Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes 30 miles from Iran's sole nuclear power plant just two weeks after a similar quake in the region

The 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck about six miles southeast of Borazjan in Iran's south-west early on Wednesday, with a depth of six miles experts reported

It came on the same the day Iran attacked U.S. troops with missiles and a passenger plane carrying 176 people crashed after taking off from Tehran.

It is the second earthquake to hit the region in the last two weeks after a 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit the same area near the power plant on December 26.

Reports Monday that the U.S. planned to withdraw forces from Iraq were turned on their heads hours later when U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper told reporters there were no plans to pull up stakes.

'There's been no decision whatsoever to leave Iraq, period' Esper said, adding that he and his staff were 'trying to figure out' the meaning of a letter signed by a brigadier general, which suggested the opposite.

'There are no plans to leave,' he emphasized, suggesting discussion of a massive troop movement may just be a signal that forces are being repositioned inside Iraq's borders.

The U.S. military appeared to inform its counterparts in Baghdad on Monday that it was preparing for 'movement out of Iraq,' a day after the Iraqi parliament urged the government in a non-binding resolution to oust foreign troops.

The head of the U.S. military's Task Force Iraq, Brigadier General William Seely, sent a letter to the head of Iraq's joint operations command, a copy of which made the rounds on Twitter almost immediately.

'Sir, in deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister, [the coalition] will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement,' Seely wrote. He added: 'We respect your sovereign decision to order our departure.'

President Donald Trump said Sunday aboard Air Force One that troops would not leave Iraq unless the country compensated the U.S. for the costs associated with building and maintaining military facilities there.

'We have a very extraordinarily expensive air base that's there. It cost billions of dollars to build. Long before my time,' he said. 'We're not leaving unless they pay us back for it.'

'We will charge them sanctions like they've never seen before ever. It'll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame,' he warned.

Yet Iraqi premier Adel Abdel Mahdi met with the U.S. Ambassador Matthew Tueller on Monday, telling him it was 'necessary to work together to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq.

On Sunday, Iraq's parliament voted in favor of the Baghdad government rescinding its permission for all foreign troops to remain in the country.

That came in reaction to a U.S. precision drone strike on Baghdad that killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and top Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, among others.

The resulting chaos has made some in Iraq fear a new civil war, and drew millions to crowd streets in Tehran to see Soleimani's coffin paraded through the city.

Gen. Seely wrote on Monday in order to reposition thousands of troops elsewhere, 'Coalition Forces are required to take certain measures to ensure that the movement out of Iraq is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.'

The letter was signed by a U.S. official on Pentagon letterhead, making it unclear whether it applied to forces from the 76 countries which make up the international coalition.

An Iraqi defense official confirmed the letter was real and had been delivered.

In Washington, a Pentagon spokesman said he could not immediately confirm its authenticity. Spokespersons with Operation Inherent Resolve, the formal name for the military operatiojn in Iraq, were not available for comment.

But officials said helicopters would be traveling in and around the Green Zone as part of the preparations.

Reporters could hear helicopters flying low over Baghdad throughout the night on Monday.

Ending America's 17-year military presence in Iraq is a risky undertaking for the country.

Iraq was barely starting to recover from a devastating four-year war against ISIS when the mass uprising against the country's ruling elite erupted on Oct. 1, forcing the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi two months later. He hasn't been replaced.

A pullout of U.S. troops could cripple the fight against ISIS militants and allow the extremists to make a comeback.

Militants affiliated with ISIS routinely carry out attacks in northern and western Iraq, hiding out in rugged desert and mountainous areas. Iraqi forces rely on the U.S. for logistics and weapons in pursuing them.

An American withdrawal could also enable Iran to deepen its influence in Iraq, which like Iran is a majority Shiite country.

'It is not that simple,' Lebanese political analyst Ibrahim Bayram said. 'This will increase the complications inside Iraq, the conflicts and contradictions ... and the clash, both political and non-political, between the Iranians and Americans.'

Iran today announced it will no longer abide by any of the limits on its uranium enrichment programme set by the 2015 nuclear deal.

The announcement came as tensions with the United States soared after the assassination of Major-General Qassem Soleimani in a US drone strike on his convoy at Baghdad airport on Friday.

The move marked the Islamic Republic’s fifth reduction in its nuclear commitments, saying today it will forego the ‘limit on the number of centrifuges’.

Iran’s 2015 nuclear agreement with the United Nations Security Council’s five permanent members – Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States – plus Germany has been hanging by a thread since the US withdrew unilaterally from two years ago.

European countries have been pushing for talks with Iran to salvage the nuclear deal and the EU has invited Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif to Brussels for talks.

‘Iran’s nuclear programme no longer faces any limitation in the operational field’, the Iranian government said in a statement on Sunday night.

As the sun rose over Baghdad airport, daylight revealed the twisted remains of one of the vehicles the men had been travelling in. In total, a US drone fired four missiles that struck a convoy of cars, killing the two men and their entourage.

Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force unit, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Iran-backed Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), were among those killed in the attack at Baghdad International Airport early Friday morning.

Republicans have praised Trump for his actions saying he acted in the best interest of American lives while Democrats have criticized Trump's actions saying more Americans lives have been put in danger by the action as Iran will surely retaliate.

Soleimani's killing is significant as he is regarded as a hero in Iran and the Iranian government has declared three days of mourning for the killed general.

The US has placed it's Baghdad Embassy on shutdown and ordered Americans in Iraq to evacuate Iraq.

Heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua has opened up on his desire to fight this deadly boxer in 2020.

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has revealed his intention to fight Oleksandr Usyk in 2020.

Usyk, who unified the entire cruiserweight division in 2020, is the WBO’s mandatory challenger to Joshua.

At the same time, Kubrat Pulev is the IBF’s mandatory challenger to Joshua’s title.

At the moment, both sanctioning organisations have ordered Joshua to meet his obligation.

But he can’t face both boxers at once.

Pulev is currently the favourite to land Joshua in the coming months, with Usyk possibly to follow in the fall.

Joshua looks forward to the scenario of facing Usyk in the ring.

“A very credible opponent. When I’m trying to build my record, I want opponents like Usyk to say that I’ve defeated them. He uses his feet very well, and positions his hands well. You can’t hit him because his feet move so well. If you do manage to catch him, (the punches) are brushing off the gloves,” Joshua told Sky Sports.

“What I’d do, as I have done already, is study him – from his footwork, his hand positioning, to his openings. Then I’d go to people who have faced him and find out information on how to defeat him.

“Usyk is a great cruiserweight, the undisputed cruiserweight champion, who has decided to move up to heavyweight to mix it with the big boys. He’s still exploring the division but he wants a piece of the big pie – he’s more than welcome to try to take this out of my hands.”

While Joshua is taking on Pulev, Usyk could very well face Derek Chisora. Usyk made his heavyweight debut last year with a stoppage time win over late replacement, Chazz Withwerspoon.

Iraq’s state television said the attack took place along Taji Road north of the capital Baghdad.

A new US airstrike targeting a commander of Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitary forces has instead killed at least six people early on Saturday, according to Al Jazeera.

This happened a day after an airstrike attack ordered by US President Donald Trump killed top Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani.

Al Jazeera reports that Iraq’s state television said the attack took place along Taji Road north of the capital Baghdad.

Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), denied that a senior commander was in the convoy.

Al Jazeera reports that at least six people, including medics, were killed in the latest raid while three other people were critically wounded.

Taji Road, where the attack took place, leads to a base belonging to non-US coalition forces, including British and Italian troops, according to Al Jazeera’s Osama Bin Javaid, reporting from Baghdad.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent added that a group of vehicles was hit.

“The recent attacks on U.S. targets in Iraq, including rocket strikes that killed an American and injured four American servicemen very badly, as well as a violent assault on our embassy in Baghdad, were carried out at the direction of Soleimani.“Soleimani made the death of innocent people his sick passion, contributing to terrorist plots as far away as New Delhi and London”, Trump said.He said the late military general had been carrying out acts of terror to destabilise the Middle East for the last 20 years.“Just recently, Soleimani led the brutal repression of protestors in Iran, where more than a thousand innocent civilians were tortured and killed by their own government.“We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war.“I have deep respect for the Iranian people.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there is tension in the Gulf over the killing, with Iran vowing “severe revenge” on those responsible. Iran’s National Security Council has also vowed to effect “harsh vengeance” on the U.S. for the killing, the BBC reports.

“The U.S. regime will be responsible for the consequences of this criminal adventurism.“This was the biggest US strategic blunder in the West Asia region, and America will not easily escape its consequences,” BBC quoted the council as saying in a statement.

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has urged American citizens to “depart Iraq immediately” following the airstrike. U.S. officials said thousands of additional troops would be deployed to the Middle East as a precaution. World leaders, including UN Secretary General António Guterres, have called for restraint by all parties to prevent another war in the region.

This was sandwiched in among a number of different subjects covering what’s happening in the world of content creators. The good news is that while PewDiePie is quitting YouTube, it will only be for a short break.

The influencer isn’t breaking away from the platform entirely or ending his channel, which has grown to be one of the biggest ever.

Instead, PewDiePie will be taking a short break in early 2020, which is something notoriously difficult for content creators to do.

Just a short break without videos can see influencers and streamers lose a lot of followers, harming their bottom line.

A winning formula and daily schedule of videos can prove very profitable for the top stars of YouTube.

But it also comes associated with a fatigue factor that can be hard to handle over extended periods.

And it appears this is partly the reason why PewDiePie will be stepping away from his channel for a time in 2020.

"I am taking a break from YouTube next year," he told his fans in a recent PewNews video.

"I wanted to say it in advance because I made up my mind.

"I'm tired. I'm feeling very tired. I don't know if you can tell. Just so you know, early next year I'll be away for a little while. I'll explain that later but I wanted to give a heads up," he explained.

The phrasing confirms that this won’t be a definite break for PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg.

Pewdiepie shared a few hints during 2019 regarding an extended break, telling fans back in August: "I do think it would be good for me to take a break at some point.

“It would be nice to not have YouTube in my brain for the first time in 10 years."

Due to the fact that social media platform allow all it users to access and post anything, sometimes people end up saying things they don’t mean or say things without thinking about how it might affect the person reading it. Instagram seems to have a new feature that could give you some pause.

Instagram today announced it’s rolling out a new feature in its ongoing attempt to curb bullying, the new warning tool is call AI(Artificial intelligence Instagram) that will warn users before they post a potentially offensive caption with their posts with comment as well. When it does, as you can see in the screenshot above, it will warn users that this might be considered to be a bad idea and that they should consider editing it.

According to Instagram, “Today, when someone writes a caption for a feed post and our AI detects the caption as potentially offensive, they will receive a prompt informing them that their caption is similar to those reported for bullying. They will have the opportunity to edit their caption before it’s posted. “

However, users can still go ahead and post it if they want, but at the very least Instagram is giving users the opportunity to reconsider some of their choices. Whether or not users take the company up on it is a different story, although the company does note that so far, the results have been promising.

A new leak suggests the Galaxy S11+, the biggest of the three Galaxy S11 models that Samsung will launch next year, will not have a flashy penta-camera setup at the back. Twitter leakster Ice universe has published an image that shows three vertically laid cameras along with speculation that the three camera sensors should be accompanied by an LED flash and a 3D ToF camera.

It’s worth mentioning that a quad camera setup for the Galaxy S11+ makes more sense. While leaked 360-degree renders of the S11+ had shown what looked like five rear cameras arranged in an X pattern, there have been no reports, leaks, or rumors telling us what the fifth camera will do. It’s possible the renders had simply mistaken the two sensors that make up a single ToF camera to be two actual cameras.

ToF cameras have a transmitter module and a receiver module, which is why the Galaxy S10 5G has three holes in the front despite having just dual front cameras – a regular selfie camera and a ToF camera. The Galaxy Note 10+ has five camera sensors at the back as well, with two of them belonging to the ToF camera, and it’s likely the Galaxy S11+ (and the regular Galaxy S11) will have the same number of cameras.

While the number of cameras might not change, the Galaxy S11 will bring a substantial upgrade in the camera specs. The primary rear camera is expected to be a 108MP lens and the telephoto camera is expected to be capable of 5x zoom. The former is said to be a special sensor Samsung is designing exclusively for the Galaxy S11 series, and that sensor will also be seen on the Galaxy Fold 2 alongside the 5x telephoto camera.

The side key (a.k.a. power button) on the Galaxy Note 10 series and Galaxy Fold offers a few customization options. Users can set this physical button to react in different ways to both long presses and double presses.

First, open Settings and access Advanced Features. This is the same menu where you can find Bixby Routines, Motions and Gestures, and other One UI features we’ve covered previously. Once in Advanced Features, tap Side key.

Choosing a function for double-pressing the side key

Side key is split between two main functions, namely Double press, and Press and hold. You can choose between quick launching the Camera app, launching Bixby, or opening a custom app when double-pressing the side key. Tap the cogwheel icon to select an app. Alternatively, you can tap the toggle and turn off the double-press function altogether.


NOTE: Double-pressing the side key to quick-launch the Camera works even if your phone is locked, unlike Open Bixby and Open app, both of which require you to unlock your phone before you can use them.

Choosing a function for long-pressing the side key

As for pressing and holding the side key, you can choose between waking up Bixby or summoning the classic power off menu. Normally, Galaxy devices running One UI 1.5 have the power off and restart options hidden behind the small power icon inside the quick toggle area, but you can revert to a more conventional setup as long as you’re willing to give up on the Wake Bixby feature. And we suspect that many users won’t have an issue with that.

The family and friends of Juice Wrld have paid their respects to the late rapper at his funeral in Illinois.

An open-casket funeral was held on Friday at Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Harvey around 45 minutes south of Chicago, the rapper’s hometown.

Fans held a separate memorial for the musician at Cloud Gate, better known as the Bean, in downtown Chicago.

The search of luggage aboard the jet yielded 70 pounds – or 41 ‘vacuum-sealed’ bags – of marijuana and six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, which contains opioids

No drug charges are likely against any of the people on board the flight. The marijuana and codeine were found in suitcases that didn’t have name tags on them

Juice Wrld, whose real name was Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered a seizure last Sunday morning, likely as a result of swallowing a number of prescription pills shortly after landing at Chicago’s Midway Airport.

Police sources told TMZ it appeared that the rapper had taken the pills in an attempt to hide them from feds searching the plane.

The FBI ended up finding 70 pounds of marijuana vacuum-packed into sealed bags, placed in several suitcases.

They also found six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, two 9 mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and metal-piercing bullets in Higgins’ and his entourage’s luggage, according to law enforcement sources reports the Chicago Tribune.

At the rapper’s funeral, his mother, Carmella Wallace, paid tribute to her son along with his siblings and grandmother also spoke during the ceremony to give eulogies.

‘My dear son Jarad, God trusted me to raise you and I poured all I had into you as the Lord guided me. We were inseparable and even though you left home early, we were always in each other’s hearts and always had a special bond,’ Carmella wrote in the accompanying program.

”We were always overjoyed to see each other, and you still called me ‘mommy’ as you hugged and kissed me when you saw me,’ she continued. ‘Your love was pure and innocent, and your heart was genuine. You truly cared about people and wanted to make the world a better place. I am going to miss you dearly. Rest in peace my dear one; mommy loves you.’

The program also included multiple black-and-white portraits of the 21-year-old, along with photo collages of friends, colleagues and family.
