Lol....... I will give them the required 6 months rental notice mandated by law. If anyone remains after that period I will not disturb the person, I will simply notify the nearest police station of planned demolition and ask my bulldozer to do the rest grin

The apex socio-Igbo cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as number one enemy of Ndigbo.

The development is sequel to the demolition of Oshodi market, which is believed to be largely occupied by Ndigbo on the first week of the New Year.

Speaking at a press briefing in Enugu on Monday, the national President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, alongside the National Secretary, Okwu Nnabuike said Ambode by his actions had drawn a battle line between himself and the entire Igbo land.

While describing the demolition as “an action done in bad faith”, the group wondered why the Lagos State Government should carry out such act at a time when it clearly knew that the owners of the shops were in their villages for the Christmas and the New Year festivities.

He said, “it is instructive to observe here that contrary to all principles of common justice, the traders were merely given few days quit notice. It is equally shocking that the government chose such a wrong time for the demolition exercise, thereby not only taking the shops from them but making sure that their wares were looted.

“We are forced to ask: could this be the starting point in implementing Oba of Lagos’s earlier threat during the election period that Ndigbo would be thrown into the Lagoon? Could it be another round of deportation of exercise, similar to what former governor Fashola did? These appear to be so considering that a witch cried in the night and a child died in the morning.”

While maintaining that the Lagos State Government’s action was a threat to the unity of the country, he demanded for adequate compensation of the traders who had suffered great losses as a result of the demolition.

He stressed that “it is quite inhuman for people’s means of livelihood to be taken away from them in such a manner. The government’s claim that arms were recovered from a section of the market does not fly at all here because it cannot be a reason for such a wicked treatment purely targeted on a particular people.

“We demand that the Governor of Lagos State should direct relevant government agencies to adequately compensate these traders; anything short of that, Ndigbo will henceforth regard the Governor as their number one arch-enemy.”

Well all Ambode need is the support of Yoruba people, Hausas, Middlebelt people and the SS, has last elections has demonstrated the Igbo is inconsequential. cheesy

Politics / Seun God Bless You, NL On The Right Part Again by NewNigeriaMind: 6:34am On Dec 15, 2015
This week is the first time in a long time I came to the politics section.

Before the amendment of that rule seun, the tribal bashing on this forum sent a lot of us away. In fact, I just stop coming on the forum because of the hate spew daily on this forum.

I spoke with a colleague someday last month about NL and he was surprise I visit NL. According to him, only sick people and bigots can stomach the hate spread on NL. But then I agree with him.

Check my status, I have been to just the romance section lately for a while. That's perhaps the only section where people don't come to spread hate and anarchy.

However, I noticed since the change in rule 9, a little sanity appear to have returned to the forum-politics.

I will encourage you to be bold in heart and brave to do the right thing. Doing the right thing may not give rewards in the short run, but it does give reward in the long run.

And don't be perturbed by the cry that it's against freedom of speech. Yes, there is freedom of speech, but that comes with a responsibility which most hate mongers here don't accept. You can't be spreading hate and evil in the name of freedom of speech.

Remember even Shekau to some people is a saint.

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).

Seun totally in support of this.

Nairaland is to promote Nigeria and Nigerians.

Politics / Re: Fashola Will Not Succeed As Minister – PDP by NewNigeriaMind: 3:42pm On Nov 25, 2015
[quote author=double0seven post=40391175]why I may bring like the motive of PDP for this criticism, Oliseh does have a point: Fashola is really without a doubt was an elitist governor. As a leader, he has a record for doing things that benefit the rich and upper class. He doesn't really care that much about projects targeted towards the poor and lower class.

During his reign as governor, areas like, Ikotun-Egbe, Ipaja, Agege, Ejigbo were practically abandoned. Roads in elitist areas were done and redone several times over while nothing happened in the low class areas. Also, like Oliseh Metuh said, all his housing projects and other initiatives leaned towards the rich and upper class. [/quot

So normal people like us that bought LASG houses are elite too.....

But why is pdp lecturing us on performance, did pdp built any house in its 16 years.
Politics / Re: Fashola Will Not Succeed As Minister – PDP by NewNigeriaMind: 3:39pm On Nov 25, 2015
I have told this gani guy to act normal for once.

This slowpoke lived in mafoluku oshodi and he his but a glorified tout.

Can pdp lagos point to one bungalow built by pdp either at the federal level or any state in Nigeria for the 16 years pdp ruled Nigeria.

So if I buy a fashola house for 15m I am also an elite....

Pdp a failed party that did not build one bungalow in 16years is here to lecture us on a performing government r that built estates.

Brother gani is really a foolish yoruba man. Well I am not surprise, the animal is all about his pocket. He lives on adesanya street in mafoluku, unmarried close to 45, the bros is a total failure.

I hope.

What is wrong with this kid, your comment makes it look like majority of the people are civil servants whereas that is a lie the civil servants just like making noise.

Well my people in osun are into insurance to trading, they don't need help paying their bills. Neither do they lay about in the name of being a civil servant. They are very productive.

If Your family are the lay about civil servants, tel them to leave government work and do something tangible for once in their lazy lives.

Truly, Maybe there are situations where the schools where renovated.. But I didn't see or hear of any during my service year..

Like someone said earlier in this thread.. These new schools are meant to be "Aregbe's Legacy". That's the only benefit I see.. And that's the truth.

I gave someone the statistics up there.. Osun has 431 secondary schools.. Aregbe has built Just 24 new ones. Let's assume for a minute that a new school equatest to an undisputed improvement in the educational standards, 24/431 is marginal. And the effect is negligible.

Let's not throw the baby out with the water.

I just read a piece by barcanista on.the TSA and just conveyed the facts about TSA that I think most Nigerians are ignorant of. That is constructive argument.

Except you have the proof that no old school is renovated apart from outright new schools. Then I will say you rushed to condemn the government when you don't have all the facts or you failed to pass your thoughts across correctly.

All the same, I believe democracy strength is the power it gives opposition to provide alternatives ways to doing things apart from method adopted by those in power. Criticism is good but let's try to be constructive as much as possible.

No.. I'm not from Osun.. I did my NYSC in Osun. In Ara to be precise. Ara is the last village you'll see before you get to Ejigbo if you're coming from Osogbo.

The structures in these old schools are still strong. The problems are usually bad Roofs, bad windows and inadequate desks for the students. The rehabilitation these schools need is just changing the roof, fixing the windows, supply adequate desks and paint the buildings.. It is more economical to do this.. and the reach will be far more greater..

Oyinlola did something similar.. but what he did was new classroom blocks in virtually all the schools in Osun.. His classroom blocks are distinctively marked "Oyin ni o".

Building brand new schools isn't a bad idea.. but it's not the right strategy if you don't have huge purse like Rivers State that can afford to build 750 of those model schools.

Osun has so far built around 15 - 20 of these schools which is a drop in the ocean when you consider the number of schools in Osun state.

My point is that it would have been better if these monies were expended in rehabilitating and maintaining the structures that were already on ground. The cost of building One of these schools can comfortably rehabilitate 20 schools.. That means the 20 new schools would have rehabilitated more 400 old schools..

I find no fault in this statement. Very true and agree.

But look up this thread someone posted a picture of an old school and the new one by aregbesola.

By the look of that picture, if I was the governor I wouldn't bother renovating the old structure.

In public sector, what government look at his cost benefit effect of every spending. We are not privy to the basis that informed the decision to build new schools. That been said, I am sure if you search you will find situations where the schools were just renovated.

Cheers

Wow! In your words, it's more reasonable to owe salaries and build schools like these, probably at inflated figures, all on borrowed. So who'll teach when teachers aren't paid or when there are no enough teachers.
Before you start cursing, I'm also from osun. The man is a failure, no amount of pictures can launder his image.

You keep shouting borrowed funds, oga show me one developed nation whose infrastructure is not financed by debt and tax.

How will osun moved to being productive when the infrastructure are from the sixties and fifties.

Salary my foot, the worker should leave government jobs and be creative. Lazy ass workers who resume 11 am go home 2am, contribute nothing to the state demand for salary.

This new schools is one of the examples of misplaced priorities and projects made for propaganda...

Ejigbo is a suburban at the boundary between Osun and Oyo. Ejigbo has more than 5 secondary schools most of which were built by the Baptists and Adventist.. These schools were built in the 60s with strong buildings which has been left to rot over time. These buildings need minor rehabilitation which as little as 10 million can accomplish.

Which is wiser? Building a brand new school at the cost of over 400 million for 1 or using the same to rehabilitate over 20 schools?

There in lies the foolishness of Aregbe and his schools.. The new schools account for less than 5 percent of all the schools in Osun state. When the money used in building that 5 percent can effectively rehabilitate close to 80 percent of the schools in Osun.

Ok, are you from osun state? Secondly, is no renovation going on in the old schools? Third, if the old schools are from the sixties, should osun build some new schools.

Cause what I see here is a warped logic
