Ranoscky:Thank you. infact the contribution of people i have always respected on NL as very intelligent is even more annoying. |
tkb417:And you are sure of your facts that he had the money buried somewhere in his house and only had to exhume it. abi? |
This government publicly "endorsing" sanusi's reforms is only a wise approach at correcting SLS excessiveness.Fg will be working underneat to plug his glaring technical deficiencies. Any other approach by government would have meant , making the same mistakes SLS did by using a bazoka to kill an ant and later wonder publicly why the building is shaking. Jonathan is a very wise man and knows clearly that removing the erring sanusi at this time will not in any way help our financial rating internationally. It will only confuse everyone more and inconsistency is one thing that erodes trust. The pro-SLS guys seem to hinge their support on the easily verifiable sharp practices of the Ibrus and Akingbolas. As much as I do not support SLS especially becuase of his shallowness in understanding economic dynamics, i must quickly add that cecelia and Akingbola were really really corrupt. But the question i keep asking is: does sanusi mean that of all the banks he deem sound, he did not find any executive abuse that would warrant prosecuting some of the CEOs i hate to mention? Sanusi's logic simply is that all weak banks have corrupt CEOs and no CEO of a "sound" bank ever did anything wrong. Even a nursery school pupil knows that sanusi's celebrated debtors list was a sham. Why did he not publish the enter list of bad debtors in the entire industry? As a banker is sanusi feigning ignorance that the Jimoh Ibrahims that paid billions after some days , only went to some other banks not under sanusi's radar to collect money and weaken the entire system more? Finally why has sanusi refused to answer questions that border on loans he gave as ED risk at FBN? Now the FG has boxed him, he no longer needs to struggle so hard to preach reforms , they will now only ask for a blue print for the industry(we all know the guy has none). we now have seasoned professionals who will make him work and not this his ALUTA CONTINUA mentality |
![]() before nko, boiz must wack na. omo people too smart for dis country. |
slex:My broda nice question. I wonder how this is news talkless of making frontpage on NL. It is longer the thieving politicians that make one weep for this country, but the mentality of the average nigerian , where he majors on very very minor issues. Wetin concern me if jonathan wife travel, in fact make she go heaven self. |
marutimon:Very correct . Infact if we have fast wingers like ogbuke even Gabriel Heinze will be a big liability. The danger area of the argentines is the attack. Any two of the six attackers can do severe damage to any team. |
semid4lyfe:So you fear the koreans more than argentines? how funny. Yes they have team work and are better prepared than the nigerian team, but with teams like that we do not even need an exceptional performance to win. The korean team can be tamed and defeated. simply by retaining posession and slowing the game down. make their stamina count for less. Our boys are at least intelligent enough to know how to do that. I also do no think they have a defence line strong enough to stop the likes of Obafemi and Ik UCHE. |
bgees: Una no go kill person here. |
hollandis:I was not banned.thanx Mikel has resumed training, so forget the injury talk. Mikel has never been a backpasser in the SE. Yes he does that in chelsea, but some off us need to watch the chelsea backline carefully. Peter cech is about the most engaged keeper in terms of backpass. These passes do not come from Mikel. They come from either Alex or Terry, sometimes i get pissed off when terry does that expecially when he is not under any pressure from an attacker, but maybe that is the best way they know how to organise the backline. Mikel is and will be a relevant part of the SE for a long time to come. He is surely the first midfielder i will pick,Haruna comes next because of his age which will help the teams mobility greatly. |

hollandis:This EPL hate campaign will do us no good. You are suggesting that we take 4 keepers to the WC becuase you hate the EPL ![]() Anyways, there is just no way Mikel and ETUHU will not make that team. |
GK: Manuel Almunia (Arsenal) The Spaniard's sustained ineptitude just edges team-mate Lukasz Fabianski's preference for short, sharp, unfathomable moments of idiocy. At one point this season Almunia was saving under half the shots hit at him on target. A replacement must be found in the summer. Just not Fabianski, eh, Arsene? DR: Mario Melchiot (Wigan Athletic) The former Chelsea man looks about ten years removed from his best, and he is still only 33. The Latics' whole back line was poor this year — as Spurs proved back in October — but Melchiot gets in by virtue of the fact that Wigan conceded over two goals a game when he was on the pitch. DC: Andre Bikey (Burnley) The Clarets have worse defenders on their books — a couple, actually — but none quite as infuriating as Bikey. The Cameroonian international is a supremely talented and physical footballer, but one blessed with the mentality of a spoilt 12-year-old. When will he learn? DC: Mikael Silvestre (Arsenal) Note it down to experience, Arsene. When Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to see one of his arch-rivals sign one of his squad members for a cut-price fee, it isn't because he has gone temporarily senile. It's because the player in question is flat-out past it. DL: Jonathon Spector (West Ham United) While the likes of Dempsey and Donovan were doing good work for the profile of American football, Spector — admittedly often being played out of position on the left — was doing his best to undermine it. West Ham players were all rubbish — but Spector still stood out. MR: John Utaka (Portsmouth) Being on a reported £80,000-a-week went against Utaka all season, despite his insistence he was on less than half that figure. The forward scored just one goal in 18 league appearances all year, struggling just to get into Avram Grant's regular XI. Even for £80pw that would still be a poor return. MC: Jimmy Bullard (Hull City) Perhaps it was just asking too much for Bullard to be the saviour of a relegation team again. But football's funny man wasn't even close this year — with that penalty miss against Sunderland a lowlight —and his deadly cocktail of high wages and injuries looks likely to leave Tigers fans cursing for years. MC: Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers) Muamba played nearly 3000 minutes for the Trotters this season, under two different managers, so he obviously has fans within the game. But what did he really achieve? One goal, no assists, 11 yellow cards and seeing his side concede 55 goals. Bully for him. ML: Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur) Keane slots in on the left as it seems that is where both Messrs Benitez and Redknapp feel he is best suited these days — if the substitutes' bench is unavailable, that is. The Irishman went from starter, to early sub, to benchwarmer, to loanee in about six months at Spurs. A spectacular slump. ST: Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City) His seven games missed through suspensions (not to mention his ill-fated African Cup of Nations trip) almost certainly helped scupper City's Champions League bid. Drogba's talent, Adriano's attitude. In the end, 14 goals in 26 games is just a reminder of what could have been — but what also still can be for Ade. ST: Christian Benitez (Birmingham City) It speaks volumes for Alex McLeish's work this season that the Blues finished in the top ten despite their big summer forward gamble failing to pay off at all. Benitez has the enviable ability to look dangerous often, without ever actually finding the net. The 'new Afonso Alves' is a tag no-one should want to carry. On the bench Brian Jensen (Burnley): Made 139 saves, conceded 82 goals, had three clean sheets. That'll get you, oh, relegation actually. Emiliano Insua (Liverpool): A promising prospect he might be, but at times this season the young Argentinian threatened to sink when he was asked to swim. Still got a national team call-up, mind. John Terry (Chelsea): The double-winning captain rides this bench for the sheer controversy of it, really. But he was alarmingly poor ever since a certain other controversy broke in January. Gary Neville (Manchester United): Described only a few months back by one writer as "looking like he had won a competition to play for United." Even a good final few games cannot redeem that embarrassment. Mido (West Ham United): Good move: Offering to play for just £1-a-week at cash-strapped Upton Park. Bad move: Playing so badly even that wasn't good value. Stewart Downing (Aston Villa): Added less than he withdrew from a Villa side that paid £11.5 million for his services. To top it off, his Boro understudy Adam Johnson managed to pip him to an England call. Jason Scotland (Wigan Athletic): When a striker celebrates his first league goal in April, it's a fair bet he's been pretty rubbish. |
Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda, Israel), Austin Ejide (Hapoel Petah Tikva, Israel), and Bassey Akpan (Bayelsa United, Nigeria)e don complete? |
I believe argentina can be tamed too. All he needs are 11 fit boys that can run 90 minutes. Argentina does not have a backline that i fear. An Ogbuke, Ik uche will give them enough trouble. Messi of Barca is not the same messi for argentina. More importantly the African crowd at the stadium will be behind our team that day. |
mikeansy:RESPECT. |
@labiyemmy:I no be lawyer but make i try. In the case of a governor after the first judgement , he has a window for appeal while still retaining his office. It is assumed that he has accepted the verdict when he fails to file an appeal within that period. However after the appeal , the second judgement is final. In this case i hear , there has been an appeal and a second judgement. Well lawyers are very funny but i do not know the basis for DM's refusal to swear in IGBEKE. If he says because of the pending appeal in the supreme court (which i believe is just a waste of precious time), then he is supposed to be acting on a restraining order from a competent court , telling him to stay action pending the determination of the case. Has he been served a restraining order? As for those saying Joy emordi should remain becuase Igbeke is a criminal , i cant help but laugh . This is really medicine after death. Do we call this the post-UME exam that students take after passing Jamb or what? If the criminal won , then give the criminal his mandate. maybe we have more criminals in the senatorial district that see criminality as acceptable. |
na im be say price of property even reach epe go skyrocket be that. |
Another angle to this sambo issue is that , if Jonathan is not satisfied with his performance in the next few months and fails to pick him as running mate for 2011, then that spells the premature end of sambo's political career. |
start strike on monday or call off strike? when did they call off the present one? I bet many parts of the country will not even know the difference. But on a serious note Jonathan need to warn those guys, this na national sabotage na. |
bilms:The funny thing about politics is that some just talk while others act. It is not unlikely that you are not even prepared to vote while the old women in Ilorin that worship saraki have marked out the election day and are prepared to wait even 10 hours in the sun to vote. I have stayed in kwara for sometime and sincerely have great dislike for saraki too, but i must be quick to acknowledge that the guy is popular. Yes he rigs elections but even without rigging the guy is popular in kwara, and my broda since the mechanic, motor park tout, the aged-almost-dying women in kwara are entitled to one vote like you even with your PHD, then until the man dies like Adedibu he will be the main kingmaker. The other problem is , those that claim to have broken free from saraki have not done anything substantial to justify that saraki really is the enemy of the people. Lawal started it but could not make any impact as people only saw those UP-LAWAL tanks that had no water in them. I think senator Ajadi was not saraki's boy he contested and defeated Ajibola who was saraki's candidate . The other important factor is the Ilorin emirate, that is very very comfortable with saraki as he is one of the key factors stopping the emergence of an Oba in Ilorin. The fact that you are from Offa too will most likely make you biased against Saraki. From the days of J.S olawoyin , the avergae Offa indigene does not like saraki and they show it at every opportunity. I remember once when saraki was coming from igosun to Ilorin and needed to connect the Offa-iLORIN road at that railway junction after owode market. Some youths blocked the road with weapons , that saraki would never be allowed to pass through their town. Infact it was a laughable scene as the guys dared mobile police men not minding that the road in question was a federal road. |
My people , I am of the feeling that before UMYA illness even GJ would have been regreting the decision to dump is governorship campaign for a Vp slot. In Nigeria when one considers the last days of Atiku and all of GJ time as Vp, you agree with me that a VP can be very very irrelevant. I know it gives national visibility but , it also brings one close to the end of his political career. After VP the only reasonable political aspiration is president and when that is not possible it ends ones political career. Now another governor is leaving the state for a VP slot. Do you really think it is really a wise decision? |
paddy_lo:Hmmmm. never knew. E be like say me self go go look for IMO girl o ![]() |
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Forget story. We seem to be overrating the office of VP in nigeria. Before UMYA illness even ministers were more powerful than GJ. If GJ is ready to perform a weak VP can not stop him, he has no choice than to learn to be a performer . The only ground where VP is really important is when the unexpected happens ,like UMYA's case. |
@paddy_lo You cant be so sure that if GJ contests he will sweep the South-east. The running mate of the opposition candidate will most likely be from the SE and that will really affect the results. Another angle is that an opposition candidate like ORJI KALU can contest and win some SE states which will affect GJ base negatively. |
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You sure? |
Gbawe:Even the PDP knows how delicate the issue at hand is. The big question is if the Pdp has to choose between the Zoning formular (even if the retention of the presidency in the north is actualised by another party) and suspending the zoning for now and place a bet on a candidate who with his national visibility and powers as the incumbent has a massive edge over the opposition, you can be sure they will go for the later. Ideally PDP would like a case where the zoning continues and the northern candidate that emerges runs on the strength of full presidential backing. In this case this seem almost impossible. If Jonathan does not get the ticket, then they should be prepared to risk the presidency as he will not give the emerging candidate any special support. This in itself will be suicidal for the politcal careers of a lot of people. Another angle to it is that , the returning governors on PDP ticket would have to prepare for a kind of election where no special support comes from the centre. On OBJ, please note that no serious minded presidential candidate can ignore OBJ for now. The north seem to hate him because they simply fear him. He knows nigeria enough to pull strings that will cut their unity which is their greatest political weapon to size. On OBJ deceiving Jonathan, I think he understands clearly how powerful the office of the president is. Jonathan's case is so different from Odili's case as the weapon OBJ used to coerce them to step down for UMYA , presently reside with GJ. |
@stuffs4me And you guys think Makarfi as vice will not be asked by the North to contest against his boss (GJ)? Have you guys also considered that going by media reports Makarfi's health is just as unstable as UMYA before he suffered a relapse and eventually died? I am almost sure GJ will run and he does not want any deputy that will use the national visibility that the VP offers to run against him in 2011. The clout of GJ as presidet alone is enough to stop IBB. Many see IBB as a very intelligent and bold general. I think the opposite is the case. Jonathan's interest alone will stop him. Ibb never goes into any battle with some 50% chance that he could loose. Forget GJ shooting himself in the foot. The hausa/fulani alone can not stop Jonathan. They need the support of the middlebelt and other northern minorities. If they show their disdain for GJ by rejecting a christian governor over KD, then GJ reaps from that divide. It is a simple as that. He then will almost be sure of total middlebelt and christian support from the north. |
mekuszyx:Abeg behave o. I do not have a problem if you have anything to grind with Yorubas, but my guy if you enter U.I side na big trouble you dey find o. |
^^^^^^^^^ Ok you just join NL? please get used to becomrich's maps . the thing don solve many problems for naija and abroad. ![]() |
Gekko:Abeg cool down. The same Nigerians that shout that elections in Nigeria are not credible, and that winners are not necessarily carrying the peoples mandate, are the same ones that berate some other politicians that they have never had the people's mandate, simply because they have not contested as the primary candidate in any election. Did Fashola win any previuos elections before he became governor? In Nigeria (at least for now), the deputy performs only the duties assigned to him by his boss, so GJ could as well leave him out of critical chores if he fails to show himself worthy. For those expecting some big miracle in the few months left in this administration, please think again. Even with very honest intentions , there is only so little GJ can do now. When you consider the minimum time requirement from initiation to harvest time for the critical areas we need him to look at, you will agree that much of the judgement can only be done in terms of direction and not necessarily tangible results. As for those asking about what GJ achieved in Bayelsa, we need to be reminded that he spent just about a year as governor. I do not think he performed badly, expecially when one considers that within six months he had to get in the election fights . I am learning to moderate my expectations from GJ, however i think his choice has some politcal value if he plans to run in 2011. I think it will be too tempting not to run. Forget all dis becomerich theories. |
rita@NL:make i laugh small first . what are you saying? have you seen the map of nigeria lately? have you ever seen a north-north ticket in poltics or a south-south ticket? so Jonathan should have picked a southerner? maybe Igbo or yoruba? Please and please we dont need a rocket scientist to tell us that it always had to be a northerner. While I am learning to moderate my expectations from GJ, I think this is a very wise political move, if he harbours any ambition for 2011. |
why is everyone mentioning Ribadu for VP and no reference to El-rufai. IMO El-rufai is broadbased and should be the man Joe appoints as VP. Ribadu is good but should be left in the corruption-fighting agencies of government. |
