@playmode & Beaf, Its quite a shame that you people choose fight and hold grudges here on NL, where both of you are faceless. You may be neighbors, siblins, or even blood relatives in real life and should be ashameds of yourselves for letting a faceless forum get the best out of you, on a beautiful Saturday. May I recommend that you take a chill pill, find a nice woman and make passionate love to her. If you are too mean in real life to find one, for pete's sake buy a few condoms (and viagra - I suspect you will definitely need that) and look for a correct Karuwa. awon olodo rabata. Get your personal fights da heck out of here, it is sickening!! geeeeettttttooooout!!! ![]() |
Beaf:You spoilt your otherwise reasonable comments with the bolded text above. Stop lumping all "core Northerners" into the same stereotypical and deplorable bucket and we may begin to take you seriously. You are better off thinking like a nationalist. |
@oyb et al. Thank you for making my point without the realization that you did so. You admit in your example that if you can prove that you are a residence of a state (usually 6 months residency is all that is required) then you are entitles to all rights as every other resident of that state. I submit to you that the diabled Deltans in question, would more than pass the residency requirement which you used in your example and therefore be entitled to state benefits, if they lived in the state of your example. Unfortuneately, our system at home is still backwards just like the views of many on this thread, hence the unsophisticated and heartless stance by many posters here. |
Those of you who are claiming that the handicapped 'migrants' from Delta were rightfully ejected from Ekiti because they left Dalta because of lack of help from Delta state, are very wrong. One would hope that some day, you people would be enlightened enough to understand that citizenry includes the right to move to any state within Nigeria, for whatever reason one chooses. The more shameful part of this affair is that many of the posters here, live abroad where they are accorded the same rights which they believe citizens in Nigeria do not deserve. Many of you people left the shores of Nigeria because of lack of educational opportunities - how would you feel if your countries of residence such as USA, refuse to give you those opportunities because your government did not provide the same to you? You all sound like a bunch of small minded and unsophisticated bigots. If you move to a state and live in the state as a good tax paying citizen, you should be accorded the same rights as the 'indigenes' of the state. It is simply backwards to do otherwise/ |
anonimi:Please do not attempt to make the ridiculous claim that Tinubu is not charged with a crime. Breaking any law is a crime, whichever way you look at it, so where CCT is trying Tinubu for breaking the law, they are essentially conducting a criminal trial. Surely you are not claiming that this is a civil trial, are you? Tinubu may not have been charged with participating in the type of crimes handled by EFCC, but he is definitely on trial and charged with criminal offenses, thus this trial is a criminal trial. This trial will be moved to lagos state where Tinubu would easily fight and bribe his way out of jail. You know it, I know it, GEJ knows it, and even blind men know it. |
Prof. Itse Sagay SAN “Under Criminal Law, a person is to be tried at the place where the offence was committed. That was why James Ibori’s case was transferred from Kaduna to Delta State. Although I have not read the details, but if that is the reason his counsel has given, then he is right.” We all know what happened to Ibori's case after the trial was moved to Delta state. If I were on Tinubu's team, I would have advised him to let the trial continue since, as claimed, all charges against Tinubu, are baseless and without merit. The trial location should not matter if indeed this is an open and shut case. e be like say dis Tinubu go go prison sooner or later. |
Unless these people have been documented as living in Ekiti State for a substantial period of time (doubtful, I'm guessing), then someone else needs to take care of them.
ekun_bear, what period in your opinion constitutes "substantial period of time". IMO, 2 years should be enough. |
Onlytruth:This boy is always attempting to make himself seem important, you know Reno, ko? Next time tell us that you were also Ojukwu's boi boi so that we may believe that you were close to the great one. olodo ![]() |
This is another reason why we need our residency laws modified with immediate effect. There is a very high probability that the disabled deltans have been living in Ekiti for generations. They deserve the same rights and privileges as other Ekiti residents. With the appropriate changes to the said achaic laws, this kind of insensitivity and outright ungodly wickedness will be reduced. What a disgrace! These disabled people are Nigerians and most of all human beings - lets treat each other with dignity. |

In recent times however, these guys have "fallen my hand" Nwannem biko, what is the origin of the bolded phrase. |
@Beaf, oro e ti su mi. ![]() |
@Beaf, what do you have to say about the notion, pointed out by various sources including BBC documentaries, that the inhabitants of most of the lagos slums you posted, are indeed 'migrants' from various African countries and your very state, who have become hopless and prefer the posted deplorable conditions to what obtains in theor homelands? I submit to you that you'll only find a minute minority of real Lagosians living in those conditions. abi you have evidence to the contrary ni? |
Can't you people tell that Beaf is a more stubborn than a stubborn goat going after Garri offered for sale at Ariara market? He is simply having fun here by posting photographs from various countries and states in Nigeria while claiming they are from Lagos state. His case is like that of the mama of monkey wey know say her pikin no fine, but that mama fit fight to finish, if anyone call dat pikin ugly. Beaf is probably laughing his a.ss off over jamaican weed and lager in his UK hideout where he is currently located. olodo. |
Beaf, Oh boy, that neck on Tinubu does not fit o. ![]() |
Beaf, Mavor Mallam one-man-gang. Now the crap and stop making fun of the down trodden, the marginalized, among your people. Those photographs may be those of fellow Nigerians and you should be ashamed of making fun of them. Observers see how you have dodged every questions you've been asked, particularly when their obvious answers may lead you to criticising your thieving governor. You are not appearing objective at the moment. Now go and find photoshopped graphics to respond to me. if you know my state/region of origin. olodo. BTW, I'm not sure Aregbesola is worse than either the current governor or the past one. |
Do some of you illiterates know the difference between a question and an assertion? Reread the first post, olodos. |
Nigerians Looters and thieves now have an easy way of escaping prosecution or "harassment" by the EFCC. All they have to do is invest $500,000 in the real estate market and they would be given residence visas. Desperate times call for desperate measures. ![]() The reeling housing market has come to this: To shore it up, two Senators are preparing to introduce a bipartisan bill Thursday that would give residence visas to foreigners who spend at least $500,000 to buy houses in the U.S. |
GEJ's comments/statements on this issue must, at a minimum, include a condemnation of the execution of Gadhafi who was captured alive. The savages who killed him, did so in violation of UN rules and the so-called geneva conventions stipulations. GEJ must also call for an investigation of how Gadhafi was killed and demand that the culprits be brought to book. The culpability of the usual suspects in this matter must also be emphasized by GEJ. GEJ has an opportunity to claim his position as the true leader of Africa. (wishful thinking on my part - that man may be as clueless as he's been accused of being) SMH |
Those who killed Gadhafi in this manner are no better off for it. The man was captured alive without putting up a fight yet these cold blodded murderers and savages went ahead and took his life. These criminals will pay for this barbaric act one way or the other. My Gadhafi's soul rest in peace. |
One thing is very clear to me, most of the warmongers on this thread were not alive 1966/1967/1968. Heck, most have never killed a chicken for dinner, let alone a human being. These warriors have only seen a pistol on TV and on law enforcement officers. At the sound of the first booom, these coots will shiit in their boots. Finally, most of them are neatly tucked away in diaspora where the dagger of an angry adversary cannot reach them. awon olodo who cannot hurt a fly. SMH |
Beaf:I’m afraid you are on your own on this one. Your idol, GEJ disagrees with your way of handling the problem and that should indicate to you that you are way off base. Now, if you would like to state that GEJ is wrong on his current approach, that would be a very novel affair - your sycophancy concerning anything GEJ is well known. (you left yourself open for the cheap shot –olodo) ![]() |
ATLgal:Why would any sane human being send his kids to some of the so-called religion only school? The kids who attend them are primarily from poverty ridden homes or are abandoned kids. GEJ has taken the first step of announcing that the curriculum of the 'Almajiri' educational system would be made to include basic education to empower them to play the needed roles in the development of the country. If Christians can send their children to religions schools, there is nothing wrong with a Islam based school. The schools must be regulated and monitored to reduce the gross child abuse taking place in there. Why must a child be sent out to beg for food and money as a requirement for receiving basic education? Look at this picture: https://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/WORLD/africa/01/07/nigeria.children.radicalization/nigeria.children.story.jpg Will you send your child to such a school? BTW I send my love to you for the bolded part of your post. |
Beaf:What you continue to refer to as Almajiri institution is a criminal practice of Child Abuse. We will have to agree to disagree on this issue. What we can agree on, is the fact that the problems of poverty, child slavery (maids etc), baby factories, child trafficing for prostitution need to be addressed holistically. GEJ's leadership is welcome on the matter. There is nothing wrong with Almajirai if practiced accordingly. What we call Almajiri in Nigeria, for the most part, is nothing more than gross child abuse fueled by poverty and lack of education. Until we address the underlying problems mentioned above, you people should prepare for more Boko Harams. |
Failed secessionists are now trying to live their dream of a separate nation vicariously through middlebelters. You people are well advised to send your money to the East and develop that place. olodo ![]() |
For those of you who seek true knowledge, may I let you know that an Almajiri, by true definition, is a word borrowed from Arabic for someone who leaves his home in search of knowledge in Islamic religion - by choice I might add. The Abused children who you are erroneously calling Almajiris are not Almajiris at all. As I stated earlier, a child becomes an 'Almajiri' when there is high striking poverty line in his family to take care of his essential needs such as sustenance. Some children are forced to become one simply when they lose their parents and when their relatives or guardians cannot keep them. Most of such children become victims when their parents send them to Quranic schools outside their hometowns. The so-called Quaranic schools need to be regulated, many of the schools are nothing more that breeding grounds for terrorists and criminals. Any attempt to ban the practice of Almajiri is insensitive and will worsen religious tensions in the country. What we must do is address the problem of education, poverty, and more importantly, Child Abuse in this country. Many of you prefer to look at the poverty and abuse suffered by many of these chilldren as Northern problem or a problem with Islam. You have a right to wallow in your bigotry. I submit to you that the menace of street urchins and beggars is a problem of poverty and lack of education. We are better off asking the Federal Ministers of Education who have spent oner $10billion in the past 10years alone, what they did with the money if millions of children are running around without primary school education. The same question must also be asked of governors. Once again, I applaud GEJ for announcing that the curriculum of the Almajiri educational system would be made to include basic education to empower them to play the needed roles in the development of the country. The solution must also include effective poverty alleviation. Additionally, Irresponsible parents who have the means, but do not provide for the education of their children and throw them away, as the parents of modern day 'Almajiris' do, should be thrown in jail. These abused kids are God's children. Shikena. |
Beaf: When you say you will support GEJ's efforts, just how are you proposing to do this? Because as I said earlier, the core-North needs a full cultural rebirth to rid itself and the country off the almajiri curse.I mean we will support GEJ, morally, in the NASS, mass media, and in any other area he needs our support in dealing with this issue of child abuse. Stop bellittling yourself by putting child abuse on a scale by saying that it is worse in one area of the country than others. These Children, who are God's children by the way, need our support in everyway. This issue is too serious and disgraceful to be politicized by you. |
Beaf:You must be suffering from amnesia if you think I was arguing for the cultural viewpoint of the "rightness" of a barbaric act of child abuse. abi you are getting old ni? Unlike you, I don't see the issue of child abuse as a Northern or Southern problem. It is a national problem. You have the Almajiris in the North, Child laborers (housemaids) etc in the South, child trafficing for prostitution, and baby factories in the South. We will support GEJ's efforts in addressing these issues. olodo |
Beaf:Cut the bull and stop blaming North for for everything under the sun. The said bill actually passed a second reading in the senate and its supporters included Northerners. GEJ has pledged to agressively support childern's rights and his leadership on the matter is needed now, more than ever before. No child in Nigeria deserves to be abused as the Almajiris, the children sold into slavery, the children used as housemaids, and the children trafficed overseas for prostitution. Let us urge and support GEJ in this matter. GEJ pledged to address the problem was elected, we await his leadership. GEJ can act of his promises such as the one below, we will support him. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/jonathan-basic-education-for-almajiri-will-improve-development/228/ http://www.peoplesdaily-online.com/opinion/opinion/7801-fgs-pivotal-role-in-integrated-almajiri-education |
Relax101:Your reaction to my post has confirmed that you are a brain dead dullard not worthy of any response from me. I make an exception here to give you another opportunity to reread my post and adjust your response to it, appropriately. I don't believe that you are an illeterate but I think you are letting your bigotry get the best out of you. |
Let me first state categorically that the problem of Almajirai can be solved in only 5 years if the will to do so exists. It is a known fact that the Almajiris of the North and the ordinary people of the Niger Delta area, including the ogonis who continue to live in abject poverty while the few elite enrich themselves and their cronies by stealing the wealth generated from the Niger Delta region, are indeed the most marginalized groups in Nigeria. I say again that the shame belongs to all of you people who refuse to demand a change by using your voting rights sensibly. The concept of Almajirai has been bastardized and is no longer a nobel cause of turning a child into a Islamic scholar. Today, a child becomes an Almajiri when there is high striking poverty line in his family to take care of his essential needs such as sustenance. Some children are forced to become one simply when they lose their parents and when their relatives or guardians cannot keep them. Most of such children become victims when their parents send them to Quranic schools outside their hometowns. Have you ever wondered why the children of the elite, governors, doctors, engineers, even civil service workers, are not Almajiri? The practice of Almajirai today, is nothing but gross child abuse which must be punishable by law. If this child abuse is left unchecked, there will be more Boko Harams and even worse in the near future because Nigeria's Almajiri children are learning a life of poverty and violence. In 2008 there was a raging debate over the Bill for an act to provide for the establishment of the National Commission for the Eradication of Child Destitution in Nigeria, otherwise known as almajiri bil. The fact that it passed a second reading in the senate is a clear pointer to how serious the almajiri issue is to many people. Unfortunately, the bill was never passed. I urge GEJ to submit another version of the bill to NASS for immediate consideration, in light of the security challenges we face. No child should be subjected to the kind of child abuse which the Almajiris experience daily. |

passes the law to be signed by GEJ, I'm sure he will sign it. Until that day, any inertia in recognising child rights in Nigeria is from the core-North. Where you not among those either sitting on the wall or arguing for the cultural viewpoint of the "rightness" of marrying girls off at tender ages as backed by sharia when the Yerima 13 year old bride issue was raging? You can't eat your cake and have it, bruv.
