Abeg, they should give him a calabashed parrot egg to stare at and let's see if anything will happen. I don't know why these people will reject civilization and continue to pursue superstition. The law is there and someone elsewhere is suggesting some fantastic mysticism. If it were as Alex Akinyele put it, then one would have to wonder why Alao Akala had not been made to stare at a parrot's egg. Ignorant old man. Let them give the Deji a parrot's egg whether he will not only gaze at it in appreciation, but he'll also make of it his breakfast.

@Ibime I won't lie to you, Ghanaians are very poor. My sister started selling food in Ghana since 2007 and when she started, she was selling just the same way she would in Nigeria, but the citizens refused to buy. She had to she had to derive a system of selling tiny quantities of food for very minute prices before she stated getting patronage. There is a Shoprite mall in Ghana, and if you try to understand how cheap the prices of goods in Shoprite are, then you will understand why Nigerians are shocked that Ghanaians in Ghana cannot afford the wares in Shoprite. @ALL please disregard that figure of $620 per capita, when these Forbes and others want to really depict poverty, they like to go to the extreme. Ghana's GDP per capita has always been about half of Nigeria's and in 2009, it got to $1,400. |
Oshiomhole has announced that his government is concentrating 70% of the entire budget of Edo state on Benin City, yet there is little development there. I wonder what the rural areas will be like. All he did was to tar ring road which is the centre of Benin City so that everyone passing through will think he was doing anything. The man is just for show. is this not the same Oshiomhole that used to criticize government and spread all sorts of stories of how easy it is to make Nigerians live very fruitful lives in a developed environment. I guess he couldn't beat them, so he joined. |
I'll have to compare the economies of Ghana and Nigeria because of late, people like Obama have done the same. Someone was saying earlier that the whole of Ghana was like Western Nigeria or Eastern Nigeria, but the truth is, no matter size or population, per capita income is constant. Nigeria currently has a per capita income of about $2400 |
Alex Akinyele is a clown. I was the Alaafin of oyo this applied to, not just any Oba in Yorubaland. How can an enlightened man expect that the Deji will stare at a parrot's egg and die. if at all the man dies, then it's not suicide because it is clear that there were poisonous fumes released in his room. Stare at an egg and die. Naija abeg make una no use laugh kill me. |
@Jide Cole I do agree with you that it is unfair to compare Lagos with Kwara state. I was in Kwara in 1998 and Ilorin looked so rural. I've seen some photos and videos lately which are quite impressive and I intend to enter Ilorin before 2011. @ Kola Yusuf I'm really depressed by this Public Pensions Bill, and I'm ashamed of Kwarans for not being able to command their Representatives to rip that Bill to pieces. This is probably the worst document I've ever read in my life. It seems more like fiction than reality and I know the Governor has something to do with it. The truth is that whether the Bill is passed or not, a change is going to come, and very soon for that matter. That law will be overturned and the beneficiaries will have a debt hanging over their heads.

This is good news. These are the type of men that will die for our votes. I don't know Professor Jega himself, but I knew hie som Muhammadu Jega back in Secondary School, and even as a teenager, the boy was too strict. I can only imagine his father. |
Information from various sources in the FCT claim that Yayale Ahmed has just been chosen by Goodluck Jonathan as the Vice President of the Republic. Is there anyone who can confirm this? |
That figure is quite minute. Out of a population of 150 million, I've seen some people who commit more than one abortion annually. I believe that more than 1.5 million abortions are carried out in a year. |
A pure man. Religious, truthful, simple, he was a good man. |
Mendum, menda or erratum? Please, enough of this crap too. |
Can't we really govern ourselves? Are we too young? Well, maybe we should revisit history a little. Gowon become President of Nigeria in his 30s, Murtala became President in his 30s, Obasanjo became President in his 30s, Buhari became President in his 40s, even Ojukwu became President of his own faction of the country in his 30s. So what the hell is IBB saying. That what is good for his generation is not good for his children's own generation? This just goes to show the dictatorial "I'm better than them" mentality he has dreamed of running this country with. I don't even condone anybody over the retirement age of 60 going about looking for employment, especially in the Government House. Please let him come out and contest so that we will defeat him. Let him come and spend his last dime to re-enrich the masses a bit. Lessons have to be learnt so that the next retiree who wants to even think about being so flagrantly stupid will take some wise steps back. If Obasanjo had not tried his third term agenda and had Nigerians defeat him, someone would have thought it a viable project in this country's future. But now it's dead. So please, let IBB bring on this his "Baba 70-cracy" and let's mess him up at the polls and humiliate himself, his family, and even the memory of his wife, Maryam, in the press. In the next generations to come, no Nigerian will ever attempt this rubbish. I see some misguided fellows claiming that IBB should be given a chance. A chance or another chance? How can anyone possibly support IBB running this country. Putting your life in the hand of a fraud of national proportions, a serial murderer, a debtor of billion dollar proportions, and a champion of SAP. Yes. SAP which even today is being rejected even today, by Greece. How could you have planned to support the Presidency of such a well rounded, unrepentant criminal? 2011, there will be an electoral revolution. But anyone who tries to truncate the electoral revolution will become the victim of the violent revolution that will follow. I wish everyone knew about "Operation Aure". We will do the same thing to IBB, the same thing he did to us shall we do to him in 2011, and we're starting now. We will not only destroy IBB and all of his, we are on a mission to DESTROY THE IBB MACHINERY! Every media house, communication firm, advertising agency, every individual, every company that tries to impose IBB onto our consciousness will be blacklisted and boycotted, and every other individual or organization which tries to do business with those blacklisted will also be boycotted. By the time they realize that the money their balancesheet is not "blacking out" despite doing business with IBB, but instead, "redding up" the more, they'll return their loyalty to where it should rightfully be; with the people. Some young people want to exempt themselves from the political process, though they complain everyday about people like IBB, but the real problem though is with people like you who help them achieve their goal by your inaction. I'm not trying to fight here or anything, so if I seem a bit too harsh, I'll be sure to drop an apology at the end of this post. First, you don't know what politics is. I know so many young Nigerians have been fed with the motto of "politics is a dirty game", but I can promise you that this is being churned out of the the IBB/Buhari/Ojukwu and all other antic politician's propaganda machine to stunt the minds of our generation from wanting to go into this so called dirty game. Forget about what they taught you in school, but the greek word "politikos" which stemmed from the word POLY which simply means many. So where many are gathered together to operate as a single polity, there has to be an art or a science guiding the governance or direction of such a group. That is what politics is. The evildoers go into it to dirty it up for their personal gain, and the gooddoers go into it to clean it up for the general good of the entirety polity. Now, unless one wants to exile themselves from the whole of mankind and go live under a rock somewhere in the arctic, they should really care about politics because it's about you, and it's about us all. Maybe he misses Maryam and he's a bit shy to opt for suicide. We'll help him out. Now, I know some people are wondering, "this not the same fellow who was oil to the IBB 2003 campaign?". I say to you, that is what the Japanese refer to as "Shinobido". The way of infiltration, counter-intelligence, and sabotage. We will be there again, and we will burn down the house that IBB built. Hopefully, this time, it'll be that Hilltop Mansion, and we will even burn down the hill itself so that no evil lair will ever be built on it again. Yeah, like I said earlier, for those that didn't like my words, sorry. |
There's no law in the world that should annul a wedding of an 18 year old to a 55 year old. @Goldmind there's no taboo about this. There's no incest here. If Sharia Law should promote something Western culture does not, you complain. When Sharia Law promotes what Western culture does, you complain. What exactly do you want? You're just against the Sharia Law for no reason at all. As men marry young women in their teens, women too should be allowed to marry young boys in their teens, as long as they don't go below the legal age. Or are you just angry cos Sharia is promoting equality of the sexes? |
This man is crazy. How can one perfect what they never practised? He needs to spend at least 5 years in his hometown before being allowed to contest Local Government Elections. He knows some of the problems of Nigeria, but he doesn't understand them, and he has no clue what has hindered their solution all this while. Does he know what the Nigerian Factor is? Does he know how it can be curbed? He has contributed virtually nothing to Nigeria and is neither part no parcel of this society. He should try becoming Mayor of maybe Houston or Governor of Texas in his own locale rather than come to Nigeria which has become a foreign land to him. |
@naijamini you started by stating that Nigeria is sitting on a keg of powder. However, now we know that your story is from somewhere in our untold history, I'd prefer your edit your initial post to read "Nigeria was sitting on a keg of powder". Secondly, if it has not been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was in that mob that beat up your pastor and cut off his balls, then his name has no business appearing in your article. |
Not at all. He would have been a very terribly corrupt and clueless president. |
Well, 2011 is just nearby. IBB will lose woefully. I know I'm going to get a share of that money and he's still going to lose terribly. |
Ibori's lawyer is silly. If he'd sued for a couple of millions, maybe it woulda been considerable. But since they've sued for N10 billion, then the EFCC have to go the extra length to prove his crimes so they wouldn't have to pay out two thirds of a billion dollars. |
Yeah, I'm starting a new group myself not targeted against PDP, but any organization or individual giving support or offering services to IBB towards the aiding in his 2011 farce. The effort of this group will be especially focused on media houses who intend to defile the memory of Dele Giwa by advertising for IBB. Advert Agencies which work on IBB's campaign will be blacklisted. |
Yes we can, and we will. It costs us more to run generators at some times of the day than to have constant power supply from the national grid. |
So a man who gets a loan from an Islamic Bank must have their hand slashed off in any event of involvement of the individual in theft. This is quite interesting. I bet you can confirm that something of this nature has happened in Britain. You may want to cite an instance of a customer of one of the Islamic banks in Britain who was stoned to death for fornication. Afterall you did mention that British practise Islamic banking more than most other nations. So where are the decapitated murderers? Where are the mutilated thieves? Which court in Britain has sentenced any customer of a non-Interest Bank to flogging? According to you, institution which accepts Islamic Banking endorses extremism according to you. Well, what about the institutions which endorse traditional contribution system known as "Ajo"? They also promote tribal war? Do they also recognise no law higher than customary law? I'll give you an example of Spring Bank which was offering these services. How can you prove that Spring Bank was encouraging defiance against any law besides customary. Again, if really the conventional banks have not financed terrorist groups like IRA, RUF, and ETA, why should Islamic banks sponsor Al Qaeda? How do they make profit from terrorist activities for their customers and shareholders? Perhaps you forget that the primary aim of any bank, Islamic or not, is to make money for its shareholders and customers. So when an Islamic Bank sponsors the bombing of a Church, we have to know how that reflects in their balancesheet. Zakat which you mention is not usually paid to beneficiaries by bank transfer, cheque or even cash. The fraction which an individual wants to use as Zakat is most used to purchase food, clothing, and amenities to help the poor alleviate their poverty. I don't know how any terrorist group will take advantage of food, clothes, sewing machines, and motorbikes handed to the poor to launch an attack on Nigeria, more less the West. I agree with you that this Sheik Yusuf Qaradawi is an expert in Sharia Compliant Investment. However, I can boldly tell you that Major Nidal Malik Hasan who killed 12 soldiers and a civilian, and wounded 38 in Fort Hood, Texas, USA was a psychiatrist. I don't expect that you would call for psychiatry to be done away with too? A terrorist may be a tailor, a dancer, a driver, a soldier, a doctor, or a mechanic. That doesn't mean it's their job description that made them terrorists. Now, my friend, how do you come about naming Iran and Sudan as terrorist states? Because the USA says so? Well, the USA also says that Nigeria is a terrorist state. So why point a distant finger? You're advocating for Muslims to be forced into using only an interest banking system developed by Christians and Jews for Christians and Jews. How would you feel if the non-interest banking system developed by muslims for muslims is being imposed on Christians and Jews as the only banking system in Nigeria? What is currently happening in Nigeria is that we're imposing our own banking system, our own legal system, our own trade system, and our own educational system on them. All they are asking is the right to practise their own. If the Ottoman Empire, Saudi Arabia and Egypt which are virtually entirely populated by Muslims can permit interest based banking, why can't Nigeria which has half of its population as Muslims not permit non-interest banking? Why do you want us to be intolerant when they have been tolerant? Who is the extremist here? Who really is the oppressor? And if there is a peaceful means of Islamizing Britain, what really is wrong with that? What is wrong with Evangelizing Saudi Arabia? What is wrong with Evangelizing Iran? Why should we condemn what we do? People are free to choose a religion which is introduced to them without violence. If you're a Christian, imagine how glorious it will be in the sight of God and man if the whole world should be born again. So also it is to the muslim that it would be most pleasant to Allah and mankind that the whole earth be Islamized. How can you be so afraid of the same thing you want to do, unless you have evil intentions. If you deem it fit to try to convert people to your religion, then give adherents of the other religions the right to try to convert members of your religion too, unless you're the one who is intolerant of other religions. This argument you have put up against non-Interest Banking for muslims is one of the most bias, myopic and poorly researched I've seen on this forum and I cannot imagine the state of bigotry you had to place your mind in to even be able to belly this trash you are spewing. @frosbel you completely drifted from non-Interest Banking to Islam bashing. Rather than discussing low profit earnings and inadequate professionally trained Islamic bankers to staff the institutions, you proceed to completely condemn Islam and now you say you don't want it to become a religious issue. You made it a religious is right from the start! What is this holier than thou attitude about you that makes you believe what you do to others shouldn't be done to you. Or are you too blind to see what you do? Anyway, as was rightfully stated by another poster, it was not a Muslim CBN Governor who introduced non-Interest Banking in Nigeria. I just hope you don't turn round and say Charles Soludo and Joseph Sanusi are agents of Islamic extremists. Please don't. If the idea was sold to Professor Soludo, it was thought through before approval. |
The Chinese are the best at modern rail contracts. Even the USA which has developed its own high speed rail, has recently given a contract to a Chinese firm on the count that they are more efficient and quite cheaper. I don't see why people are complaining just because it's China. Huawei, is the reason why the Nigerian telecomms industry has grown so fast. When it was Siemens, Motorola and Alcatel building the GSM infrastruct, the snail speed was outrageous. They were too expensive because they always worked as a cartel. Not to mention all the bribery. Chinese firms are the best for this contract. The price though is what I think is outrageously low. |
Like I mentioned in another forum, the EFCC should be aware that there are 2 James Onanefe Ibori as we all know. Are they sure it's not that other guy again that committed all these crimes rather than the ex-Governor? ' ' Knowing full well that there is another James Onanefe Ibori, is the EFCC sure it isn't that other Ibori they need to persecute? I'm just concerned so that this doesn't become like the case of the Election Tribunal. ' ' Matter of fact, I want a census to carried out to determine the population of James Onanefe Iboris in Nigeria today in order to ascertain which one is to answer to this charges, which one is wanted really, because it may just turn out to be a case of mistaken identity again. A TALE OF TWO IBORIS! |
