Nnaabros: Actually there's no longer anything shameful in being broke in Naija. Almost everyone is broke and living from hand to mouth. If you don't have money, don't be ashamed to admit it. The country is broke.
It is this shame of being broke that drives some people into extreme acts just to make it big.
The economy is harsh. Even industries are packing up. If you're not financially buoyant, there's nothing to be ashamed about. Just keep doing your best and hope things turn out well.
Stop shaming people for being broke in a country that is one of the poorest in the world, and over half of its population live below the poverty line.
Are you even rich yourself? The force is with you on this comment.

Nigerians are just complicated , if atiku eventually wins and did not meet expectations of Nigerians.. And lai Mohammed decide to be president contesting against atiku for second term ,you will see Nigerians in full support of lai Mohammed forgetting they bad mouthed him years ago...
Moral of this story is , Nigerians are puppet See, Nigerians might be puppets but in the end it is good for democracy. We vote atiku in next year if he fcks up we kick him in 4 years. It is nobodies birth right to sit on the throne for 8 years when they haven't shown any accomplishments |

AZeD1: You are a special kind of dull person. From your analogy, the farmer produced an apple before he got paid, he wasn't given the money first in the hope that he would produce something.
Money isn't made from air, so for the government to increase salary, it first has to source the money from somewhere. Now a smart person would know that the last budget was partly funded by loans and any increase to the budget without an increase in productivity means an increase in borrowing which comes with its own costs.
At 18k, close to 25 out of 36 states couldn't pay salaries what do you think would happen to states that can't pay the 18k when it becomes 30k? Hope you know the federal government spends about 240billion (670million USD) naira on security votes which are completely unaccounted for. There's money but corruption reigns SUPREME! There is quite a large sum of unaccounted transactions that go on behind our noses, and until those transactions become transparent will you really know how much money there is in this country. My thoughts, no insult. |

Bunmijanet25: Good morning nairalanders, I am new here and I want you to advise me. I am 19 years and I haven't being asked out before even though some said they love me. This has reduce my self-esteem when it comes to guys issue that I normally do crazy things to get their attention but at the end they don't even notice me; some of them do take advantage of me. I have a guy who was my childhood friend; he asked me out on fb and we do chat on whatsapp too. I think I am just plan B to him because he has only called me once and even when my phone got spoilt and I wasn't online for sometimes he still didn't call me. I am in 2nd year, I haven't been asked by guys to be friends with them except my coursemates. How can I stop having these thoughts that 'I am not destined for any guy' and build my self esteem so that I will concentrate fully for my studies. Thanks See that's the thing, concentrate fully on your studies and you wouldn't be having thoughts about your self esteem. In the alternative. If you still want to know why no guy has asked you out, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself are you hot enough in comparison with the other girls in your school who are being chased by guys. If not, then put a plan in motion to become someone who would be chased around. But it ain't gonna be easy. |

Its Not every time I want to hang out with my friends that we would go to a lounge or a restaurant or stay at home. Sometimes you need a change of scene, and you want to enjoy yourself. There is no black and white when it comes to assessing whether having a nightlife is good or bad. It all depends on the circumstances and the reasons why you want to go clubbing. |

Chief, even I don't know what kiki has done to be awarded, but that does not mean she has not done anything. Let's just give her the benefit of the doubt. Politics › Re: Atiku Not Sincere About Restructuring, Job Creation — Sagay by ninetiethcrown7(m): 11:37am On Oct 31, 2018 |
sureheaven: It’s abysmal seeing a party of supposedly elites wetting themselves and grasping on all straws since announcement of atiku’s presidential condidacy.
Atiku is corrupt? If so, why are you telling us? Take your evidence to the efcc and let them deal with him. Atiku has thrown open the challenge on several occasions.
..if you have no evidence against Atiku, pls shut it and save us this sophomoric banters
Ur statement is bereft of common sense. Asking if Atiku is corrupt and why he’s not taken to efcc is shoes completely u are baby kid or a baby adult. U shld have directed ur question to why Atiku was busy begging OBJ whose book my watch that’s sold internationally contained pages of allegation against Atiku’s evil deed. He couldn’t sue obj for defamation of character, libel and slander rather he took pastors and imam begging for forgiveness. Aisha Buhari was alleged by PDP of having hand in halibuton scandal that she couldn’t travel to US, the woman proved her critics wrong, she traveled to US. Atiku was also alleged of same, till today he can’t step his leg in US. His counterpart Jefferson is still in prison while u are supporting him to be president in Nigeria. That Atiku isn’t probed doesn’t mean he is not a thief but because the system is weak as a result of corruption to fight big thieves like Atiku. Nonsense. We are talking about bringing facts, you are talking about media trial. If they have anything on atiku they should bring it out. As I remember in law school and university you are innocent until proven guilty. And to prove someone guilty you need evidence. Evidence neither buhari or his cohorts have. If you like take Obasanjo's my watch book to efcc and tell them the facts are there, see if you will not be slapped back to your house. (Joke). I believe you are aware of the alleged gross mismanagement of PTF by his Excellecy and his cronies.probably, you were too young to know anything about that. All I'm saying is all politicians/statesmen in Nigeria and the world at large have skeletons, and I agree to the fact that atiku is an ‘alleged’ thief but not a thief. If you want to come at me pls bring a copy of the enforced judgement of the court finding him guilty, if not please read and pass. |

Politics › Re: APC And PDP Are Fielding A Single Candidate Called Butiku, Says Ezekwesili by ninetiethcrown7(m): 4:40pm On Oct 29, 2018 |
Carlyscales: Hmm!
I understand her passion and line of reasoning. She n other well meaning Nigerians are in the ideal world but the reality is as illustrated below:
Having lived, schooled n worked in all parts of Nigeria. I can tell u that the block votes of northern n southern followers of Buhari will remain intact. Example is if u have ever tried convincing a supporter of Buhari??
But it's d vote of most Nigerians (me n u) that are fed up with Buhari n Atiku that will be divided amongst Moghalu, Sowore, Ezekwesili, Durotoye, Hashim etc
Infact how many of these mushroom political parties have any meaningful structures in d North? They should go to the North and converse for votes now( after all NW has the highest no of eligible voters naa)
Hence In this election any vote that is not for PDP, is a vote for Buhari.
Now looking at Oby, Moghalu, Sowore and others sef: They want to rule Nigeria but can't even amongst themselves get a consensus candidate for maximum impact at the pools. Even their umpire Oby is now also contesting.
No matter how good, spiritual, tongue n sweet talking u are as a young pastor no big n serious church will just call u n make u their senior pastor. U gat to start from small or their village church work d ropes, earn their trust n Work ur way up. So I strongly believe some of these young talking strong chaps should start from like Senate, HOS etc.
Y is everyone irrespective of tribe n religion hailing d choice of Peter Obi as running mate today in Nigeria. Simply that he has passed his exams as a state Gov period. He vowed by d time he's done with reforms in secondary schools in d state , many Anambrians with all money to afford private schools will have to withdraw their wards from private to secular schools due to improved standards. And that actually happened B4 he finished his second term.
So with all due respect to them none of these parties have what it takes to dislodge Buhari in 2019. Because they simply don't have d structures n people. In every nook n crannies of this nation u will find APC n PDP people. Did know that in Osun rerun election, one of d observers was describing a polling unit that's far away from d village n like 30min trek into d bush. It's that serious my dr.
They be serious n patrioticoo, with capacity as well oo. But there coming out now is foolish. Because they are still working to d benefit of Buhari indirectly.
So obviously, Atiku may not be the best candidate amidst all the political aspirants but he's d only that has what it takes to dislodge Buhari in 019
Just look at d results in Edo, Ekiti n Osun it's still PDP n APC. Even SDP that made some impact in Osun was all about Omisore than SDP. That's y when it came to selling votes he went ahead and sold to d highest bidder with any regards or respect to d natl leadership of SDP.
The ideal is that with Moghalu, Oby, Datti Ahmed etc as president n our leaders. Nigeria will turn around. But the reality is that Nigerians are not moved by ideas but by their needs n stomachs. And u can't expect more with the level of poverty in this country. Poor people are simply moved by their stomachs and so is Nigerians, a pity though.
But the way forward is simple: If Buhari n APC Know that Nigerians can reject them after 4yrs, will they be denying promises they made B4 elections n taking Nigerians for granted
So I say since the nijja politicians don't owe allegiance to any political ideologies or convictions. I say let d voters be the same(not supporting any party or candidate blindly) by changing them (party n presidents)
PDP failed we sent them packing. Now APC has failed let's booth them out n bring back PDP. If Atiku fails send him packing n bring back APC. That's how it's done in US where we borrowed ours democracy from - switching between Democrats n Republicans. If every of our politicians n party know that they can loose after 4yrs. No one will tell them to sit up n deliver good governance period. Very good write up. However the north can be split, don't forget the north itself is split into three. Being the north west, east and central. APC’s biggest stronghold in the north is the north west (predominantly Muslims) however the north-east is mixed both Christians and muslims, so is north central. Where I'm headed is this; there may be an opportunity for PDP to clinch north-central and battle north-east because of the many variables plaguing those regions. |

Sirnuel: And I have not lost anyone in PMT before. It doesn't change anything. Accidents happen every second. We are humans, and it is in our nature to hold someone responsible when things go wrong. All I am trying to say is to cut PMT some slack. PS: I am really sorry for your loss, I pray you never experience such a loss in this life time again I'm sorry, but I beg to differ. These Nigerian road transport companies are meant to be held to the highest of standard, why, because they owe a duty of care to their customers to protect their lives and property through out their fare. And in Nigeria it is common knowledge that all these transport drivers are reckless, but what have they done about it. I am not saying that the crash WOULD have been avoided but I'm saying it COULD have been avoided if the driver had taken some certain steps (however, we would never really know what happened). In short, if you cut them some slack you are creating a margin for error. And errors are not allowed when it comes human lives. |
