afuyebusayo:Why not add the specifics of your car? Different cars, different manufacturer recommendations. |
inze:Absolutely agree Sir. 7 years of using a 2003 Honda Accord as a daily driver.. and counting. Never had a single occurrence of 'tire pulling'. I had a good friend who bought a 2003 corolla around the same time I bought my Accord. He vehemently opposed the idea of me buying Honda then, but if you know you know. After we bought our cars, anytime he saw me, he would ask if 'that thing' has happened to my car and I would laugh. Today, he has grown tired of asking me if my car's leg has 'pulled', because it just didn't happen in spite of the incredible work rate of my Accord. Truth is, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Maintenance and driving habits is everything. Honda is really cool, if you pay attention to regular maintenance. Some people buy cars and will never read the manual!!.. Shey na Kazeem wey nor go school go read manual? The caveat is that you must buy a car in good condition ab-initio. You may need experienced individuals to help you assess a vehicle before purchase. I have done this for a couple of close friends and they remain trouble free. This is a live testimony and very true. Cheers! |
Stillthebest:Hullo, With due respect to the poster who attempted to proffer solutions to the issues you raised, if it is true there no leaks at all, I firmly believe yours is more likely a case of a bad PCV valve (stuck open), leading to burning of oil. Simply replacing your PCV valve will solve the problem of oil shortage. It is a relatively cheap fix. Concerning the engine oil viscosity you use, 20W-50 gives poor lubrication on start up, as it takes longer to circulate to the top of the engine, thereby starving it of lubrication. Since most of engine wear occurs around start-up, you may want to make it a habit to allow the car idle for at least, 5 minutes on cold start up before you move the car. The other thing is that such an oil must be changed at least, every three months to prevent/ minimize sludge build up in the engine over time. Cheers! |
afuyebusayo:Hi Sir, Honda recommends 5W-20 for your car. However, you may want to consider more viscous blends (5W-30 Synthetic, 0W-40 Synthetic or 20W-50 Mineral) if your engine is not in pristine condition. If synthetic oil was routinely used all along, continue with it. If mineral oil had been in use, continue with it, but change it earlier (say every three months). Cheers! |
laithanman:Throttle position sensor malfunction is another possibility. Luvinghubby already mentioned that. A scan SHOULD give this away, but if not.. for all it's worth, remove the harness and inspect mating surfaces for moisture. If moist, allow dry before reconnecting. Use the opportunity to inspect the harness wires too. The last thing that could be needed with a TPS malfunction is to replace it. However, you must be certain what you really have is a faulty TPS. By the way, hope you can see how the dangers of 'steam washing' your car engine far outweigh the benefits of doing a careful, meticulous cleaning by hand periodically. In actual fact, there is no steam anywhere. All you have is usually a jet of water forced through a narrow nozzle tip to create turbulence and a HIGH PRESSURE in the flow. It is the sheer force of this water under high pressure that dislodges most of the dirt. However, many times we end up getting the water in the wrong places as a 'collateral damage', e.g. alternator, spark plug holes, ignition coils, ECU, one sensor or the other. You can achieve the same or even better results by using a degreaser/ organic solvent like petrol or carb cleaner to clean oil-smeared part of the engine before carefully hand-washing the engine with mild soap and water, having covered the vital areas with a water-proof material. This will usually save you the kind of issues that result from 'steam washing' engine bays. The only part you probably need a steam washer nozzle to clean is your a/c condenser, and this must be done right to avoid 'wrecking' the condenser too. Cheers! |
Hi Boss! 1. It revs to almost 3000 rpm b4 gear shift. There is enough transmission oil in d gear boxear.Let's be clear about this. I expect your car to idle at about 2000rpm with a cold engine. Afer idling for say 3-5 minutes, the rpm comes to rest somewhere between 800-1000. With an already warm engine, when you start your car, it should idle between 800-1000. At no point should your car idle at 3,000 rpm except you just cleaned out your throttle body and haven't done a throttle relearn OR you have a dirty idle air control valve. Check these out Sir. 2. The car loose power when climbing hill. I have serviced the throttle body, injector mouth, cleaned the airflow meter but no improvement. With all these you have already ruled out (assuming done properly), the other possibilities is an outrightly worn engine or transmission wear. Compression test to confirm power loss, triple drain and refill transmission fluid with fresh ATF-DW1 for starters. 3. AC is not working, even the blower does not turn on. Blower was pulled out and tested OK.This is most likely a blown fuse issue. Check the fuse box under the hood for the blower motor fuse. replace if blown. Regards!! |
062 Ten minutes is a luxury. I would suggest three minutes. |
the amber light will come on not necessarily based on volume of fuel, but based on other factors calculated by engine ecu.Aah!.. I see your point clearly now. Thanks. Simple but detailed explanation. |
GAZZUZZ:Logical method. However, the drawbacks of this method include: - Spillage or evaporation of some of the fuel kept as backup will account for a false low value - Accuracy of the 'ten litres' (volume) bought initially cannot be determined except measured by a standard calibrated container. Might be safer to follow this: Once reserve light comes on, top up fuel with a known volume and drive till reserve light just comes on again, then calculate. Regards! |
The car auto revs on its own in park and neutral . Once you start it, goes Voom! Voom! Voom! With the tach going up and down continouslyA dirty idle air control valve could be the cause of this. Especially if you have tried cleaning your throttle body previously, some carbon particles might have been dislodged into the IACV to worsen an aleady likely carbon build up in the IACV. It jerks with a thud, when changing from park to reverse or from neutral to driveTorn engine mounts and/ or transmission mounts can give you this. Inspect these mounts. You can also feel a thud when changing from park to reverse (but not from neutral to drive) if your car is parked on a slope and the e-brake not properly engaged, such that the car relied on gear braking. Again you may feel a thud while changing gears if your transmission fluid level is low. Inspect your transmission fluid level. On motion, the vehicle drives itself as there is no throttle response and does not exceed 40km/hr. There is also a slight thud when it shifts from gear 1-2 and when downshifting too. I can only control it with the brake at this point. The engine sound is also very high.Yes, sounds like a throttle position sensor/ throttle body issue. Did you do a relearn procedure after installing your new throttle body? Since you have changed your throttle body, check the harness of your TPS to see if properly connected. You might need to replace TPS in the worst case scenario, if it turns out that TPS is faulty. Generally, follow this stepwise approach: 1) Remove IACV, clean and reinstall 2) Check TPS harness for proper connection 3) Check transmission fluid level. Top if needed. Be guided by your owner's manual please. 4) Do a throttle body relearn procedure 5) Inspect your engine and transmission mounts. Replace if necessary. Cheers! |
jimohibrahim:Low refrigerant level. Rule out leaks before a refill. Cheers! |
Flyingman:Hullo Boss, I think you have some air in the circuit. What you can do is to flush the power steering fluid circuit, to replace all old fluid with fresh one and eliminate air pockets. Meanwhile, which power steering fluid do you use? |
Topic refers to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while OP attached a picture of University of Benin Teaching Hospital. What sort of mad reporting is this? |

Move2:Did the person replace your car key after he replaced your 'brain-box'? Did he uninstall the 'bad' brainbox and install the replacement in your presence? |
michaelo2:Points 8 and 15 are WRONG. - The eyeball grows from birth till around puberty, but the most rapid period of growth is between birth to about 8 years of age. - The cornea is not the only avascular tissue in the body. Still within the eyeball, the crystalline LENS has no blood vessels! The nails have no blood supply too |
fullman:Hullo PM me if you still need. I have 3 quarts of Honda Genuine ATF-DW1 to sell, in same location. Cheers! |
scarr:Dear Sir, Stay clear of that car. Look for a suitable alternative. My personal opinion though. Cheers! |

Specialist900:That should fit into your compressor wire harness, I think. What model of honda is this? |
Hullo inze Kindly help look up the history of this vehicle with VIN number: JTEGD21AX30066464 Do mail report to dimu4ever@yahoo.com Many thanks 'n well done for the great work here. Cheers! |
mcevans1:Since you are in Lagos, I would recommend Gazzuzz. He knows his onions. 08023251039, 08033910382- That's Gazzuzz Cheers! |
mcevans1:The 'rewire' has messed up the wiring of one of your fans. You may need to reverse the connection. It's an easy fix, if it is the problem. What will give it away is the finding of one of your fans blowing air outwards (confirm this first). As for your fans working immediately you turn the keys, your thermostat may have been bypassed. Hence, doesn't control the workings of the fan anymore..but I assure you it is not the cause of the overheating. That may only affect your fuel economy. Cheers! |
mcevans1:Did anyone work on your a/c or disconnected your cooling fans recently? One of the two fans, the one which runs with your a/c might have had its wires reversed. That way, it would be blowing outwards rather than suck in air to help cool the radiator-condenser complex. This scenario could lead to what you've described. Cheers! |
GAZZUZZ:Thanks for this very valuable information Sir. Major mystery resolved. |
Luvinghubby et Gazzuz: Greetings Sirs. I am in a bit of dilemma concerning the engine mounts on my '03 Accord LX. I noticed some chassis vibration, which I diagnosed as torn engine mounts. On removal and visual inspection, the rear engine mount, right and upper transmission mounts were torn. I replaced all with new mounts, including the lower transmission mounts. However, I noticed that the new REAR mount was not an exact fit. Only 3 of the 4 foot bolt holes aligned. So, I had to use only those 3. (PS: The rear mount I bought was precisely meant for i4, not V6). The vibration reduced but never went away completely, especially when using a/c and at a stop with gear in 'D'. Vibration disappears under same condition if I shift to 'N'. I have a feeling I didn't buy good engine mounts ab-initio, even though they were 'new'. Vibration seems to be worsening now. Do I source for Toks engine mounts OR order OEM mounts (last resort) What would you advise I do, if I must eliminate this vibration completely? Thanks! |
The road leading from Gashaka up into Mambilla Plateau (Taraba) surely qualifies, and is the most scary route in Nigeria. Whoever has traveled to Mambilla Plateau can tell. Anyone who disagrees should travel to Gembu first ![]() |
And assuming this was a scam? A devised plan by some Internet fraudsters to collect your national ID data, to later use for fraudulent purposes? Let the Federal Minister overseeing the national ID card program announce this method of checking himself first, or else this might be a scam. For now, why don't we just take the pain to walk to the various NIMC offices and let them check on their own system if our national ID cards are ready? |
kkon:Think of worn out ball joints too. Like Gazzuzz said, a proper evaluation of your suspension system will help to narrow down on the culprit. Cheers! |
Oba of Lagos, Akiolu, is a poor student of history. Apart from the fact that Oonirisa is the Arole Oodua (if Akiolu knows what that means), the palace of the Oba of Lagos at Iga Iduganran was built on an Ile-Ife man's land. Only an Id.iot would behave like Akiolu did. Major fckup from Akiolu. The City of the 401 deities shall definitely prevail. He has awoken the deities!! |
