Marpol: My 2003 Honda Accord V6 automatic sometimes have issues getting the gear out of parking position. Most times after depressing the brake repeatedly, it will release. If it doesn't I have to use the shift lock to get it into the drive position.

The transmission works well. Just getting it out of park is the headache. Any suggestions please.

Does the car jerk as you eventually shift from 'Park' gear?

1. A 2003 Honda Accord, 4-cylinder engine will need about 4.4 litres of engine oil on the average. It may be more if the engine was hot at the time the oil is drained (which makes the engine oil to be drained thinner).
Therefore, after filling with 4.4 litres, you must check your engine oil level before starting your car the next morning. If the oil is short of the full mark on the dipstick, top off appropriately.

2. Although, Honda recommends 15" rims for the 2003 Accord, the car can be fitted with 16" wheels. This may affect the car's centre of gravity and consequently balance at top speed. Except a pre-existing American owner changes to 16" wheels, the factory default wheel size for 2003 Accord is 15". As such, it is quite unlikely you will get a 2003 Accord, shipped in with 16" wheels on it.

Well, from my personal experience, at least once a month.

It takes lots of discipline, principle and morals on my part to stay out of danger. I just make them realize as things be politely. The closer ones eventually tend to 'beef' sha, but it doesn't matter. A good number remain my friends.

I may be wrong, but I think one's physical attributes, general attitude, the nature of one's profession (sometimes), financial status and swagz are the main factors that tend to attract these ladies.

You can't blame them, but don't take advantage of them. That's my opinion.

I try not to make them feel bad all the same, cos if ladies can express themselves this way, I think it would be a more balanced world for us all. Afterall, in other climes, it happens. Hillary was first to 'hit on' Bill Clinton. Look at them today

Without necesarily inditing Fada U-turn..I feel I need to take this time to enlighten more people on the inherent dangers in indiscriminate intake of alcohol, smoking and psychoactive substance abuse.

Alcohol, when consumed in large quantities (more than half a bottle of beer a day) acts like a poison. It steadily damages liver cells over time, until the liver is unable to carry out it's diverse functions (liver failure). THEN, the toxins that accumulate begin to damage body tissues and also overwhelm the kidneys. Kidney failure then comes knocking if the person survives long enough.

Smoking has been implicated in all manner of deadly conditions, from damage to the blood vessels predisposing to stroke to various cancers.

At least Majek Fashek is a glaring testimony of what psychoactive substance abuse can do.

The problem is that some nigerian celebrities, especially the younger ones seem to think there is class in smoking and drinking without application of caution. I saw konga at a show the other day, and it would amaze you the way he guzzled down almost 3/4 of a big bottle of whisky before going on stage!! Did he even know He was killing himself?!!

This is the way these young talents short-change themselves.

Geeluat: Earlier today, I started my 2008 Honda Accord and all of a sudden the Navigation and the Audio system went off and till now it has refuse to come on.. I realize one and it's that each time i switch the ignition to I, I hear click sounds somewhere but I can't place it.. Any Idea what might be wrong and the probable solution to this?

Very likely a blown fuse. Check ur fuses one by one, if you cannoot locate the one for the sound console directly using the mapping underneath the fusebox cover..

Replace any burnt fuse with another of equal rating. That should be all.

They have simply been owed their normal wages since July ending until this moment. Yet, FG apparently does not think there is a problem. Funny, but sad for the country

 HEADLINE NEWS: Federal Govt of Nigeria punish Resident Doctors for demanding "Formal residency Guidelines" 

"Yes, Nigeria in the news again. This time it is not about power failure or mendacious US journalist Ann Coulter, it is CNNiReport.

 Everything you are about to read is as close to the truth as it gets. 

The world over, "residents" refer to doctors who hold a medical degree from accredited medical schools. Its history dates back to doctors residing within hospital accommodation to attend to emergencies and after-hours care. Pay was minimal beyond room, board, and laundry services. It was assumed that most young men and women training as physicians had few obligations outside of medical training at that stage of their careers (Wikipedia) 

Over the years, residency programs required accreditation to maintain higher standards of health care delivery as well as regulate working hours for the often stressed resident doctors. While Gray's Anatomy and House give an insight into the life of a typical resident doctor (edit the sex and romance a little) the life of a resident doctor can be quite hectic. 

Residency programs were mostly unattractive in-spite of the prestige of becoming a Consultant specialist (Attending Physician) in the often uncertain future. 

The life of the Nigerian resident however is much less attractive! Besides the tedious hours which vary depending on field of specialty training, a resident must adopt a slave mentality and endure harsh rebuttals from his attending/consultant- a bearable burden.
The average Nigerian doctor in his quest for more knowledge is often willing to subject her/him self to such an environment, at all costs if possible. It is just as difficult to get into a residency program overseas as it is in Nigeria, sometimes even more difficult. To finally adapt to such infirmity and not be paid wages due to one, you can imagine it becomes unbearable after a short while.
 On 01 October 2013, Resident doctors under their parent association: Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) embarked on an indefinite industrial action (popularly called "Strike action". Their demands was simple, no one expected the strike action to loom beyond 2 weeks at the most. NARD in its communique had demanded for: A formal residency guideline. Her argument was that there was no provision in the Nigerian civil service act for residency training/trainees- an obvious loophole which had often been exploited to short-change residents by every Tom, Dick and Harry called Chief Medical Directors (C.M.D) or in recent times C.E.Os. Though a 'simple' demand, it is pregnant with meaning. At the time, 62 days of salaries were owed pockets of resident doctors in some (not all) tertiary hospitals. This was blamed on the implementation of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (IPPIS). A failed implementation to put it more aptly. The failed IPPIS affected all cadres of tertiary hospital workers- including the attending/consultants. The same IPPIS was rejected outright by the Academic Staff Union Nigerian Universities (ASUU).

 The federal government of Nigeria (FGN) in characteristic lack lustre manner ignored the striking doctors for a few days before inviting NARD executives to negotiations. Not surprisingly the understanding NARD executives called off the strike on the 21st of October with mere promises from the FGN to pay all outstanding salaries owed and look into their demand. The Nigerian Government did proceed to pay outstanding arrears to health workers but deliberately, with malicious intent, ensured no resident doctor was paid. After 44 days, no payment has been made in a calculated attempt to frustrate and break the spirit of NARD and her members in certain tertiary institutions. An action possible only with the FGN's blessing. 

Such dictatorial tendencies are not new in post-colonial Nigeria. Not too recently one of the progressive South West states of the opposition party had sacked its entire work force of medical doctors for demanding improved working conditions. Nothing more came out of it. Such flagrant disregard by any nation for the health of her citizens spells catastrophe for such a nation. After working for 2 months, is NARD faulted to call a strike? Perhaps. Another 2 months after the strike was called off, the federal government proceeds to pay all workers EXCEPT resident doctors. These are married men and women with bills and responsibilities, some of them repaying debt from loans. Days turn to weeks, weeks become months and yet it does not even make headline news! Only in Nigeria. 

While my country men suffer, my democratically elected leaders fly out to foreign lands, pay top-dollar for the best medical care money can buy. To make matters worse, the regulatory authority, so called Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) does nothing, the parent association of doctors, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) does zilch. Should the world still sit and watch?

 Conclusion: “Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity. ” - Hippocrates, father or Medicine. This report is not about sentiment or whipping public sympathy. It is to protest oppression of many by the few in a so-called democracy. It is to let the world report news for the right reasons. It is a hopeful attempt to resuscitate our comatose medical institutions- perhaps a last ditch effort to prevent further brain drain. We lost our best to Students to study Medicine and now face the risk of losing some of the best Nigerians to foreign lands.To the Nigerian Resident Doctor: After you find out all the things that can go wrong, your life becomes less about living and more about waiting.....Choke."

It's simple and straightforward. The quality of refridgerant the technician charged your a/c circuit with is poor.

It is your duty to do the following:

1) PERSONALLY examine the label on your A/C compressor for the type of refridgerant recommended. For 1995 Mazda, it will more likely be R-12.

2) Ensure you buy an original (OEM) quality R-12 refridgerant by YOURSELF and then, hand it over to the technician to charge the compressor under your supervision. I have discovered that there are several brands of refridgerants in the market with varying qualities, based on their level of cooling/ performance. You can let me know when you've confirmed your car's type of refridgerant, so I can give you some trusted/ high quality brand names from experience.


**A less likely cause of d problem may be a leak elsewhere in the cooling circuit. If your technician however knows what he does well, that should not be the case.

I had accident with My 2008 Honda Accord which affected the shaft of the passenger side. That was fixed but recently I realize that whenever I'm accelerating at high speed, visible breeze air comes out of the vents.. What could be the cause please and the remedy?.

Check your dash for your ventilation settings. Make sure you activate the 'recirc' button. It should prevent air from the exterior coming into the cabin through the vents.

Nice suggestions in the house already. However, the problem might be one or two of your engine mounts (commonly referred to as engine seats) are torn. Have a reliable mechanic check your engine mounts first of all.

I sincerely do not expect no work no pay to be an issue for ASUU.

Firstly, they did not work. Naturally, they should not be paid for such periods.

Like ASUU has explained often, I believe they (ASUU) are fighting for a honourable cause. If it means no work no pay for some months until the FG bows to their demands, ASUU should take it as a necessary sacrifice on their own part towards the sustenance of quality education in nigeria.

Master, your gearbox is the prime suspect here. You may need to service it, or have an expert assess it at the very least.

If it's one or more of your plugs, your car may not idle smoothly OR when you accelerate, you won't hear a smooth sound.

If it is your fuel pump failing, in addition to stalling on motion, the sound made by your car while accelerating gradually dies off (in spite of the depressed throttle). Have you noticed any of these?

Please help.[/quote]Bro, it's quite normal to find a bit of dusting on your front alloys after driving for moderate/long distance. However, if the dusting is excessive (as to almost paint your rims black), then, your brake pads are not genuine.

I don't think this has anything to do with the calipers. Just replace the brake pads with original ceramic pads.

gmyguy: i used to drive pretty fast with my old 1996 Jetta. Although i don't think the speedometer was accurate, but someday a neighbour tried keeping up with me on Mobolaji bank anthony way on a sunday morning...he said i was trying to kill myself, cos his speedometer read 170km/hr....the car was very stable at high speeds. Now i have an 07 Accord, the car seems so light and atimes am not even sure its still running(on), i don't feel as secure as i felt speeding with the Jetta, may be it will grow on me. I also drove my Brother's 06 Altima on 3MB...i was able to do 160km/hr and cud have done more, but my brother begged me to slow down...i think i'll just stick to driving fast in video games

Baba, that accord at just 190km/h is literally worse than an aircraft at take-off, especially on A/C with your windows rolled up.
You just have this light-headed feeling like "mehn!, any small fckup and it's certainly over".
Sure, you don't wanna do the Jetta stunts with your new machine.

Ok.. To check your gear oil:

1. Start the engine
2. Shift the gear to neutral
3. With the engine still running, pull out the gear oil dipstick and wipe clean
4. Dip and withdraw the dipstick again. Check for:
-Oil level
-Oil colour (normal should be slightly pink and clear). If black, oil needs to be replaced
-Particles: Feel with your fingers for any particles in the gear oil (gritty sensation). If this is present, gear oil needs to be replaced.
5. Switch off the engine.

So, i want to ask if i can do d topping.

Bro, be very careful so you don't spoil your gearbox!

Before you conclude that your gear oil is low, you must be sure you gauged it the right way.
If you check your gear oil level before starting the car, the level will most likely ALWAYS be at the 'low' mark or below it.

Gear oil is checked with the car engine running.

ping2ping: I'm about buying a Honda car which i will use as everyday car and travel to the East at least twice a year.

But i have heard even on this forum about a peculiar problem with Honda products that results in the front tyre pulling out. That could be very dangerous on a highway or on a very lonely and dangerous road.

Please experienced Honda experts and users, how do you avert this problem if possible? You can imagine if that happens along Benin By-Pass or Benin - Ore highway? Is there something on the car you need to change or check regularly to avert such problem?

All suggestions will be appreciated.

In my humble opinion, I do not believe pulling out of the shafts is a de novo problem with Honda cars. If that were to be the case, I am sure Honda would have recalled many of their products on account of that.

I believe that certain factors may be responsible for pulled shafts, which we often complain so bitterly about. These include:

1) Initial condition of the car: For those buying 2nd hand (foreign or 9ja used). In this category, you will find that 9ja used cars are far more likely to develop the fault, essentially due to our terrible roads.

2) Terrible Nigerian roads: Even if you buy a brand new Honda, most nigerian cities where we live have horrible undulating roads. Driving cars in such terrain will invariably culminate in your shafts pulling out one day.

3) Bad maintenance habit: Such as turning your steering wheel to the last stop. This should be avoided at all costs!

My advice: If you know you live in an area with terrible roads, you may not enjoy your honda to the fullest cos you may have to start spending on repairs earlier than expected. It's advisable you buy an X-Terra, Pathfinder or Hummer..lol.. But seriously, these are the types of vehicles that can survive on our roads.

There is no problem with honda shafts provided you buy your car in a VERY GOOD condition. The problem comes when you start using the cars on nigerian roads.
