jswitch:Cheers, mate. Godspeed to we both |
tellsblinks:I mean total income (allowee + ppa) serving in Lagos as mentioned by the Op. He said some PPA pay as high as 45-70k range. And as for the comparison between Osun and Lagos, I meant in terms of earning via full time hustle, not as a corps member. |
The day I stepped into NYSC camp, Ede, Osun state, I said nothing like redeployment for me. I don't know about other folks but Osun state is a place I'd love to serve if given the opportunity to serve again. Op, please, Lagos has opportunities but stress won't make you enjoy your service in Lagos. Lagos is too crowded and expensive. You may not get to enjoy your money no matter how hard you try to save. Osun state pays 5k alright, but the security, good road network, constant electricity, cheap transport and accommodation will make it worthwhile. During my service year, I was able to save up to 65% of my total income in a month (allowee + side hustle). Clean selfcon is 50-70k in Osogbo, Single room with good toilet is 24k. I don't see why you earn close to 100k in a month yet stress and high cost of living won't even make you see the money you are earning. Better to earn 80k in Osogbo than earn 150k in Lagos or Akwa Ibom. Fact |
Clint2k7:Same here, bro. In fact I said I wasn't gonna go but decided to seek advice from my folks and they all convinced me to go. My brother said I should give it a try, and it's better to try and experience it than asking myself "what if" later on |
Clint2k7:Good to know. As for my plans, I have to admit; I'm so unprepared for this but I'll put in my best. I got the notice late, had to change business plan just to meet up. I know it will be worth it in the end |
jswitch:Mine is Immigration service |

zeratehk:I still have the copy of my registration mail containing my ID, and I have confirmed my location. Please, what are the necessary documents needed for the test? because I'm going to owerri from lagos and I don't want any sad story. Please reply ASAP |
SaintAY:I just don't get it. I thought we were asked to fill our preferred choice of location, so why are they giving us a different location for the test. I just got mine few hours ago and I'm supposed to be in Owerri before Monday while I'm currently in Lagos. This dilemma is out of this world for me |
Octopusbottle:Hello. I got mine early this morning and when I tried to open it, I discovered it was blank with a '?' sign. What do this mean please? |
Hello, house. I got an email this morning from The Nigerian Immigration Service but when I clicked on the message to open it, it was blank, there was no content inside, I clicked 'back' and discovered my gmail had a '?' sign, like an error or something. Who else experienced this and what can be done to rectify it? |
XXLDICK:Please, fill me in. What am I missing out on? |
toys2seven:Yeah, on Ps3. I just have to finish this one game before I move to the next. Tired of abandoning games for no reason. This is why I don't like to download more than 3 games at a go. Makes you lose interest quickly. |
Mine is OOP in PHP, I started learning with Procedural and got a good grasp of it and finally settled with it only for the youtuber (Daniel Krossing a.k.a MMTuts) to bring out another series for OOP, for Pete's sake,I was confused AF. I relayed my issue with a guy on a programmers'/coding forum and he advised me to stick to the one I understand best but from the little I have heard, most interviewers deal with OOP when it comes to employing because it is much more secure, easier to split with colleagues and makes your code neat. Another issue is I'm currently battling with and denying myself is JavaScript; I abandoned it before I started, and switched to JQuery. Trying to be a "full stacker" ain't easy mehn. But I won't give up on JS just yet |
Currently Playing Dante's Inferno. It has this God of War feeling; more like a copy and paste with a few editing here and there. Ain't gonna lie though, after few minutes of play, I started to enjoy it. |
Omoluabi anthem, Salute!! Osun state was fun though. I can see Mrs Okundaye, Mrs Otemuyima, Valentine (current Editor, Editorial CDS), and Chinenye(current News Editor, Editorial CDS) |
Holla911:What other accessories comes with it? Drop your number let's talk. |
I was fortunate to serve in Osun state, the land of the Omoluabis and I enjoyed every bit of my stay there. 2019 Batch C-II. My PPA gave me accommodation, my house is next to the office. I can wear my shorts to open the office for the day, and go back to have my bath and breakfast. The grandma in my compound gave me food regularly, so I had no lack whatsoever. I learnt printing and customizing, graphics designs and web design/development, so 65% of my allowee was going straight into my savings/investment account. I'm fresh out of service and in need of a Web development tech company where I can intern or work for stipends just for transport. My location is Lagos. Someone should please tell someone. Thank you ![]() |
Op, take it easy abeg. Thank goodness I listened to my heart. I just took 8 copies of passport, photocopied all my necessary documents, 3 copies of each. Got myself two durable power banks, original oriamo chargers. Charged my power banks during the day at OBS station. Only skipped beans when it's time to eat. My 11 months of service was superb. I don't know about other folks but NYSC is a very good scheme. |
Davy950:Just like the dude above me stated; the price and location? What are the 'loaded' games? |
Youngsenate1993:It's quite easy actually. How good are you with colours, generating design concepts? Not everyone has that eye for designs. I'm self-taught. I used YouTube to learn and practice. Just take time out to watch YouTube video tutorials on either Photoshop (preferred choice) or Corel Draw. With determination and consistency you'll get there. |
Dear Op, please try your best to learn a good skill, do it for free when you start then you start charging tokens to build trust and customer base. I was fortunate to serve in Osun state and till date I don't regret it one bit. I was a graphics designer in OBS, so I was rewarded with a Printing Press as my PPA, I truly improved on my book cover designs flyer designs and many more while I was with them. While in camp, I joined printing and customizing (SAED program). I was very committed and focused, my trainers were given the contract to print and customize shirts for about 5 platoons at the rate of N500 per person (yes it ran into more than a thousand in just 4 days), and of course I was given my share. After camp I continued my training, I was printing shirts for almost free for different corps members and CDS groups, then I started charging them tokens. I made quite a good amount of money but not good enough because no amount of money is enough in this part of the world. While training, I was also going online to learn web design / development, so I could have more than 3 skills to fall back on after service. Lastly, stay away from women and partying. It was until after my POP that I decided to keep a specific amount of money aside, for flexing and telling myself "well done, you deserve two plates of pepper soup with chilled bottles of Orijin" I decided to leave Osun because of my family business I'm involved in and of course which I intend to expand massively. Osun is cheap in terms of accommodation, very peaceful and safe, good road network and the light is very very stable. Check my signature please. Thank you |
What you guys see as cheap may mean something different to the females. There are females who just want to sleep with you but will use something flimsy in order to get down with you. You guys make it look like a big achievement when you get into a girl's panties. Truth is, you guys are also cheap as well. I just don't understand some Nairaland guys. |
randomShek:Ok. How much? |
randomShek:Is this X600? it looks totally different from mine. I'd like to buy the phone from you, actually, just the screen is what I need. Coconut oil poured on mine and damaged the screen totally. Now seeing this phone again, I think I'd like to fix it |
The lady should have at least taken a little information from him, no matter how little. I once bought a phone from a guy who needed money to settle something urgent, I took a look at the features of the phone and I liked it, so I kept going through any file I could possibly get. I got hold of his email, contact list and some selfies he took and had to screenshot them and sent them to my main phone (without his knowledge) as evidence, since he said he couldn't find the receipt of the phone. I had enough proof, so I sent him the money. Always be careful and one step ahead in situations like these. |
Lol. Quite an interesting topic. My first day of lecture, can't really recall what happened but it wasn't really fun for me. We were just about 85 students admitted because the school was facing some disciplinary court case because they admit students in thousands, I mean thousands. As weeks rolled by, I began to to get more acquainted with my colleagues. I had an issue with the prettiest girl in class because I refused to open my sheet for her to copy. All these girls that just have nothing meaningful to offer asides their face. I told her to her face, "Please, read your books. I can't burn the proverbial midnight candle only for you to come and start pleading with me to open my answer booklet for you". We never spoke till I left the polytechnic and transferred to a federal university through direct entry |
I hope to dance like this come November/December this year. Potential employers out there, please I'll be rounding up my service by November 2020, put a smile on my face and make me dance better than she did with a job. I am a skilled web designer, a backend (php) programmer, graphics designer, also skilled in screen printing and T-shirt branding. Surprise me with a job offer or as an intern in any tech hub. Thank you ![]() |
chatinent:Funny, yeah? But I have come to notice most of these guys don't know how to hold a weapon. They most times hold it too close to your head or back. Anyway, you don't get it though. But when it is just a guy trying to rob you, you understand the need |
I sorta experienced one in my final year in school. Immediately after my project defense, I travelled to go see my Uncle and at the same time fill my pocket with small cash. I spent two days and headed back to school with my mission accomplished. I got back to school on a Friday evening, I was tired and didn't have time to unpack. I met my roommie with some other neighbours in my room watching a movie, so I had to collect the keys to another of my neighbour's room so I can continue my web dev tutorials with no disturbance. After few minutes of watching and practicing, I dozed off and was awoken by a gun shot from the neighbour's room, I immediately knew robbers were in the lodge, because they mostly come after semester exams, when most students must have gone home, leaving mostly the final years doing their project, and many of them have laptops. I quickly went to bolt the door and switched off the light but my slippers in front of the door outside gave me away when they came to bang on my door. They kept on banging and banging, and one of 'em said "So you no wan open the door abi. If I break down this door, I go blow you shots". I started confessing my sins and had a 10secs flashback of my entire life from birth to the previous day. I kept telling my parents and siblings how much I loved them; something I had not done in years ;( Another one with a thick voice called out " Agile, Mopol, make we move, no time". I watched from the window how they broke the lock with a hammer and walked out with confidence. I stayed inside for like 20 more minutes before opening the door to check on others. They stole everybody's phone and laptops. Even one dude who came to visit his bae with this high end Asus laptop that surely cost more than 150k. I was the only one who still had his stuff intact, but I later got to find out they used my knapsack to pack all the laptops and phones, they even took my gold necklace, my body spray & antiperspirant, took my roomie's hair clipper. After that experience, I started watching videos on YouTube on how to disarm a person with a weapon, self-defense tutorials as well. A neighbour from another hostel described the guys that came and it was the exact description of the guys I saw. I later discovered even the local vigilantes work with these guys. Most of them are caught, beaten and handed to the vigilantes but after like a week, you will likely see the guy walking the streets again. This country needs serious prayers |
NeoWanZaeed:. I tried to condemn the act but all you could say was "it's the Igbo tradition". If you fold your arms while evil dwells, that means you are also evil. You know this saying, right? |
NeoWanZaeed:Mr., it is not just an Igbo tradition, it is everywhere in Nigeria. For the fact you see nothing wrong in child slavery, saying it is tradition, baffles me. Have you ever seen a rich or comfortable man give his kids out as housemaids? It is only the poor who do that and that's because they birth kids they can't afford to cater for which brings me back to my original post. |

But I have come to notice most of these guys don't know how to hold a weapon. They most times hold it too close to your head or back.
