so you saw OP mention that she leaves home at 5am, comes back at 10pm and writes report till 12am (without even hinting at the fact that she might be willing to tone it down). . .majority of the folks here hinged their reply on that fact.

as i said earlier, this thread should have been posted in family, not in romance.

the AMD would be a better buy in this case, it's a dual core while the celeron is a single core processor

also the AMD hard drive is larger. however AMD processors heat up more than intels.

for now, it's just cooking, it might end up being more, i'm all for women working and finding themselves but 5am to 10pm? writing reports till 12am? that's way beyond too much, when do you have time for your husband? how does he feel about it?

men have egos o, while you're trying to get him over to his side, make sure you're careful not to put yourself in a position where his ego is bruised. Cos if it becomes a matter of ego then you'll have a very bad case.

personally the idea of my wife coming consistently home after me is just wrong.

of which this isn't a 'romance' topic, the OP is missing out on a lot of good advice, heck if it was in family, there's no way mr cork would have found it to post his brand of  errr. . .wisdom.
CareerRe: Welcome To My Office by netotse(m): 2:06pm On Sep 07, 2010
thankfully i wont be around when my boss sees the latest mail we have from one of our manufacturers, after all the stress of opening an LC for the

manufacturing of some insulators like this(it's taken close to 4 months for something that should be around a month), with us having to switch

banks in the middle of the deal sef, the manufacturers just mailed us to say their bankers wont accept the LC cos it's dollars denominated and the

bank that we used for the LC which i wont mention. . .(what the heck, it's *drumroll*. . .unitybank) is on a list of banks the US thinks have 'k-leg', so

we have to either change the currency used for the LC or change the bank involved, we're already behindschedule on the project the insulators are

meant for, and it's starting to look like the goods wont have been manufactured by the time the LC is set to close, (and we've already extended the

LC once because of all the wahala), i wonder which wayo oga will use to sort this matter out.

On another note, i went snooping in the office and saw the terms the specialists coming to help us are getting and i'm like 'so me i'm not a human

being abi?'. . .i just dey wait make dem call staff meeting by mistake

this has me wondering if i want to have anything to do with the business side of things, all these bankers sef. . .

goggs:
The absence of fibre links for some providers between Lagos and the rest of the country will mean that improved services will be restricted to the Lagos area for now. This, I think, is particularly true of Starcomms and etisalat. They will likely redirect their Lagos traffic (which is the bulk in terms of demand) through the undersea cables and for us in the rest of the country it will likely be access through slow satellite links. And the result is that costs are unlikely to come down soon and they will face harse competition from Providers that have such links like glo and MTN.

NCC licensed some long distance carriers like NEPSKOM and Alheri Engineering. They were supposed provide the sort of cross country links that companies like starcomms and etisalat can buy capacity from. It will save them money as the infrastructure will be shared and maintained by the carrier company. As far as i know NEPSKOM is all barely existing, Dangote (Alheri) strung some fibre between Lagos and Benin 2 years and now  cement business seem to be the most on his mind.

Thats where glo has an advantage. It has fibre links from Lagos through, ibadan, Abuja, Kaduna, Kano. I hear also it runs from Abuja to Jos, Markurdi Yola and maiduguri. Dunno much about the coverage in the east sha. If and when they get their act together and truly launch, they can easily deploy this bandwidth further than most  providers cos of these cables. So that's why when glo made the announcement about their cable, people paid attention cos of this potential to reach inland but alas, information management is not their strong point hence the back and forth story telling and subsequent intense frustration we all feel.

As for MTN in Abuja, they are the network to beat. I can attest to the fact that their speeds have improved vastly. On browsing alone I get 1.5mbps on the average, when downlowning using accelerators i get up to 2.6mbps. My only gripe is that the data allowance is so expensive and runs out so fast. They also have extensive fiber network and they appear to be using them. They are really not much noise makers when it comes to infrastructure investments. I heard from a contractor of theirs the other day that MTN wants to incorporate Universities in their metro fibre link project to provide internet access to institutions in towns where their fibre passes. Now if its true, its fantastic and yet MTN may just keep quiet and spring a surprise. Imagine the bandwidth market in just half of Nigerian Universities.

If it were glo, they would be at the rooftops talking about what is not yet on ground using annoying superlative terms. MTN is annoying expensive, but action is better than noise. I'll go for expensive action other than cheap noise.

I hope glo learns to keep their mouths shut and their hands busy. I hope they launch sooner than later, cos the prospects are there
@goggs
PHCN has fibre optic cable attached to it's 330kV transmission lines(and some 132kV) as skywire, in the north the cables are leased to 3phase telecoms(cornelius adebayo) in the south dancom (dangote) i hear one of them just awarded a contract to build 700 base stations(and an NOC i think) they can be used to carry the traffic to different parts of the country(i think they are already being used sef, i'm not so sure), the downside is that once in a while, the cables might be vandalized.

i gather installation is usually a certain percentage of the cost of the equipment, i was told circa 17% can anyone comment on this?

and then, what is the point of asking for a discount or saying you want to negotiate when all that happens is someone(in this case poor me) is told, "add 25% to the price for the purpose of negotiation and discount" ? isn't it a study in hypocrisy?

it says Globacom $600 mill facility to crash telecoms rates by 40%

does that mean 10k subscription will now be 6k?

MTN may be in trouble now. . . . . . . . . hope they have had enough of extreme ripping off of customers and ready to be sane.

on the down side, if prices do get slashed, we can expect the new rates to be permanent for the next 10 years. since glo brought per sec and slightly reduced rates, the prices for calls have been static.!!!!
