You have tried according to your story- you have been stretched to your wits end but still, in your shoes, I wouldn't still be able to stomach seeing that bleeding woman go especially if I there is something I could still do to help not minding whether they will keep to their financial obligations because conscience will almost kill me thinking about it....seeing the relatives crying will melt my already hardened resolve. I know that what even made you to write this is your conscience. It pricks but truly, as you said, you couldn't help. God saw your heart and understands. It is well! 2 Likes |

Career / From Cerebral Palsy Disability To Building A Multimillion Dollar Tech Company by NeuroBoss(m): 11:36am On Aug 22, 2015 |
The time was 3:05 PM in Accra. It was in a hall packed with young men and women who are making big strides in business, politics, civil organizations and public services. It was the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Accra Regional Learning Center. These are the young leaders who had been commissioned to rescue Africa from an imminent, irredeemable doldrums it is bound for. In the penultimate week, series of successful leaders in business had been invited from across Africa to come and tell their story, share and rekindle fire among these young people and then came this very beautiful young lady who after being briefly introduced, people were seen casting long glances and waiting excitedly to hear her story. The hall was silent. Be Inspired...Farida did it, you too can! Be Inspired...Farida did it, you too can! BIRTH, EARLY LIFE AND DIAGNOSIS WITH PALSY Farida Bedwei, a multi-million dollar tech guru and software engineer was born in Lagos , Nigeria in 1979 to Ghanaian parents. According to her, she was diagnosed ten days after her birth with cerebral palsy- an incurable neurological disorder that affects body movement and muscle coordination but does not affect cognitive abilities like attention, memory, judgement, evaluation, reasoning, computation, comprehension etc. EDUCATION AND CHALLENGES As a result of the commitment of her father with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), at the time, she had to move between Nigeria, Dominica, Grenada and the United Kingdom before returning home to Ghana in 1989 when she was ten years old. Her disability could not allow her start school like every other children at a very young age. She was home-schooled by her mother until the age of 12 when she started at the 2nd grade and got to make her first out-of-home interaction with other school children. During the 11 years Farida spent at home being home-taught by her parents, they discovered that their little girl had a burning passion for computers and made a strategic and life-changing decision to enroll her into a one-year computer course and also make her skip high school. She recounted how she felt lonely in the class and how she struggled to be accepted by his mates given her young age and her disability. She said they thought she was wasting her time. She however used the time and solitude to affirm her resolve to carve a niche for herself in the field of software engineering by learning all the skills that made her the success she is today. THE BOLD STEPS, THE BIG BREAK AND TERTIARY EDUCATION After the conclusion of her training at the technology school, Farida thought that though, she now had all the textbook knowledge of programming, the best way to be really good is through a hands-on , on-the-job experience in a software engineering company. In her words: "I went to see the head of the technical division and I told him, I want a job here, I don't have any experience, but I am inspired to learn...if you give me the chance, I promise that you will never regret it". So he said, ''OK, fine...come and join'' And that was it! When asked about what gave her the courage to go to the company despite her obvious physical disability and inexperience, she quipped: ''I was prepared to be rejected. He wouldn't have said more than a 'no'. If you fear rejection, you may never succeed''. When asked again if she had ever been discriminated against. She also added, ''I have never experienced any discrimination. If you are able to prove yourself, there is no need for anyone to discriminate against you''. She went ahead to spend the next 3 years of her life working for Soft, Ghana's first software company and that was in 1998. In 2001, Farida moved on to Rancard solutions where she was employed as a Senior Software Architect and worked there for nine years where she was able to study part-time to get a diploma in Information Systems and a Diploma in e-technology but still needed to get a degree as African societies place more values on certificates. She later headed to the University of Hertfordshire in England for a degree in computer science. BUSINESS INITIATIVES, AWARDS AND RECOGNITION In 2012, she felt the need to be on her own and together with a former colleague at Rancard launched there own company, Logiciel (logiciel is the french word for software), a software company. She is considered as one of the most powerful women in financial technology on the continent. South Africa's CEO magazine in 2013 named Farida as the most influential woman in business and government in Africa for the financial sector. She developed a cloud software platform that is being used by 130 micro-finance companies nationwide. These institutions give loans to their customers by sending a code to their mobile phones via SMS. This code can be converted to money at any branch, availing loans to small businesses without hassles. Farida Bedwei is definitely one of the great examples of people who had come out of extreme physical disorders to make successes out of their lives. She organizes ICT boot camps for young people and has been able to serve as a beacon of hope to thousands of them. She wrote a book in 2013 titled: "The Definition of a Miracle'' where she wrote her life story to encourage physically challenged persons that, in her words, ''that you are physically disabled does not mean that you are mentally disabled''. She also counsel ed parents while alluding to the tremendous support she got from her parent and family on the need to accept and take care of their physically challenged children instead of throwing them into the sea or bush paths to be eaten by animals. All the people seated were greatly moved by her story and were greatly motivated. Many of them came out to tell her how much they have been inspired by her story and how it has challenged them to move beyond their disabilities and make abilities out of them. 1 Like |
Politics / The Unpresidential Trump? 12 Caustic Donald Trump Quotes And How They Affect Him by NeuroBoss(m): 11:04am On Aug 22, 2015 |
Donald J. Trump needs no introduction. He is the New York Billionaire Real Estate Developer who has somehow stayed in media spotlight more for his controversies than for the houses he built or the deals he sealed in his businesses. Trump in his famous bestselling book, "The Art of the Deal'' agreed that he sometimes deliberately court controversies as according to him, "bad publicity is better than no publicity. Many Americans love his brashness as they think it is good for the business he does, some are indifferent and some others hate him outright. However, since Trump's declaration of interest to run for presidency in 2016, many tongues have been set wagging casting aspersions on his suitability for the world's number one most prestigious job, the United States' Presidency. Antagonists of Trump admitted to the fact that ''The Donald'' as he is fondly called has the credentials having risen to the pinnacle of the business world, being intelligent and well-educated but they believed he is too uncouth and too unpresidential to be entrusted with the honorable office of the President of the United states and truly Trump is brash and he wouldn't back than in his campaigns. One of them, Rick Perry said Trump's campaign is "a cancer on conservation'', ''barking carnival act''. He defined "TRUMPISM" as a ''toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense that will lead the Republican Party to perdition if pushed'' Infofortress takes you through 12 of Donald Trump's past and present offensive, uncouth, weird and sometimes, truthful, humorous and revealing quotes. We have come to realize that the candidate who eventually gets his/her party nomination and go ahead to win the elections would have done so based on people's perception of them, their programs and how they utter or present them as they go about convincing people because all the candidates from across board like Dr. Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb etc are all great. Here are 12 caustic, offensive and uncouth Donald Trump Quotes drawn from 4 major deciders that may make or mar his ambition: AFFRONTS ON AMERICA'S MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE AND POWER BLOCKS. Trump is indeed at daggers drawn and in clash of interest with some of America's most influential people, families and media houses who could play significant roles in the elections. Trump doubted Obama's citizenship of the United States saying: ''I have people that have been studying Obama's birth certificate and they cannot believe what they are finding....I would like to have him show his birth certificate and can I be honest with you, I hope he can because if he can't, he wasn't born in this country, which is a real possibility....then he has pulled one of the great cons in the history of politics''. Donald Trump is also not friend with a powerful section of the media. For example, Arianna Huffington, the powerful businesswoman and owner of the Huffington post don't see eye-to-eye with him. He took a jibe on Huffington when he said: "Arianna Huffington is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man (became gay)-he made a good decision". He also dismissed the Huffington post as being just a ''glorified blog''. Trump has also recently said some unpalatable things about America's most powerful family, the Bushes who on record used to be friends. However, their feud is understandable because Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and member of the Bush Dynasty is also running for president. During a campaign recently Trump said: ''I have never been a fan of the Bushes or any of their policies". Enough is enough for the Bushes. OPEN DISDAIN FOR GAY MARRIAGES AND RIGHTS The United States under the Obama administration has recently passed a law legalizing gay marriages and recognition and upholding the rights of gay persons and people with different sexual preferences despite opposition from individuals and religious organization. Trump too did not mince words on his hatred of homosexuality. In a March 2011 interview with Bill O'Reilly: ''I just don't feel good about it. I don't feel right about it. And I take a lot of heat because I come from New York''. And after the Supreme Court ruling that legalized gay marriages, Trump took to his twitter to register his displeasure: "Once again, the Bush appointed Supreme Court Justice John Roberts has let us down. Jeb pushed him hard! Remember!" Trump again reiterated his hatred for gay marriage during one of his campaign programs: “It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist". COMMENTS ON IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS- THE MEXICANS AND OTHER HISPANICS, AFRICANS. Presidential candidates have always been promising to cut a better deal for the teeming population of immigrants (legal and illegal) and this was one of the strategies Obama used to gain their support. Now there is outrage and palpable fear among the the mexicans and other immigrant groups of what a Trump presidency portends for them and may not be voting him. Here was what he said: “When Mexico (meaning the Mexican Government) sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you (pointing to the audience). They’re not sending you (pointing again). They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems to us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people! But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people. It’s coming from more than Mexico. It’s coming from all over South and Latin America, and it’s coming probably from the Middle East. But we don’t know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don’t know what’s happening. And it’s got to stop and it’s got to stop fast.” On the blacks (African-Americans) These quotes about blacks may not earn him the votes of black people who constitute 13% of the population of the United States too: “Sadly, because president Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president for generations!” “Laziness is a trait in blacks.” “And if you look at black and African American youth, to a point where they’ve never done more poorly. There’s no spirit.” And finally he posited: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” Hum, the quintessential Trump. Hope you get your ways through these.

Culture / 7 Misconceptions And Facts On American History by NeuroBoss(m): 12:55am On Aug 03, 2015 |
We love the Americans, don’t we? The reason is not far-fetched. Their country is the number one destination for our citizens (Nigerians) and most people from the Third World who seek greener pastures abroad. Because of this, many things about them fascinate us; their politics, their technology, their movies, their music, their lifestyle and of course, their history! We have read so much about America more than the Americans themselves. Our reading from many ill-informed sources gave rise to many misconceptions on their history. Below are the 7 grave misconceptions and solid facts this article seeks to correct and affirm: THAT CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DISCOVERED AMERICA This is what most history textbooks and current affairs books tell us and would have us believe but it’s far from the truth. FACT: People called Eskimos travelled to America many years before Columbus was born. These Eskimos came from faraway places-from cold and icy countries called Greenland and Siberia. He stumbled on an already inhabited America. THAT COLUMBUS WAS A SPANIARD While it was true that the Spanish gave Columbus all the resources he needed to set sail, Columbus was actually born in1451 in the city of Genoa, Italy. FACT: Christopher Columbus was Italian THAT COLUMBUS LANDED IN THE US FACT: Christopher Columbus never landed in the US! He landed on one of the Bahamian Islands. After Columbus landed, he erroneously referred to the natives as ‘’Indians”. Why? He was sent to Asia , he lost his way and thought this new place was India. THAT ENGLAND COLONISED ALL THE UNITED STATES As evident in the names of the colonies which now form the American states, the former colonies were shared between the French, Spanish, Dutch and British colonists. Spain was actually the first country to settle the United States. Places like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Texas and even Florida discovered by Spanish navigator, Ponce De Leon in 1513 give credence to America’s Spanish heritage. Vermont, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri etc all affirm America’s French heritage. New York was settled by the Dutch and they call it ‘’Nieuw York. FACT: England being the Super Power at the time defeated the French and Spanish and usurped all the colonies for herself. Usurpers, huh? THAT THE AMERICANS DEFEATED THE BRITISH ALL ALONE The colonists were being slaughtered en masse because they were not trained fighters and did not have the military training or supplies that the British troops had. They were cold and starving. FACT: It was not until spring of 1778 when France decided to help the Americans. The French Army captured the British General Cornwallis and his troops. With the help of the French, archrivals of the Brits, the Americans won the American Revolution and Independence was won at last. THAT ALL THE 50 STATES FORMED THE UNION FROM THE ONSET FACT: No! After the war was won, the former colonies didn’t continue as one. Rather, they reverted to being independent since they only came together to fight the war against their common enemy. Only 13 states first formed the United States. They are; Virginia (name after the British virgin Queen, Elizabeth), South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut. That is why today, American states are ranked according to the year of their joining the Union. The years are written on the flags of each state. THAT ABRAHAM LINCOLN IS THE FATHER OF AMERICA Abraham Lincoln no doubt , holds a no mean place in the history of America as her most famous leader. As the 16th president of the United States, he stopped the slave business, kept the country united after a protracted civil war and helped modernise the economy. FACT: Nah, George Washington who led the American Revolution and became the nation’s first president is referred to as the ‘’Father of Our Country’’. Washington even helped in drafting the first ever constitution of the United States. |

Celebrities / Oyinbo Wannabe Jidenna Busted: Buried His Father With Charity Donations by NeuroBoss(m): 11:20am On Jul 12, 2015 |
As recounted by Laila Ijeoma on her blog www.lailasblog.com. Please read what I just found on the internet, guys. Nigerian-American singer Jidenna had told the world during his VLad interview that to protect himself during his dad's burial in 2010, he had to bring a lot of AK47s and employed military commandos because in Nigeria, light skinned people are targeted by kidnappers. Well, guess what. Jidenna forgot to add that he also crowdfunded for funds to even enable him come back home. I just got led to this article from 2010 on Fear & Fancy, a social club that began in California 2006 and has Jidenna as one of her founding members, where Jide's team wrote a passionate appeal asking for funds. Read the letter after the cut. Dear friends, On February 18, 2010, Chief Oliver Udemmadu Ogbonnia Mobisson, Jidenna’s father, made the transition from life to death. While he had been battling several health issues, his death still came as quite a shock to us all. Jidenna has since returned home to Boston to be with his family. The death of a father and husband is something no one can ever prepare for, and the death of a chief in the Igbo culture, of which the Mobissons are a part, entails many specific responsibilities, trips, and ceremonies. In the coming weeks, Jidenna and his family will be taking on all of these responsibilities, trips and ceremonies, with little time and funding. They have valiantly assumed these duties in the face of their grief, but are still in great need of help from each and every one of us in order to do all that must be done. It is imperative that we rise to the occasion, as they have, and offer more than our condolences. There are very specific needs that must be addressed, all of which with we can help. How You Can Help The family must travel to Nigeria to bury Professor Mobisson in his village of chieftaincy. Jidenna needs to personally raise $3,000 in order to cover his airfare and accommodations for this trip. Any funds that you can allocate to this end would be most helpful and most appreciated at this time. In order to meet their needs, the family is requesting such resources by April 1st. For more information, please visit www.OliverMobisson.org. Other Ways to Help If you cannot afford to give monetarily at this time, there are many other ways you can help. Another pressing need of both Jidenna and Fear & Fancy is production. Jidenna is one of our main producers for the EP/LP project that we have been working on for the past 4-5 months. Of course, given his current situation, he will not be able to produce for an extended period of time. Therefore, we are looking for anyone who produces to send us production so that we (Jidenna included) can continue our careers. Jidenna has stressed to us his need to continue to write and hear new music not only for the project, but also for his emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Music has always helped Jidenna to express, cope with, and find creativity in the challenges he faces in life, and now is certainly no exception. Please send any production to info@fearandfancy.com along with your name and contact information so that we can thank you personally. If you have received this email, and have read this far, it is because you have some connection to Jidenna and the Mobisson family and have no doubt been blessed, as we have, by their love, friendship, and support. Their loss has given us all a wonderful opportunity to give back and show our appreciation to them. Thank you for your time, prayers, and gifts in advance. Sincerely, Fear & Fancy |
