Politics › Africom's First Major Offensive Operation In Africa TBD by nduchucks(op): 12:14am On Mar 01, 2011
I predict that we shall see the first major millitary offensive activities by Africom in Libya in the next few days. It may be initiated with the enforcement of a No Fly Zone in Libya to protect the killing of innocent civilians (more importantly to protect the oil fields  lipsrsealed)

Shortly thereafter, they will go in and capture or kill Gadhafi and fully secure the oil fileds and ensure the continuous flow of oil to the west.  Some say its high time GEJ offered AFRICOM a permanent base in Warri or PH.

Lazy millitant thugs in the ND should take note.

So what exactly does the Igbo man want? I'm against subsidies, but don't mind the gov't helping you (and everyone) cut down cost of production. This imo is a wiser course of action than the outright buying of overpriced goods. Yet it seems that this is not good enough.

So again, what do you want?
@naijaking, I agree with eku-bears on this issue. I suspect those who are complaining would like the government to simply buy from the indigenous seller just because the seller is indigenous. That to me is dumb. Now, what do you want?

As to the question on what the Igbo man wants, I don't think anyone knows exactly - maybe a biafra nation.

No wonder they call you Mr. Inconsistency. Could you answer eku-bears for once.
I do understand your support for greater and larger federal government role in our lives, especially since the federal beauraucry is bloated with Hausa/Fulani oligarchs. It's no surprise that any policy not directly impacting positively on you guys will never see the light of day. You'll fool noone, my friend.
How did you reach this conclusion from my single post on this thread? Are your biases controlling you again? geezzz. What question of eku-bears are you suggesting that I answer?

I've always been turned off by anything related to Tinubu because of his alleged criminal past. I have to admit that the power he currently wields in the SW is quite impressive. I suppose if people like OBJ, IBB, former heads of state, and heck all Nigerian leaders, who also have thieving backgrounds, can be accepted as true leaders, then Tinubu has become a bonafide SW leader.

Tinubu, my friends, has become the new untouchable in Nigeria - he has joined OBJ, IBB, and other untouchable rogues. dan tselewa.

I do understand the strategic need to appreciate the movitation of ones opponent which maybe simply academic, however, many times on this forum educated people have succumbed to ethnic and tribal chivalry based on fear and self preservation.
Finally, you've identified what you yourself have been in denial about. You kept on misreading eku-bear, for the very reason in the bolded portion. There is absolutely nothing wrong with eku-bear's statements and some may conclude that  it is myopic to interprete his statements as tantamount to support for the North.

@topic, it is narrow minded and s.tupid to simply purchase buses from indigenous manufacturer instead of from China, if the Chinese can sell better products for less. These indigenous manufacturers need to learn to be competitive by building better and cheaper products. Shikena.

@eku-bear, doesn't eku mean rat in your language? What does this handle of yours signify if its not just a random handle?

@Obiagu1, I wouldn't rush to condemn people who do not respond to violence with prompt violence.

When the bororos(fulani herdsmen) attacked residents of North Oyo, the complaint was that the bororos are so wicked to the extent that they are in the habit of "r.aping our girls or women anytime they are met on the farm. We have several cases of that and their activities are now becoming uncontrollable. Not only that, they rob with knives, cutlass, and other dangerous weapons and in most cases, motorcycle riders/owners are often their targets,” one Chief Oguntade explained.  Chief Oguntade said people of Oyo north have been patient enough as they are law abiding and peace-loving people who do not want to take laws into their hands.

alex101:
BTW, my friend, why didn't your leaders (from the 1970's to date) develop nigeria, with all these oil to rival the oil rich arab countries? huh
My brother, our leaders in Nigeria have failed us woefully. My admonition to you is to remove tribal and ethnic sentiments out of your analysis in order to see that those leaders hail from South, West, East, and North. These leaders do not have the best interest of ordinary citizens in their hearts. They feel just as comfortable with marginalizing the common people of the oil producing regions, as they do the poor masses in the North.  Just look at the composition of PDP and you'll get a picture of what I mean.

@houvest, you like most other Nigerians, particularly from the East, have been sold the notion that the civil war was not about oil. Only a fool will continue to believe that Ojukwu's main goal was not to control the oil rich region. Ojukwu's plans ultimately failed due to poor planning and abbysmal strategies coupled by naivity. Quite sad.

The map posted by the OP is more accurate than not, though not 100% accurate. No one can blame the Igbo coup plotters of the past and Ojukwu for attempting to secceed. Imagine a biafra with all that oil!  I venture to say that such a country would rival the Arab oil rich countries on several levels.

The sad truth is that the biafrans lost the war and will never form that nation without first killing off the rest of Nigeria - an impossibility at best. Best option for biafrans is to learn to live and let live, learn to be nationalists and patriotic.

As Ileke posited, y'all ain't going nowhere as long as the oil fields are not yet dry (i.e. unless massive reserves are found in Sakwato, Kaduna, or the Chad basin).

@Becomerich, go on soun. cheesy Hand drawn maps can be used to distort facts. let the OP produce satellite images to justify his claims
Politics › Re: Obasanjo & Gbenga Daniel - Where Did It All Go Wrong? by nduchucks: 8:11pm On Feb 12, 2011
First sign of trouble November 2008, OGD disrespected OBJ's daughter thus disrespecting OBJ, according to the culture of their people:

The timely intervention of Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, prevented a major clash between his counterpart in Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Iyabo-Obasanjo Bello, at Ogbomoso, on Saturday.

Both Daniel and the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo were among the hundreds of dignitaries who graced the state wedding organised by Alao-Akala for his daughter, Subulade Olamide and her husband, Mr. Olayode Alabi.

The governors of Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Kwara states were also at the ceremony while that of Rivers State was represented by his deputy.

Trouble started at the First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso venue of the wedding when the dignitaries joined Alao-Akala for a thanksgiving dance after the couple’s solemnization.

The governors were already on the dancing floor when Obasanjo-Bello, who sat behind the governors at the church, stood up and was dancing towards the altar to drop her offering but was stopped by an aide of Daniel.

Daniel’s security man insisted that she had no right to pass through the dignitaries and that her style of dancing would disturb his boss.

Attempts by Obasanjo-Bello to break the blockade were vehemently resisted by the security man who pushed her away from the scene.

The Senator, who was obviously enraged by the treatment meted out to her by the security man, slapped the man on the chest. The man, however, moved back to his position.

When she could no longer contain the embarrassing situation, Obasanjo-Bello furiously returned to her seat to watch further proceedings at the wedding service in anger.

The situation drew the attention of everybody including Alao-Akala, who signaled to the officiating ministers to fast track the event to a close.

At a point, the Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, had to plead with Obasanjo-Bello to come and sit near him when he saw the anger visibly written on her face.

The gesture notwithstanding, Obasanjo-Bello wore a long face through out the occasion.

But Alao-Akala, while reacting to the development through his Special Adviser on Public Communication, Mr. Dotun Oyelade, described the incident as a little skirmish.

Eko Ile:
There is a special vote for this within the discretionary budget and if you have issues with what Fashola is spending to help Lagosians, get at the state lawmakers, they approve every penny he spends,
I'd appreciate any evidence you can provide that shows that the said N7m came from within a "discretionary budget" (slush fund), if one exists. I'd also be interested in the total amount available for spending, in this discretionary budget. It is not sufficient to attempt to put the wool over our eyes in the name of some arguably fallacious idea.
Politics › Re: Gov. Fashola Finances treatment of Ailing Nollywood Actor, Ifeanyi Dike by nduchucks: 1:27pm On Feb 12, 2011
Anyone who provides a lending hand to Ifeanyi Dike deserves a lot of thanks for a worthy cause.  I'd however, like to know where Fashola got the N7million from? Was the money from state coffers or Fashola's personal resources?

This kind of charity should be extended to the abused street beggers(children) in Lagos and orphans, as well. A matching N7million would save at least 10 children and permanently remove them from the unfortunate condition they find themselves.

Who the heck decided to change our national anthem?  I remind some of you tribalists of the lyrics:  :  cry

Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribes and tongues may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,

Nigerians all are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed
