<quote> But the new “Boko Haram” has no known leader or leaders, not even one with an assumed name. Their mode of operation is more like a copycat of MEND’s methods. The thinking pattern seems to be to copy closely the MEND’s method through which it was able to wrest the presidency for Jonathan, their kinsman. There are those who allege that should this group succeed in, somehow or the other, driving Jonathan out of power and a Northerner finds himself in Aso Villa the attacks might cease almost immediately, just as MEND’s has since done. </quote> This is quite shocking and hard to believe that SoutH-South leaders in a meeting to revive political significance will make a statement such as this public. It shows arrogance and lack of forethought. I didn't hear the say anything of the October 1st bombing by MEND. Where is that in the context of subsequent eruptions by Boko. Could Boko have interpreted that action as a challenge? Where's the analysis on that relationship? |
So amnesty with BH is out, negotiation is out? Politial paddy-paddy is in. Okada-man, help man pikin sob for this country o!! |
A national party that wins Presidential race ought to have policies that attract civic participation and patriotism (a party of inclusion). A winning party should not be begging for patriotism. PDP is a loser! Democratic victory requires more than just occupying positions, it also need the most vital element to run successffully - the people engagement. |
Indeed Mallorca, time will tell! |
Searching for a Mamman Nur is like searching for a Mike Smith, there are thousands by the name. If intelligence claims that Mamman is "notorious", then it can be deduced that he is: 1. known to anti-crime units in Nigeria; 2. Known in crime circles on the street; 3. He has a open dossier with active surveillance operated by an international anti-terrorism group. For these many track-able outlets, findding Mamman should not be too difficult; unless the mention of his "notoriety" is nothing but a term-drop to give the imppression of seriousness and credibility on the part of intelligence gathering. We need facts not fraud from our intelligence units. Likewise, if a Boko Haram operative is known to have link with al Qaeda and then is recently been in Somalia, he should long time ago have been picked up for interrogation and all his communication as well, places of residence bugged to collect information on him and others he corresponds with. Why wasn't that done? How many more strategic assets are on target for demolition and how many more Mamman Nur's are out there and known for "notoriety"? Its time to collect them. I'm not sure anyone of us in here in NL is trained on intelligence gathering but I recall in many discussions where many of you have put two and two together with accurate conclusion that Somalians, Darfurians, Chadians, Nigerien's and possibly, Libyans will soon see the relatively small scale success of Boko Haram as a rallying point to escalate and accomplish goals that their own respective locales had denied them. Why did the arithmetic of the conspiracy escape the minds of our trained and paid SSS analysts? |
How would they sound if it was in Lagos? |
Kandikane, The song goes something like. . . . "ori, ori o; Olajumoke n'lo". |
Try Ereko, Oke Arin or Ebute Ero markets. |
How's Kano Governor releasing BH members from priosn different from Gej awarding amnesty to them with negotiation for monetary payout? |
I agree, Faseun should say "West", not SW and not South. We have nothing to do with South. |
To all persons hoping for a foreign intervention to deal with the North, when MEND attacks would you also like the foreign security service to deal with South? The moment you express a desire for a foreign element to deal with any other region of Nigeria, then you have submitted to the push by many of us cakling for the dissolution of Nigeria. Welcome to our fold! |
What has your response to do with my post? |
People just pen all kind of shyit in the name of journalism - stupid things that make no sense. Its no wonder govt ignore such complaints. Lagos did not make anyone poor, people thronged to Lagos and ended up with dissapointed dreams and became poor. There was free education, free health care, excellent public amenities before all these crazy flooding of migrants into Lagos. If Lagos does not have what you came in hope of getting, then go back to where you came from or move on elsewhere that can provide it for you and stop criticizing the Lagos Govt uneessarily. Fashola does not owe you anything. You owe yourself everything, including those basic necessities you are agitating for. |
Beaf, We are poisoned. We are always looking for outlets to spit venom. We are not conscious of it because the spirit is affected. Its an involuntary reaction to tragedy, we find glee in other people's tragedy. |
Abagworo, Ifa and Afa sound similar but its preemptive and misleading to say they are similar in practice without understanding what Afa is. Share with us what Afa means and where the roots and practice is about. |
Beaf, I don't see you as Gej supporter, rather I see you as his promoter. A promoter is first a supporter and then a bush-whacker as well. You are outfront clearing and breaking down obstacles that if left intact could do great damage to the President's political fan base. I admire what you do and believe people should support and promote their leaders faithfully. I noticed that you are only breaking the opponents' voice and not offering a response that speak in defense of the President's in-actions. For instance, we see the President responding vigorously to an international target but very lackadaisical to a domestic targets commited by same group. Are the foreigner's interest more important and urgent than the citizen's? Also, what happens to the amnesty reward already promised in negotiation with Boko Haram? Their motive is political; while a monetary compensation was all it took to control MEND, Boko will not be calmed with money. I'm not even sure they are interested in money. To effectively dilute the mounting opposition against Gej, promoters like yourself will need to start shepherding the discussions and proactively creating leads to shape perception in his favor. Start telling us what pattern you observe in Boko and give assessment of how Gej will act to dominate and terminate them. You don't want us (the Gej doubters) to shepherd and lead the discussion topics. I fear for the longevity of his regime! |
@op, They are faceless to us, but the authorities have been in negotiation with them and so they have some knowledge of who speaks for BH. They want political separation from everything non-Sharia sanctioned. |
Seyi, No,they do not. However, there is no prohibition either. So an inmate is free to request whatever; doesn't mean he/she gets the demand met but it grabs attention into an area of jurisdiction that is vulnerable under the civil rights act of 1964. The Republicans foresaw this possibility and hence cautioned against trying any terror case under the criminal legal system; they wanted a military tribunal. In a military tribunal, Mutallab can request whatever he wants but he will never get a representation on it. He is being held under a Federal court, which he means he has rights to due process of law and hence he can get a lawyer to argue his request for Sharia trial. Will he win, depends on how the courts interprete and rule on the law and the broad powers of the civil rights act against constitutional articles of individual access and how broadly or narrowly it is argued. I want to say plenty of same people that now see this new development as crazy are the same ones that spewed idiocratic nonsense against Republicans for opposing Obama on the repeal of Bush's military tribunal policy. This is why I accuse them of short term memory. |
We have a full year to prepare for review and ratification. Yorubaland should wake up. |

9ja, You came close but by a point, the theme is philosophy generally; not Islam. Blacks are in higher proportion in American prison system than any other race of people. American govt respects Black American moslems far more than it does Black American christians. This is a fact! Mutallab is reading books and he is finding new strength for political voice. If he wins he will have a following, whether we like it or not. Malcom X was declared terrorist by FBI, so was MLK. KKK was not a terrorist! Its no point arguing the point, you came close to the getting the point and that is sufficient. This is my last post on the topic. |
May the souls of the dead rest in peace. |
@op, Instead of putting bounty on their head FG is rewarding them with bounties. FG know who they are. They had started the amnesty negotiation already. |
Rhymz, Malcom X was a street criminal, an illiterate that couldn't read or write. While in prison he had access to the library books and with determination and resolve taught himself. His contact with Moslems in prison also had a great impact in finding his own internal capabilities. He became a voice in prison when he started reading and advising on legal defense tactics. I know you or others will likely say its unrelated, but I need you guys to broaden your mind. Mutallab knows he is either getting a life or death, so the outcome of his trial is predictive. He is not fighting that with this declaration. The dude is trying to force the courts into a corner. That's his bragging rights in prison and gives him credibility. If he can use a non-prohibitive angle to delay trial, amend law, or cause a mistrial, he has won politically, it doesn't matter if he is executed the next hour after the victory. He will die with a smile. Psychologically, purpose can change and take on a new direction simply because the mind of man cannot be confined even though he is physically incarcerated - the mind continues to work and come up with ideas. He might have been stuupid for being a bomber and we might not agree with the ideas, but an objective assessment, void of bias input, will tell you this new development is a brilliant move. |
Thirst4life, I read your response and I have a question for you. Do you know what approach defense lawyers use in America to win a criminal case for their clients? Most people call it finding loopholes. The approach is to find a non-prohibitive clause from which to argue the foundation of the law and thereby create reasonable doubt, or perhaps cause enough attention that the law is changed. The connection I made between Mutallab and the antelope inmate is valid and has comparison from the perspective of both inmates. You don't need a release from prison to have legal victory. Its you against a system and if you loose the legal battle for release then win a political battle for change. Again, I say Mutallab is brilliant. |
If Nigeria would need foreign intervention to quell Boko Haram menace, then truthfully, we will not be able to defend against a foreign invasion of our country. Massob and Ibos have a great window of opportunity to break Biafra off now. Nigeria is handicapped. |
<quote> What kind of smart kid allows himself to be used like they used him, if he had any iota of smarts, he prolly would ve told his handlers to atleast make available one of their own childrien for the operation or better still, they join him as well. </quote> Rhymz, We discussed his rationale for participation months ago. On this topic we are looking at a new development. Talk to the update on his status. |
I don't care how many light years away the distance is, tell these astronomers I own that planet. Any unauthorized landing or speculation on my property will be met with full legal fight and inter-gallactic battle. Lol! |
I am shocked! Some of you who profess scholarship are only scholars when it comes to blowing big grammar. In matters where your mental capacity is extolled to reason you are lazy and indolent. Mutallab asked to be tried under Sharia law. The first thing a scholar would do is ponder the reason why he would make such a request and then read to understand what the Sharia says about the charges against Mutallab. Under the American law he has rights to make such demand. He also has rights against any discrimination based on religious practice. In addition, the law stipulates that persons charged with criminality shall be tried by jurors seleted amongst their peers. When you put all these in perspective, Mutallab is brilliant and may force the courts into a difficult corner. Some years ago in a Georgia prison, an inmate refused to eat prison meal on religious grounds. He observed that Moslems in the prison were fed a special diet of halal meat and food cleanliness. He petitioned the prison superintendent in writing asking for his demands for antelope meat to be met. They ignored him and ruled him insane. Well, he filed a civil lawsuit on discrimination and won. His victory was ruled technical! This forced the state and the prison to change some rules and blocked certain loopholes that made such lawsuits possible. We have to wonder at the end if that inmate was not smarter than the government officials |
<quote> “One thing is very clear, terrorist attack on any individual or any group is a terrorist attack to the rest of the world, it is not just about the UN office in Nigeria. We will work with the UN and all the world leaders, of course, many of them have contacted me between yesterday and today”, he said. </quote> In this caption, Gej is ceeding the responsibilkity of Nigerian security to international powers. Gej is incapable of securing the country. So what happens now to the amnesty promised to Boko Haram? Beaf, what do you say to this development? |
