Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has saidthe judgment of the Supreme Court on the governorship elections in Akwa Ibom and Abia states is a victory for democracy and a triumph of patriotism over dictatorship and harassment. The governor, who stated this in Ado-Ekiti today while reacting to the legal victory of Governors Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), at the apex court, noted that all hope was not lost as far as people see the judiciary as their last hope. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor commended the justices of the Supreme Court for determining to dispense justice without fear or favour despite subtle intimidation and harassment. “Those who are true lovers of democracy and patriotic Nigerians should show the courage needed to confront those who want to subvert the will of the people freely expressed through the ballot. We must also rise up and condemn any subterranean move to cow the judicial arm to do the bidding of some powers that be. “A situation where judicial officers are intimidated by the comments made by some people in authority is condemnable. There is separation of powers in our constitution and all arms of government know what they need to do for our country to run smoothly and not as a personalfiefdom of anybody,” he said. Governor Fayose also decried the statement by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, describing the affirmation of the electoral victory of Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyessom Wike asastonishing. “One may initially think Odigie-Oyegun was merely lamenting their loss as a politician who has the interest of the people at heart. But going down his speech, the real motive for their desperation to win some states through the backdoor was exposed. "His lamentation that the loss of an oil rich state, no matter who low the price of crude oil is, revealed their greed. They are not after the welfare of the people, but are concerned with what they would gain from the commonwealth of the people. Nigerians can now see that they have nothing to offer, but are only after the ‘spoils’ of what they think they can get illegally,” he said. source:http://dailypost.ng/2016/02/04/akwa-ibom-abia-polls-fayose-thumbs-up-judiciary-faults-oyeguns-comment-on-rivers/ |

Media aide to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State,Lere Olayinka, has averred that nobody should link his principal with the arrest order issued by a chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on the former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dr. Temitope Aluko. Speaking in a telephone conversation with DAILYPOST, Olayinka called for the course of justice to be followed strictly on the matter, stressing that “We should not run a society where somebody will go to court last year to say something and come back to say something else. ”While exonerating Governor Fayose from instigating the arrest warrant, he explained, “a lawyer in Ado Ekiti here, Olowulafe Sunday, wrote a petition to the Attorney General of Ekiti state and you should know that the Attorney General of Ekiti also has the power to prosecute an offender. “So based on the petition of that lawyer, there is no how the Attorney General of a state can prosecute crime without the police first investigating what was alleged. It is on this basis that the Attorney General approached the court to give an order that the police should arrest and investigate him (Aluko) so that he can be prosecuted. ”Dr. Aluko had last week claimed that what transpired in the 2014 governorship election in the state was a high level of manipulation, claiming that the military was used to rig the election in favour of Fayose. He also alleged that former President, Goodluck Jonathan gave $37mto Fayose to use in prosecuting the election. Meanwhile, Olayinka disclosed that the arrest order came as a result of allegations of perjury, stating that the embattled former PDP chief had earlier testified before the tribunal that the election that brought in Fayose was devoid of irregularities. source:http://dailypost.ng/2016/02/03/fayoses-aide-reveals-how-arrest-order-was-issued-on-aluko/ |

LAGOS— The International Criminal Court, ICC, at The Hague has confirmed that it is consideringpetition submitted to it by a human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN,over alleged crimes against humanity committed in the context of the arms procurement scandal.Falana. The ICC revealed this in a letter dated February 1, 2016 with reference: OTP-CR-32/16 and signed by Mark P. Dillon, Head of Information & Evidence Unit of the ICC.The letter read in part: The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court acknowledges receipt of your documents/letter. This communication has been duly entered in the Communications Register of the Office.“We will give consideration to this communication, as appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.” Falana had in a petition dated January 19, 2016 requested the ICC to “investigate allegations of crimes against humanity committed against the Nigerian people by some former and serving military as well as public officials and private persons who engaged in the criminal diversion of $8 billion earmarked to procure equipment for the armed forces to fight insurgency.” source:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/arms-probe-falanas-petition-against-dasuki-okonjo-iweala-arrives-icc/ |
Senate Majority leader, Senator Ali Ndume has said he will testify against former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki(rtd) and all those involved in the $2.1billion arms dealat the International Criminal Court, ICC. Ndume while speaking with Daily Trust commended the effort of human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, for his stance on the matter.Falana had recently said he will be approaching ICC to try all those indicted in the fraud with charges of War crimes.Speaking further, Ndume said, “As far as we are concerned, these people shared blood money. Borno elders have made our position known on this through a statement they issued. We stand by our elders’ statement that anybody who shared from the money meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram, is part of the sect, or they are sponsors of the sect.Identifying the various classes of Boko Haram, Ndume said, “The army of Boko Haram, the supporters of Boko Haram and the sponsors of Boko Haram. Those people that shared the money for the purchase of arms are part of Boko Haram.”Ndume who expressed support for the fight against corruption by the present government noted, “We are supporting the government in the investigation and recovery of the funds. In fact, we are saying the government should take the case to Hague.“ We are very glad that somebody in the person of Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has taken the case further by going to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Kudos to him. If need be, I’m willing to testify at the ICC against those who collected the money meant for the Boko Haram war. This is because I am a victim too.“We stand by Falana and we are going to support him to pursue the case at the ICC. We are not surprised that Falana has taken the case further because he is always by the side of the oppressed”.He furthe slammed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over claims that the ongoing anti-corruption crusade was a witch-hunt against its members.“ Dasukigate is not a witch-hunt because it is a fact that they shared the money meant for the Boko Haram war. Is the money stolen or not? They stole the money and they must be prosecuted for it. It has gone beyond politics. Apart from Falana, the international community has commended the country for trying to recoverthe arms money. John Kerry in particular said they were in total support of Nigeria,” he said source:http://dailypost.ng/2016/02/01/armsgate-im-willing-to-testify-against-dasuki-others-at-icc-senator-ndume/ |
Prophet Kayode Abiara is the General-Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide. He talks about the $2.1bn arms deal among other sundry issues with KEMI ASHEFON Recently, some pastors were accused of liaising with politicians and collecting money from them for spiritual purposes. What is your take on this? I read about it in the newspapers and I still insist that those who made the allegation must mention the names of the pastors involved. If the former Security Adviser, Col.Sambo Dasuki (retd), gave money to pastors, let him name those he gave money to. I remember when former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, alleged that some pastors collected N6bn to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election and to discredit the then presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), I took a stand and insisted that he must mention names. He is an intelligent man and knows what to do on such issues. We have not heard anyone mentioning any pastor’s name. What do you have to say about the arrest and prosecution of some individuals allegedly involved in siphoning $2.1bn meant for the procurement of arms for the Army to tackle insurgency? We thank God for this new government because President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to right the wrongs of many decades. I know that the President wants to recover alot of stolen funds stashed in any part of theworld and I applaud him for that.I don’t see anything wrong in telling looters to refund all the money they stole. But I believe the recent trial of some suspects should be hastened up and they should be permitted to refund the money. Buhari should pardon them if they return the money and then, let’s move the country forward. There is a lot of work to be done in the country, especially on our dwindling economy. We should not waste time on the arms probe and the prosecution of suspects. We need to move on. I pray that all the recovered money will be judiciously used. Are you calling for pardon for anyone found guilty? Yes, they should be pardoned as long as they refund all the stolen funds to government’s coffers. Even Jesus Christ said if anyone confesses his sins, he should be pardoned. But the soldiers were helpless due to lack of sophisticated weapons to tackle terrorists which made Boko Haram to kill many. If the Federal Government pardons the looters, those who want to steal would still steal. If they are not pardoned, it does not stop people from stealing. I am not against bringing thieves to book and I believe prosecuting them will serve as a deterrent to others. Even God say, ‘thou shall not steal.’ But the Holy Books also talked about pardoning sinners. Remember that Jesus Christ prayed for a thief while he was on thecross. What I am advocating is for the government to recover the stolen money, utilise the money, stabilise the economy and move the country forward. Now that crude oil prices have dwindled and the Central Bank of Nigeria has warned citizens to prepare for hard times, what do you think is the way forward? Economic downturn is not manifesting in Nigeria only other countries in the world are experiencing same. God is the answer and the Bible enjoins us to turn to Him when we are troubled, to pray and He promises to heal our land. The church of God in Nigeria has been organising prayer retreats and lifting the country to God in prayers. The Christ Apostolic Church worldwide prays for Nigeria every last three days of themonth. Currently, we are holding another programme in Odo-Owa, Kwara State, where we will also pray for Nigeria. I know very soon, Nigerians will smile again. Also, I believe government should indentify loopholes in the system and block leakages. Now, the trend is the $2.1bn arms scandal and the trial of suspects involved in the diversion of the fund. But what about other areas where monies have been stolen? I know they have started work on recovering Abacha loot, but I believe they can still do more and not dwell on just one. Do you think we should be talking of pardon at this stage when some countries now mete out capital punishment to looters? Then, let the National Assembly promulgate laws that will deal with corruption and how looters should be treated. It’s not for me to decide. As the Evangelist general of the CAC worldwide, what are you doing to solve the crisis rocking the church? There is nothing strange in crisis rocking any organisation. It is the handiwork of Satan because he does not want a united church. That is the reason he goes about creating chaos among brethrens, ministers of God and everywhere in the kingdom of God. But God has conquered him and the victory belongs to the church. We thank God because peace will reign and the crisis will come to an end. The church of God is matching on and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it. What is your take on the same sex marriage that has crept into the church of God abroad? Thank God Nigeria did not embrace it and our legislative arm has condemned it. God, in His word, described homosexuality as an abomination. He also condemned lesbianism. These are signs of the end time and no right-thinking Christian should embrace homosexuality. Those involved in this despicable act are inviting the wrath of God upon them. What is your advice to Nigerians in this period of economy crisis? First, let’s turn to God and seek His face. Then, let our youths embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship. They should harness their potential and that is what President Muhammadu Buhari has been preaching to them. Also, we should not forget to go back to the farm. We once lived on cocoa, groundnuts and other crops that were viable exports. What happened to them? Over-dependence on oil is the reason we are where we are today. Where are the cocoa farms? Where are the groundnut pyramids in the North? Even coals in Enugu State have been abandoned. Everyone is asking for a share of oil derivatives when we can go back to the farm and revive the cash crops. When we do all these, we will not experience any hard time as predicated by the Central Bank of Nigeria. You predicted that Boko Haram would become history in Nigeria… God said unless Boko Haram have power more than Him, that’s when they would prevail, but if He is the all-powerful, Boko Haram would be crushed. The year 2016 is a year God will root out the menace of the wicked. Kidnappers and thieves will meet their waterloo this year. What God demands from Nigerians is to come closer to Him and pray more. From leadership, He demands unity—there must be no fractions. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari will succeed in the next four years if he remains united with those he is working with. To those who are agitating for Biafra, what is your advice? They should sheathe their swords and allow peace reign. I am sure those who are old and who witnessed the civil war will never call for Biafra again. It is an experience we pray would never happen again. The bloodletting of 1966 was too much. May peace reign in Nigeria source:http://www.punchng.com/fg-should-pardon-those-who-return-loot-abiara/ |

Raging allegations from former Plantashun Boys member, Blackface against the ‘AfricanQueen’ crooner Tuface Idibia, has continued to be met with silence as neither him nor his manager, Efe Omoregie, has chosen to reply the former. A series of tweets from Blackface on Tuesday, revealed an animosity between the duo that has hitherto, managed to stay below the surface of their relationship. At the centre of the controversy was Tuface’s ‘Let Somebody Love You’, one of the songs on his ‘Ascension’ album, which Blackface had alleged was originally his song but ended up being nicked by Tuface.“You singing #LetsomebodyLoveYou without telling me when you know its (sic) my song isn’t going down without the world knowing what you and you (sic) manager Efe been doing …am coming for una (sic), don’t get it twisted #ItsGameOn”, Blackface said in his post. Blackface goes on to allege that he was indeed the one who gave Tuface his stage name.“U (sic) been avoiding me and hiding behindyour mask, recordin my songs witout (sic) my consent, takin out my credits to steal mypublishin (sic),” he said in other posts. When Tuface’s manager was contacted, he toldSaturday Beats, “We don’t have any comment, we don’t want to join any issues with him.”This allegation, which has come as a surprise to many, came on the backdrop of a similar allegation by Blackface against Whizkid. Meanwhile in an interview which the singer granted to a television station during the week, he said he was surprised that his former label mate would attack him in a manner. He added he has no bad blood against Blackface.“It’s just so unfortunate. I don’t know where it is coming from. I’m trying to think of different reasons. I thought maybe his account was hacked or something. Apparently it wasn’t hacked, so we’ll trash the whole matter. But I’ve got nothing but love and respect for him and it’s just so unfortunate that he’s coming at me like that,” Tuface had said in the interview source:http://www.punchng.com/tuface-will-not-join-issues-with-blackface-manager/ |
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has expressed shock that N60 billion, equivalent of 1% of consolidated revenue guaranteed by the National Health Act to fund basic health, is missing from the 2016 budget. The group lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari’s N6.08 trillion “budget of change” only provides N1, 448 per capita health spending, lower than the N1, 546 per capita spending in 2015, compared with a recommendation of N6, 908 by the World Health Organisation. A statement on Friday signed by NMA president, Dr Kayode Obembe, asked the National Assemblyto “urgently review and revise the paltry allocation of N221.7 billion to the health ministry in the 2016 Appropriation Bill.”It condemned “the sharp departure from the prescribed 15% of the national budget for health made in 2001 in a meeting of African Heads of States and Government which Nigeria hosted in Abuja.” “Allocation for health amounts to only 3.65% of the 2016 budget and would never encourage the advancement of universal health coverage which is the only panacea towards improving availability, access, quality and efficiency of the health services to reduce the disparaging health indices which continue to malign the image of our country in the comity of nations. “It is our considered opinion that Nigeria should show the way and provide leadership in Africa after having failed in this regard since 2001.“Health allocation has hovered between three and six percent since 2001, compared with one-third of countries at the Abuja Declaration that have allocated at least 10% of their budget tohealth.“Tanzania, Rwanda, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Malawi and Central African Republic have all marked up to 15% of their budget for health, according to WHO figures. “It is on this premise that we call on the National Assembly as the only organ that could mitigate this looming disaster in the healthcare delivery sector in 2016 at this juncture, to look dispassionately without any partisan sentiments at what should be done to substantially increase the allocation to the health ministry in order to deliver better healthcare to the Nigerian people,” said Obembe. He said despite government’s lofty plans to revitalise 1000 primary health centres by 2017 and upgrade tertiary hospitals to centres of excellence in order to mitigate medical tourism, only commensurate funding could drive the proposals to reasonable actualisation. “In this era of reduction in oil revenue, the economy will rest mainly on human resource potentialities and manpower developmental output,” said Obembe.“Therefore the only road to economic recovery is for the Government to guarantee basic minimum package of healthcare to every citizen through Universal Health Coverage, UHC. “The panacea for the UHC is Community Based Health Insurance. This is achievable by increased budgetary allocation to healthcare (15%) and operationalization of National Health Act.” source:http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/30/n60bn-health-fund-missing-from-buharis-budget-of-change-nigerian-doctors/ |

MTN is super broke no wonder they keep sending messages and if u are not careful, ur credit will be deducted |
The federal government has disowned the out of court settlement offer by telecoms firm MTN overthe $3.4 billion fine slammed on it in December last year. MTN was fined $5.2bn by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in October for regulatory infractions, but later reduced it to$3.4 billion but MTN later went to court to challenge the fine. The company on Friday issued a statement, saying it would now settle the case with the government out of court. But the minister of communications Barrister Adebayo on Tuesday in Abuja said the federal government was not aware of any out of court settlement over the fine. "We are not aware of any out of court settlement on the issue. We will not accept out of court settlement until MTN willingly discontinue the case”, Adebayo said at a press conference where he unveiled the new ICT road map for 2016-2020. He said MTN wanted to buy time by taking the federal government to court instead of paying thefine. The government would slug it out with the company to the final point, he said. source:http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/-3-4bn-fine-fg-rejects-mtn-s-out-of-court-settlement-offer/130765.html |
