lukasmuyiwa:I never heard anyone ascribe the title to himself, maybe it hasn't gotten here. Please describe their methodology to us and examples of their scholars. |
Empiree:Marriage is not easy anywhere, though being in a strange land like the west makes it even less difficult, the difficulty becomes compounded when you are even a striving Muslim. |
AlBaqir:Because some people boast with the size and price of their ram is a reason for rich and sincere believers to avoid buying the best ram their money can get to seek closeness in this festival?! You see the falsehood in your point?! The most irrational thing a person can do is to put his reasoning above the texts of the Quran and sunnah. This is what destroyed Iblees. Of course reasoning is allowed in our religion but it shouldn't be given preference over texts. |
lexiconkabir:Same with me, I was a video game and football addict until I got admission to OAU and AlhamduliLlah, now I spend my money on books of noble scholars instead of complete sports, and I spend my time reading and memorising the Quran and sunnah instead of video games. And I realise that our existence is for a purpose which is the worship of Allah not to eat, drink, sleep, reproduce and die like goats and chickens . |
SIX THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT MSSN OAU 1. Mssnoau Ife is a body of peace-loving Muslim students. WHY? (1) I used to think Osama bin Laden and Al Qaida et al were fighting for Islam until I met a Salafiy brother from OAU. (2) Despite its conflict with OAU Muslim Community, MSSN OAU has never locked any of the school gates by way of protesting. The peaceful brethren believe in dialogue which is the Prophet's methodology. 2. MSSN OAU adheres strictly to the Qur'an and Sunnah and therefore doesn't entertain any religious padding. This is why many modernist Muslims have problems with them. 3. MSSN OAU attaches great importance to Islamic knowledge. This is why you will find many huffaadh in OAU. There is someone among them I consider really challenging. He came to OAU as tabula rasa but at 21, he memorized the whole Qur'an with Sahih Bukhari and Muslim. This is just one; I know many others. 4. MSSN OAU encourages members to excel academically through numerous tutorials for both Muslims and non-Muslims. That sister, best graduating student, that got twelve prizes in OAU College Medicine last year is a member. This is just one. I know many others. 5. MSSN OAU proudly promotes any of the traditional Islamic practices without fear of name-calling. In fact, I have heard people say OAU brethren don't know more than 'triple N' (nikah, niqob and nisfus sak). Does marriage affect education? Are niqob and n-sak not part of Islam? 6. MSSN OAU does highly effective dawah. Within a semester in OAU, many scarveless sisters turn to khimar and have a complete change of lifestyle. I know a primary school mate who used to host parties before gaining admission to OAU. Surprisingly, Shamadex came back home after his first session in OAU without his Afro Hair-style. I felt like crying when I saw him holding a copy of the Qur'an. I was really happy. This is just one out of many. The above and many more things are the reasons I love MSSN OAU, the custodian of the largest student mosque in Southwestern Nigeria. I pray Allah bless them more and grant them the required patience and wisdom to weather the storm. Oladele Saheed Ex-Corps Member, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria |
AlBaqir:Nobody is a fan of garbage shia books here. Well maybe your Sufi friend! Let's Read (again!) : A number of our companions, from Sahl b. Ziyad, from Muhammad b. Isa, from Yunus b. Ya'qub, from Abdullah b. Ya'qub, from Abdullah b. Hilal, who said: "Abu Abdullah (as) ordered me to buy an "izar" (lower garment) for him." So I said to him: "I could not get but a large one." So Imam (as) said: "Cut from it and stitch it." Imam (as) further continued: "Indeed my father had said: Whatever extends beyond the ankles is in the fire." I can't believe any reasonable student of knowledge will ever consider this kind of chain for research. The weakness is super obvious. Interestingly and unsurprisingly, Mr Majlisi the shia reverend of Hadith calls it RELIABLE. Haba! |
mrLhanray: |
The stand of shia is that all those companions rodiyaLLaahu anhum are disbelievers, and the narration of a disbeliever is out rightly unacceptable. moreover, fabricating lies against the messenger is an act of disbelief . The fact that you call the companions fabricators implies calling them disbelievers, so you shouldn't even consider their reports. Then, once a person is known to be a liar in his mundane activities such as trading, his reports are out rightly unacceptable in every way even if it's just a simply lie like deceiving a baby eg I'll buy sweet for you without really intending to buy it!!! How much more of a confirmed fabricator according to you and your shia sheikhs?! The inconsistencies in shia religion are obvious, I don't need to ponder before pointing them out! |
Empiree:You have right to believe whatever you choose to. Personally, i don't see any softness in my speech, it's justice, you only chose to call it what you like. What I have said about men is also what I say about a woman who doesn't wear the proper jilbab, it's a sin and makes on have right to punishment but Allah could forgive the person or choose to punish her but no believer will be in hell forever. This same principle goes for every major sin such as lying, stealing, killing etc. This aspect is where the khawarij and murji'ah sects went astray, the former being excessive and the later being lax. The only sin that puts one in hell forever and makes the mercy of Allah Haram for a person is Kufr and shirk. You are too far from pristine Islamic creed. I understand what albaqir was trying to point out as regard to nifsu sak. But if you watch Nigerian brothers, they wont blink a second before awarding everyone certificate of hell. They want no excuse for "below the ankle". Is it that after albaqir posted pix of Saudi scholars and royals you came out soft?. Na wa ooo.The way you generalise is just too ugly. The fact that they are Saudi royals or scholars doesn't make them immune from the punishment of Allah. It also doesn't make what they are doing permissible. But what I was saying is that dragging trousers doesn't make a person a disbeliever, therefore even if they are punished for it they will never be in hell forever because no believer will be in hell forever. I'm not on any of the two extremes ofdeviations: laxity and excessiveness. Unlike you. Anyway, i remember in my days back then, i was talking to nigerian brother on fb and he said he wouldn't give his daughter in marriage to any muslim whose pant is below the ankle. I jejeli ignored him and smh for him. Just wondering why these ppl adopted this madness when in fact arabic people dont give a fig leaf about (nifsu sak).If a person makes religious uprightness a condition for marriage, it's a praise worthy act. Just as I will never even consider an improperly dressed woman for marriage, I don't expect any sister that understands her religion to get married to a man who doesn't have the proper Islamic outlook. Allah didn't send Arabs to us as prophet, there are many Arabs who smoke, steal, lie etc, in fact there are Christian Arabs in Lebanon, so that's not a point at all. |
'EXTREMISTS MOSQUES' in OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY?! The True Story... We were elated with the announcement of Dr. (Mrs.) Akinola as the new acting DSA at the inception of the Prof. Elujoba-led administration. She comes across as a caring and wonderful mother figure, especially for female students, and her husband, the radical Prof. Akinola, is a great mind. We would like to situate her reaction in the context of a caring African mother who was misinformed by some people, for whatever reason, that her daughter is a closet call girl. What do you think a typical African mother would do? Nonetheless, and after the attendant hullaballoo, it becomes important to explain the reality of things so she and others do not fall into the vacuous ruse of these spin doctors and agents of misinformation. Ma, the hall mosques are not brothels and your students, the reason why you occupy that exalted office today, are not prostitutes. The hall mosques, Awolowo and Fajuyi, each comprises of two big halls separated by a wall. This is not uncommon, rather it is almost the default in mosque architecture. You may visit any mosque in your vicinity to confirm this; it’s either the females are on a separate floor, as seen in the new OAU Central Mosque, or the floor is demarcated by a barrier, as seen in the hall mosques and the old OAU Central Mosque. The hall mosques have three doors that open to the exterior with another door joining both sides of the mosque. Two of these entrances lead to the male side of the mosque while the third is the female entrance to the female section. The DSA entered the mosque through the male entrance, then proceeded to the female side hoping to use the door within the mosque. Apparently, she was acting on information however flawed. What she didn’t know is that the door is rarely used since the females exit through their door to their hostels and males use the doors which connect to their halls, Awo and Faj as the case may be. At this point, it is pertinent to note that the mosque is not a ‘male hostel’ mosque and it has never been. Even when many of the professors were still students, males and females used to worship together in the different places used as makeshift mosques before the present location. This is not limited to the Muslims; the same thing holds for the many clubs and fellowships with offices in both halls. So it took some time for the sisters to open the door. This is absolutely normal in a sane environment devoid of prejudice. She did not knock the door, seemingly because she was not used to it, but charged on it. Will you ever rush to open a door if a stranger barged on your peace and tranquillity? The female students were not locked up in a room as erroneously claimed in some quarters; they were simply at their side of the mosque. After the door was opened, she queried the girls on why they were there… Apparently, she missed the many girls who would be doing the same thing when she passed by Awo hall Café and the photocopy centre. Other than act as a place of worship, these mosques serve as tutorial centres with a small library and reading space. MSSNOAU tutorials have always been open to everyone irrespective of gender, religious affiliation or social status. That is why we are really disappointed in some of our non-Muslim colleagues, many who have visited the mosques for tutorials and even share in our food during Ramadan. They know what it looks like. Yes, religious prejudice reigns supreme in our society, but are we not old and educated enough to eschew some parochial views? That you hold views we don’t share means you should engage in blatant slur? Our religion says: “O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin…” Q 4:135. |

Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin…” Q 4:135. Yes, OAU alumni and students know that females visit the various societal secretariats within Awolowo and Fajuyi halls at any time of the day. They hold fellowships, choir sessions, tutorials and so on in these rooms which share same floor with male rooms and toilets. The only exception is the MSSN OAU library and that’s why females have their own library in the mosque which is situated outside the dorms. It will be a great injustice to claim that these many girls who visit these fellowship offices are prostitutes because they spend long hours within the male sleeping area. That will be petty and exceptionally disingenuous. Their desperation to paint the main body of MSSN OAU as the splinter group is the joke of the century. Pray, how on earth will a group of thousands be a splinter group to some less than a dozen individuals. Apparently, something is amiss but the spin doctors chose to misinform the school authority and the general public. We challenge these people to swear by Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, considering the multitude of His creatures, the magnitude of His Power and the severity of His Punishment, that the word ‘brothel’ can be used for these mosques or that ‘prostitutes’ reside in them. We admonish these individuals to ruminate on the chronicle of the slander of our mother, A’aishah: “Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not.” Q 24: 19. That is how your Lord ended the narrative. And remember the day you will stand before your Lord to give account of every speech and deed. One more thing: if anyone would love to assist some of the female students who are deep into ‘runs’, every student on campus knows where the call girls rock, definitely not the mosques. Just a line on the Boko Haram tag: when these horrid hecklers were busy praising Osama bin Laden and his ilk, naming their children after terrorists, MSSN OAU has been criticizing and warning against such tendencies for more than a decade as a matter of belief. Lastly, we support the aspiration of the Prof. Elujoba-led administration for peace and progress on campus. This, we stated during our courtesy call to him and we cherish the role of university officers and other well meaning Nigerians in resolving this impasse. Allah alone grants success. _________________________ -- MSSNOAU OFFICIAL HOTLINES: +2348078213310, +2348036733982. -- Facebook: www.facebook.com/oaumuslimstudents -- Email: mssnoauife@yahoo.com -- Twitter: @mssnoau ___________________________ |

Oeakin:A crime is a crime, injustice has no other name, it's only normal for elite criminals to try and give a pseudo legal backing for their crimes, so all those things you are saying doesn't justify snatching people's lands for your private consumption, if the oba is corrupt, should Mr Erastus too support him if he too isn't a bloody criminal. People's family lands are there, lands that that they inherited from their fathers, you are here talking crap! You only eat what your shepherds feed you. |
ibadanfinest:You talk as if Ede is a town begging for development, there is a federal polytechnic and a private university in it, so redeemers can go wherever they like. Secondly, there is no development they are bringing, in fact they have made cost of living higher especially cost of housing. Thirdly, this doesn't justify their wickedness. Fourthly, the school only gives job to Christians, so it's either a way to Christianise the town or just occupy people's land for their selfish desires. Note: I'm not begging them to employ non Christians, I'm just informing you of the falsehood in your claims. Lastly, it's not nicompop, it's nincompoop! Don't use a vocabulary that's more than your IQ. |
Timba24:I live in the town! |
vislabraye:Why can't you, isn't it Nigeria?! Actually, I don't think it would have been this easy if the king hadn't betrayed his people. |
siokpe:Of course they petitioned and the case is still in court. The school has no significant socioeconomic benefit so far, and I doubt it will ever have one. Maybe your village people are so lazy that they will give their farming land for free to an extortion lord to build a temple of extortion! |
I think I have explained enough for the seeker of truth, I won't let you drag me into your time wasting cycle of merry-go-rounding. |

Nice thread. BaarakaLLaahu feek |
holyfather:No, they share the same core philosophy of wickedness Arebay:Chai, private university students are like agric chicken!! ! You don't know the difference between a chancellor and vice chancellor?! That school is a waste of agricultural land |
herzern:Firstly, is this your justification for their wickedness? Secondly, All what they are spending is just chicken change compared to what they are making! |
Shia people always spreading propaganda. Even from what you have written it's your self contradiction and inconsistency is obvious |
Do you mean that school built on a land snatched from poor village farmers? Wickedness in the name of religion! You extort tithes from poor people, unjustifiably acquire land, build a school that 90percent of your congregation can't afford! |
Gliding:@bolded Its a propaganda. Yes, people got married but not without the consent of their parents. Never ever! The only thing I know people did without the consent of their parents is wear full hijab. According to the law of Islam and the constitution of this country, Those people are not minors that their parents can be dictating for. And it's not that anyone was forcing them. I don't know where people threw the acclaimed freedom of religion. It's a double standard, When a lady removes the hijab and dresses horribly she is said to have socialized and she has the freedom to dress as she wills. But when the reverse happens they say it's brainwashing and all sort of nonsense. |
mrLhanray:I don't regret describing you with that! Probably you have a 8second memory like the Regal Blue Tang. Go back and read the first part of your first comment, you will see how well you deserve the qualification. Yes I'm a core Muslim, do you have a problem with it?! |
AlBaqir:Nobody is exempted from the hadith of the Messenger alyhissolaat wassalaam. Secondly, not everyone who commits a major sin will end up in hell because Allah might decide to pardon him even without repentance. The only sin that can't be pardoned once a person dies on it is disbelief and associating partners with Allah. And there are many hadiths to the effect. Thirdly, Even if they are not forgiven, no believer will be in hell forever. The fact that a person will enter hell doesn't mean he will be there forever. Only, the disbeliever will be in hell forever. Fourthly, I never said that the reason why you chose your opinion is because you're shia. I only brought out a benefit from one of hadiths you quoted and that is the noble status of Abu Bakr. And I mentioned that the hadith is a refutation against your misguidance of hating and cursing this noble companion!!! Don't mix it up. Fifthly, you are a shia, you have repeatedly called Abu Hurayrah a fabricator on this forum, and you even called him a dotard! I don't know what you are still doing with his reports!!! Just as you have also called Soheeh Bukharee an unreliable book written by some strange person not imam Bukharee, so what else do you want with the book?! Or, is it that you have set a double standard for yourself. You choose to follow a book or when you like?! |
Evassi01:I will start from your last sentence: If you were close to being educated, you wouldn't have posted this thread on this section, rather you would have gone to the religion or politics section. secondly: from the look of things, you think you have written something great. I just hope it's not some pastor that told you that you are destined to be a great writer, because you really piss poor. Your first and second points are just too watery. I'll explain from two angles: # The word God is an English word not for any religion, except you want to tell me that Jesus is from UK or US! Just as the word Allah is Arabic and even Christian Arabs in Lebanon call their deity Allah and even the pre Islamic pagans. so I don't know how you got to think of this crap you are talking. # Christians worship Jesus not God or God of creation. In fact the two points are evidences against Christianity because the God referred to in the national anthem and pledge is one not two or three. Last time I checked Christians worship three gods! And Muslims worship a single God, the God of creations! Your third point is equally an indication of your poor intellect. Islam has not made any day of the week a compulsory not even Friday. Once you finish your worship you have the right to return to work or home because we our God didn't "rest and refresh" on Sunday after being exhausted by the 'laborious' work of creating the heavens and earth!!! My advice to you: you are a poor thinker and writer. Next time you compose one of these your thrash, don't direct it to erudites! And, Get yourself a hobby that befits your IQ! |
eitsei:I wonder too!!! And the news agency too, they spread only one side of the story. This is exactly what's going on in the world. |
dwilliams:Actually, one doesn't have to be a student leader to know that the school will always have their way. Personally, I don't think it the religious difference that induced the action of the dsa, though it could have catalysed it. The major problem of Muslim students on that campus is the chief imam. But you know he is a professor, and in n academic environment, I don't know what you can say to override the opinion of a prof even if his colleagues know that he is right, it would just be 'unethical' to put the opinion of even a thousand students over a single prof. Secondly, he's an elderly man and in Yoruba land, you never win a 'fight' against an elder. Either ways, you will end up apologizing. Because of the above and some other reasons, the students have been managing him, only for him to get bolder and bolder by the day, raining insults and threats upon students on Friday sermons. This is not a new matter, in fact the present students inherited the struggle from people who inherited the struggle from.... till decades ago, the students have always tried to manage it and hide the conflict. When some Alumni come to greet us, they ask, how is chief imam, has he calmed because he's getting old now, we say no he's still as he was. |
Gliding:The MSSN has been compromised, it's not ruled by students anymore, rather it's key posts are held by old men who have graduated from higher institutions decades ago!!! Unfortunately, instead of them to move ahead with their lives the chose to remain stagnant and become godfathers for the branches of MSSN in higher institutions. Only MSSNOAU has stood up against this, many other schools wish they could. It's just pathetic that school authority doesn't understand these. As for chief imam, his problem is that he doesn't like the beards and jilbab and some other things in the sunnah. He then mad a responsibility upon himself to ensure that these things are wiped out of the campus. But Allah will continue to protect His people. The MSSN allied with chief imam to spread propaganda against the students, especially with the aid of Madam Durosinmi when she was the DSA, they refused to register us. Then they brought their kangaroo excos that the students are far from pleased with and are trying to impose them on us. The joy of the Muslims when Mrs Durosinmi was relieved of duty was great only for her successor to be even more aggressive! |
