I was lost one day and was asking for directions. It was near an army barrack. My only crime was stopping to ask for direction and I was with my wife.

A young soldier wielding a rifle ordered me to come down from the car or he'll shoot me. I wanted to drive off but my wife begged me not to.

I got down and this guy made me do frog jump for some minutes before starting to laugh and asking me where I was looking for. I told him and he volunteered to show me the way.

He later told me that his reason for humiliating "himself" was because he saw a babe in my car. That he didn't know she was my wife. He didn't say sorry oh.

I said OK. But from that day, if I see a Nigerian soldier dying, I'll simply walk away.

Definitely not true, I am an example of such and i turned out well that's if you take out alcohol, depression and stuff. My Mother never took out frustration on us, then again it was a widow situation not single mother, plus never liked my dad before and after his death. I would say it depends on the individual, if anything guys raised by only the mother have it tough and also will have a hard time as they would have learnt to be self sufficient. Most times when i see kids with two parents i feel weird because am not used to it, visiting day in school for me was hell, my mother was a banker so she had to work at a young age i already realized what we and my mother had to face, it meant understanding anytime she had to be absent. The only negative effect i can say is that it has made me adjust emotionally in the sense that i find it hard to reach out to anyone or share with anyone, since i was brought up like this.

Note that I kept saying that male children need a GOOD father figure. Not just any father but a good one.
Take it from a guy that has a wife and six sisters. The emotional and psychological makeup of males and females are totally different. Without one partner, the equation in my own opinion will never be balanced.

A son definitely needs a good father figure. A boy's psyche will be totally messed up when raised only by a woman.

This woman has issues with men and the African society. She'll definitely pour out her frustrations on the innocent boys. A good man's presence is needed to balance this equation.

Once you poke her she will claim you are hers. Guys please if you don't want a woman for a relationship, don't touch her and don't accept unusual favours from her.

Why talk about marriage now? Don't be in a hurry to marry her. Start from dating and see how it goes. Please do not clutter your mind with thoughts of marriage yet.
