Basseti:how many nigerians will call their driver at 2.am? BTW, at 65 it's likely he sleeps less than you do. . .try another approach. |
tpiah:right under you. . .lol

Beaf:beaf, which kain lie be this now? where did you hear this one? |

when the president is moving, there are armed policemen and traffic wardens at every junction he will/might pass, these policemen will be there throughout the day and will be notified a few minutes to the presidents approach(when i witnessed it, it was by a senior police officer), then they stop the traffic in all directions for a couple of minutes (usually not up to five) before and after the convoy passes. The policemen at the junctions do not follow the presidents convoy although a jeep stopped to pick up the senior police officer last time i saw the convoy (sept 17). i know the area where the incident is supposed to have happened, and the only it could have happened as they described is if the taxi driver moved when all the other cars had been stopped, and even then, it would have to have been at a junction cos the roads are seperated meaning the driver would have to have disobeyed the traffic wardens/policemen at the junction for him to have a chance to hit the presidents car. Now imagine one car moving out of all the cars at the scene, wouldn't that be enough cause for worry? by the way, the writer says it was due to carelessness on the part of the presidents detail abi? so how should they have stopped him? if they had shot him, we would be hearing another story. if this thread is still up and running tomorrow i'll upload the video i shot of GEJs convoy 2 weeks ago, there were more than 30cars in it, with 5 identical black S-classes, you cant really tell which one he's inside, which is why i'm not sure it was even the exact car GEJ was inside the guy hit. |
oyb:this is the president of nigeria we're talking about. . .you wont be moving when he's passing so there's no need to get out of the way. . .whether you are on the same side of the road as he is, or on a different side, as long as he is on the road, you will be stopped. imagine you are on western avenue. . .if he's going towards the island and you are going towards the mainland, they will still stop you. if the security ppl are that careful/paranoid what do you think would happen to someone who managed to hit a car in the presidents convoy? like i said, it's the police we're talking about here, the roads are manned by policemen and traffic wardens when the CinC is moving, so if he was beaten, he was beaten by the nigeria police, not the presidents security detail. |
Gamine:cant fault you there, of which on the forum where i read the story some guy was complaining about how chimamanda is too sexual. . .lol, you shoulda seen how people shot him down. |
he/she fit dey fear say the SSS go come pick am up for a brief chat after im release the guy. . .no be naija we dey? |
@gbawe have you ever seen the presidents convoy moving before? i doubt you have. . .if you've seen the convoying moving before, you'd be wondering how he managed to get near the convoy in the first place, having witnessed the presidential convoy moving a number of times, i'm surprised that the guy is still alive cos when the nigerian presidential convoy is moving(this isn't only in GEJs case) traffic is stopped regardless of lane and/or direction and it would have been the police that arrested him, cos the SSS doesn't stay on the roads. @beaf holler if you want a video of the presidents convoy so you can upload it on youtube to show these folks how much luck/co-ordination would be required to hit a car carrying the president in a convoy of more than 30 cars(4 of which will be identical to the one carrying the president). why didn't he hit the ambulance or any of the press cars or the utility cars sef? it's the police that is trying the man not the SSS, that's why things are being handled this way, from the article it's obvious they have lost interest in the case but the magistrate doesn't want to dismiss it due to fear ![]() |
if i recall correctly, when yar adua declared his assets, he declared 50 brand new cars which he said he received as gifts, me i'm just waiting to see how many jonathan will declare. |
cap28:kai. . .where did you get that one from?i am really and truly in awe of you. . . |
what about mothers looking after their grandkids? it's not much different now. . . @denzel i agree with siena and i dont have oyinbo tendencies. . .lol. Most of the objection is based on the stigma attached to being a 'driver' but isn't that what the man used to earn the money he spent to bring you up? @gestapo he'll do whatever he wants to do, i think all this hesitation stems from the disdain nigerian ppl have for drivers and all other classes of blue collar job. so being the OPs driver is good enough for another persons father(theoretically). If he's going to disrespect the dad, he(the dad) doesn't have to drive him before he disrespects him. I think it's entirely possible for him to respect his father even while his father is driving him, what will it cost? not being able to call the driver stupid(which anyone shouldn't be doing in the first place) or not being able to talk rudely? respect goes deeper than 'position'. If you can talk him out of it without hurting his feelings fine, however remember that he's your father and it's your duty to make him as happy as possible he's in the twilight of his life here on earth. |
KnowAll:haba. . .bros take it easy now, i'm sure the man holds but im no fit hold reach baba iyabo. @cap28 bros, i hail o. . .as you take enter into capitalists, imperialists and china from jonathans assets still dey trip me. . . Beaf:@beaf the only thing you've said on this thread that relates(albeit remotely) to the subject matter is that GEJ cant come and declare his assets on NL(which is not even what the thread is asking). . .it baffles me how you fail to understand how much damage you're doing to yourself and your cause. @oyb actually, i think GEJ will do well in the debates, buhari finds it difficult to answer the questions that were asked(from the NVS interview), babangida too(from the CNN interview) ribadu seems to have a knack for making silly promised(promising to end voilent crimes with 5000 policemen) who else? did i hear someone say atiku?. . .puh-lease! |
of which i can confirm the fuel @ 64 naira thing, i bought fuel at 64naira this week at a filling station(al bashar or something like that) also i was in niger state most of last year and apart from the NNPC station and a total(i think) mega station the price of fuel was 75naira at the lowest with 100 naira per litre being the highest i saw. Beaf:so someone wanting to know how much GEJ is worth is a foolish question? if you want to know how much saraki or gusau or atiku or babangida is worth feel free to open threads to ask your own 'stupid questions'. what is it to you if i or indeed anyone chooses the pages of NL to ask questions, isn't NL a discussion forum? who gave you the right to choose which questions people are allowed to ask about your beloved GEJ(whether or not you admit it, if it was any other aspirant the same question was asked of, you wouldn't have acted the way you did). oyb asked a question about gej(whom everybody knows you support) and instead of answering the question you brought up pictures of saraki does that make sense to you? if, per chance oyb was supporting saraki and had been attacking GEJ, your position would have been understandable(but definitely not sensible) but as it is, you're attempting to bring tribe into a question he has every right to ask. the fact remains that GEJ is in the spotlight more than any of the other aspirants and he is bound to undergo more public scrutiny. If you continue attacking people simply because they question the person you support, you're likely to erode whatever credibility he seems to be developing. politics should be about issues not people. |
@beaf et al cant you face the issues brought up? you're doing more harm than good to jonathan's cause by trying to obscure the issues by insulting people all and sundry instead of talking about Jonathan's worth you're talking about bukola saraki and his history, this thread isn't about BS(to my knowledge sef no one on this thread is pointing to him as a better alternative). If you cant face the issues being discussed wouldn't it be better for you to stay away? by coming her to discuss tribe instead of politics you're weakening whatever support base you might be trying to develop for jonathan. Of which your principal is becoming known for this sort of thing, instead of replying the issues soludo raised his defenders took to casting aspersions. that's how you lose elections in sane societies(dont know how far it will get him in naija though) Personally i'm interested in knowing what GEJ is worth, how he handles this just might help me decide who to support sef. |
Gamine:chimamanda has interesting/odd/unstable characters. . .your mind must be a veritable maze i think Birdsong was a contribution to a collection of short stories called 20 under 40 for the newyorker hopefully, her next offering'll be a proper book, 'the thing around our neck' was cool but still i prefer her books. |
change your password and security question, like the previous poster said. . . of which, politics isn't the place for this kind of topic |
denzel2009:well, it's a trade off, cut down on the getting lucky and keep his dad happy for a couple of months or ignore the old man and leave him to his devices, there isn't much a 62 year old retiree can get up to in abj(going by OPs location) |
oyb:what if the person disrespects him? i agree with OAM4J(to an extent) and purple diamond, he should let his dad drive him, but if he has any paroles he should give the man the day off, all na eye-service now, |
Gamine:that story is tight. . .sey it's only one? where did you see it? you see yourself in her books ehn?. . .that speaks volumes o. |
i agree with siena on this, if OP feels he can stand it, he should go for it!. . . |
@slap1 i agree you have a point, but is it that big a deal who get's the credit? |
Andre Uweh:what's an igbo topic? is it in english? |
