Yes he played consistently in the french league , sochaux(i think) before moving to austria , My fear with him is that at crucial times his reaction might just be a little slower than what is required. |

Dr Kitaun: Make una cool down jare . . .
What KANU and UTAKA can offer in d twinkling of an eye Eneramo, Obasi and Ideye cant give . . .these boys are gud enuff for their clubs, country nko ? U guys shouldnt be surprised that Utaka is in good shape and alongside Lukmon Haruna would take d world by surprise! Thank you jare. I miss APAM for sure because i would prefare an APAM-ADELEYE pair in the central defence any day, but if he is injured then the coach is helpless. |
Sports › Re: Why Hiring Largerbeer To Coach Supereagles by naso2(m): 9:47am On Jun 01, 2010 |
Forget all dis talk. A good coach can use this same "tired" legs to get results. Scolari made chelsea players all look like tired legs. Guus hidink turned same team around without buying a single player. |
Sports › Re: Official Victor Anichebe Injured by naso2(m): 9:43am On Jun 01, 2010 |
I was very impressed with what anichebe did against saudi too, but if he is injured then what can a coach do? A lot of us did not believe in him this much before the saudi game. Some are even comparing mikel's injury with anichebe, forget all that talk. Even a coach as big as capello is prepared to take a half-fit gareth barry ahead of carrick. Mikel at the moment is one of our biggest players in terms of experience in high-profile matches, and doctors from club and country have certfied him fit. Another aspect we seem to be forgetting is the scores players get from their performance in training. Some of the players we feel are not good enough may have done excellently in training. Ibime: Which injury are they talking about? Anichebe has been holding first team shirt at Everton for the past 4 months. I dont think so. |

Sagamite: So the difference from Amodu's team are:
Adeleye Afolabi Haruna Utaka A good coach can still take the entire amodu 23-man team and perform much better than he did at ANC. |
Sports › Re: Dropped Nigerian Players! by naso2(m): 12:59pm On May 31, 2010 |
Sagamite: I would rather take Anichebe than Obasi, and I would rather take Peter Utaka than John Utaka. While I am surprised too that anichebe was dropped. we must not forget that performance during training sessions also form a major part of the input here. Largerback says he has had 7 training sessions with the team. Anichebe did well against saudi, but that might have been a one-off performance. |

^^^^^^^^^^ why ? the list looks very very close to what i would have done as coach.
The only thing i do not understand is why he chose to play kaita out of position in all the friendlies. |
Sports › Re: Honeric,semid4lyfe,andrew Other Pls Rate Taiye Taiwo In D Match Against Colombia by naso2(m): 12:05pm On May 31, 2010 |
honeric01: Taiye Taiwo is the worse back tracker Nigeria has ever had lol, he's good at pacing forward but VERY bad at coming back to cover up, he is so slow and tracking back and i just don't know why he does that way.
His best position IMO is to be played as an 11, nothing short of that, he's now becoming too blunderbuss playing as a LB. What i expect is for the DMs to fill the vacant space when he overlaps and not placing all the blame on him for not backtracking. E be like say some of us no know say that field big, and na gas dem use dey play dis thing. |

domorehill: I am writing from London and so far Coach Lagerback have been able to have 22 names out of his 23 man squard and the team just have one more place to be filled and below is the list of players so far assured of their place in the World cup bound team in South African 2010. (However Peter Utaka is the Coach chief joker and that the reason he has not used him in any friendly,Coach Lagerback knows his worth, other like Onyekachi Apam and mikel Obi are also in the team and so did not need the friendly so they can rest fully after brief injury to the duo).
Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel),Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda, Israel),Austin Ejide (Hapoel Petah Tikva, Israel), Taye Taiwo (Olympique Marseille, France),Chidi Odiah (CSKA Moscow, Russia),Ayodele Adeleye (Sparta Rotterdam, Netherlands),Rabiu Afolabi (SV Salzburg, Austria), Onyekachi Apam (OG Nice, France),Joseph Yobo (Everton, England), Osaze Odemwingie (Lokomotiv Moscow, Russia),Dickson Etuhu (Fulham, England),Mikel Obi (Chelsea, England), Chinedu Obasi (TSG Hoffenheim, Germany), Haruna Lukman (AS Monaco, France),Peter Utaka (Odense Boldklub, Denmark),Kalu Uche (Almeria, Spain),Yusuf Ayila (Dynamo Kiev, Ukraine) Obinna Nsofor (Malaga, Spain),Obafemi Martins (Wolfsburg, Germany), Victor Anichebe (Everton, England),Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Everton, England), Ikechukwu Uche (Real Zaragoza, Spain). The one slot left will be between the rest players Bassey Akpan (Bayelsa United, Nigeria),Elderson Echiejile (Rennes, France),Terna Suswan (Lobi Stars, Nigeria),Brown Ideye (FC Sochaux, France),John Utaka (Portsmouth, England),Daniel Shittu (Bolton Wanderers, England),Sani Kaita (Alaniya, Russia), (Nwankwo Kanu, (Portsmouth, England). I thought peter utaka played against saudi. Its a pity no home based player will make it this time again. Let him give the last spot to kanu abeg. Elderson echiejile has been very woeful lately, but does that mean we are going with just one left back? |

Sports › Re: Essien Ruled Out Of World Cup by naso2(m): 2:59pm On May 28, 2010 |
snowdrops: Others believe that Essien's misfortune is karmic payback for the way he treats his estranged 77-year-old father, James.
James Essien, who lives in a mud house in rural Ghana and is in poor health, told Ghana's Daily Guide earlier this month that he has not seen his son for 15 years and attempts to contact him have been met with silence.
Despite the poor relationship, James Essien said he was devastated by his son's misfortune.
"I am disappointed that he (Essien) will not take part in the World Cup, I was so sad when I heard it," told Citi Eyewitness News.
"I have not eaten since I heard that he will not be with the team in South Africa."
But some Ghanians are unconvinced by the father's expression of sympathy.
Belief in witchcraft is still widespread in Ghana - and many other African nations. More than a few fans said they thought the old man had used juju to ensure his son would not play in the World Cup.
FROM IOL.CO.ZA There is also this theory of the girl he jilted after traditional marriage and a whole lot of people are wishing him the very worst. I dont know how true this one is any way. |

Fifa will ensure that football does not come to that level of disrepute. He has just given Fifa an excuse to work against his team at the crucial stages of the competition. |
Sports › Re: Essien Ruled Out Of World Cup by naso2(m): 11:55am On May 28, 2010 |
I think GFA gets all the blame for this, they always want to risk a player's career in the name of loyalty to national call. Essien spent seven months nursing an injury in the penultimate season. An injury he sustained while on national duty. Everyone saw it as an arm of fate then.
Last season after sustaining an injury before the nations cup, everyone expected the GFA to pipe low and at least allow him recover fully, but no, they rushed him to the ANC and made him play a high tempo match against CIV and the rest is history now. I am not saying , honouring national call is bad, but as a career person, and for GFA as a responsible organisation , the players career should be considered in tines like this. I hope they learn this painful lesson rightly. |

SLIGHT: Unless the hausas of the north arent subjected to their place in nigerian politics, they will continue to enjoy political domination in nigeria, lets learn from our ghananian brothers; the ashantis, ewe etc they make sure the hausas dont dominate politics in ghana, we should act like them b4 the hausas rule 4 another 40yrs But the case is different here. The hausas though as troublesome as they are in nigeria , are by far a minority group in Ghana. |
