@killayut, I asked you this question: How would you propose to resolve this land dispute other than demanding full transfer of ownership - what's your middle ground? Your response was killayut: If Owerri belongs to the Igbo natives in Owerri and ABA belongs to the ABA natives of Aba, GELEGELE belongs to the Ijaw natives of GELEGELE, And just as the Minority AWORIS in Lagos always try to make Lagos an AWORI affair ,Gele Gele must also remain an Ijaw affair until Nigerians learn to live by the constitution.I'm sorry I do not understand what you are trying to say and humbly request clarification. There is obviously a serious dispute regarding Gelegele to which we should try to find a solution. I was expecting some sort of proposed solution to the problem, preferably, some middle ground. I'd appreciate if you'd give the question another shot. I wouldn't be surprised if such areas of dispute, from Jos to Gelegele, are converted into federal land/property if you people insist on not finding viable answers. |
In as much as there is no applicable statute of limitations in this case, the professor should get lost and let the process take its course. Since Tinubu has said that he is not guilty and can prove it, lets afford him the cordiality of doing just that. We must also allow the legal system to work without undue interference. This idea of selective justice is senseless. It seems to me as if, we all should applaud when a system succeeds in convicting any criminal, we should only be concerned when innocent people are convicted. This professor is senseless. |
Congratulation, honourable Sanusi!! Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has, for the second consecutive year, has been named Central Bank Governor of the Year in Sub-Saharan Africa. The award was presented by the global business magazine, Emerging Market. |
PointB:You must think we are all s.tupid. MEND killed and maimed in Warri and they killed and maimed when they bombed Abuja. Their actions were not carried because of infilteration by criminal elements - MEND is made up of criminal elements. olodo |
Ovularia:It is completely irresponsible to send a 10 year old and two and a half year old children home from church on Keke NAPEP as described in this story. Where were the parents? The parents should be fined heavily or made to spend a few days in jail for bad parenting, after the children are found. SMH |
cre88tivit:what da heck is wrong with you with this kind of name calling? If I accidentaly pour the coffee I am drinking on my unit because of your action, you will pay more money than McDonalds. |
killayut, how would you propose to resolve this land dispute other than demanding full transfer of ownership - what's your middle ground? abi you dey dodge me? I asked the same question 5 pages ago, I still dey wait. |
If only the SSS was smarter they could lure them in by staging a false assassination Of Ms Ogar and then an agent claims ransom or membership of the sect and moves on to atleast win there confidence. Then hack into there financial network/sponsorship or wreck havoc from within.hahahahaha, stop thinking like a real secret agent. Our SSS is too incompetent to think like this - lets hope they read your post. |
The 2006 Series of Nigeria's circulating banknotes included freshly designed and minted N20 bills with Murtala Mohammed's face on them. Soludo, the then CBN governor, authorized the new design and unveiled it with much funfair. Soludo did not seem to have the reservation, embellished with lies, that many of you are expressing here. I submit to you that Soludo is more patriotic than many of you expressing objections will ever be. Only |
nwannem maramma, if any terrorist camp was indeed discovered by the police, why have we not read about the razing down of any structure found in such a camp? What da heck is wrong with the incompetent handlers of GEJ? ![]() |
naijaking1:One of the critical success factors of young democracies is the ability to work within the rule of law to effectuate changes. How do you expect to bypass our constitutional process and go back to a post independence constitution? The constitution is being amended as we speak - you and your interest groups are well advised to leave the bush and archaic methods, and lobby your elected representatives for the changes you desire. olodo |
nwannem, odikwa risky. "We refuse to marginalize the role of women in Saudi society and in every aspect, within the rules of Sharia," Saudi King Abdullah |
ikeyman00:Your comments are appreciated. Please note that it is impossible to establish Sharia Court of Appeals as prescribed in the constitution, in mosque premises as you are proposing. Your proposal is actually laughable. I'd recommend that you review the constitution here ===> http://www.nigeria-law.org/ConstitutionOfTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria.htm. After doing that, you should be able to make a sensible and educated objection. For now your idea smacks of religious bigotry. olodo |
I'm glad that the constitutional amendment in progress will include firm residency provisions such that if a citizen has lived in any state in Nigeria continuously for more than 3years, he becomes a resident of that state and will have the same legal rights as any other resident of the state, indigene or not. We will, Insha Allah, stall the amendment process if this provision is not included. |
Onlytruth:How dare you disparage Uwazurike? That man has done more for our people than you'll ever be able to match. As for the bolded text, you cannot go lion hunting from the comfort of your living room in the USA in front of a PC either. Talk is cheap, come down here and match your words with action. |
@Onlytruth, your hatred for your motherland is eating you up and causing your loss of objectivity in any discussion. This thread is about a horrible crime committed against 5 Nigerian traders. No one knows why they were murdered in cold blood, no one is sure if this was due to conflict between gangs or murders orchestrated by people who want to forment trouble. Your response was that Nigeria cannot work, Nigeria will not work etc etc. Do you call that rant of yours objective? Who is stopping you and your gang from returning to your hometowns and declaring the formation of your own country? @EzeUche, return home and lead the fight, olodo |
Onlytruth:nwannem, I understand your frustration brought on by the fact that a majority of your own people resident in Nigeria do not share your view. Your impotence in changing the minds of your people and converting them into modern day suicidal secessionists must be quite painful for you. Try to channel your energy into development projects in your hometown if you have the ability. You'll find that quite therapeutic. |
killayut:I suppose you understand that this is a public forum and calling for forumites other than Binis and Ijaws to stop posting is foolhardy. I reserve my right to post opinions or ask questions as I see fit in this thread. killayut, who would you propose to resolve this land dispute other than demanding full transfer of ownership - what's your middle ground? |
The usual NL suspects are calling for revenge and other violent responses. Mind you they want other people to carry out those responses while they are neatly tucked in the comfort of a foreign land. I say they are cowards |
Lets not jump to foolish conclusions because this incident may very well be an act to settle scores between feuding parties. Why was that particular shop targeted when there are countless other shops operated by Igbos in the market? Unfortunately, we may never know the truth because of our incompetent criminal investigators. My response to those calling for Igbos to return to the East is that, there are not enough resources in the area to sustain all returnees. |
Abagworo:Interesting segue. But Abagworo, is there any truth to the accusation that Igbo tribalism when killayut's people were under eastern region deprived them of education at that time? @Dede1, must your blows always be below the belt even when the face and body are available for same? |
History professors in Nigerian Universities and elsewhere have a lot of work to do, given the various opinions projected as historical accounts on this thread. You guys are doing a good job in putting forth your various points of view. What saddens me however, is the vigor with which some of you disavow certain inconvenient truths about your history. There is nothing to be ashamed of when historical accounts are given about your various ethnic groups. Keep this up, I'm enjoying the exchange of information. It suffices to say that there were Ijaw slaves, Ijaw owners/traders, Igbo slaves and Igbo slave owners/traders as well. This is the only historical fact that we can accept as conclusive on the matter. My own view is that, any land area which causes various ethnic groups to take up arms because of some archaic land ownership rights, should be seized and garnished by the federal government and rendered government land. shikena. |
Tinubu 4 life
You are wicked and shameless. How can you prescribe the sentence of life imprisonment for the current charges? Shouldn't you wait until the remaining charges are unveiled? |
Onlytruth:hehehe, caught in a white lie and wishes to drop the topic and move on. Typical |
Onlytruth:You are guiding gullible southerners? Why must you belittle your people like this. If I didn't know better I would have concluded that your people are quite daft if it would take you to guide them. My people would refer to your case as Gurgu ba shi koiya gurgu taffia (the blind lead the blind) |
OAM4J:LOL, that Beaf is a naughty boy. ![]() @ |
Onlytruth:lol. I don't have to tell tales to expose your likes. |
Onlytruth:Aww, ndo o. Did I hit a soft spot? ![]() |
Obiagu1:It took a single (only ONE) Ijaw man to name your new 'country' biafra and this Ijaw man did not come up with any original name, ko? bery bery good. How come Ijaws fought against secession on the side of the federal troops? The fact that an ijaw man named your 'country' does not mean Ijaws consider themselves as biafrans back then. olodo Onlytruth, please stop speaking for Ndigbo, you are disgracing us and every other Igbo from elsewhere. Keep beating war drums from the comfort of your air conditioned rented room in California. Your rants are equivalent to a snail screaming that he will bite a crocodile and tear its skin off. dan tselewa. |
Dede1:Are you trying to tell me that an Ijaw gave the name Biafra to Eastern Region after the secession was declared or that secessionists chose to use the name Biafra to declare that the whole eastern region including Ijawland (mind you the Ijaws did not share your seccession dreams) is breaking away from our great Federal republic? My understanding is that the name Bight of Biafra has been in existence since the 1800's and the secessionist, lacking the gift of originality, decided to call their 'Area of Dream' Biafra. ko kwa? |
Dede1:Which Biafra are you referring to here, the one that seccessionists hoped for or imagined? Eastern region of the great Federal Republic of Nigeria, was made up of Igbo land and several other areas. I don't believe a majority of the Ijaws agreed to your seccession pact. no? |
Dede1:Do you have any evidence to disprove the claim that Igbos were traded as slaves by the Ijaws as claimed? Do you deny that the utopian biafra would include alll land areas currently claimed as Ijaw land? I'm all ears and wish to be informed. I'd rather you speak for Ndigbo than the dullards parading themselves as champions of the the Igbo cause. The said olodos include the likes of Onlytruth Chyz*, & Obiagu1. |
