Obinoscopy: My advice for APC: don't field Buhari if ever u want to wrestle power from PDP. Infact PDPs prayer wld be for APC to field Buhari so that they can use propaganda to defeat him in the elections. Christians are not comfortable with that man called Buhari and PDP wld capitalise on it. My recommendation: they shld field Ribadu or a northern governor who has performed above average. This way they will stand a chance. There is no reason to believe that, if he runs, Buhari will lose the states he won during the last election. I submit to you that, as the APC candidate, he will win Edo, most of the SW states, and one or two more states in the SE, in addition to the ones he won in the North during the last election. GEJ or anyone else will be defeated by such showing. No? |
Nwanne, its being a long time. How u dey. Anyway, I do not have a "latent", lol, wish for the demise of "our great country." If there's any "latent" wish in Nigeria, I believe its yours - your wish to have power by all means. Nwanne, the issue is your wish not mine. If you kick it down a notch I think things 'll fine, but if you don't then we will part ways soon.
Kedu nwanne m. I've missed you here. Don't stay away, we need your refreshing views. ![]() |
Whoever wins in 2015 is, perhaps, inconsequential. I believe what should worry folks who think they own Nigeria is whether the votes 'll be along ethnic or regional lines. If it is, then its either GEJ goes back or its bye bye to Nigeria. The heat, sabotage, incitement, hate, religious violence, and political brinkmanship that'll ensue could unravel the myth of One Nation. Nigeria of yesterday is over. The one we have now is more cracked than it's ever been before. And I suppose those who love it with all their might should equally do their all to avoid this impending manifestation of our agelong faultline. I remember reading Macbeth in high school and always pondering on the relationship between prediction and fulfillment. If my memory serves me right, Macbeth, in the book, was told by the 3 weird sisters that he would be king thereafter and, right or wrong, he eventually became king. One could argue that if he hadn't heard the 3 weird sisters, maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't have rammed things in a flash like he did, maybe natural justice would've rewarded him with the throne. Why is this story important - Ok, let me land it. Its important when you look at the prediction that Nigeria may not survive 2015. Prediction can set an action rolling if the "actioners" are, overtly or covertly, seeking for the same outcome for which the "predictioner" has predicted. Whoever wants to keep Nigeria alive post 2015 must make sure 2015 election is not a sectional one that has GEJ on the losing side.Umunna, chukwu gozie unu.
Your doomsday scenario and latent wish for the demise of our great country will, Insha Allah, never come to pass. Nigeria will move forward with or without the support of pessimists. If GEJ loses the election, that is if he is actually contests, nothing will happen. There will be noise from some disgruntles and jobless youths from SS and that will be that. I predict that drones would have been made available to Nigeria by then - the kind that can penetrate deep into the strongholds of terrorist groups deep in the North and the creeks of the South. |
One of these will come to pass in 2015: (1)GEJ gets another term (2)A Northerner becomes the President of the great country of Nigeria No need to waste time debating impossibilities. Policewoman, kedu, nwanyi maramma. |
The answer is YES. It will happen after the deaths of the IBB, OBJ, Danjuma, Anenih, and other powerful men of that their generation - the "owners of Nigeria" |
ACM10: Being internationally accepted does not make it locally accepted. By the way, who set the standard. One of the hallmark of standard is that it must be acceptable to the parties involved. You cannot impose your standard on me, you can only modify your standard to accomodate me. The fact that it is widely used in many literature works does not change the derogatory nature of it. The people in question don't want it. Act a gentleman and respect their wish.I think we can all agree that Achebe has more credibility than you do, as far as the affairs of Ibos are concerned. If the word Ibo is OK by Achebe, who are you to complain. I reproduce an excerpt from page 154 of Achebe's book "Arrow of God": www.nairaland.com/attachments/1018835_achebe_jpge034b51e03af88a21a23786a0b97b1e7 Case closed. ![]() |
Ngwakwe: If Seun want those words off the forum why don't him programme his system to auto correct them. This is the sensible approach that should have been implemented quietly, in the first place, instead of arbitrarily conjuring up senseless rules. My criticisms are meant to be constructive. |
ACM10: Why is it so difficult for you guys to understand? Majority of us considers the term "Ibo" derogatory. You cannot choose a name for us without our consent. Get that into your skull. Brits gave us the bastardized form of Igbo because there is no "gb" in their alphabets. We, in turn gave them the name "Oyibo". Now, tell me how David Cameron will feel if you refer to him as Oyibo in formal or informal setting?Come out of the bush!!! There are world-wide standards which apply to these kinds of issues and which are accepted internationally. I do understand that following rules is not your strong point as evident throughout NL. |
ACM10: There is no point in it. We have the right to determine if a name is derogatory or not. What does it take someone to refer to us as Igbos(written as pronounced)?I'm afraid that the mods in this section have inadvertently created more conflicts among section posters by imposing some of these rules which were apparently not well thoughtout. Ibo has never been considered a derogative term and its usage is recognized world-wide. To the best of my knowledge, Yoruba is not a word in any language or recognized by any world language body. Banning the use of the word Aboki when referring to Northerners is equally senseless. Aboki means friend in Hausa. Enough of these senseless rules please. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1018775_ibo_jpg4fbeb74d612db4c7008b6ca6e732cc85 |
Ngwakwe: We are going no where. As long as I, my children and my people still recite Nigerian Pledge.abi you have turned to a blind bat ni? You are supposed to read my post, not the one above mine. Now return to the link and read the correct post ![]() |
@Ngwakwe. Oa o ife m gwalu ya ![]() |
Ngwakwe: @Ndu_ChucksApologies to the mods. I did not spend much time there, but I will check it out. It is unacceptable to call fellow citizens migrant workers. Whatnonesense!! |
Duru1: This is a shameful tribal prosecution. Even during the formative years of gbomogbomo, the chase was not as diabolical as seen on Nairaland.Very funny. This poster reminds me of one Mr Gull. www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 |
Why are they wasting their time arresting this man for offering his opinion, when they should be pursuing Jama'atu Ansarul Musilimina Fi Biladis Sudan and their foreign sponsors? |
Ibime: This girl bush and unsophisticated no be small.shatap dia. The girl is lovely and 100% African, unlike the fake hostesses you people worship. To people like you, quality means giving up your Africanness for oyinbo accents and attires. dolo |
omonnakoda: I am the moderatorlol, ok o. My answer is Yes and No. Yes to the primary Question and No to the implied one. |
Sincere 9gerian: Your post can only be summarized in one word- SENSELESSshatap dia, you ignorant bigot. The group responsible is Jama'atu Ansarul Musilimina Fi Biladis Sudan, the same group which attacked our troops in Kogi state, on their way to Mali - this is not Boko Haram. This is a more dangerous group with international links and their operations in Nigeria should be deemed an invasion by their foreign sponsors who are known or should be known to GEJ's government. Disgruntled home grown unhappy youths who become MEND or Boko Haram can and should be given amnesty and reassimilated into society, but this new group should not be handled with kids gloves Open your eyes and let go of this unnecessary effeminate emotionalism. |
This is not Boko Haram who need to be given amnesty and reabsorbed into society. If this group is indeed based in Nigeria, then the President has failed woefully by siting idly and allowing the group to flourish. Its time for GEJ to go, we can't afford to wait until his incompetence and outright cluelessness destroys our country. hmmm, attempting to shut Dede1 up is equivalent to ordering sheep to run around without their wool. Let the guy be. |
hmm, I see some people gloating over this human rights abuse disguised as progress in the name of development. Ndiigbo governors, biko, find a similarly configured market in the East, operated predominantly by offemmanus and raze the socker to the ground in the name of development. Abi you people can't find such a market ni? Enough of the whining, its time to respond in kind. |
Do not be afraid to answer your own question. So get the ball rolling, provide your answer, and I'll provide my trivial answer thereafter. |
omonnakoda: ENANG MADE A CLAIM HAS HE PROVED ITThe answer is NO. This is the koko of the matter which many posters are unable to grasp because of bigotry and tribalism. |
Pure Orchestration |
Frankly, it is an exercise in futility to argue (discuss) exchange rate and monetary policy without the ability to define each term, let alone understand the terms. Basically, an exchange rate (also known as the foreign-exchange rate, forex rate or FX rate) between two currencies is the rate at which one currency will be exchanged for another. Nuff said |
Noiseless2: Malam Hellish Rufai aka NDU_CHUCKS, this was what you and your boko haram cohorts in the senate house should have been asking, how i wish you could honest enough to tell the whole world, cos you were the ones who defined them and the same ones who gave them as gifts to your kiths and kin, and you were the same people who gave a paltry 17% to the entire south, now the people know not only how greedy you northerners are but also how heartless and devilish you lots are.Mallam The onus is on those of you who claim that Northerners own 80% of oil blocks, to provide us with proof. Since you continue to prove that you are brainless, let me remind you that the Nigerian government owns a piece of every oil block through its agents such as NNPC. Additionally, foreign investors such as Shell own substantial percentage of the blocks, so to claim that one non governmental group in Nigeria owns 80% of our oil blocks is a fat lie and a ploy to stir up hatred. You people have failed once again. Continue to bury your heads in the mud, mumu www.nairaland.com/attachments/648223_rak_jpg3be10a689dcae3eda0158a90666e866e |
There doesn't appearto be much love between the SEners and their neighbors as clearly shown by Truckpusher's honest exchanges here. |
In fairness to Fashola, there may be a culture of filth evident in traders from the East. Here are some pictures from Ariara market in Aba taken a couple of years ago. The market is in worse deplorable state as of last month - Okorocha and fellow SE governors should address that major health hazard. https://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm290/VUchendu/photo_0006-1.jpg na wa https://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm290/VUchendu/photo_0007.jpg Allah Sarki https://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm290/VUchendu/photo_0008.jpg |
For example, the accumulation of money by the Federal Government is a misplaced objective for these times. Our driving purpose must be to channel idle human and material capacity into productive streams that furnish jobs and manufacture tangible goods bettering the living conditions of every citizen
Err, this first sentence of the above quote shows lack of understanding of certain monetary policies and principles. The money being "accumulated" by the Feds is necessary to support our foreign exchange. As soon as you deplete the reserves, the Naira could go as low as $1 = N1000 overnight. Nigeria's currency is not supported by certain predetermined commodities and/or precious metals which could enable anyone to determine its daily value, neither is it pegged against the dollar or even the yuan. I agree with the second sentence but we can't simply spend the reserves to accomplish this. BTW: Ojuyobo's book is a great read. |
Tunjman: Whether from North, South, East or West, we are all branches of the same tree. Whether in the same or different political parties, we are members of the same national family.Me like. ![]() |
Duru1: Are you not the same airhead that melancholically deduced the whole world fought Biafra? The southern collaborators, Demdem referred in his\her post, are the jackasses who joined northern region of Nigeria to prosecute war against eastern region because of crude oil.Err, we all know that the real reason why you people started the killings and war, was to seize the oil and keep it all while you enslave mid-west and non Igbos in the area. Tell your lies elsewhere. dolo |
