I doubt if lot of people will still subscribe to Naira TB and Bond with what is going on in the country....
I tried buying bond last week from the secondary market but couldn't get. So this very new issue would end in over subscription

Hello wise ones I greet u all.

I have about 20 million naira which is a combination of both principal and interest from repeated investment in treasury bill during the gud old days until rates went dust. Since then I’ve refused to put it in again.

With the current economic down turn of the country with this corona virus, how do you suggest I invest this money to be sure I ride above inflation?

This fund is for zero risk investments so it can’t go into real estate or business.

Initially, I wanted to lock it down in a 10 to 30 years fgn bond at 14.85%. This bond was announced early January. I’ve discussed with Stanbic stockbrokers and they’ve opened my cscs account, and insisted I can only buy from secondary market (at 11% to 13%) since minimum amount for primary is 50 million.

However, suddenly I’ve even lost faith in this federal government. Naira is on free fall, federal government so broke that its wants to deep hands into pension funds to build infrastructure and borrowing Nigeria to death.

I need help and suggestions of how to invest this. As well as Eurobonds with good rates. If you were in my shoes, what will u do? Thank you.

Euro bond is not a reliable investment right now considering the economic meltdown. Go for naira bond which is way easier to repay by the federal government. Worst case scenario, they will print naira and pay but as for Eurobond, just know that naija no dey print dollar oooo. My 2cent advice.

Go for short term bonds like 3 to 4yrs. Am investing N16.5m tomorrow on a 4yrs bond which will likely yield N2.3m annually for me. For me, am better off with bond.

Thanks and how do you go about it. I have savings account with stanbic and opened Afrinvest account recently

Bro run away from Afriinvest. They are outrageous with their charges. Imagine charging a brokerage fee of N256000 for an investment of 27m. Thanks to Ukah who opened my eyes and stopped me. I finally port to Stanbic brokers who charged me a total of N25000 for the same 27m. Pls run as fast as u can.

Anybody telling you that you need 50,000,000 is lying, try another organization. The requirements are clearly stated on DMO official website, please see attached, don't let one organization tell you rubbish and you give up like that

https://www.dmo.gov.ng/fgn-bonds

There is no lies there. Morgan capital and stanbic categorically told me to raise 50million to bid in primary market as that is the minimum for subscription

The cars, house and clothes we bought 10years ago have depreciated or has consumed more money to maintain. Personally, i dont like been too careful. Those securing their money in dollars, what if naira appreciates againts dollars, i have tried my little best by investing. I leave the rest to nature.

U said my mind. In 2012, canadian dollar was higher than us dollar but today, us dollar is higher than Canadian dollar. Inside life

It's like this FGN Bond is not for small players o.

I saw that on their site but got a different mail from morgan capital which stated that the minimum is N10000.

I have been pondering on this question. In 10 years, could we see an exchange of over N500 to a dollar? Any government that allows that would have thrown our country to the dogs. But then, looking back, 10 years ago, naira was exchanging at about N150 to a dollar. Now, it's circa N360. Any thoughts?

You can sell. Just open a stock brokerage account and monitor it, u can even tell ur stock brokers to advice u on best time to sell. Most people do not hold till maturity and remember that all the secondary market bonds are owned by someone. It doesnt make sense to stack ur money in the bank as we do not know when TB is coming back. Do the bond, convert the coupon payment to dollars and invest it in Eurobond. Very simple.

Even if it is oversubscribed they will give priority to small Investors.

Union Bank raised N20 billion via commercial papers @5%, pension fund managers bought everything within minutes.

Sir, that one tire me. Person no fit invest this days in peace without over subscription. Morgan capital sent me another union bank CP which will take place on Monday.
