Yaaayyy!!! newmum0615, I knew u will not fall my hand. Thank you sooo very much for your landing gist, I appreciate it more now that I cannot seem to put my PPR gist together in english, my eyes and hands have also assumed turnioniown mode. God bless you and your family and cause more favors to pursue and overtake you. Enjoy the freedom that comes with giving out all ur pregnancy details without worries, dat is the real FREEDOM, . I am certain I will meet you sometime, you sound like a really exciting soul. Have fun and lets hear the rest of the gist as they occur when you can. Ciao Newmum0615: Part 2:
Our life in Canada thus began. In the first one week, we did quite a lot. Opened bank accounts, got phone lines, spoke with employment advisors, visited my registered midwife and other things here and there. We even attended service at the church my midwife invited us to. The pastor and everyone we met were so accommodating. They prayed for us and welcomed us to Canada. The second week saw us begin our house search. This part of my landing gist will require its own section because it is really a story for another day |

So I canask to have that taken out if I want to pick up myself? MacShiff: Yes it's inclusive of courier charge back to VFS Office.
You will be charged extra if you want it delivered to your house which is optional. |

Right. Thanks Please indulge me though. Does the 17,790 include charges like courier etc which are optional? MacShiff: Congrats Newbeecey.
I paid 17,790 for each family member plus 550 for sms.
Total of 53,920 for family of three.
If you can get there before 8am. In less than 45 minutes you are done. |

Cough Cough!!!!! I guess its easy to sit and critic other people’s PPR post until you realize that almost 8 hours after seeing your own, you still do not have the words. No emotions, except the fear of ralphrulz scoring of your post when you finally get to it.
Please lemme go an prepare, English language might be my weakpoint afterall. In the meantime, my most recent PPR clinchers (MacShiff, ebony9ja, beeday, boom12) apart from the docs we need to present at VAC, Lagos, can you please advise on what the current fees are and what the process is, including how long on the average the submission will take (I no fit take day off naa, I never resign).
@wholesomegrace, sis we made it o. Newmum, I can finally work around meeting you in real life (I cant wait), Ifeoma77 (I know that looking forward to ur posts will keep me on this thread for a while).
I will be back with the script |

Enjoy yourself, land safe, settle easy.
Newmum0615 , hello from this side. Please o!!!! This one is not pride. In advance, I am asking that you make it very relatable in words and pictures. Merci tres beaucoup |

Proof of funds was just a Treasury Bill which I did for 45 days a day before submitting the application. I didn't submit any 6 months statement, just the certificate.
Although, I submitted the statement of account of my salary account since inception under proof of employment.
Ordered GCMS notes twice, the second one is yet to arrive.
As at 2 weeks back, only criminality had been met, eligibility and security not started, called CIC to get the info.
All in all, God be praised!!! |

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. I wish you more grace and favour from here onwards aworldcitizen: Landing Gist. Family of 5. Happy new year all. I didn’t want my landing gist to have part 1 & 2; hence I waited for it to be almost complete.
Our PPR took over 10months and we had less than 5 weeks to travel from when COPR was issued. Everything was a mad rush! Bought winter jackets and sweaters from Yaba market.
God bless us all and may we all have a great year. |

Woowwww!!!! OMG, I am soo sorry about that. This is quite some information to be "very aware" of now. mmhhnn slimlanre: I have been a silent observer on this thread for a while. I must commend the selfless efforts seen here.
@Salford, the bolded has been my prayer since the 1st time i had to go to the emergency two years ago when my wife was pregnant. After being triaged, we waited for close to 5 hours to see a doctor. I couldn't believe i was in the "emergency unit". We eventually lost the baby. It opened my eyes to the Healthcare system in Canada, precisely Calgary. It is a major challenge, the wait times, but since it is "free", most Canadians just live with it. |

Right. Thanks salford1: It has 2 meanings at most gov work place 1) Banked Hours (also known as Time Off in Lieu) refers to hours worked over contracted hours but instead of receiving an overtime payment for these hours they are held (banked) to be taken as leave at a time in the future that is agreed between managers and individual staff. Usually, working four hours OT earns you a day off if you decide to bank it.
2) Irrespective of OT, you get every third fridays or mondays off to use for other commitments. |
Travel › Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Newbeecey: 2:03pm On Dec 14, 2018 |
salford1: 1) Yes. (Not all jobs though. E.g Military and other jobs in private industry or government establishments that requires top secret clearance).
2) I work for the government. Pros: -Often unionized -Pay is often better than private firms -Job security -Relaxed working conditions -Banked days off -Excellent pension plan -Excellent benefit for employee and family -Flexible work hours Cons: -Just like Nigeria, getting a government job here is tough. People rarely resign from gov jobs. -Lots of team members that slack off at work -You won't be a dynamic worker (You get to work most times in one specilization except you apply to work in other dept). -Bureaucracy (Lots of it) -Bonus payments are low or non existent.
3) Hopefully, someone can answer this. Hi, what does the bolded mean? |

Could you please share pictures of some examples in these layering categories [quote author=einsteino post=72673280]Something just crept up my mind now. As much as Yaba has good jackets that compare to the $140 jackets I have found here, the main challenge is that most folks who are still in Nigeria may not be able to tell a good jacket for Canadian winter. So while we are busy waiting for the miracle PPR mail, I just realized that this CSE table that you people have been shaking, we are on it.
DH had a US refusal and was asked to reapply within 3-6 months, cant remember the exact reason though. He reapplied and has since gotten the visa; but i did not include it in our application.
I am about to do that now, only to realize, your dear sistuurrr doesnt even know what CSE means, let alone how to raise it. So this is an SOS!!! cry for help. |
