon satisfying due process requirements, the Mission awarded the contract to a Jamaican-based Benson Construction Company. Consequently, the project began in February in spite of numerous challenges including insecurity, and it was completed in August. The building was handed over to the Haitian Authorities on August 29 amidst excitement while the handover ceremony was graced physically and virtually by top government functionaries of both countries. In attendance was Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica with concurrent accreditation to Haiti, Dominican Republic and Belize; Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, Minister of Education Haiti; Mr. Nesmy Manigat, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Haiti, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs Haiti; Mr. Azad Belfort, as well as senior government officials from Haiti In her remark, Ambassador Tamuno applauded the bilateral relations between both countries and expressed delight at the delivery of the project. She was categorically grateful to God for seeing her team through. She also used the occasion to thank the President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his Renewed Hope Agenda and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. Tamuno also thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar and his Haitian counterpart, Monsieur Jean Victor Geneus. Others are Nesmy Manigat, Minister of Education, Haiti and the Municipal Council of Saut-D’eau for their support and cooperation towards the timely and successful completion of the project. She further enjoined the students and teachers to make good use of the edifice delivered to them while expressing her willingness to revisit Haiti soon. Nigerian top diplomat, used the opportunity to advocate and urge stakeholders, most especially the United Nations, to assist with returning normalcy to Haiti. The Haiti officials applauded the Nigerian Government for the landmark project, stressing that without the government of Nigeria, it would have been impossible to achieve such a goal. 1 Like |
