Four soldiers and two naval officers have beaten three officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA into unconsciousness at Mile 2 area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

•One of the LASTMA officials battered by soldiers.

The LASTMA officers-Gbenga Ajayi-Bembe, Akeem Bisiriyu and Abiodun Kayode were battered by the military men while trying to tow a broken down trailer obstructing traffic at Mile 2.

They were immediately rushed to the Gbagada General Hospital for treatment where they were revived after remaining in a state of unconsciousness for sometime.

P.M. NEWS gathered that trouble started when the Head, Zone 5, LASTMA had asked Kayode, the LASTMA towing vehicle driver to go and tow a trailer, which broke down at Mile 2 ‘Oke.’

The owner of the trailer was said to have called in the soldiers and naval officers who came and gave Kayode the beating of his life.

The soldiers successfully removed the trailer that had already been carried by the towing van and drove off while Kayode contacted his boss to come to his rescue, and then chased after the fleeing trailer being driven by the soldiers.

Getting to First Gate, Mile 2, Kayode used his towing vehicle to block the trailer while the soldiers came down and descended on him and beat him mercilessly until he collapsed into a state of unconsciousness, while two other officers came to rescue him.

The other two officers-Ajayi- Bembe and Bisiriyu who came to rescue their colleagues were also thoroughly beaten until they also became unconscious while the soldiers and the naval officers took the trailer away.

Speaking with P.M. NEWS, Kayode narrated the story, saying that “my boss told me to go and tow a trailer which broke down at Mile 2 Oke.  I had already jacked the trailer into the towing van when the owner went to call two soldiers and they beat me up and removed the trailer from the van.

“I called my boss to come to my rescue and I pursued the trailer to first gate and blocked it.  More soldiers and naval officers came and they beat me until I fainted.

“They beat my two other colleagues into unconsciousness and they smashed the windscreen of the towing van.   I was soaked in blood before I passed out.   The area boys in the area also started throwing stones at us.”

The three LASTMA officers also sustained severe injuries.

As at the time of filing this report, Bisiriyu was still seriously in bad condition in the hospital as he could not talk.

Una dey see story?
When the very trailer that broke down  and being towed suddenly started working properly just because soldiers arrived and a LASTMA official had to chase the "formerly broken down trailer" to first gate from mile 2, then you know that these LASTMA officials are born to always tell lies.

Was it that engine of the trailer was waiting for the soldiers before starting? Ok even if that was the case, then why still insist on towing the vehicle after the engine started?

Infact those soldiers for really MEND dem well well.
BusinessAny Genuine Business For Someone With 500k? by naso2(op): 7:24pm On Jul 19, 2010
My people ,the  reality of the unemployement rate in the country stares me in the face every morning and night.  Dont get me wrong I have a job and not doing badly. Its with my younger brother who is a very bright graduate but jobless. I have been trying to talk him into doing business while he waits for the job or re-entry into the university for his masters.

I am ready to commit between 500k- 1m , but the problem is , he doesnt know what business to venture into, neither do I. The guy is ready to do any genuine business even some form of petty trading. shows how seriious he is.

Anyone with ideas on the kind of business he can look at? Only clean(genuine ) business please.

While I am of not sure of the actual sum, I have been curious even with the 3million. We are talking cash here. With the level of coverage of most banks and the ease  to transfer funds, I still find it difficult to understand the justification to carry that much money. Even traders no longer do that, so why should an "enlightened" journalist.

PoliticsRe: Ogbulafor, Maduekwe, Others Reject Kalu’s Return To Pdp by naso2(m): 1:49pm On Jul 19, 2010
Wise move by Abia PDP.

At the moment Kalu, like Atiku is a liability. If the PDP wants to sustain any chance of clinching victory in 2011 at the governorship elections , they must keep Orji kalu at bay. He is what people call "bad market"

Is this not the same kalu that took on Atiku in the dailies in the wake of Atiku's rumoured return to PDP after the eye-catching otta visit?

Atiku on the other hand is luckier, as he now hides under the "ZONING MUST STAY" UMBRELLA to seek some relevance in the north.

Politics2011: North In Fresh Dilemma Over Jonathan •senators Want Ibb, Buhari, Atiku Out by naso2(op): 8:44am On Jul 19, 2010
POLITICAL stakeholders in the North are said to have reached a fresh crossroads over the bid by the zone to present the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2011 elections.

Sources in Abuja told the Nigerian Tribune that the new thinking in the North was that it would be difficult for the North to produce a candidate that would win the 2011 elections in a free and fair contest on the ticket of the PDP.

It was learnt that the different think tanks that had been mandated to work on the 2011 presidency project had returned with the verdict that the job had been made difficult by the emergence of Dr. Jonathan as president.

Said one source close to the decision makers: “If we are talking of raising a candidate in the PDP, who do we have that can win election in a free and fair contest? We don’t have a candidate that has no blemish here and there.

“To cap the whole thing, President Jonathan is the incumbent, even if the PDP fails to give him the ticket, he can move to another party and win the seat if he is bent on continuing in office.”

The source said it was difficult for the North in the time left before the election to raise a candidate without a blemish.

“What is gaining the ground right now is that if the North is serious, we have to do away with faces like Ibrahim Babangida, Muhammadu Buhari and even former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

“None of them can really provide strong opposition to President Jonathan, because they are seen to have liabilities here and there and Jonathan is seen as a new kid on the block,” another source said.

In the same vein, the Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF), at its meeting last week, has also come to the same conclusion.

Sources close to the meeting told the Nigerian Tribune that the senators had started discussions with key stakeholders in the North over the 2011 presidential race.

It was gathered that the group, being led by former national chairman of the PDP, Chief Solomon Lar, had met with the senators last week, ostensibly to woo them in supporting the aspiration of President Jonathan.

Sources in the National Assembly said the former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana and a former national chairman of the party, Chief Barnabas Gemade, led the team of friends of the North to the meeting with the senators.

It was gathered that though the senators asked the team to give them time to sort out the zoning controversy, members later held a meeting where the issue of a Jonathan presidency was critically analysed.

Meanwhile, Northern youths, on Sunday said zoning was not in the interest of poor northerners and advised that the electorate should be encouraged to get the best crop of leadership starting from the local government to the presidency in 2011.

The youth, under the auspices of the Arewa Youth Forum (AYF), said poor northerners, irrespective of their religion, ethnicity and political affiliations, had no place in the hearts of the northern elite.

The national president of the AYF, Alhaji Ibrahim Gujungu, who spoke on behalf of the youth, told the northern electorate that there was the need for them to negotiate what he called their social contract with candidates who would bring about sound leadership with the fear of God and commitment in changing the country for good.

Nigeria’s presidency, according to him, was no longer for sale or an exclusive belonging or inheritance of the same elite and argued that what mattered most was what the intelligent and industrious ones could offer the nation.

honestly if you are being this upset over a girl asking you to speak to her on the phone durring a soccer game shows you truely do care about soccer more then her. when faced with two options regardless of what they are, a person will always gravitate to teh one he/she feels is more valuable to them. if you gravitate to soccer as opposed to your girl then you value the game more. you need to re-evaluate your priorities and relationships in the future. for you girls sake i hope she doesnt call you in an emergency durring a soccer game, youd probably "warn" her never to interup again
while i see that a lot of posters have endorsed my actions , i will want to quickly state that , that is not my intent here.

Your post however does not seem to appraise the issues fairly. By overall ranking i do not place football higher than her in any sense. But we must always balance urgency with importance at any time. We are talking 90 mins here my sista.

I have had a few times when i called her and she responded by saying, " eh can we talk in the next hour? I am consumed by some other concerns now" and I say fine we talk later.

Another point is the angle of distraction,. We all know that this "love" conversations need maximum concentration, so why would a time when there is an important match be the time to talk?
I have not added that most times i do the talking , hence when i am distrated the conversation is always dry.

LET THE GIRL GO AND HUG A TRANSFORMER!

If she feels that the best way for you to show that you value her is to distract you when you just need 90 minutes. Hugging a transformer will definitely knock some sense into her.

I like football, if i watch a match that my team looses and i feel sad, i cannot apologise for it, Yes sometimes we guys go to the extreme when things don't go our way but a sensible woman would learn to use such opportunities to help us better channel our positive or negative energy or emotions.

Please @poster, you better be careful and not lead yourself into a trap. Sooner or later it will go from football to a variety of other things and you can be sure, if she has a way now, other things will become a norm, she will even tell you to leave your phone on in a plane, or in church, LOL

IBB is a very clever man. This is not the first time he is seemingly pulling out of a presidential race. Why spend so much money campaigning then to pull out later?

He knows he is evil and so many people would lick their lips to see his head on a plate. I believe this is his bargaining tool to propagate himself as a free man.

Besides, why should the presidents` and not IBBs spokesperson be announcing this?
You understand how this things work. He surely will be reinbursed "good measure, pressed down , shaking together and running over".

In the backdoor negotiations to make him pull out, he will then make them know how much he has commited to the coming elections and will be setlled big time. Besides he will use that to bargain for some key slots for his supporters.
PoliticsRe: Ibb Backs Out Of 2011! by naso2(m): 9:35am On Jul 16, 2010
It is still mere speculation so no one should rejoice yet. I however know that IBB is not as brave as he appears. He will never go into any battle where he has less than 90% assurance of victory, so contesting against an incumbent amidst the division in the north presently does not in any way help his case. I somehow feel he will not contest

That simply was the reality on ground in South Africa. Imagine 7 of the 10 out-field players in the Spanish team play for Barca. The others we Capdevilla, Ramos and Alonso. Assuming it were Barca we would have had players like Messi, Alves, Toure and Abidal also in the team who arguably are better players.
Spain and the world owe their thanks to the dream team that is Barca and who are poised to win the La liga again next season.
So you are saying that the UCL is higher and more difficult to win than the WC? else how do you explain Barca's inability to win the last UCL?
PoliticsRe: Of Criticism, Progressivism And Political Puritanism by naso2(m): 4:31pm On Jul 14, 2010
@sd-6

I differ slightly. there is nothing wrong in a critic taking up a political challenge. A critic can aspire to the highest office in the land and I am kool with that, provided he has(will) not sacrifice the very ideals he preaches. Mandela became president and since there is no evidence of corruption, racial discrimination and other ills he fought against in the aparthied govt, then he retains my utmost respect.

My problem however is with the agbakobas of this world that will not cease to state corruption as the bane of our country in every seminar, yet finds it safe to be orji uzo kalu's mouthpiece at a fee.

The smart Adeyemi's that we saw as progressives in his NUJ days are now drinking tea. Need i mention Olusegun Adeniyi?

And that brings us to sayin that no man's intergrity is water tight and that men whose reputations lived were just lucky that there secret compromises were never discovered,
Some how you are correct but not completely. Our(nigeria) case is just special. A lot of these people only exploite the cheap route to popularity by being critics , then when the opportunity for "gain" comes, the real man shows up. Its not same as when a man has these values "wired" in him but falters occassionaly under pressure.
PoliticsRe: Of Criticism, Progressivism And Political Puritanism by naso2(m): 10:44am On Jul 14, 2010
Infact I just feel a lot of the "progressives" we have do not really believe in  what they present to the public. I think I respect Gani as he is much better than the lot.  A journalist once asked Gani why he did not drop the title "chief"  in line with his claim that he would never bow to any traditional ruler becuase of their romance with govt, and the dearth of truth in the modern day rulers?

Olisa Agbakoba is just one other person that i cant place. when the same man that was able to direct the traffic of international sympathy his way, for the bouts he has had with enforcement agents in the struggle, is the same person that poses in defence of the ALL CORRUPT orji uzo kalu for the sake of lucre. Then you will agree that some of them(critics) just have a few friends in the media that project them in good light , in real sense , they are equally  as bad as those we have tagged "evil"

If you say GEJ needs to step up his game, I will agree with you. But hey maladministration? how?. I think we are making some progress, maybe not as fast as we hoped for, but if anyone expected GEJ to change in 1 yr  what OBJ could not do in 8yrs and UMYA had no clues for in 3 yrs then i cant help but laugh.

First of all, i'd like to commend the poster for his insight and also condem those who have disparaged this post; because they're blind and shallow minded and if i read the post correctly, the poster said nothin of ibb. Why then would u numbskulls say he is supportin him? Indeed GEJ has nothin, absolutely nothin to offer. I heard some of u eulogizin him when he came to power but now its clear u all were wrong. Look at the niger delta in a mess: no infrastructural development, the south-east: beacon of insecurity. Nw his concerns are centered on his return. What manner of leadership ineptitude is this?
And it never occured to you that people criticising the poster might be seeing beyond this thread? and you even had the effrontery to label people dumd?

see some of the previous comments of the poster

IBB is simply the best person to lead this country at this point. Anything else will be the same old story and a complete waste of time.
There will never be a clean or a perfect politician in Nigeria; these folks are all the same and there is nothing ridiculous that IBB has done that no one else in this country (politician or average citizen) hasn't done before.
Do not fool yourselves, there is nobody else at this point in this country that can move this nation forward effectively and efficiently than the one and only IBB, and many politicians in Nigeria clearly know this fact. But we (citizens) are too foolish to see through the light.

IBB still has what it takes to make beautiful things happen quickly in Nigeria. He is determined, he knows exactly how to put the right tools together to elevate this country from the floor to the top. He will do miracle, he will surprise many, he will clean up the past and mold a better future.
Picking anybody else will be nothing but a complete waste of time

Yes, they did Africa proud. Excellent host they were .  No serious crime report as many of us feared prior to the start of the competition. Excellent contingency planning and very impressive turn out at match venues even after SA were eliminated in the first round. Once again I say thank you to SA.

Yes you guys did it. At least you helped save our face. This would have turned out the worst performance for Africa in any world cup. Africa was at the brink of not producing any second round team, but you guys stood out and stood tall. Even in the quarters when you left the stage you gave it all. You showed great African spirit.
