jmoore:
Notice the clear difference.

USA went after the founder, while Nigeria is after the workers.

You cannot arrest and prosecute a bank cashier for the actions of a banking institution, you should hold the CEO liable.

The stubborn ignorance of NSA, EFCC, FIRS and other agencies involved in the arrest and prosecution of the binance staff will disgrace Nigeria.

I am laughing at their useless propaganda that the one that escaped has been arrested and will be extradited.

It is only in Nigeria that a police will arrest a relative of a suspect because they could not find the suspect. They used same stupid mindset to kidnap the binance staff.

You really don’t know what’s going on. US went after him because at the time the crime was committed CZ was the CEO of Binance. He resigned in 2022 so how do you expect Nigeria to go after him.

A Free Zone is a geographically designated area deemed to be outside the customs territory within which national regulations to production and trade, the refinery is located in the free zone.

You have it mixed up, it’s because the refinery is located in a free zone that’s why there wouldn’t be any duties on the goods.

Free trade zones are tax and duty free (usually).

Lol. You will learn.

In trading, there's a time you take profit and move on. That's similar to what the bank is saying.

Naira has crashed enough. With the new policies in place, the rebound is near our door step.

Like they said, don't buy the dollar to speculate - only dumb money will buy the dollar now; the meat of the move is done. Don't play!

After announcing last week that they'd use over 30bn dollars stashed in various banks to safe the free fall of naira, the money which the CBN later debunked,, a lot of people, including politicians have besieged banks and withdrawn all their dollars.

From time immemorial, any news from the federal government coffers which were carried by major newspapers were later debunked later became real. I can't be mentioning scenarios. The most recent one was the electricity tariff which they first debunked. Now, its become a reality. Maybe the cbn had envisaged that people would react swiftly and pack all their dollars before they implement the policy, they now debunked it. Nigerians are wiser than they think. How can you convert usd to naira at a rate you would now dictate to the owners of those dollars?

The politicians aren't left out today among those who thronged banks and took their dollars away. That's the reason dollar rate fell since last Saturday. I bought dollar at 1407 today, imagine. Early last week it was sold above 1,500. Dollar don yapa now and its estimated to fall further.

All these international banks will be hardest hit and that's why the standard chartered man was shouting 😃. A lot of people must have emptied their dollar vaults today.

Sorry to say but your analysis is flawed fundamentally and I wouldn’t give you my reasons why.

Your point is that of a layman who doesn’t adequately grasp the dealings of the financial market.

For the deadline given ... I would want to believe same ... if they are normal. But I have my doubts.... since normally .... such rehabilitation of schools usually take at 5he end of the school year. .. when schools are closed ... not when they are in session.

Yh I agree with you that the best time to conduct the rehabilitation would be outside the school term period.

Going from the article, a May deadline would mean all the necessary operations have been put in place. Atleast that’s what I hope, Because a normal bidding process takes on the average of 1-3 months depending on the project scale.

Hmmm..... all this completed by May. Don't they have to do an assessment? ... what needs to be done in each school? ... furniture needed ... equipment ... etc. .... list the requirements. .... set a date for contractors to bid ... then select the contractors who will take some time to get materials ... equipment and skilled workers before finally starting to work. All thus to start ... and complete by May.

Rehabilitation is different from a needs assessment, Everything needs to be brought to standard.

I would also believe they would have conducted the bidding exercise, either competitive or closed bidding before this news got to us.

More useless than the Police.

Anyone can come in and do anyhow in Nigeria, and all their neighbours would know except the Intelligence services.

Little wonder they cannot use Intelligence to defeat boko haram, IPOB-UGM, and the many terrorist bandits.

What a national shame.

Whoever is handling any of the Intelligence units/services in Ibadan/Oyo State should be fired immediately.

Sorry to say, but we are part of the intelligence service as well due to majority of intel gathered is based off tip offs. You see your Neighbour committing a crime and you deliberately keep quiet, when kasala burst you insult the government. It shouldn’t be like that.

Dangote refinery cannot cater for the needs of Nigerians.we consume 32million litres of PMS everyday not to mention AGO, they will still import to bridge the gap until all the nations refineries will start producing at full capacity.
.

It will cater or be adequately enough by my calculations, 350k bpd x 170 litres of refined petroleum products per barrel, do the maths.

This is all on the basis that there is constant supply of crude.

At full capacity of 650k, we would have enough to flood the country with refined petroleum products and even still export for forex. With or without the gov owned refineries.

Even without the increment in min wage, there's already inflation that is nearing supposed hyperinflation. It's bad already.

Simple economics also tells you what to expect when purchasing power is lost, there'll be complete collapse of the system

And you are supporting my point. Adding to the already ridiculous inflation rate is ludicrous. Bastardizing the economy any further to me is not the best approach in solving the issues of the day. But I’m also highly sympathetic to the plights of the common man.

To be honest I don’t see any bad answer in this kind of issue, just advantages and disadvantages.

Like I said, time will tell. We just have to be a bit more patient.
Politics / Re: President Tinubu Declares Additional ₦‎25,000 Pay For Low-Grade Workers by ninetiethcrown7(m): 11:06am On Oct 01, 2023
chanceux:
Make it make sense for me...

Why not just review the min wage to a sustainable threshold considering the inflation and tax Nigerians are experiencing.

Secondly, who are these "low grade" workers as defined by the income? What happens after the 6months?

How many people are even earning salaries, not to mention benefiting from an additional 25k? Why not create jobs in manufacturing industries which is the easiest area to create jobs for low skilled workers and reduce the over 50% unemployment rate.

I feel these guys just put out random policies because it sounds right in their mouth without a plan.
In the next 6 months, they'll come out to claim they've spent "billions" providing financial aid to "poor Nigerians" yet we don't know a single person that received this money neither did we receive it ourselves just like their cash transfer project.

I support an increase in minimum wage for the average worker, however you also need to factor into consideration that any massive wage increase without economic growth would still lead to hyperinflation. It’s simple econs.

Which would in turn bring us back to square one. I’d want to believe they have done the stats on how the 25k increase would affect the economy.

Anyways time would tell.

Connection?!! As what? The publisher or editor or host?
His only Connection is being a brother to the site publisher!! Does being related to a criminal make one liable for his crimes? The guy in question doesn't work for reportera in any guise!!
Sowore is still roaming free!!
There's one law for the weak and another for the connected in this our "demoncrazy"

Like I said all the facts on this are not available so I wouldn’t say more than what has been reported.

Also, Sahara reporters are not the main source of the allegations, it was reportera and I believe they would have credited them before posting.

As you should know defamation cases are mainly tied to the original source and not secondary sources. The issue I would see Sahara reporter shaving is if they didn’t credit reportera on it.
Politics / Re: Police Parades Chike Ibezim Arrested For Cyberstalking by ninetiethcrown7(m): 7:50pm On Sep 09, 2023
Kukutenla:

Exactly!! So do you detain someone for weeks and charge him to court based on circumstantial evidence? You already said he can simply say he didn't send the post but left his phone with an acquaintance who used his phone. That absolves him off guilt almost immediately.
Meanwhile, the owners and publishers of the news site are known and the cop is not going after them but harassing a possible bystander

I agree with you to the point of unlawful detainment but that’s where it ends.

He cannot simply state he was innocent without providing evidence to that effect which is tendered in court. Police have finished investigation and they are of the opinion that he is liable, court is only next solution.

Lastly, they have already established his connection to the outlet so I don’t know why that is still an issue.
Politics / Re: Police Parades Chike Ibezim Arrested For Cyberstalking by ninetiethcrown7(m): 10:59am On Sep 09, 2023
Kukutenla:

And how do you prove he did cybercrime when the defamation was carried out by a news site called reportera.
The police are claiming the post was sent from his phone. How does that make him liable?

That’s not left for me to prove without the facts, but based on what has been reported, they have linked him to the media outlet reportera as a stakeholder.

But you just said it, the post was allegedly sent from his phone, isn’t that liability. Now the onus is on him to prove that he did not send that post or his phone was stolen etc.

1. Defamation is a civil case.
2. Even if arrested, he should be charged in 48hrs..
3. Based on the police statement, that the statement was sent from his phone does not imply that he was the sender moreso the site that posted it has an owner

Yes defamation is civil, however cyberstalking is a crime under the cybercrime act 2015.

Zelensky is going to cost the lives of more of his people just to please the American government in its own proxy war against Russia. He has been close to a peace deal with Russia several times before uncle Sam whispered in his ear that they don’t like the terms of the potential agreement then made him end talks and back to square one.

All this while it’s his people dying and suffering. He needs to understand one thing; US will NEVER directly attack Russia. Russia will NEVER directly attack US. Both are just going to turn his country into another proxy war battleground in the never ending USA vs Russia d!ck measuring contest until the whole place is reduced to rubble like exactly what happened in the Vietnam war.

That clown zelenski better start thinking for himself and do what’s right by his people not by Uncle Sam.

Haha and you were there when Uncle Sam was whispering into zelensky’s ear. In negotiations you never accept the first offer. That’s the golden rule.
Besides why would zelensky accept the peace deal now when at the moment they are leading the war.

And yet zelensky’s people have not yet forsaken him, I can’t say the same about Russia.

So, that fellow ( blackfire ; shouts out to him!) was right, who said that this is not progress, but another corner into destruction.

Nigeria is really spiritually in a Babylon system: where truth, morals, justice, fear of God and virtues are dying, and evil continues to be well-fed put on flesh, with nice adornments.

Such countries , their end is usually war and destruction.

nope it isnt, it is one of the monetary aspects not the main one. you have different monetary aspects like sponsorships, deals, adverts, broadcast rights, ticket selling and so many other revenue streams from it. this initiative should be lauded, kudos to lagos state for threading the path.

Even if he steps down, wouldn't the primaries be rerun?

Would the same people who voted for him have voted for Lawan?

Can the votes given to Machina simply be automatically transferred to Lawan who never ran for election?

What of the aspirant who came second, shouldn't he or she have the right of first refusal?

It's not only an illegality, it's illogical and nonsensical.

apparently machina was the only candidate on the ballot for the yobe apc north primaries, there was no other candidate.

there is lowkey rumour that there was a deal struck before the primaries that machina was standing in place for lawan, reason why he won the election unopposed. morally, you might see why machina should step down, but in the end, the game is the game. sha lets be watching because it never end.
