Dede1:I'd appreciate if you would back up the claim in blue text above with some specifics - I mean verifiable specifics and not some made-up conjecture. What specifically was Buhari's contribution between 1966 -1982, or would you like to revise your timeline? |
Mal. Ibrahim Modibbo, spokesman for ACN's Presidential candidate, mallam Nuhu Ribadu has said that there's still hope for a last minute deal between the ACN and CPC before midnight today. The spokesman was reacting to Daily Trust Online's Ademola Adebayo when asked for comments about the earlier statement from the ACN saying talks for an alliance have collapsed. Listen to the spokesman here ===> http://www.dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16895:hope-for-acncpc-deal-still-alive-modibbo&catid=1:news&Itemid=2 |
Private sources told me that the deal fell through because of who to choose as the VP. Bakare was supposed to resign at some point, possibly after next Saturday, and allow the ACN to nominate a VP. Buhari adamantly insisted that ACN must agree that Tinubu cannot be this VP. The failure of the talks is partially due to the fact that Buhari is a very principled man as we all know, and the personal ambition of Tinubu position himself to become the preident in 2015. I believe what my source told me, I'm sure we'll see other spins shortly. If by 2pm today, a deal is not announced, then I may once again have to offer my Congratulations to president GEJ in advance. |
Kobojunkie:Truth be told, the Igbos are indispensible in our nation, their contributions do not need to be highlighted, they are as bright as the sunshine. The freaking problem with Ndigbo is the doggone leadership who always put money above the interests of Ndigbo. Why was it not the SE making a deal with CPC? The whole country is sick and tired of PDP, but the leadership in the SE led the flock to vote overwhelmingly for PDP! This is quite sad. |
Beaf:Calm down, nothing will happen if you people don't rig. |
sbeezy8:This has gone beyond party interests and self interests of personalities. This is about delivering our nation from the claws of PDP who have robbed us blind for the past 12 years or so. I'm sure there's a lot to offer ACN, if ACN has nothing to gain, Ribadu would not have stepped down. Poor Beaf, he is running helter skelter digging up any dirt he can find. Rakumin dajij. ![]() |
naijaking1:@naijaking1 & Beaf, this is what its all about. Lets go out and have a free and fair election on Saturday without the customary PDP mago mago. If the elections are without blatant rigging, I will gracefully accept GEJ if he wins, a very big if. Be informed that CPC and ACN agents are being deployed to the known PDP rigging states such Sokoto by the hundreds. Each armed with hidden cameras. If PDP agents rig, they will be exposed and will have to accept responsibility for the resulting pogroms. PDP agents should listen to GEJ who has asked them not to rig him in. We shall see. @dasa, GEJ is not silly, in fact he is a decent human being. He simply lacks political sophistication and experience. |
naijaking1:eeyaa, pele o, sanu. Everyone but you already knows that GEJ is not a sophisticated politician. GEJ was quite naive and foolish to have listened to OBJ, the puppeteer, who urged him to destroy a gentleman's power sharing agreement which exists n PDP. GEJ thought he could out maneuver the very sophisticated and vastly experienced politicians in the North - well, he is finding out that the road to the 4-year presidency will take more than good luck. OBJ is licking his wounds as we speak, Jega is in place to checkmate any rigging, while our dear almajiris are fit and ready to protect their votes. ![]() @vigasimple, I can tell you on very good authority that Ribadu has stepped down. pele o. |
hmmm. Did you guys catch this sentence from the article posted by OP? Daily Trust further learnt that Tinubu had agreed to ask ACN’s presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu and his running mate Fola Adeola to step down with a caveat that Buhari’s running mate Pastor Tunde Bakare will agree to step down even if after the polls.Tinubu may yet become the VP at the rate this is going. We wait for details. |
News 100% confirmed. Shekaru next. ![]() |
If they truly love our dear country, they will form the needed alliance. My fingers are crossed. |
This story may be too good to be true. We desperately need a bold act like this. |
Meldrick:Mallam Meldrick, if I told you that the PDP rigged elections masively in 2003 and 2007, I bet you'll ask me for evidence Remove the wool from your eyes - PDP rigs as a way of life as we saw in all previous elections !!! It is laughable and foolhardy to think they changed their ways suddenly, out of the goodness of their hearts.According to the only public statement made by Jega on rigging, ballot snatching was most rampant in Bayelsa, Delta, Imo states (PDP strongholds), last Saturday. So there. |
jmaine:Why don't you carry your impotent complain about that sahara to them? Focus on the issue at hand and quit trying to change the subject. You are beginning to sound quite daft - please stop pretending to be a dullard, olodo. I'm done with your brainless self, you may return and yap all you want. Rakumin dajij ![]() |
CPC's complaints The Congress for Progressive Change wishes to bring to your notice matters of urgent national importance. Yesterday, two men (Messrs Akinlolu Akinto and Habila Stephen) were caught with a van loaded with about 100,000 ballot papers for the Presidential elections of Saturday the 16th April, 2011. On further investigation by the Police, they averred that about five of them were involved in the same business. On thorough search of the Printing Press, an additional one million copies were discovered. In total, twelve people have been arrested and are in Police custody at Utako Police Station, Abuja. Mallam Usman Umar the DPO informed that the case has already been transferred to the Force Headquarters. The name of the Printing Press is TULIP PRESS belonging to Alhaji Bello Gwandu, the former Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). It was also alleged the same TULIP Press was responsible for the fake ballot papers found in Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara and other parts of North West. In another potential ‘show stopper’ for the presidential elections, our impeccable sources pointed that a lorry load of ballot papers had been removed from INEC stores to the Aso rock villa, ostensibly as samples for the view of Candidate Goodluck Jonathan. When INEC was confronted with this allegation, the veracity of which was confirmed we were told the matter is still under investigation! In another related development, some presidential ballot papers were thumb-printed on a farm along Ningi road in Bauchi. Also, ballot papers are alleged as being printed at the Government house in Gombe. Meanwhile, there is a discovery that where most of the later-in-the-day inflation of electoral figures came from were the satellite polling Units. Satellite Polling Units are meant to accommodate the excess of 500 that a polling unit should have. Where these are, can only be known to INEC. It is the figures from these that are inflated. For instance, there are 537 Polling Units (PUs) in Abuja but the satellite units are about 120. Should that not explain why many Nigerians went to their Polling booths without seeing their names on the register? It explains why you will read of CPC winning in Abuja and suddenly, later in the day, the lead cancelled out by over 50,000 votes! PDP did not win up to ten out of the regular 537 PUs. So where did the inflated over 50,000 votes come from? We know this presidential election is a ‘do or die’ for some because they have a lot to explain to the Nigerian people, should they lose. That is why no effort is spared in ensuring a pyrrhic victory. Even opposition party agents were compromised with huge amount of money. The case of Mr. Anene, the uncompromising INEC returning officer for the Anambra central senatorial elections, is an eye-opener at the massive horse-trading that takes place between the Polling Unit (after electoral proceedings) and the final collation and announcement at the collation center. As a party, we shall continue to appeal to our numerous supporters not to be discouraged by these happenings but to be determined more than ever to be prepared to give the final push for the espousal of a new Nation. God bless Nigeria. Rotimi Fashakin. (Engr.) National Publicity Secretary, CPC. |
Can't you people simply condemn the act of moving 1 million ballots without any kind of security? Even a blind man can see that these ballots can be a rigging tool. Let's hope the riggers don't make it too blatant on Saturday because scary things will happen if they do. According to Jega, ballot snatching was most rampant in Bayelsa, Delta, Imo states (PDP strongholds), last Saturday. Let's hope they don't try these risky acts elsewhere next Saturday. Our nation is quite frigile at this point in time, all hands must be on deck to checkmate rigging by any party. |
jmaine:bla blabla. Please be man/woman enough to condemn the act in question. The issue at hand is not about me but about people being arrested with 1 million presidential ballots - surely you must find this act dispicable! Watch how the people who dropped the ball with start spinning the issue. How can that many ballots be transported without security?? |
@jmaine, did you see the second source provided? You sound like an intellectual midget. Flee flea!! ![]() |
@Beaf What is shameful is your inability to call this act, criminal, even if the act favors one's own candidate. GEJ already said no one should rig for him, that apparently was a code sentence for "Rig but don't get caught, I have already introduced deniability". Riggers win not get away with it this time around, at the presidential level. Mark my words. Mallam Beaf, it is what it is pal. Here's another source for the same story - I suppose this one is fake as well: http://elombah.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6158:the-presidential-poll-in-danger-of-derailment-cpc&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=67 |

No wonder PDP swept Sokoto!! Bloody riggers The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has alerted Nigerians of massive efforts to print election ballots for the purpose of rigging next Saturday’s presidential elections, for which 12 people are now under arrest.http://saharareporters.com/news-page/abuja-election-shocker-12-persons-arrested-1-million-presidential-election-ballot-papers-0 |
It is interesting to note that the losers and political prostitutes who at the last minute, decamped from PDP to ACN were the candidates who lost to PDP in Oyo state. ![]() |
Onlytruth:Please tell us, in all your political sophistry, whether elections should be about the contestant or the party. An honest examination of this issue will reveal to you why ndigbo continues to exhibit gross political immaturity at all levels. I'm not sure you are as bright as your superiors who run APGA, olodo |
INEC and the government appealed to newspapers and other publishers to desist from announcing election results before official results become available. Many publishers such as DailyTrust, Daily Times, TheNation, e.t.c. have tried to comply with the said request from INEC by stating clearly that their information is based on early results as opposed to final results. Osun Defender is now reporting that ACN LEADS IN SENATE (34 SEATS) CPC LEADS REPS (83 SEATS). They also reported earlier that David Mark lost while the results were still inconclusive at the time of their report. Do these publishers have access to INEC's data? I think not. I am very disappointed with this publication. We all should take a deep breadth and wait for INEC to make official announcements. |
Beaf:Healthy results indeed. If the presidential election is as smooth as what we had yesterday, then Nigerians will accept the winner, if a runoff is not required. The question is, will the terrorists of the ND accept defeat gracefully. GEJ has been a failure for the most part as a President whose party was in the majority in the NASS. His major "archievement" was to squander $billions of our fortune by sharing it with governors and on phantom projects. He will be an even less effective president when his party is now in the minority. For the good of the country, the president must come from CPC or ACN. Buhari of CPC is the clear preference here. A runoff between Buhari and Ribadu is not as far fetched as it was, 24 hours ago. SAI BUHARI KO RIBADU, SAI ONE NIJERIA!!! |
Beaf:If these elections are successful, GEJ must share the credit with Jega. Afterall, GEJ could have picked someone who can be controlled by PDP. The bolded wherin you claim that the PDP primaries were transparent is one of the reasons why I think you have lost your marbles. If the PDP primaries were ideal from your standpoint, then your standards are quite low. |
People should not assume that these reports of losses by Iyabo, Bankole, and Omisore will still be accurate by the time we receive the official results from INEC. Don't be surprised when INEC declares Bankole and Saraki winners. I wouldn't celebrate until the fat lady has song - it is foolhardy to overrate this election at this point in time. Having said that, I hope the early reports reflect the INEC results in a couple of days. If PDP losses are as great as early reports are indicating, may God help us through the gubernatorial elections (more killings, bombs, desperate acts may follow). |
naijaking1:you don expose de ting wey dey pain you, ko? You just had to turn this into another Northerner bashing thread. Its not your fault sha, many of us know that you are not really defending the fact that this minister was flown abroad on tax payer funds, while many of his constituents do not have such an alternative. For posting the bolded, I humbly call you olodo rabata. Let it be known that those of you who are attemnpting to take Naijaking on, on medical issues have lost the battle before it begins. |
Kano More than 900 eligible voters stand to miss the elections as they could not find their names on the voter register in Kabuga area of Kano metropolis. The voters raised alarm when they discovered that their names were not in the register and the timely intervention of security personnel in the area saved the situation from degenerating into violence. The electoral officer deployed to the polling station confirmed the development, saying did not know much because he is new in the area. Also a former vice chairman of Warawa local government area of Kano State Alhaji Ado Mohammed Jemagu has been arrested. He was found to be in possession of a large number of ballot papers. He was arrested by the police in Warawa with no satisfactory explanation as to how the sensitive election materials got to his possession. District head of the area Alhaji Abdullahi Sanusi confirmed the incident, saying however election in his domain was peaceful as his subjects remained law abiding throughout the exercise. The district head thanked INEC officials for bringing election materials in good time to the area and security personnel for the peace that reigned supreme throughout the exercise in the area. Kaduna Accreditation of voters began a little bit late in most polling units in Kaduna town as electoral officers arrived between 8.30 am and 10am. Voters patiently waited for the officials while in some polling units, volunteers recorded the names of those present and gave electoral officers when they arrived. This sped up accreditation in such units. Largely, the turnout was as impressive as last week’s election which was rescheduled for yesterday by the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) owing to lack of some sensitive voting materials. Vice President Namadi Sambo and his wife arrived their camp road polling unit at 11.45 am and were immediately accredited. Although security was tight, no one was harassed and the voters neither booed nor heckled the vice president or chanted any campaign slogan around the polling unit. However, after accreditation, his supporters started clapping for Sambo. He immediately boarded his tinted official car and was driven away by 11.50am. There was a heavy security presence around the polling unit and the exercise, as at 1pm, was largely peaceful. A helicopter was hovering over Out of 1148 registered voters, only 459 were accredited to vote. At 2.18pm Vice president Sambo returned and cast his vote and finished his civic responsibility in less than five minutes. At Unguwar Kaji ward of Igabi local government in Kaduna, a mild scuffle nearly ensued as voters waited endlessly for electoral officers at the voting centre in front of Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura’s house. The list of registered voters was missing and accreditation was done on a piece of paper. Voters showed their voters cards and their names were put down. There are three voting units in the ward and the election officials came at 11.30am at the LEA primary school centre, the voting unit where accreditation commenced the earliest. The officials did not finish accreditation before voting commenced. At the adjoining voting unit, accreditation commenced at 12.30pm. The officials complained that they were delayed at Rigachikun because election materials were not given to them on time. |
Edo The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] youth leader in Orhionwon Local government area of Edo state David Ogie was gunned down at the early hours of Saturday by some unknown gunmen. The deputy chairman of PDP in Edo state Chief Dickson Imasogie disclosed to newsmen in the local government headquaters on Saturday during the period of the accreditation for the election. Dickson said ‘when electoral materials were been taken to different parts of the state some party agents were mandated to escort the materials to ensure it was not diverted. But somewhere along the way at night soldiers stopped party agents from moving. The PDP agents decided to spend the night at the house of one Ibu Otomwen, a PDP leader in the area. Fews hours later some unidentified gun men came in and opened fire killing the PDP agent who happened to be our youth leader in the area’. He said the body of the deceased was later taken to Orhionwon police station, where an official report wa made. The police sources in the area confirmed the development but added that only the Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO] could make an official statement on the matter. Ogun Contrary to the massive turn-out of voters recorded during the April 2 aborted election into the National Assembly in Ogun State, a low turn-out of voters was recorded across the state yesterday during the rescheduled election. In many of the polling booths visited in Abeokuta, Odeda, Ijebu-Ode, Odeda, Illaro, Ifo, and other towns in the state, fewer voters were seen on the queues waiting for accreditation and voting unlike what obtained during the April 2 botched National Assembly polls which was cancelled mid-way into the voting. In the Abeokuta metropolis, although officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at polling booths as early as 7.30am this time around, voters only began to trickle in at about 9.00am. For instance, no voter was seen at the Omida polling booth 2 in the Ibara area as at 8.40am even though INEC officials were already there waiting. Gombe Some voters in Gombe metropolis have applauded the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s Parliamentary elections, attributing it to the transparency of the electoral body that conducted the election. the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). 30-year-old Kabiru Ali, a voter in Dawaki area of Gombe metropolis said what impressed him the most about the whole elections was the peaceful way it was conducted. “What impressed me about the election was the hitch free way it was conducted. It was free of violence. The conduct was peaceful.” Another voter, Abdullahi Babangida also shared the same view and commend people for their patience. 53-year-old Dalhatu Babayo, another voter , said he was impressed with the high turn out of voters during the elections. “We have never had such peaceful election since the second republic. During Shagari”. Hussaina Adamu, a Housewife and mother of three, said she was also impressed with the peaceful conduct of the election. Adamu Uda, a voter said he was impressed that5 people came out to vote despite the disappointment of last Saturday. On his own part, Umar Sha’aibu. Another voter, observed that absence of security personel aided the peaceful conduct of the polls. “Their presence would have triggered some misunderstanding and this might have caused chaos.” Explaining why the elections were peaceful, the Executive Director of Council for Democracy and Environmental Action, said it might be because of people’s confidence in the transparency of INEC and the fact that people are now more aware of elections and their rights. Kano The legislative elections may not conclusively be used as indicators for the final results of the elections according to the minister National planning, Dr Shamsuddeen Usman as there may be local issues which could alter the results. He was speaking exclusively to Sunday trust yesterday in Kano after being accredited for the elections He said it is difficult to speculate the outcome as elections may or may not be indicators as there are issues that may influence voters to go one way and other issues that may take them to another way. He said the outcome of the election results when out will then make one to predict but stressed that people should patiently wait for the results before any prediction. The minister called on Nigerians to make sure their votes count as there are stories of people being given paltry sums to vote like N200 and he thinks this elections are the most important civic duty which people should not sell for a small fee. |
I reproduce the quote below with due respect to Alhaji Salisu Suleiman: Northern elite despise Buhari vehemently because they know he will destroy their power base and end their corruption and nepotism. |
