another thing is

@aish2 and oyb
this is a wonderul thread
please you guys should not start quarel here

sure mentoring is a good idea though not popular in nigeria at the moment

but we here in nairaland can start it and before you know it the culture will spread round

I CURRENTLY HAVE A MENTOR and AM MENTORING SOMEONE ALSO

its all about the popluar quotes one of my professors gave to my class when we were graduating

"GIVE FREELY OF THAT WISH COSTS YOU NOTHING"

though mentoring may cost you something like "your time" but its vital to give it freely

keep the good work up guys

LiteratureRe: Between Achebe And Soyinka? by ndubest(m): 11:36am On Nov 21, 2007
ACHEBE?? OR SOYINKA??

penfold:
This is an issue that has caused sabres to be drawn in many a literary review class,

However, its instructive to know that Chinua Achebe has won every and i repeat every major and international prize in the literary world except the nobel prize, while Wole Soyinka, while not having the same plethora of awards however has the only one that matters (?) in his kitty!!!

The question then is: By what yardstick, what criteria do we compare them, personally, i believe that until Achebe wins the Nobel Prize, it is not fair to both authors to compare either their persons or their works!!!
It depends on your view of literature

if you see it from the simplistic point of view of an ordinary citizen without plethora of vocabulary at your disposal, then Chinua is the man
If you see literature from the sophisicated (and i dare say GRE LANGUAGE) point of views you ve got Wole as the man

for me I tip Chinua
LiteratureRe: Cyprian Ekwensi Dies At 86 by ndubest(m): 11:00am On Nov 21, 2007

alive for our national development NOT just eulogising them whe they are dead

MAY HIS GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE

we still have the likes of chinua achebe, chike obi, sam ale, wole soyinka etc, alive

RomanceRe: Did I Steal My Friend's Girlfriend? by ndubest(m): 8:45am On Nov 21, 2007
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD
look before you leap

i want to believe you are familiar with these quotes

My candid advice to you to make sure u find out the truth about all that transpired b/w ur friend and ur fiancee

if not your friend may be blacking mailing your wife in future and extorting you

even if it mean talking to them seperating and then bring them together to iron out issues

you have definitely made up your mind to marry her but CORRECT INFORMATION ABOUT HER PAST will make living with her easier and also prevent "HAD I KNOWN IN FUTURE"

good luck my guy, LOVE IS BLIND BUT I SEE GOOD

PoliticsRe: Government Rejects US Military Base In Nigeria by ndubest(m): 4:33pm On Nov 20, 2007
I personally have no beef against the Americans

but i think this is post independence era and we dont need more colonial masters

the Americans want to set up military base everywhere to monitor everyone as the "world police"

i think what we need in africa is industries as tool to fight the war against terrorism

any right thing person who is gainful empolyed will not be thinking of terrorist act

but the scourge of unemployment and our poverty level is driving such action

SO AMERICANS CAN DO A LOT FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM BY SETTING UP INDUSTRIES ACROSS THE CONTINENT AS A MEANS PF FIGHTIN TERRORISM

but i dont really understand this concept considering the complain that america forces in Iraq and Afghasnistan are over strectched
so where will they get men for this new base they are talking about

ALL HAIL YAR ADUA!!! AND COMPANY FOR TAKING A DECISIVE STAND ON THIS ISSUE rather than playing to the gallery

@poster

any way i wish you all the best but i think we have great talents in this country

HealthRe: Abortion Pills by ndubest(m): 11:15am On Nov 20, 2007
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
BEST PREVENTION?

A B S T I N E N C E

end of story

peolpe are just talking about drugs and abortion in this thread like its "akara and bread" matter

@poster
the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of different drugs varies in individual especially we africans because most of the studies you read on the net about these drugs are done with caucasians or asian and the way they react to drugs varies from our system

most of the sudies are conducted on them because they know their rights and have an organised system where peolpe "DONATE" themselves as guinea pig for drug trials

i advise you to avoid any of these abortificacents or what ever name u give. them, as u enjoy your youth dont forget that old age is coming except if u want to die young, and them the effect of these "CHEMICALS" will catch up with you

SportsRe: Which Football Club Should I Support And Why? by ndubest(m): 10:56am On Nov 20, 2007
@POSTER
WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A CLUB TO JOIN
IT DEPENDS ON YOUR MIND SET
do u want it to win at all cost
do u want it for free flowing game
do u want it for the passion of the fan
do u want it for the beauty of the stadium
do u want it for the style of the coach
do u want it for a particular player you love his style of play
do u want it for what the club stands for

put these questions and answers together in your head and then make your choice

AM A BARCELONA FAN
WHY?

THE ONLY CLUB IN THE WORLD THAT DEEM IT FEET TO SUPPORT, PAY AND PROMOTE THE IDEALS OF UNICEF after being without shirt sponsor for over 100yrs, thats charity and passion for me

coupled with the sweet free flowing dutch TOTAL FOOTBALL, u will just love it with arguably some of the best talents the world can boast of at the moment

forget the screaming and passionate shouting of fan in this thread

watch your team and follow your heart
CareerRe: Joining The Military: Solution To Unemployment? by ndubest(m): 9:48am On Nov 20, 2007
military is not for the UNEMPLOYEDhuh?
I AGREE WITH YOUR GUYS

BUT WHY IS THE MILITARY CURRENTLY ENTICING UNEMPOLYED YOUNG GRADUATES WITH OFFICERS POSITION AFTER SIX MONTH IN NDA?
may be they should stop that to avoid desperate graduates getting there and being frustrated in life

@poster, bro if u want to go in, better get mentally and physically ready for it
