Newacca,

I know the oyinbos support this view, also note that Canada is very selective when it comes to inflow. In a situation where applications are too much to treat, funny screening factor comes in and I think it could be impossible to get a chance to prove your intention because you may not even be invited for interview to get denied. They have a target too and the most time saving effort for a faulted application is denial.

Besides, at late 20's the lowest expectation for a progressive person is to have been out of secondary school for like 5 years. You better have a strong explanation for the education gap.

LasBonBoi.
lasbonboi,
u've said it all. Explaining the educational gap will go a long way. I left academic environment in since 2003 and my result came out in 2004. I worked for my Pop as IT student for a year and as marketing manager for 1.5yr before I started my Biz. and I applied 4 study visa in April,2011 for ACCA and I got called for interview and also got medical call.
I'm in my late 20s

Thanks man, my dad has steady income, he retired from nnpc, has a small biz,has a guest house and he's also a politician, I think I will tell him to do it that way, so u think he should write a letter to that effect, stating dat he kept d mony in d acc for my sch expenses?, how do u think the letter should look like, @all suggestions also needed, thanks

@gogedda,

Ur Dad's financial status shld be good. Tell him to do it that way. He should write the letter as you have stated,but it should be a separate letter aside the affidavit of sponsorship. If he has letter head paper for the small biz,he should write it on the letterhead stating categorically his reasons for sponsoring you,assuring them of ur return after studies and making it clear that he purposely deposited d fund in d special account cos of u. To make it convincing,the acct may be in ur name. A kinda Dom.acct I suggest.

@all, @newacca
Good day, pls do u think if my dad as my sponsor lodges money which is equivalent of tuition and living expenses into an account either current or dorm acc, do u think d embassy would accept it, if dats true, do u think my dad still need to present his statement of bank acc as an evidence of his sponsorship, this is because am expecting some money and I won't want d embassy to say the money was lodged into d acc in a day because am gonna apply this april, I need your various suggestions, I don't know if anybody ever done it before.
Thanks,
@gogedda,
To my little experience,your Dad may still needs to present his personal account so that the VO could be convinced that your Dad has a reliable source of income. As a matter of fact it does not really need to be a huge amount since u already have sufficient fund deposited in d dom acct. Just make sure it covers all ur expenses for d 1st yr and let d VO knws d fund is deposited in d acct mainly cos of ur study in Canada. Is ur Dad's acct operated regularly? Lump sum may be kept in the other acct.,just make it clear to the VO that the fund is mainly deposited in the acct for d purpose of ur study. Which means,d acct will serve as evidence that fund is readily available for ur study,while ur Dad's account will be an evidence that your sponsor(Dad) has a reliable source of income to support you and even himself while u are away in Canada. Note: This is according to my little experience. But if I am in ur shoes,I'll handle it this way.

sorry I dont knw abt the grading system in Canada and its Universities. I applied to a college for a professional certification (ACCA). Other members of the house that 've applied to Unis in Canada are in d best position to give u an accurate answer.

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by newacca: 11:08am On Feb 16, 2012
@moty4all,
as I said earlier,u can write a statement of purpose to backur application why u are going for Diploma in Info.tech after a degree in computer science. Though I think you have a chance cos u may decide to specialize in area of ur study at advancement level. Info.tech is related with Computer science and part of computer science. U may decided to specialize in Info. tech after u've gotten adequate knowledge in Computer science. Starting info.tech with diploma prog. is not bad and it may serve as bridging gap btw ur comp.science and other advanced prog. of computer u may want to study after completion of degree in comp.science. U r in d better position to explain ur field cos I'm into Management/finance career.
As per d acct stuff,u can have it ur sponsor's acct or ur personal acct.what matters mostly is to prove that the speculated fund is available for u at any time.

@Palliative,
sad 2 hear about the denial. Life goes on though. is it true that you did not submit original copy/notarized copy of any of d main dox. u used in applying? If it's true,then the house needs to blame u a bit ooo. cos ppl dey always ask questn relating to this and dem dey get correct response. even for dem embassy req. it was categorically stated. as per sponsor,u can take ur parent join as co-sponsor/main sponsor nah, Well,if @ 1st u dnt succeed,try and try and try again bro.

@moty4all,

I think it is possible,as long as u can prove ur reasons of doing so. U may support ur application with statement of purpose. why u wanna go for 2yrs diploma cert. prog. it depends on ur previous academic field and d present 1 u wanna pursue;and how u present ur case to the visa officer.
good luck.

Yes and No.
It depends on merit and what your intentions are

If you are a young guy or gal, you stand a good chance.
If you are being sponsored by the government, you stand a great chance.
If you are an older person, or a guy in his late 20s and you claim to be going for your undergraduate degree - there is a good chance you will be denied.
If you do not indicate or show that in the previous couple of years you had either been working or schooling, good chance you will be denied.
If you are an older guy or gal and you are going for masters, phd etc you stand a good chance.
If you are an older guy or gal, and you are married, and not travelling with your partner, you stand a good chance as you still have ties to Nigeria.

So a 30 yr old dude going for his first undergraduate degree will be denied 9 times out of 10 unless he has some remarkable story to tell. They know you are probably going to get lost when you get there.
If you are in your late 20s and you can prove urself that knowledge and education has no age restrictions( Even the oyinbos know and support this fact),you stand a good chance. I bet it. cos it works!

Do i have to submit the original school certificate or the authenticated copy from the min. of education when submitting my application.
as for me,I submitted original cert. from schl. but nothing do u if u submit certified copy from Min. of Education(I think so) u may notarize d original cert and submit it if u dont wanna submit original,it is acceptable that way.

@tolyem,
it is not bad if you can use the 2 sponsors and even support it with ur own sponsorship details,just to create the impression that fund is available for ur studies. But make sure u make it clear of ur main sponsor and subordinate sponsors i.e 2nd sponsor and urself.
I wish u d best.

@dem76,

is ur brother residing in France? If yes,he should be able to get translator to tell him the meaning. Betterstill,u can get translator here in Nigeria to tell you what it means. U can also use google translation tool if u dont wanna to translators.

@acca12,
Though I haven't been to Canada and I don't really connect with my relatives in Canada,but I believe I can contribute as little as possible from my experience. Hopefully,if ur wife's brother's status is good without bad record,it will be a plus for u if u package ur application well. So,watch this tip:

1) Even if ur wife's bro is there,u still need to proof that u've gotten enough fund to get accommodation and food. Remember visa officers are human like us. Ur wife's bro may act funny one day and things may not get along with both of u when u get there(God forbid). So,I think VO will expect u to expect the unexpected even if ur wife's bro promises accommodation.

2) Make sure ur financial dox creates impression that you are making huge income that will cover ur financial needs while studying in Canada and also cover expenses of ur wife n children while u r away in Canada,even when they aren't going to Canada with you. Yea,dox  of properties is also good. Having wife and children will also go a long way to proof u have ties to ur country. But Pls. don't shoot urself in d leg with the family ties,by not showing u will conveniently provide for their expenses while u are away! It's important.

@2unde4sure,

I am a self sponsor,so I do not know all the dox ur sponsor may need to supply you with,but you can have that on CDHC webpage and on page1 of this thread (travelling to Canada1) you wil get list of dox. needed from ur sponsor.

u can include a kind of SOP(statement of purpose) or letter of intent with ur application. stating why u wanna study ACCA in Canada and the benefit of d prog. for u when u get back to Nigeria. U financial stand and ur family/country ties all in d SOP. It will go a long way. I included it in my application.

TravelRe: How Easy Is Getting Admission Into Netherlands Univeristies And Visa by newacca: 7:20pm On Jan 28, 2012
@p.desmond,
NO. I don't believe Canada study visa is difficult. If u have the required dox and u package ur application well,u are good to go.It is just that Canadian embassy in Nigeria takes a lot of time to process study visa. It sometimes take 4 to 5 months to receive any response from the embassy after ur visa application.

@biodun2434,

It depends on ur immigration status in South Africa. are u a permanent residence there? I think u shld be able to apply with Nigerian passport in SA if you are permanent resident in SA. Plus,u can ask this question on travelling to canada thread2
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by newacca: 6:28pm On Jan 28, 2012
@2sexy,
that's where u have to do this findings. u can still get colleges and unis that have lower tuiton fee. Most of the schools require u to pay when u get to Canada and I think most of them allows u to pay on installment. u may check on this website for more alternatives www.canadian-universities.net
some offer scholarship for international students with good grades and some requires to have SAT or some standardized test to be able to give you scholarship.

@Paschal137,
u r welcome to d house. Though I've never been to Canada,but learning from ppl and information gathered,virtually all Canadian colleges and Unis are good. That's why most ppl prefer Canada and some other western countries. TRU is also one of the good ones in CA. I think some members of this forum are there.

@Danyl,
It varies depending of when u want to do it. I did mine in July last yr. @ Marien hospital and I paid 27k. but I think it has been increased now,owing to increment in DHL service. If u've been called for medical test,call d hospitals to confirm d current fee.

@imperiouxx,
Yea. I can relate well with mxxpunkxx. I also pray the trio meet in N.America one day. cool

@2sexy,
Sure,u can stay in Canada after PGD if you are employed or by some other legal means like marriage. and of course u can progess to your Masters prog.which I prefer most. It will definitely pro-long ur stay in CA. I got ur digits saved. Gotta call u soon. Maybe u can also give ur facebook id.

@Allexy2,

@bashtee,
nice development. God that started with will make it a complete success ( Maa-sha Allah) did u do d medicals at Marien hospital Yaba or the other hospitals in V.I and Abuja? I also added u on Yahoo but no response yet. I wish u well Brova.

@p.desmond,
I am yet to decide,as I have reached a very important stage with my canada study visa. dat's Y I asked if the Netherlands embassy request medical test. Though I have been tld they dont request dat. Canada request medical b4 visa is issued and I need to treat myself for 1.5year b4 visa is issued. There is actually a Uni in Netherlands where I can get my degree in 1.5year or 2yrs(depending on my work experience). That's where I reach crossed road. Canada's living expenses is cheaper compare to NL. and fee is also cheaper. I cld have go for d schl in NL. Now,I am contemplating.
