That is what you wished happened, but that is not what happened.

You mean Conte would leave Euro work and scouting of Spain and Germany, to study game tapes of Ake? Where they do that at? grin

As you can see, Italy is very well drilled to the minute detail in this tournament - that's not because Conte is spending his time studying Chelsea youth players!!!

Tell me how long it takes to study 2 hour tapes of 50 players on loan. You must be joking if you think Conte is studying and making judgements on the first team squad and development squad whilst juggling managing Italy.

This is the kind of situation where the TD makes recommendation to the first team coach.

Weren't you the one who showed us Emenalos job profile showing us he is in charge of development squad? Is Conte's job title not "first team coach": - actually, the first time a Chelsea manager has had his job role reduced to "First team coach" only.

So we should go looking for "First team coach" who hasn't started work yet to blame him for a wrong decision on a "development" player?

Emenalo decided to send the boy on one extra year. No ifs, and, or but. Conte may know about it BUT IS IN NO POSITION to know the worth of the player having just walked in the door. Emenalo knows the player, Conte does not.

This is where we know we have a stewpid TD because Rahman is the one who needs extra year decades. What are you sending a nigga on loan for when he is better than all your current options?

Infact Chelsea quoted Watford £10m to sell the boy outright.
You may be right or you may be wrong.

I read an interview with Ake discussing his promotion from the u21s to the first team. He said that he was playing and training hard with the first team but could not get a chance. He said that he went up to Mourinho to ask why he wasn't getting a chance in the first team, but Jose said he had to wait for his chance....shortly after, he was sent on loan.

This story does not match up with the narrative of the 'stewpid TD' failing to recommend the talent at the club to the manager. He was clearly revommend to Jose.

Eddie Howe's interview today was quite interesting. He explains that Bournemouth signed Ake due to his versatility. He highlights the fact that Ake played 28 games at LB for Watford, but points out that Ake's best position is in central midfield.

This could suggest that the boy has been sent out to develop further as a midfielder. Considering that we are definitely in the market for midfielders, it's very possible that Conte has already evaluated him and found him wanting - Afterall, why would Conte be chasing the likes of Naingollan if he hadn't already evaluated the quality of midfielders already on ground?

Anyway, let's leave it here abeg. I have no appetite for another long debate tonight.

You may very well be right sef, so....

No. The development squad is strictly the remit of the TD in any club in the world.

Some of us were hoping that the likes of Ake and MVG stick around long enough for preseason so Conte can see them, assess them and make a decision on them. The decision has been taken out of his hands.

Conte is sitting in his hotel room somewhere prepping for Germany match, and all he would know about this is that Chelsea has one small boy on loan at Watford last season and now he has been loaned to Bournemouth.

Do you think Conte can assess or know the 50+ players we have out on loan? This is where the likes of Rumennige and co show the difference between a good TD and Aba made TD. They can recognise quality in likes of Alaba, Lahm, Kroos etc from Bayern academy to let a manager know he has strong options, meanwhile Chelsea managers are working blindly with a TD who doesn't know his right from left.

If Sam Allardyce walks into Lazio today, he cannot tell you jack about one Florenzi that Lazio will have out on loan to Genoa.

Those who are with the club are guardians of the club and (should) know the players values better than anyone walking in.

The TD has essentially told us he considers Rahman to be a better player than Ake whereas some of us believe that Ake is a better player than Rahman, Mikel and can even fill a gap at LCB if Conte wants to go with a back three.

You can bet that Conte considers left-back and midfield a problem position at Chelsea, yet never once has Emenalo thought to put the clubs internal LB and CM options up as at least a squad filler consideration. Instead he is thinking how to loan them out. Obviously in his questionable judgement, he considers Rahman and Mikel better options.

Look Chelsea are not going to sign 11 new players for Conte this summer, we will only get 4 or 5. Which means the Baba Rahmans stick around in the squad when the likes of Ake could have done so.

This is shocking stewardship by Emenalo.
To me, this is just sounds like another case of commending the manager for transfers you like, while blaming Emenalo for those transfers you disagree with.

If we take at face value that Conte has not had the chance to look at the team and evaluate the squad yet, then how does he know that he needs Batshuayi? Or Naingollan?

It is important to note that other than Ake, none of the other members of the bloated loan battalion have left the club this season.

No outward loans, No outward sales. Just Ake. As of now, it looks like a specific decision was made on Ake, rather than the usual en masse dispersal of players.

So how do you know that Conte did not make the decision to let Ake go?

The answer is that you don't.

Tyrone Mings did his ACL in his first game for Bournemouth last year, and they currently have only 1 undisputed 1st choice left back in Charlie Daniels.

Bournemouth are not a feeder club. They made about 50m in revenue last year, and will be making a minimum of 45m from TV revenues alone this year.

They could have made an enquiry to CFC, details of which were forwarded on to Conte alongside scouts notes and clips in action. Conte could have looked at the info he had, and decided that maybe the boy would benefit from 1 extra year...and then sent him out.

Another thing is that Bournemouth are owned by Russian Oligarchs. Maxim Demin is Russian an also in thr Petrochemical business. They might know each other...they may be friends even. Maxim could have simply asked Roman to loan him one of his boys.

Thsee scenarios are also quite possible.

Without actually knowing the in and outside of the deals, it's impossible to say that Conte is responsible for Batshuayi and Emenalo is responsible for Akes departure.

Nobody really knows.

You are wrong. If the houses had backed him, he would have won most likely. Have you forgotten the battle against the Wildlings? With barely a hundred men, he defeated an army with giants and they were being attacked from both sides. No one had the foresight of anything.

The kid knew she had to fight for snow but still didn't want to risk her men so she gave 62. Can you see that she was actually smarter than the remaining houses?

Also, how can you call Jon a bad commander after he led the battle at the wall? He had a chance if not for Ramsay using his humanity against him.
Mate Jon Snow is a terrible commander and if you've been paying attention, you will notice that nobody seems to trust him as a leader....well, except for Tormmund and that little girl.

At Hardhome, despite the threats of the whitewalkers, despite the intervention of Tormmund who personally beat one of their leaders to death, the majority of the wildlings refused to follow him.

At Castle Black, some of his own subordinates consider him a traitor and kill him, and in the meeting where Aliser explains his logic to the members of the watch, we see that majority of the nights watch agree with his killing. Again, Jon has to rely on Tormmund to prevail on the members of the watch so that he could take his revenge.

When it came to the time to fight the Boltons, the major lords refused to trust him. Sansa refused to trust him. Tormmund had to remind the remaining wildlings about how Jon had to literrally die for them. Even the Lyanna had to be talked into backing Jon by Davos!

It is important to note up until the battle of the bastards, literally nobody trusts in Jon as a leader. Tormmund is loyal to Jon as friend and not as a leader. Tormmund has described himself as not being clever, and was ignorant of battle tactics as seen during the discussion with Jon and Davos.

Davos himself stressed how important it was to stick to the plan. Sansa told him that Ramsay would act in the way he did.

We can see that at almost every stage of his journey, Jon's judgement has (rightly)been questioned by many of the characters he interacts with. Even his own babe called him an Olodo.

So this is exactly why, I'm not judging Jon in hindsight. Everybody knew he would fuckup. This guy has constantly and consistently been one of the most idiotic characters in the GOT universe. Which is why I find it exceptionally galling that none of the Nothern Lords noticed this post-BoB

You seem to be saying the same thing, and based on hindsight. You're no longer asking why they follow young leaders, but why they followed Jon. It was a gamble.
My point is actually not based on hindsight at all.

The Lords of the North had the foresight to realise that Jon Snow was going to lose to the Boltons, and decide to preserve the lives of their men by abstaining.

Sansa had the foresight to know that Jon would lose, and deliberately refused to enlist her forces under his leadership.

The only person to keep faith with him was a child who naturally isn't mature enough to fully understand the consequences of enlisting her men in a war they couldn't win.

This bit is particularly crucial because they all knew that this guy didn't have the men, the parentage or the acumen to take on the warden of thr north(by royal decree no less)

So what happened?

They fought, Jon lost, and was rescued by forces who he had neither summoned, nor had under control.

Does it sound logical that when he was shouting 'we fought, we won etc', that not a single person there would point out that he actually had to be rescued from his folly?

So Baelish just sat down there and let Jon share the credit, especially when littlefinger didn't even come to the battle for Jon?

my point has been simple, Jon has been making some pretty bad decisions, and his only backer up until ep 10 was a child....so why has no one called them out on this? cheesy

2.They all swore alliegance to house stark and still refused d call, she didnt honor makes them lesser men, before her till they redeem themselves, sense also cos her specific words to them about what d boltons did to them still they didnt rise up above them is enough to make dem meek.

Jon didnt win the battle, Vale knights did.
Jon has no men, the Vale boys do.

It makes no sense that the lords of the north would trust their men to a reckless commander who had to be rescued by another house.

I mean, if even Sansa can't trust the dullard, how on earth are the nothern lords so eager to trust him...especially after a disastrous battle?

Mitchy is good, maybe not the price, but then, you can't blame Chelsea for splashing out massive.

There are inferences that Crystal Palace had £31mil agreed for the ninja and Spurs had already submitted 30milla, it was always going to be a competition hence we acted with ruthless efficiency.

If we stick to a 4-2-3-1, this ninja has got no problem riding the bench whilst giving Costa reasons to stay ruthless. If we eventually switch to a 2-man front-line, this ninja is equally good to start.

Moreover, this deal is much more better than the reported
£65mil requested for Lukaku.
I'm not saying we should sign Lukaku (though if we did I would be ecstatic)

I only compared him to Lukaku because they are of a similar age, playing a similar position, in the same team.

To me, 33m is too much to spend on benchwarmer. The likely possibilities are that Costa is on his way out, and we have decided to put our faith in a young largely untested striker , OR, that we're moving to a 2 striker system, which we don't have the right personnel to implement properly.

When you consider that this guy was signed by Marseille for just 4.5m pounds less than 2 years ago, I can't help feeling that we've been scammed....

Most definitely.

It makes absolutely no sense at all, that the fighting men of Bear island, and their captain should entrust their lives into the hands of a 10 year old who doesn't even know what battle is....regardless of any obligations to honour, creed etc.

Like I keep pointing out to people, her decision to back Jon snow was a disaster..and I don't believe it's a coincidence that it was a child who sent her men to their death while the older mature Lords wisely abstained.

The older Lords were all very specific about their motives: which was to preserve the lives of their men.

Whereas this child put some bullshit ideology over the lives of 62 men who had no say in the matter.

I think thar people are so happy to have Jon Snow in the driving seat for S7 that they failed to ask several questions.

1. What leverage does Jon Snow have? He's still a bastard(his true parentage has not been revealed to the North), he's known to be tactically inept in military battles, and more importantly....HE HAS PRACTICALLY NO MEN LEFT.

2. How is it that when that gobby child was going on and on about the king in the north, blah blah, nobody pointed out the points raised in Q1 to her?

3. More pertinently, how did no one point out that it was the Knights of the Vale who won the battle against the boltons, and thus them who should be at the heart of trophies new Nothern coalition ?

That scene made zero sense to me. I cannot pledge my fighting men to a general who has no rank, no men, and no tactical acumen...and this was why I expected at least one lord to rise up and educate that loudmouthed girl and her no-nothing oga.

Mitchy for 33m makes no sense to me.

He's not particularly prolific. He can't even displace his age mate Lukaku at Belgium, so I'm not convinced that he can displace Costa.

Yet you can't spend 33m on a striker and not play him, so I guess a switch to a two striker formation is on the cards.

England had a league as far back as the 50s or 60s. You can go online and easily find the league tables of those seasons but Brazil didn't have a league. I can show you the English league table of 1889 or 1962; you can find it yourself on Wikipedia cheesy

Brazil actually has an interesting system where they have a National League and multiple State Leagues and teams will usually compete in both National and State leagues simultaneously during the season.

The Campeonato Paulista is a League now and was a league back in the 60s....and Pele won it.

That's tact my friend. The fact that her people followed her without questions showed this is a little girl that has leadership qualities in her.
It takes something special for the words from a child's mouth to sway the minds of old men
This exactly the point.

She made a decision that would turn out to be a poor one. She put her men under the leadership of an emotional and tactically indisciplined leader in Jon Snow.

If it wasn't for the Knights of the Vale, Jon wouldnt be alive today, and all the men would be dead! It's not leadership qualities that her poor men are following, they are obliged to maintain that master/servant relationship...and I just dont understand why.
