@Afam

Facts are sacred and they always stand the test of time. Lies never last!

Mr. Afam, I really did not set out to oppose you and your "glaring" facts, I'm just saying that there are cases where the estimated bill is less than the actual consumption. However, now that you clearly want some opposition, I'll ask what the METER MAINTENANCE CHARGE for a 1 Phase meter is. Then what's the FIXED CHARGE for a 1 Phase meter.

Add the MMC + FC and then multiply that by your 26 months, then subtract it from N2,500. Whatever you get left, divide it by N6.50 and that will give your consumption of power in kWh. Please let us know what that figure is. it is most likely in the negative.

Well, since you say that your current billing has been hovering around N300 and N450, that's an average of N375 per month. Multiplied by 26 month, we'll have a bill of N9,700 over the past 2 years. So how really do you manage that N2,500 over two years for your 1 Phase pre-paid meter? Enlighten us please.

By the way, when I say that people complaining about estimated bills are just helpless children, I meant those who refuse to complain and straighten out their bills, not people like you and I who are ready to take up any errors with the PHCN head on.
Politics › Re: Gov. Oshiomole Changing Benin-city To Dubai. by nex(m): 2:00pm On Mar 30, 2010
On Siloku Road construction of drainage is ongoing.

On Upper Siloku, the Governor has said he would do nothing.

At 5 Junction, the status quo remains unchanged.

Adesuwa Road is a complete disaster.

@kosovo

it was good that you confess that it was the governor who disclosed the release of funds to you.

I just came back from Benin City on Friday, and I've been back and forth Benin and Lagos more than 20 times since December 2009. I don't know these things of which you speak.

Are you saying that because the governor sang a song, that makes those claims true? 4,000 employed? To where na? Doing what?

What I know for certain is that Oshiomhole demolished. But he hasn't constructed nada!

Imagine a governor that can boldly and publicly declare that he is concentrating 70% of the state budget on Benin City alone, yet we're using microscopes to look for the works this 70% has done.

If Fashola decides to concentrate 70% of Lagos budget on Ikeja, do you know the suffering which those in other parts will go through?
Politics › Re: Akunyili's Confirmation Stirs The Senate! by nex(m): 9:12am On Mar 30, 2010
Dora Akunyili failed as Minister of Information. We all know that on Nairaland and we've kept on chastising her for stealing money on the Sony deal. What did Dora achieve as Minister of Information? Nothing! She cannot even make a speech in decent diplomatic lingo. Of all the Ministers of Information Nigeria has had throughout this democracy, Dora has been the worst. She cannot be compared to Jerry Gana, Chikelu, or Nweke. Why should she be returned to the Cabinet. Under her as Minister, NTA could not even win the bid for transmission of the Junior World Cup.

What has she done to be returned as a Minister?

When the Kanti Bello senator asked her if she had not been cooking for Turai, he didn't mean physically boiling rice or preparing peppersoup. He meant that she'd been Turai's agent.

Well, Jonathan is weak, but Chinua Achebe is a bloody cripple! If he was so powerful, why didn't he become Nigeria's president so he could use his Things Fall Apart wisdom to solve all of our problems.

I used to respect this man so much, but if he continues like this, there will be nothing left to remember him by. This is the same rubbish that Wole Soyinka has thrown himself into. Prescribing literary solutions to real life issues.
Politics › Re: Electricity Tariff Set To Rise by nex(m): 8:39am On Mar 30, 2010
@Solokay

I'm very sure in the USA where you live, it is not the Government that invests in Power Generation. Let's leave the Nigerian Government out of this. Their business should be regulation and the NERC is there.

Nigerian Government should stop investing in Power, Telecoms, Water, Education, Broadcasting, Transportation and Petroleum. Let them regulate and collect taxes only.
Politics › Re: Electricity Tariff Set To Rise by nex(m): 8:20am On Mar 30, 2010
Average cost of electricity in the world today is about N12.00 per kilowatt hour. At the rate of even N8.50/kWh, only those firms that are coming to generate from Nuclear Energy will be able to make profit.

Anybody complaining about estimated bill is just a helpless child. If you know how to read your meter, you'll know when to go to the closest PHCN Office to their estimate. Estimation is not primarily to charge more. It is to conserve labour. I know someone whose bill has been estimated for more than 3 years, but recently his finances improved and he consumes more than 10 times the electricity he used to, but even with the estimation, once in a while, the PHCN comes around to read the meter just to make sure their estimate is not off the mark.

No matter the tariff on electricity, it cannot be more expensive than the way we currently generate it. The noise, the dangers.

There's also no way the tariff will be expensive and the service is not available because it will be pay as you go.

Politics › Re: Senator Kanti Bello Attacks Akunyili At Screening by nex(m): 12:10am On Mar 30, 2010
It is very funny that people cannot see that Professor Dora Akunyili is a sycophant of the highest order.

This list of "come and chop" Ministers that has just come out was crafted by herself, Jonathan and David Mark.

Dora has been in the FEC for months knowing full well that Yar'Adua's absence was wrong, but she did nothing, David Mark did nothing, Goodluck Jonathan did nothing. All of a sudden, the FEC signed contracts worth billions of Naira, including the one for purchasing the Full Body Scanners. It was when they realized that without a PRESIDENTIAL SIGNATURE, those monies could not be released for chopping, that's when then realized the importance of Jonathan. That was when Dora wrote a memo. Than was when David Mark agreed that an unconfirmed BBC tape could serve as a written document by Yar'Adua.

Who really is Dora Akunyili? In NAFDAC she helped conceal Nestle's importation of expired skimmed milk to make baby food and up till today Nestle was not tried for it. In the Federal Ministy of Information, she wrote the cover letter which would enable herself and Sony share the $50 million which they claimed was for upgrading SD broadcast vans to HD. That is Dora. That was not Dora. When someone says that was in the past, I wonder whether Obasanjo too is a changed man.
Politics › Re: Gadaffi Again, Calls For Nigeria’s Split : Along Ethnic Lines by nex(m): 11:48pm On Mar 29, 2010
For those who have been calling for the split up of Nigeria, I will tell you that when a mad man supports your point of view, then it's time to start thinking straight.

Before Ghaddafi made this statement, several quarters had already confirmed him as a mad man. Ghaddafi has a plan to rule the whole of Africa as a king. Since the mid 1990s Nigeria has been the main obstacle to that plan. THE MAN IS MAD!!! How can one same man be calling for the unity of the entire Africa as one country under his rulership, then the very same man is calling for the splitting up of Nigeria? We all saw him at the Arab League where he attacked the King of Saudi Arabia and claimed that he was the King of Kings of African Nations simply because he was made the Chairman of the AU.

Most Nigerians think within the four walls of their bedrooms.

Have you all forgotten that Asari Dokubo was sponsored by Ghaddafi to receive training in terrorist camps in Libya?

Is it not possible that now when Ghaddafi has seen that the Niger-Delta conflict has ended, he's hoping for a new conflict in Nigeria?

I'm really amazed that people really think that 150 million people splitting up 920,000 km2 of land will not cause the greatest conflict the earth has ever seen.

Look at the Ezza and Ezillo people in Ebonyi state, they are not fighting because they want to form their own individual nations, they are fighting for land.

There is no Lebensraum in Nigeria so the people will continue to either travel out or fight. Imagine telling the Fulani cattle rearers that they need a visa and a payment of import tax to bring down their cattle and feed them in the South during the harmattan. Then we'll all know what really cause the Uthman Dan Fodio Jihad.

Business › Re: US To Assist Nigeria On Nuclear Power by nex(m): 11:17am On Mar 26, 2010
The USA should read the NPT well and realize it's their duty to build us a Nuclear Power Plant FREE OF CHARGE!

We don't need their assistance, we need them to stop violating the Non Proliferation Treaty which states that the Nuclear Powers will provide nuclear facilities and technology to non nuclear powers, and in return, the non nuclear powers will keep away from developing Nuclear Weapons.

According to that agreement: China, USA, Russia, France, UK, India, and even Pakistan are bound by the treaty to provide us with Nuclear Power Plants and other civilian Nuclear technology while we in return will desist from Nuclear Weapons.

It is because the Nuclear Powers violate the NPT that countries like Israel, Iran, South Africa, and North Korea have to do it themselves and they too are have been accused of violating it. Well, Israel was wise enough to exempt itself from signing that agreement which no one obeys but everyone uses to accuse.

If we want to pay for a nuclear power plant, it should be with South Africa and China.

The Constitution provides for the President to dissolve the Cabinet but these are the flaws we need to correct in our constitution because it is highly undemocratic.

If the President requires the approval of Parliament to appoint Ministers, I wonder why the President wouldn't need their same approval to dissolve the Cabinet.

This Jonathan is beginning to show his dictatorial tendencies. He was even made Ag. President unconstitutionally because we all know the constitution is flawed to a certain degree.

Funny enough, Nigerians continue with their siddon-look attitude.

Look at the Chinese today, by 2011 they should have claimed the number 1 position even though their population would put their per capita much lower than most european and arab nations. However, the Chinese are focused on their planned achievements and rather than complain all the time, they assess their progress and make improvements.

Nigeria charted a plan to be among the top 20 economies by 2020 and now it's 2010 and we've already reached 33rd position from 59th position earlier in the decade. We're moving rapidly towards our set goal. That is simply what someone is stating and the whole world wants to descend on that fellow. What's wrong with Nigerians?

Politics › Re: US Requests Information On Yar’adua’s Health by nex(m): 2:17pm On Mar 01, 2010
The USA should just shut the hell up with their concern. They are not concerned about anything but how the can make money for nothing from Nigeria the way they're doing in Iraq.

If Nigeria goes to war today, the USA is the country to gain the most, being the highest arms dealer in the world. Just as they do in Darfur.

Additionally, no oil consuming nation will gain more from a war in Nigeria than the USA too because they'll be able to buy a hundred barrels of crude oil for just one M16 rifle. Why do you think all these countries gave Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroun? Why do you think they were so alarmed when the Nigerian government agreed to the judgement?

The USA is the worst enemy of every country on this planet and their show of concern is just an expression of need to kill, steal, and destroy.

Obama, Condoleeza Rice and all those other clowns should shut up. They have no right to demand or even request.

If it was Obama that all of a sudden fell critically ill and Joe Biden took over, would African Americans agree to all that crap. Would they not raise suspicions as regards whether there were no racial agenda to remove the African American President to replace him with a European American. Especially when Europe starts showing unrequested solidarity for the acting president.
Politics › Re: Where Does Nduka Get His Financing From? by nex(m): 9:22pm On Feb 28, 2010

the poor don't have houseboys or housegirls. Unless you don't know who the poor are.

Did you know about $12 billion which was meant for the Iraqi Central Bank but stolen by the Commanding Officer in Iraq? Please stop trying to Nigerianise corruption because the most corrupt people on this earth are Americans.

Anyway, back to the subject, Nduka is chopping rebranding dollars. If Nigeria can give a contract of $500 million to CNN for the Heart of Africa Project and nobody complained, I see no reason why ThisDay would get a contract of a couple of tens of dollars and suddenly, everybody wants to philosophise on it.
Politics › Re: NTA 8.5b Contract: Is Prof Dora Akunyuli Corrupt Or Simply Dumb? by nex(m): 8:48pm On Feb 28, 2010
Dora is an uncommon criminal. So where are the OB Vans now? Or if not, where is the N8.5 billion?

Even before Dora was made Minister of Information, I'd already known she was crook. Have you people ever wondered what happened to Nestlé after they were caught killing Nigerian babies with expired skimmed milk? Or you all have forgotten. Nestlé settled the NAFDAC boss and the case was dropped.

Now look at her in the FEC, she's kept mum all this while when Yar'Adua was away. Imagine a Minister of Information who could not inform the Nation on issues regarding the life or death of the President. All of a sudden, she gets wind of the plan to implant Jonathan as president, then we hear her voice finally condemning the emptiness of the president seat.

Na who be the mugu? Na who be the Maga?
Politics › Re: Yar'adua May Return To German Hospital. by nex(m): 7:37pm On Feb 28, 2010
Even though I can't say the exact state of health of the president or even his state of life, I feel that within the 3 months that Yar'Adua had been critically ill, one of the specialist hospitals could have been funded and upgraded to reach the standard that would be adequate to invite the President's doctors from wherever in the world they were. $1 billion is not too much to spend on a section in a specialist hospital which will look after Nigerian Presidents' lives now and in the future, then even go ahead to research other areas in medicine.

For God sake, if we can have banks among the top 500 in the world, Universities among the top 500 in the world, why can't we have just a single specialist hospital among the top 20 in the world when we claim we want to be among the top 20 countries in the world by 2020?

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital which Yar'Adua went in Saudi is meant for The Saudi King in critical situations. Tomorrow he will go to Councillor Schroeder Medical Centre in Germany next year, it will be Jimmy Carter Intensive Healthcare Centre. So if Jonathan falls ill too, he will have to go to Jacques Chirac Centre Des Recherches Medicines.
