If yes, for how much will I get it at Oyingbo?
Transmission is automatic.

If no, what are the available options/ alternatives?

Thanks Sire!

I just join eod club 03. Then I discover it has issues the engine is a kind of vibrating when u put on D AC. Also when u start D car at times u need to put gear at times in neutral to start. What could be a issues

Thanks
Is your Accord manual transmission?
Do you usually observe smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe when the engine is running?
Do you have to top off your engine oil in- between service intervals, to keep it at the recommended level?

While I await your answers, you can do this:

**Examine your engine mounts (popularly called 'engine seats'). There are four of them. One or more could be torn, and can give the vibration.

Has anyone had this same experience? I just changed all four (4) tyres of my vehicle and noticed a major improvement in the cooling from the AC.

My conclusion was that the engine was doing more work moving the vehicle hence less resources channeled to the cooling system so with the vehicle now gliding, less work for the engine thus, more power to the AC. Am I correct?
I see where you're coming from.

However, it is not the tyres that determine how well the a/c compressor pumps. It is the engine status.

Likewise, it is the engine that generates the power that produces torque delivered to your car's axle through the transmission. That is what determines the speed of your car.

Where new tyres contribute is better road grip, which translates to less slipping (better motion efficiency) & better fuel economy.
The other thing new tyres add is balance, and in some cases, less road noise.

Bad tyres won't make your engine do more than it can do, but they will cause slipping, which will invariably make you burn more fuel to cover less distance, compared to new/ good tyres.

Temas is complaning about oil shortage with Mobil 1 5w-30. Trust me no one will draw any attention to this. If it was Milemaster ...........
Greetings Sir

If I could just buttress your ideas with mine, engine oil shortage is not entirely a function of the BRAND of oil being used in a car.

One could be using an appropriate grade and blend of oil (regardless of its manufacturer, whether Milemaster, Mobil 1, Havoline or whatever) and the oil level may keep dropping with use IF the car's engine has begun to wear and burning oil.

Therefore, I personally don't believe the debate between Milemaster and Mobil 1 users is indicated. It only makes sense to debate, provided the state of every car owner's engine were guaranteed to be perfect.

If a car is 'shorting oil', 95% of the time, it is due to a failing engine. Therefore, pay attention to emission and overall engine status before narrowing down to your engine oil blend/brand, as a wrong blend (to a lesser extent, brand) may be the culprit. Once it is confirmed to be engine-related, one may want to rebuild the engine or it's time to consider selling and getting another car.

In summary:
So far a car's engine is in perfect shape and the manufacturer recommended oil grade/blend is used, no matter the brand of oil used, the car would work just okay 99% of the time.

The controversies on oil brand are largely psychological/ sentimental and subjective.

Bros,

I once experienced a similar problem with my 2003 Accord. Any moment I turned my key twice to open all four doors at once, the fuse controlling the door locks would blow up.

I promptly found out that the problem arose because a fuse with lower rating (10A) was consistently being used to replace the original fuse that blew up (15A). After replacing the fuse with the correct rating, i've not experienced it. It's well over a year now.

Solution: Ensure that the right fuse rating is selected when replacing your power window fuse. Check the underside of the fuse box cover to be guided by the diagram provided.

Cheers!

Generally, a burnt clutch can easily be replaced, likewise bad (leaking) seals, o-ring or faulty electrical component.
However, in the absence of a very knowledgeable and skilled a/c technician, it's better to get a tokunbo compressor. Luvinghubby can help you get that. Get in touch with him.

I've never experienced a flashing D light. However, I know it is usually related to either a faulty transmission sensor or your transmission giving you early warning signs. That is why at this point, scanning your car is the wisest thing to do.

Well, your owner's manual specifies 3Litres for a CHANGE of transmission fluid. If I were you, i'd follow that OR simply measure how much old fluid you drained and replace with exactly the same amount of fresh fluid.

The total capacity of your transmission is 7.8Ltrs, but only 3Ltrs can be drained at a time, except you dismantle the transmission and drain everything out, which is not usually the case.

I attach a screenshot of the reference page in the 2004 Honda Pilot Owner's Manual (page 218).

If the hard copy didn't come with your car for some reason, you can download a pdf copy of the manual online.

It happened this morning while I was enroute Enugu from Adamawa State. Getting to Dan Anacha L.G.A of Taraba State by 10:30am, we got caught up in a terrible traffic that lasted over six hours caused by nobody but policemen stationed at the check point.
What lead to the event? The Young Shall Grow Luxurious bus driver refused offering the policemen N2000 they demanded. He rather stated he was only ready to offer N500. But for what reason is the money meanthuh I just kept wondering. While there looks like no agreement on the horizon the driver made way to move, this now lead to the shooting from one of the policemen, firing bullet on the bus tyre hence tyre rupture and the blocking of the road by the bus. The funny part of the whole stuff was that, the policemen who carried out terror, jumped into the car our government gave them for citizens security, and gunned the engine away from the shooting stie. The Taraba state police commission had to come in and compensate the driver for the tyre ruptured before commuter as well as me had access to continue our trip. This was around 4;10pm.
BTW am still on the road. wish me safest trip.
Find pictures below.
Terrible behaviour from the policeman. From my experience, I used to think policemen in the North are generally better behaved towards civilians than elsewhere in the country.

That said, THERE IS NO LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN TARABA CALLED DAN ANACHA. So, why not get your facts right, OP?

From Numan in Adamawa, you'll pass through Lau LGA of Taraba to reach Jalingo.
Between Jalingo and Wukari, you'll pass through Gassol LGA (Mutum Biyu) and a part of Ardo Kola LGA before getting to Wukari LGA. Once you go beyond Wukari, you are headed for Katsina-Ala in Benue State. So, I don't understand where you got this your new local government from. Softly dey bobo us nah smiley

Hi guys. M sort of in a dilemma now.
I drive a 04 Honda Accord. The Ac works fine in cold weather and at night. But when the weather is hot, it just blows fan with no cold air. Have tried topping the refrigerant, but still didn't work. Someone said it might be the Climate Control Unit (CCU). Another said it's the dryer. I am honestly confused and would love to solve this issue once and for all.

Thanks a lot
1) Have the circuit checked for leaks

2) Be sure your compressor is working optimally. Might have a burnt clutch or armature that need to be repaired our an outright replacement of compressor warranted.

3) A faulty expansion valve might be the culprit

4) Except you have had direct trauma to the receiver-drier (which may cause a leak) or had excessive moisture in the circuit for too long, not likely to be a drier issue.

Lastly, where are you based? If you happen to be around ib, I'd be glad to help you run a check myself.

Please, my 2005 crv jerks while accelerating and its about to change into a lower gear and makes a 'kpum"sound. I have had the gear oil topped and it just happened once since then.

Also, prior to topping the gear oil it fires without accelerating and then picks.

It didn't quite happen this morning while driving to work.

But what could be the issue?

The road to my house is very stony could it have contributed to this issue?

Thank you for responding.
Symptoms described are suggestive of transmission (gearbox) malfunction, but a fuel system component cannot be ruled out.

Instead of 'topping' your transmission fluid, it is more prudent to do a drain and refill. MAKE SURE you use honda genuine ATF-DW1, otherwise you may snuff out the transmission yourself. I would personally suggest you repeat the drain-refill at least twice, about a week apart, since just about a third of the transmission fluid can be drained at once. That way, you can replace as much of the old fluid as possible.

If after doing this, these symptoms persist, please scan the car and pay attention to codes pulled.

GAZZUZZ, luvinhubby, Lolomike et al
Bro,

The sound is likely from your power steering pump, and it is due to a worn o-ring, leading to some air intake into the system. All you need do is to replace the o-ring and the noise will stop. It's a simple procedure you can even do on your own. You may pm me if you need graphic guidance.

In other words, the noise doesn't mean your power steering pump has failed or needs replacement.

Since a blackbox is virtually indestructible, WHY NOT MAKE THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE SAME MATERIAL AS THE BLACKBOX? e tire me o.

Somebody explain
Even if an aircraft is made with indestructible material, it would surprise you to find that every passenger aboard a crashed airliner made of such material may still be found dead.

There are several factors that could kill in an air crash. Assuming no smoke or fire in the air, the main factor is TRAUMA from SUDDEN DECELERATION, which occurs when the aircraft traveling at a very high speed is made to stop instantly, when it hits the ground/ water/ rock. Most passengers would be dead or fatally injured before any subsequent fire or drowning. Many internal organs, including the spinal cord and brain can be terribly damaged instantly by deceleration injuries. It can cause instant death.

If you understand the physics, you will also realise that aircrafts generally are made from light metal alloys with tough/ durable features. This makes them lighter and confers better fuel economy and easier flight control.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response. It's a V6 Engine. Honda accord 2005 (EOD).It's a Nigerian used, I bought it from my boss wife and according to her, she recently change the engine of the vehicle. The radiator fan blow air inside the engine but I don't knw of the compressor fan.
Ok.

If it is an EOD, then it has double fans which cool both radiator and condenser. Since your fans are working correctly, it's more likely the engine can't cope with driving and operating the a/c. It is a sign of engine wear.

Sir,
Which car are you referring to?

You sounded as though you already gave us some background information about the car. Was it bought as Tokunbo or Nigerian used?

What is the model and year of manufacture?

Generally, when your car temperature gauge rises beyond normal limits whenever you put on your a/c, possibilities may include:

1) Engine wear: When engine efficiency/ output is so low that it can no longer bear the extra burden of operating your a/c compressor.

2) Absent, poorly functioning OR poorly connected A/C condenser fan: This fan is usually attached to either the a/c condenser or its function synchronized with double radiator fans, controlled by a thermostat, which blow more frequently when your a/c is on.

The fan's function is to draw in extra fresh air from the surroundings to dissipate heat from your condenser and evaporator better, thus cooling your engine constantly. Heat output normally increases when you put on tha a/c.. but if the fan is working fine, engine temperature does not rise beyond normal.

If the fan is bad, or your car has only one fan attached to its radiator, it may be the source of overheating.

The fan may be present, but if the wires are wrongly connected, the fan will be blowing hot air outwards instead of drawing in cool air from outside to cool your engine. This can lead to overheating, and is particularly more likely if the a/c has been worked upon before.

3) Check the car's compressor to be sure it has not been replaced by another, whose power rating exceeds the original specification for the car. There is usually a label somewhere in your car hood, giving you this information.

Congrats on your new machine.

I hope you will have the patience to read through. Below are some of my previous responses on maintenance tips on this thread, pasted here, as you might find the information useful:

" Don't be scared by the different honda issues we discuss here. That is part of the reason for the existence of this thread in the first place.

Whichever brand of car you buy, the major factor that determines if such vehicles would be problematic or not is your maintenance habit (assuming you bought a car in perfect condition from the word go). Good routine car maintenance dramatically keeps your car fit for years, that sometimes you will even wonder why your car has not given you problems when others are complaining about theirs.

You must have observed Nigerians like saying they want to buy 'rugged' cars. With time, I have come to understand that by 'rugged', most people mean cars that:

- They can keep using for 6 months or more without having to SPEND MONEY to service

- Cars they can drive anyhow without expecting something to spoil (e.g. Speeding through potholes, turning steering to the end for front wheel drives)

- Cars with 'submarine function' that they can drive through heavy flood, yet expect the car to work fine the next day.

- Cars with chassis so strong/ heavy that you can bash and scratch the body every now and then, with minimal impact showing on the body (why must you bash in the first place?)

- In summary, cars they can use to the maximum possible limits with the minimum possible efforts to keep the car in good condition (which involves spending).

The bottom line is that if you don't mind spending the little amounts for routine maintenance regularly, HONDA brand has one of the most efficient, reliable and rugged engine technology with aesthetic features that are not bad, for relatively affordable prices.

If well maintained, also has great second-hand resale value...and they are easy to maintain, with parts readily available if need be.

Cars, like humans, need to maintain their health..and there are ways your car communicates with you when a potential problem is beginning to crop up. We must all learn to listen to our cars.

Some other potential problems can be averted by your early observation, by paying attention to your car.

Don't be scared to buy one. However, buy a good one (preferably clean title toks or brand new). You will come back for thanksgiving"
Regarding availability of spare parts, honda accord parts are readily available at Oyingbo spare parts market in Lagos. That market is almost exclusively for honda parts. Just name it.

Maintenance depends on the quality of car you buy ab-initio. So, assuming you buy a clean title car with good engine, the only thing you should be doing is routine maintenance:

- Changing engine oil and filter at regular intervals. Specified in owner's manual.
- Changing spark plugs at regular intervals (Honda specifies this in the owner's manual). Use recommended izfr6k-11 iridium spark plugs for better performance and longer plug life.
- Let the car idle for at least 5 mins every morning before you drive it out. It prevents engine wear, thereby prolonging engine life.
- Change tires when moderately worn.
- Avoid turning your steering completely to the last stop when making U-turns or sharp turns. This is your best bet to avoiding potentially embarrassing ball joint/ arm problems in future
- Avoid running into potholes as much as possible. You are better off slowly driving through potholes or irregular
- Do not fill your radiator with water. Use radiator coolant and do not dilute (most are already pre-diluted).
- Empty radiator coolant and change with fresh one every 2 years
- You must check your car fluids every morning before moving the car. At worst, every other day. These include your brake fluid, power steering fluid, engine oil level, radiator coolant level, clutch fluid (if manual transmission). You may need to top off once in a long while, but you never can tell if you don't check.
- Check transmission fluid (gear oil) once a while, say every 3-6 months...OR at every engine oil change. You may not need to replace this for years, but it's good practice. It helps you to know when to drain and refill, judging from fluid level, color, smell or consistency.
- Brake pads to be replaced at regular intervals, after noting the average duration it takes your brake pads to wear out (depends on how much you use the car and driving habits)

If you follow these tips, you'll be really glad you did.
I hail.

Please help I need to confirm something about my 2009 accord.

First noticed at intervals of like 2 weeks it would refuse to rev beyond 3rpm sometimes as low as 2. Then I discovered if i Park put off the engine and put it back on it would go back to normal for some minutes. I also noticed this usually happen when I travel for example to kaduna from Abuja on my way back.

At a point I was told it's the 'raising sensor' it was removed cleaned cos it was very dirty and everything seemed normal for some time.

Some weeks later the same issue happened I was told it is the gear sensor it was checked and put back. Well the issue came knocking again and this time my mechanic took it and changed all the plugs said they are the culprit I have never changed the plug since I bought it and I am told that the plug that came with it is from factory. I bought a change of plugs 10k as he said.

Now I travelled on Thursday and same thing started happening on the highway on my way back. I managed to Abuja. The car was taken for a scan and I was told it's raising sensor again but this time some bearing etc were bad and had to be changed i was billed 10k5. As I was driving around yesterday I noticed the vsa and warning light on my dashboard came on. So far I have not had any incident but I also am not sure this is the end of it.

Yesterday when I started the car in the morning the fuel gauge went dead as if I have not even started the engine and the fuel symbol light was flashing.

The car is 48k true miles. Please help I dint want to be stopped in the middle of nowhere when next I travel.

Also I usually do 150/160kmph when I travel am I pushing the car too hard? Is the car not built for such just confused

Please quote me and reply so I can provide any info needed. Thanks
Your 'mechanics' are just guessing. They will mess up your car if you think they know what they are doing.

From the symptoms you've described, I think the problem your car had originally is a dirty THROTTLE BODY. All you need do is to have a sensible mechanic remove the throttle body and clean. Then fit back and do a re-learn procedure. That should solve it.
*Also try to change your engine air filter at the same time. It is most likely dirty, and this must have contributed to the dirty throttle body.

However, with your fuel gauge not working presently, hope they've not blown a fuse or two. Have an electrician check your fuses.

I have a feeling what you were calling 'raising sensor' is your throttle position sensor, which is different from the throttle body.

Cheers!

To the medical staff in LUTH, shame on you people! All they had to do was give him anaesthetia to relax his nerves and induce sleep. The er.ec.tion will also relax and they can slip off the ring. What a waste calling fire service!
For your information, the phallus actually enlarges under anaesthesia. With your suggestion, you could only have worsened the patient's condition at best.

Dey there, dey form who sabi.

The Gurus in the house i greet. I noticed the central lock of my Accord 2006 model is malfunctioning. The lock chooses when to respond to the remote, even when i try with the key itself. Sometimes it locks me out and refuses to open, then after sometime it opens. Today i noticed only the drivers side opens with the remote. I have to open the rest doors from the inside. An electrician worked on the catcher yesterday yet the problem persists. Please what do i do? I need info so that i don't fall victim to these 'trial and error' technicians. Thanks in advance

While luvinhubby may be right, I have a different opinion.

I think the fuse controlling your central lock had initially malfunctioned from partial contact, then finally got blown (hence the initial intermittent problems, which has now come to stay).

A fuse malfunction/ blown fuse will give exactly the symptoms you've described EXCEPT that you can readily open the driver's door with the key ALWAYS.

For all it's worth, check the fusebox beneath your steering column, just above where you open your car hood. It's just a 20 Amp fuse that shouldn't cost more than 30-50 naira to replace.
