Yes my people we never planned to be here, but somehow we are here again. A very familiar territory of permutations.This time it affects  not just  Nigeria alone , but the entire African Continent. Africa could find it too difficult to produce even 1 team in the second round. The permutations that could make each of the five remaining teams go through are presented below. Which team do you think  has the easiest,impossible, doable but difficult task


1[b]South Africa[/b]
To qualify , they must beat france by three goals AND  (hope that Uruguay beat Mexico by more than two goals.)

Verdict   : Almost impossible but this is football sometimes miracles happen.


2[b]Algeria[/b]
TO qualify, they must beat USA AND  (hope that England beat slovenia by more than one goal, OR  England and slovenia play a draw)

Verdict: Doable but difficult, they just need to approach the match with the JIHAD mentality and learn to be more effective in front of goal.


3. Nigeria
To qualify , we must beat Korea by any margin and hope that Argentina beats greece

Verdict :Tricky but  not as difficult as with SA and CIV.

4.CIV
To qualify they must beat Korea by 7 unreplied goals and hope that brasil beats Portugal by more than two goals.

vERDICT: Almost impossible as Korea will park the bus in front of goal and African teams are not high scoring sides.


5.Ghana
To qualify , they must pick a draw against Germany, OR  (expect that the Aussies to beat Serbia by not more than 2 goals while they(Ghana) dont lose to Germany by more than 2 goals OR lose by just one goal but in a high scoring match (3-2) and  serbia and Australia play a low score draw (0-0,1-1))

VERDICT: tricky, but achievable. Aussies might just do them a big favour

That will be very wrong. CIV has no other player with the positioning,and finishing of Drogba. They only need Didane and Kalou to either raise their game or be subbed.

Very correct. If Gervinho comes in, he will definitely attract enough attention which will make it more likely  for Drogba  to get on the blind side of the defence and do the magic. A more imaginative  Didane would have done some damage to the Brazilian defence.

At least CIV should pick a  draw from this match.

Didane or Kalou should be taken out for Gervinho so that Drogba can get some service.

Now that I take a step back and re-assess the Group D, I feel that the tie was a good option. Ghana needs to either tie or beat Germany, or needs Austrailia to tie or beat Serbia and since Austrailia now has a fighting chance to make it to the next round I think that they may be able to even tie serbia. In either case Ghana will advance to the next round. Worst case scenario Ghana and Austrailia both lose miserably- although probable lol- I think we still have a good chance!

If Austrailia ties with serbia, then Ghana must not lose by more than one goal to Germany. If Ghana picks a draw then they are in, no matter what happens in the serbia match. But I am afraid the germans will be too strong for the Ghanians.

After the Greece match it is evident that Mikel is planets ahead of Haruna. Infact it is now clear that it was kaita that was sheilding HARUNA and ETUHU. I somehow believe you either did not watch yesterday's match or that haruna did so excellently in the friendlies that he is still enjoying your goodwill. Haruna did not do badly but a mikel would have given the team a far better shape and would allowed the defence to settle better.
