xana101:Wow! |
So, out of curiosity, I logged into my Uber and Bolt driver accounts. Ratings are still fresh ... 4.79 on Uber and 4.90 on Bolt. And they've not bounced me off the platforms after not driving for 11 months now. #InsideLife

radautoworks:This is impressive, to say the least. Great job, ma. |
okorotalkative:Na so. I remember one of those days. My 2005 Toyota Corolla that was on rental overneat die, come get mortuary standard AC and gbedu wey dey burst brain. I recollect one guy rider like that asking me to come and do off-line from Isolo area ... 4:00am Meetup time. I just smiled and declined. |
ofime123:The truth is, I don't think any owner wants to give out his or her car for midnight hustle. Daytime-EarlyNight hustle is already as risky as it can get. Now telling an owner, after he has invested #1.5 - #1.9 million on a tokunbo car that you will be using it for midnight jobs ... mba. "I will get back to you" is what you will keep hearing; you no go see car. My opinion, though. |
radautoworks:I see what you did there, ma. But seriously, Dru23 is one of the wisest guys on this thread. I take everything he says seriously; including the memes. |
Mjosh1000:But there is an alternate road. If you know, you know. |
chucsmoore:Very important. |
AngryIgboMan:I remember I once stated here that e-hailing driving is not a job. People removed my head. |
tojahh:My brother, OP must have sensed by now that his proposition "makes sense." |
tojahh:In fact, I want to start with the #1.5 million I've gathered to buy a tokunbo car. Happy birthday @Izzou. Many happy returns of the day! |
Babadee1900:Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to and fro. For example, Redeemed Camp to Berger took 3 hours - from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. |
I'm not you people's mate at all; y'all need to start showing me some respect when you guys mention me. Who, amongst you, can drive 275 km to and from Ibadan in 15 hours, 18 minutes? Who, amongst you, can sit in standstill traffic for 11 hours in one day?

nitigriti:(4/4) Meanwhile, rider had rated me 1-star and reported me to Uber. Eyes have seen in this hustle. |
nitigriti:(3/4) On our way to the hospital, there is nothing illiterate Olopa didn't call me. He threatened me that I had better settle him so he can find a way to settle myself and the Keke driver, if not, if he incidents the accident, Police will seize my car and will not release it until I buy Keke driver a new keke. I just kept quiet. At the hospital, I paid the bills of the injured people; then we headed off to the Police Station (Shasha). By now, a small crowd of the Keke driver's friends were following us on bike and in Kekes. All of them had not-so-nice words for me. Getting to Shasha Police Station, we met DTO fortunately. It was around 6:30p.m. and he had changed into mufti and was getting ready to go. In fact, we met him just inside the compound about to enter his vehicle and leave. Immediately he saw us, he asked illiterate Olopa what the problem was. Illiterate Olopa said there was an accident, and then wanted to start explaining. DTO hushed him. DTO turned to me and asked me what happened. I explained to him. DTO turned to Keke driver and asked him what happened. Keke driver explained basically the same thing I had explained earlier. DTO now turned to illiterate Olopa and asked him to judge the case. Illiterate Olopa went into a tirade. DTO had to hush him again. DTO: (Pointing to me) This gentleman has done nothing wrong. He braked in an emergency, which was the right thing to do. Or should he have run over the person crossing the road? DTO: (Pointing at Keke driver) Go and repair your Keke by yourself. Next time, you will know how to regulate your speed behind cars. DTO: (To everybody) Everybody should go home. There is nothing to incident in this case. Everybody was dumbfounded. Keke driver and his friends now started begging me that I should at least help my brother (Keke driver) with part payment for repairs. At all, at all, they said I should drop #15,000; that God has blessed me already. Brother ko, blother ni. I entered my car and left. |
nitigriti:(2/4) Keke driver first of all came down and grabbed me by my trousers. My rider who was sitting behind was in shock when she came down and saw the Keke on the floor with the riders scrambling out. A crowd gathered. The Keke was a crumpled mess. "Oga, you are at fault. Why did you brake suddenly? Didn't you know I was at your back?" Of course, I went to driving school. And I knew that if any vehicle impacted the rear of a vehicle I am driving, that driver is the one at fault; not me. That is why driving school instructors would tell learners to always keep a safe braking distance from the vehicle in their front in case of emergencies. But how can I explain this to a mob? First, I requested that we all wait for the traffic police at the roundabout to come so we can incident the accident. Traffic Olopa came, illiterate like that (pun intended) and decided in his almightiness that I was at fault. He became the complainant, the judge and the jury. He told me to first carry the injured people to the hospital in my car and pay for their treatment; and then I will follow him to the station so I can tell the DTO how I will repair the I said, "Ok, no problem." I got my rider a yellow cab, after which Olopa sat in front and the injured at the back of the car. Keke man, with the help of bystanders, somehow lifted the keke off the floor. Off we go to the hospital. |
nitigriti:(1/4) I remember when a rider reported me to Uber and Uber told me to go re-inspect my vehicle. It was at Akowonjo Roundabout. I came down from Dopemu bridge and took the Roundabout. Since the road was free, I was on reasonable speed. Suddenly, this chap carrying a bundle of long Aluminum window frames darted across the road. The situation became an emergency — it's either I slammed my brakes or kill somebody. I slammed my brakes. One Keke had followed behind me round the roundabout on speed. Guy man was doing bumper to bumper with me. As I slammed the brakes to stop, he didn't want to collide with my car, so he swerved out from behind me. His Keke hit my rear and tumbled. He had 4 riders in the Keke — 2 of them had not-too-serious injuries. Come and see pandemonium. |
abiolag:It won't take long, but just to fast track, go to their office. |
abiolag:A rider laid a complaint about your vehicle. |
DonJoeSneh:No oooo |
Cooladex:I remember one lady I picked from Cubana VI around 11:30pm one of those nights. She was going to somewhere around Palmgrove-Onipanu area. I started the trip and saw her destination. I loaded Google maps and we were on our way. Babe just put earpiece for ear, sat down in owner's corner and was watching a movie. Google maps took me through 3MB and then into Gbagada to enter that estate beside Mr Biggs then through the estate to Palmgrove. There was no traffic that night, so see me feeling cool and cruising. As we were about to enter the Gbagada estate, I just heard babe at the back shout "Jesus!" I was scared. I asked her what the problem was. Babe: Where are we? Me: Gbagada Babe: What are we doing in Gbagada? At 12 midnight? Me: I'm following Google maps to your destination Babe: Google maps? You were supposed to pass Apongbon and drive straight to Palmgrove, then turn in at Mr. Biggs in Palmgrove Me: Well, I didn't know that route. I just loaded Google maps and followed its directions to your destination. I didn't even know you are going to Palmgrove area. If I knew, I would have gone through Apongbon. Babe: But you should have asked nauuu ... Me: But you too what were you doing at the back that you didn't notice me climbing 3MB? What if I was a kidnapper carrying you away? Both of us soon calmed down after shouting at each other back and forth. Last last, Google maps got us to her destination. I'm sure she would have rated me 3 stars or less. |
Babadee1900:Ko le werk. Politely explain to him (her) that it would be impossible to fix your schedule every day and you don't want to end up disappointing him (her) one of those days. |
nitigriti:The first time, I got a request from one of those estates on Lekki-Epe Expressway. Google maps said I should pass one street like that, connect with Silverbird Road and enter the estate from Silverbird Road. That was how I put my head. It was rainy season, so there were puddles of water everywhere. Since its Lekki, before I put the car in a puddle, I come down and measure the depth of the puddle. I had a special dip stick I use. Come and see people staring at this emergency surveyor. The road was muddy too, so it was a constant battle not to sink the car in the mud. In fact, there was a specific instance when the car glided out of control and the bumper hit a fence! People were just staring at me like "Where is this Oga going?" Last last, I now got to one major puddle. The guys around warned me - "Oga, moto no dey pass dat place wey you wan enter. Your moto go sink." Me, stubborn Surveyor, came down with my stick to check how far. The major puddle swallowed the whole stick. The stick was the height of the car's window level. There was no way around the major puddle, this was last bus stop for me. I looked around and suddenly realized that the fence I hit earlier was actually the flood barrier to the sea! The sea was not more than 50m away from where I was. See the gate of the estate I was going to in front of me. Only the puddle separated me from Silverbird Road. I asked the people around how to get to the estate, they told me to go back to the express and turnaround into Silverbird Road. I didn't like how that sounded. I called rider and told him where I was. He had to come meet me there. |
Google maps that carried me to the sea on 2 different occasions. Google maps can be mad sometimes. |
EzekielMab:Just go to Kam Salem House at Obalende. Tell the Officers at the gate what you want to do, they will link you up with a Police Officer who will get it done for you. Processes are involved Sha. For example, you must bring sales agreement, originals of the old documents and the likes. E be like say you go do Affidavit for Court also. Also, you go roger Officers small too. |
EaRtHgUy:No oooo, I don't think so. E-hailing specs is from Tesla model S and its likes. |
Congratulations @Tojahh on your new job. In other news, I took time out to analyze InDriver app during the Christmas/New Year holidays. I'm wondering why drivers are not taking advantage of the app. From my analysis, I can work 10 hours in a day and gross #15,000 on a really slow day, #20,000 on a normal day and #25,000 on weekends. I can see the rider's pickup point, I can see the rider's destination; and I have google maps. My "grosses" are sure! |
mrjaydee:Congratulations sir! |
omorkelly:Go to Uber office, Maryland mall tomorrow morning. They will upload it themselves immediately. |
Since we are talking about bad riders and stopovers, let me narrate this experience I had with a female rider. It was Monday morning around 8:30am, and I had just dropped someone off at Marina, if I recollect well. Since there was surge in Lekki, I decided to take the alternate route to Lekki; hopefully, I will get surge trip to Mainland. Cruising through Oniru, a request came in on Uber - 1.7x. I accepted. The app showed me I was just 2 minutes away from pickup point. It was that close beside Ebeano. I entered the close, and the app notified the rider I had arrived. I called the rider immediately and she told me she was coming down immediately. 1 minute later, she came out of the apartment block carrying a laptop bag and her designers handbag. She opened the back door and threw her laptop bag on the chair. Next thing, she bellowed "Good morning sir," then closed the back door, opened the front door and sat in the passenger seat. "I'm sitting in front with you if you don't mind." I told her, "no problem." Once she sat in, she now told me that I will have to be patient with her. She's going to her office in VI, but she wants to go to Argungi area first to pick up some cash, then to any Zenith Bank branch to deposit before she will proceed to VI. I told her no problem, that the trip was on surge anyway. She then replied that she had to tell me first in case I'm not okay with her itinerary. As we were moving from one point to the other, she was chatting freely with me in between the phone calls she was making. It was obvious this was one big girl. As we chatted, I got to know she parked her car (an SUV) at home because she doesn't want to be bothered with driving in Monday morning traffic. This lady was well-behaved and well-mannered. She was time conscious too, and always thanking me for waiting for her. Eventually, about 2 hours later, she told me to drop her off at Landmark to eat breakfast. The fare came to #3,500. She gave me #5,000 and told me to keep the change. I would have rated her 7 stars if it was possible. |
