How could y'all let this thread die? ![]() |
pro01: Are you sure you didn't leave something out? A little bird whispered to me that you always pad your bra before going out. Could this be true? Or is this not 'holy' enough to make your holy routine list? That mole of a bird also revealed to me that the holiest part of the OP's routine involves dabbing her hair with a brush dipped in black shoe polish. The purpose of this practice is two-fold. It gives her greying hair a phoney hue, while slowly suffocating all resident creepy-crawlers. Now, regarding the topic, my most holy practice before going out is waking up. I find wandering about in my sleep terribly inconvenient. ![]() |

If the face on the crab had been that of a certain retired General from the northern part of Nigeria, i would've been quick to label this the work of a certain nairalander with a six-letter moniker. ![]() The M. O. is suspiciously similar. |
Okija_juju: He is very correct.. All he did was complete the mandate of the late Yaradua who was the duly elected president not him!Beats me how everyone before you (and a good number after you) couldn't figure this out. |
For now i'd say All These Things That I've Done by The Killers and It's My Life by Bon Jovi. |
I suck on the pc alright. But with T9 prediction on me alphanumeric keypad? Fast enough to make your jaw drop ![]() |
tpia@:Definitely! ![]() |
ndu_chucks: Fashola should thread very carefully. Smart leaders keep the Army on their side at all times, at all costs. This is first-grade crap. |

it's clear from the piece itself that she wasn't repeatedly pelted with pebbles and small rocks until she slumped in a bloody heap (which is the impression one gets from the headline), but was struck hard with a single (and probably sizeable) stone. Whoever wrote the headline must have been reading too much greek mythology. Which kine cyclops be that? |
Friday Evening: Friends come over and we do rigorous battle on the pad till midnight....sometimes longer. Pro'12. Saturday: Rise at eight and spend the rest of the day indulging my indolence in whichever way that suits the current mood...usually a novel, short stories, or just web surfing generally. Sunday: Church from eight to ten. Then laundry. Then i spend the rest of the day playing PES again and wishing monday would drift farther away. |
ogbeche77: You rarely come across a topic created by Jakumo, so for this reason i must make a comment here, now i have commented. ![]() |
Reference: And then when you come in to land at Abuja and the light goes out, you may be lucky not to be diverted to Lagos. Or in more serious scenarios experience a near miss incident with patrol vehicles, construction equipment or a herd of cattle as some foreign airlines have reported over the years.Wicked! ![]() |
yamakuza: new and general. Thanks for making that clear. I wish someone with real answers would trouble to reply. |
Richfella: I don't think it's a scam yet. After 48 hours and he doesn't send you the stuffs you could say that.Actually it would still be too hasty to write off the deal as fraudulent merely because of a 48-hour delay in correspondence. Having mustered the courage to pursue such a venture in the first place, it is necessary for the OP to continually keep an open mind, allowing for unforseen circumstances that might prevent Mr. Osondu from giving prompt replies to his enquiries. 1700 is a frighteningly huge sum and as such i can understand the OP's anxiety, but i'm equally assured by the impressive claims made in Mr. Osondu's mail, and feel confident that even at this moment the proficient money doubler is working towards spinning the OP's flax into gold. P. S. I'm afraid the OP hasn't been very adventurous. Having found a source willing to transmute the enormous 1700 bucks to an even more impressive 14000 bucks of daily income, i wonder that he did not entrust twice the required capital to Mr. Osondu in order to reap a staggering 28000 every twenty-four fúcking hours. Plus you could also pay a small fee to the same account to encourage Mr. Osondu in the money-doubling process. |
Can someone please say something? Mods?? Ain't anyone else faced with the same difficulty? |
*Fin by Anberlin All These Things That I've Done by The Killers The Frog Prince by Keane. I Am a Stone by Demon Hunter I've had the songs for sometime and have always loved them, but for the past few days it feels as though my soul is being poured out of a jug when i listen to *Fin. And the other three seem to unveil my feelings in an equally strange (and soothing) way. |
The 'following' link up there that leads to posts of PEOPLE i follow just disappeared. Initially i could still read 'em by adding 'following' to the nairaland address in the address bar, but then it started showing TOPICS i was following instead. That's still all i get right now. I have no idea if it's a new and general arrangement or just my problem. In any case, i'd be glad if the mods/admin 'll clear things up for me, as I'd pretty much hate to keep tracing 'manually' the posts of the folks i follow. And missing them altogether is just unthinkable. ![]() |

tiarabubu: The problem is NOT the judge but the law. It's part of colonial laws that nigeria inherited and the national assembly is busy "farouking", and "otedollaring" to care to amend.Well said. |

I can't recall any particular titles for novels other than Grisham's The Rainmaker [which has been mentioned] and A number of Hadley Chase stuff. However, i could put up quite a list of short stories. Anton Chekhov's Story Without a Title is totally hilarious! But you'd have to wait till the end to feel the kick. And then pretty much everything by H. H. Munroe [Saki]. This includes Esme, The Story Teller, The Elk, Herman the Irascible, and Shock Tactics. |

funshybam: ...but...wait a minute! Did i just read that they have a lawyer...sorry 3 LAWYERS defending them in court?!I'm afraid your argument is rather uninformed and not very convincing. If you were slammed with a criminal charge today and lacked the means to engage the services of an attorney, the state would provide one for you. That's assuming you do not opt for a specific lawyer of your choice, for then the fees would be your burden to bear. That said, i wonder how it is that you conclude they would be unable to acquire a sizeable defence team. Unless of course you're familiar with the suspects and the financial capabilities of their families. |
crackhouse: I am just wondering why the judge is in a hurry to free the boko haram members in the name of obeying the rule of law while we have a lot of innocent Nigerians who have spent more than 5yrs languishing in prisons as an awaiting trial suspects and nothing has been said about them. Is it now that the judge remembered that, the awaiting trial suspects are not suppose to stay long in prison before being tried? What about other Nigerians who have spent up to 5yrs?. Or is it that the judge is getting some kind of threats from the BH boys?.It's true that there are folks rotting in our jails without having stood trial for charges often ranging from the frivolous to the false. It's also true that very little effort has been made by any relevant authority to do anything about them. But i wonder, why isn't the decision of the honourable judge regarded as an attempt to discourage the deplorably lazy attitude of the prosecutors, which is in fact the very cause of the numerous 'awaiting trial' cases? If you're suddenly going to do right after there've been a multitude of wrongs, you still gotta start somewhere. It can't be done all at once. |
I find the majority of responses on this thread positively shocking. Gentlemen, the question is not whether those men are terrorists or not, what is important here is reverent regard for and strict adherence to the rule of law. You ever heard the maxim that says it's better to let ten guilty men go free than to make one innocent one suffer? Given the tendency of our police to make gestapo-style raids on citizens who are legally going about their own business, it would hardly be absurd to think that one or two of the paraded suspects may be innocent. Even if they were all in fact guilty, it is the duty of the prosecutors to convince the court of their culpability; beyond any reasonable doubt, too. The men in black are no strangers to criminal prosecution and must be aware of all that ought to be done to make those rascals walk the plank. Why then have they failed to produce a witness in twelve months? In my opinion, the judge did the right and reasonable thing, whether or not he was 'encouraged' by the 'benevolence' of a third party. The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the Nigerian Police. We must learn to let ourselves be governed by law at every front, and bring ourselves to accept that Justice does not always conform to individual perceptions of it. |

apocalypse: And here I was taking you seriously , so you are the clown I thought you were. You know, i wonder what woe has eaten so deep into you as to replace your sense of humour with a neurotic itch for tasteless nagging. |
slimyemm: mister Apocalypse,if you must know, you have in no way communicated anything on this thread!I agree completely! |
apocalypse: Please go back to your initial post and tell us what workable solution you have proffered short of killing the guys mum , this isn't about the words but about giving practical solutions ( not that I expect you to know what that means ) to a problem. It would seem that you have some sense after all. What a gladdening surprise! Clearly you were able to understand at least a fragment of my post (probably after poring over it for hours, painfully tracing each word with your forefinger). I'm quite certain that with a little more effort on your part, and perhaps with patient explanation from any smart seven-year-old around, you'll eventually realise that my 'impractical' suggestion was not intended to be taken seriously. This is a forum, for crap's sake. If you or anyone else desires strait-laced 'workable and practical' solutions to your numerous woes WITHOUT allowing for flippant comments like mine, then put some money together and go see a freakin' shrink! ![]() |
