I've been very concerned about the way African countries treat our brothers in the Caribean as if they were from another planet. They are Africans, they are our siblings and our responsibility. Have a proper look at Haitians and you will realize they are too similar to Nigerians to ignore. Nigeria has enough money to at least show we don't leave our own behind. Someone is talking about red tape while people are dead and dying in large numbers. The countries that are helping, don't they have red tape? Nigeria should be able to contribute $20 million and some troops. And who's the person shouting about China not being a third world country. China themselves have accepted that tag and before you know it, they'll be well ahead of the whole world. So no matter how rich or developed China has become, the West has maliciously labelled them as third world, and they totally agree. What's your problem? I hope Nigeria quickly brings an end to this "mumu" way of life. |
I was very alarmed to learn that the original charge brought against him by the Justice Department was "attempt to destroy an airplane" which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment with a fine of $250,000. I still can't understand how or why. |
How about the Netherlands? Are they on that list? Is this not racism? Discrimination? Nigeria, I wish you well. |
Finally, a befitting name. I knew we'd make it. I'd rather be part of a terrorist country than an ordinary corrupt country. |
Why do Nigerians always shout scam when they don't understand something? |
I support the death Penalty including for such crimes as gross corruption. I hate the fact that people will commit grievous crimes to society, only for society itself again to sponsor the remainder of their lives with free accommodation, feeding and clothing. It so pains me that Bode George who should be preparing for the noose is getting free welfare from the country he robbed of billions. I FULLY SUPPORT THE DEATH PENALTY. |
a Nigerian cannot win a Gold Medal for Britain. The man does not know who he is and he better not be deported here, else we deport him to Haiti. |
@Snowdrops this thread will only end when there are no more Edo people on earth. Never! |
@oshoke imhomhoh I believe I've heard that name somewhere before. Perhaps UNIBEN. Somebody from this thread added me on facebook. Can you holler please for recognition? Be there cos it's going to be explosive. Of course there are plans for the Edo Nairaland Party, but first, the entire Nairaland has to kick off with its party first. |
@na_so let's worry about the maps later. Becomerich has no doubt contributed a lot to political discussions on Nairaland. Even when he was bringing up useless points, it taught us the lines of argument not to pursue in political circles. For instance, merging Benin Republic with the Yoruba, Edo, Delta and Ijaw. So let's worry about the maps later and give credit to the fellow for bringing such things to our attention so we know how such crazy ideology will be dealt with in case it comes up in the future. Do you remember the sort of issues Arthur Nzeribe used to bring up in the Senate? They may have confounded most Senators and even sometimes annoyed them, but it just made them think "what if" and make possible solutions available. @kosovo if you're moderator, does that mean Richyblack is gone? Should we get the party started? |
@Jarus Are you trying to vote twice in one poll? Is that not some form of rigging? |
China doesn't joke around with crap. Their law is do or die. Do the right thing or die that is. I prescribe the death penalty for many crimes in Nigeria. There are some die-hard criminals in jail eating free food and breathing free air. It will be difficult for NAFDAC to institute laws that will require the death penalty for importers of fake or adulterated drugs, but there is a simpler solution to that. NAFDAC can work with the Chinese Government to ensure that the Nigerian collaborators are caught in China or even when caught in Nigeria, as long as the source of their fake drugs is China, they should be extradited to China for trial and punishment. It's that simple as long as Nigerians won't start crying again that China is executing Nigerians because that is one of our favourite pastimes. We don't care to know the kind of atrocities Nigerians engage in when abroad and that some of those atrocities are targeted at us, all Nigerians want is for Obasanjo and Yar'Adua to go plead for criminals to be released and deported back into our populace. |
I really don't know when people will realize that becomerich is always right. Incoherent though, but he's always right. His maps are all the evidence we need to know that people from Benue State are not Arewa. When even a majority of them now speak fluent Hausa as a common language across the tribes. The maps prove otherwise. The maps can clearly show that a state which is a part of the Sokoto Caliphate is not really Arewa. The maps are there so we should all shut up. The military cannot take over right now because Nigerians are more agitated than we've ever been besides more and more people know that the entire Nigerian Military is just 150,000 strong so there are some of us who will not watch 1 soldier control and oppress 1000 of us. @becomerich I'm really sorry that they tried to "assassinate" you. I think it may have been a case of mistaken identity. You've got so many IDs that a group may have just decided to weed out some becomeriches, not knowing there's only one. Take heart. |
@kosovo by the time you're done with this poll, you'll give INEC more than enough credit. If it's this difficult to conduct an election among literates, computer literates, nay, internet literates, then imagine what it'd be like to conduct a poll that will include illiterates and the unlearned. And who the hell is vowiski? You should know why I ask. BTW, it is quite alarming to learn that you've become a moderator. My nominations: Becomerich Aloy~Emeka Jakumo I enjoy reading their posts. |
@Komekn the electorate has the duty to always instruct their Senators and Representatives on the stance to take and the decision to make in the Parliament. There is no decision that should be single-handedly made by any Senator or Representative, that is why when a new issue comes up, there's always room for adjournment so that those Parliamentarians who have not been duly instructed on such a matter can then be advised by the Senatorial District or Constituency. During the third term debate, if you had watch and seen the speeches by Wabara and Saraki, you will understand that no individual has any rights to declare personal judgement in the Parliament. Sometimes, I believe it is because we have left our Senators and Representatives that they choose to do whatever they wish in Abuja. You cannot abandon the workers you employ and expect them to perform you heart desire which remains in your heart. @chisomquee did you vote? How can you claim that the people who voted have imposed their elected on you? If you're trying to insinuate rigging, then we've seen some other constituents who recalled their elected and reelected Representatives and Senators under more scrutinized elections. Why not your constituency? Please you people should let me hear word with these old gist of imposition and selection. Generally, any confusion in this succession or non-succession thing is originally a PDP issue, so why do all these other opposition parties and their members from the North decry this? They have joined in now. Why won't Buhari and the ANPP come out and pronounce their support for justice and the succession of Yar'Adua by Jonathan. Because it is now a tribal matter, they're all mum. Nigerian are waiting for Jehovah himself to step down from Heaven and lead Jonathan by the hand to the Office of the President as if we're still in the Old Testament. Una go wait die. |
@No2Atheism It's good that you now know that. But since you are still waiting for me to give you a line of action, I doubt if you've learnt anything. |
This is the problem with Africans, we want to celebrate and worship individuals rather than organizations. Rather than appreciate a government administration, we'll pick out Yar'Adua and make him God and that is when he starts dictating. Rather than appreciate the achievements of NAFDAC, we'd rather single out Dora Akunyili and make her a messiah and that's when she'll let us down. So what should we do with Seun? Pull him out of Nairaland and lick his toes? Nairaland is doing great and that's fair enough. But if you'd like to advice him on improving the site, you can add him on Yahoo Messenger. |
@adconline please do not bring up information of which there are no facts to back up please. Total in Zambia, Shell and Chevron in South Africa, BP in African Countries, CNOOC in Sudan, are these companies operating in an environment where there's no free market? Where they produce and after that, their sale price will be fixed? No! They refine and sell according to demand and supply. If we stop dictating prices of refined products and allow the laws of demand and supply to shape the pricing of petroleum products, then producers will feel justified to enter the market. Just imagine for one minute that another essential commodity such as water was being regulated and subsidized. We would have died of water scarcity one of those days in the past. In terms of importation of petroleum products, the government freed it up for all companies which had the capacity to start importing, not just the NNPC but the companies tried and after a couple of months they realised it was too expensive as long as they have to wait for subsidies so the companies on their own volition went back to the system of quota through the NNPC. It was not the Presidency that told them to revert. It was the subsidy that messed them up. Let's deregulate and let's get rid of subsidies in all sectors of the economy. Let's forget about forcing private entities to bear our burden. Will you be happy if after paying your taxes the government forces you to construct the road around your street? No. What we should do is make it profitable for private companies to operate not to force them to operate unprofitably. |
I am not BLACK, I'm only AFRICAN with CHOCOLATE SKIN, and they are not white, they are only Oyibo with PALE SKIN. White is good and black is bad. Whosoever agrees that they are black will only perform black deeds and produce black results. For years these Oyibo people have tried to impose it in your brain that you are black so that you will believe that nothing good can ever come out of you but the truth is that it is mostly they who are black. You may experiment by taking off your shirt and tying a black polyethene bag or a black cloth on your arm then look at yourself in the mirror if really there's anyway your skin is that colour. BLACK IS BAD! look at every phrase that has the word black in it: black leg, blackmail, black book, black hat hacker, black sheep, black magic, black market, does it mean that the leg, the mail, the book, the hacker, the sheep, the magic or the market has a colour that is African? No! Black simply connotes that a thing is bad, inferior, undesireable or evil. Now, on the other hand, if you tie a white polyethene bag or white cloth on the bare arm of an Oyibo person, does it in anyway show that they are the same colour? So why do they insist that we must call they white and they instill it in our brains so much that we agree that they are the ones who are white. Now look at all the phrases which include word white and you will notice that the true meaning of that word as used to describe humans is simply good, desireable, superior, and even holy. There was a time when some group of people were being solely referred to as BLACK AMERICANS some intellectuals sat together and decided they should be better known is African Americans because they found that the name Nigger which they reject simply translates through Negro to mean black. Black is bad. White is good. Some Africans are black. Some Oyibo are black. Some Oyibo are white. Some Africans are white. I am African, I am white and I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. |
In a dictatorship, Media Houses can be banned even when they have not broken the law, but in a democracy, when a media house commits a crime, should they not be punished? So when an individual tells a lie, assaults someone verbally or causes a riot, they should be punished under the law in a democratic state, but once someone registers a Media Agency and uses it to perpetuate such crimes, they should be allowed to go scot free? Very soon media houses will start conducting armed robbery operations and Nigerians will say because they are in a democracy and they are a media agency, they shouldn't be shut down. I'm not saying that any Media House should not make it their Satan-given right to be the national bearers of bad news, but when they start peddling lies and destabilizing the national entity with such lies, then causing an uprising and threatening the peace of a nation, they have broken the law and must be punished. It is in our constitution as a democratic nation. |
Goodluck Jonathan is in Charge. Who is Lyndon Johnson? Did he resign office? How can people continue comparing ice cream with moi-moi. |
I really love the way this thread is going? Where are those Nairalanders whose only hobby is cussing? They should come in and get cure. |
@Jaybee2412 Goodluck Jonathan. |
Is it the Government in other parts of the world that builds houses? The 6.3 millions houses that are currently available, were they built by the government. Nigerians will never wake up and do things for themselves. The former Minister of Works and Housing reported to one of such committees about the year 2000 that Nigeria must construct about seven hundred thousand units of housing every year, but Nigerian activists and journalists said more than 2 million housing units must be constructed (by the Government). Where are they today? Rather than work towards what we can handle as citizens, we prefer to conjure fantastic figures and blame them on our elected officials. I keep saying it that when we say Government, the people are the government. Those holding the office are only elected officials who are there to do what we make them do. It's like a boss who cannot make their staff work. Why should such a person complain or cry. |
It leads to Calabar so people don't continue to assume up data from thin air. |
If Nigerians feel they want the Vice President to take over from the President, all they need to do is call on their Representatives and Senators who would then demand the medical reports of the President and vote on whether he can carry on or not. But trust the 150 million Nigerians, they don't know how to approach the officials they have elected to manage their government. They can't even be bold enough to allow the people they employed with their votes to be aware of their concerns. In fact, let's be more blunt, "the 150 millions electorate dey fear their elected officials". So please, somebody tell me, whose fault is that? Jonathan? Yar'Adua? Mark? Obasanjo? |
I'd love for Sahara Reporters to stop deleting stuff from their website after time has proven them to be liars. They should be bold enough to take responsibility for their lies rather than sneaking unto their website to wipe things off and leave no evidence of them misleading Nigerians and the world. This is very wrong. @Kobojunkie it is clear that you are completely divorced from the reality of the situation in Nigeria. If you can afford to mention that some developenent may have occurred in only Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, yet you're asking of places like Calabar and Kano. When was the last time you visited, or even heard news about Kano or Calabar? This is the problem a lot of people face after they have visited Sahara Reporters' website and watched AIT for years. They begin to have nightmares which they refer to as Nigeria. Please, make an emergency visit to Kano and Calabar before you continue on these sorts of threads. BTW, to the individual who claimed that Nigeria is a rogue state I advise you to always have a dictionary with you while watching CNN henceforth. |
@walata you asked me if Sahara Reporters were destabilizing Nigeria. No, they the are building bridges over River Niger. Tell me one single article of news which the Sahara Reporters reported which gladdened the hearts of Nigerians. Have they ever apologized to Nigerians when some of the stories they carried were later discovered to be absolutely fallacious? Are they responsible for what they do? You see, some people know how to work on the emotions of the ignorant and the unenlightened. Look at FOX NEWS in the USA, everybody knows that Obama is 100 times a better President than George Bush, what they have resorted to is inciting racial hatred because they know that racism is an emotional issue for all Americans. So they don't actually call him an African monkey, but they just keep running him down in a way they know they'll never talk of Bush or due Clinton for that matter. Except this coming Christmas maybe, there's no day that Fox News will ever applaud any of Obama's achievements. This is the kind emotional abuse is what Nigerians happily suffers at the hands of Sahara Reporters. |
