You get it wrong. There's no hardship in anything I went through. Those were conscious decisions I took in my early 20s because I wanted to be a man. I did all of those still living in my parents' house. My mates were carrying babes up and down and forming big boys in the estate. I could have done the same, my parents had cars I was driving; but I had a different mindset. Still have.
For instance, my mum told me to come collect her car and use it for Uber when she learnt I was renting a car 35,000 a week to do e-hailing. I told her no. I still did my rentals. That's the kind of person I am.

So, when you say rise above the level where I will stop worrying about uber", I just don't understand what you mean. Uber makes things happen for me, therefore I get worried when that part of me is being threatened. You got a job and quit uber, some have better jobs and still do uber. That's the difference.
I understand the "e-hailing as a side hustle" argument.
But what if I tell you there are better side hustles? For example, I know a guy who makes $650 every month salary from his side hustle. I can share screenshots of his Payoneer account. He writes book summaries for an European company from the comfort of his house.
I know other people in that same line of side hustle doing anything from $2,000 and above a month. Biko, press calculator, then come back let's reason if driving a cab up and down Lagos is a side hustle. worth your time and energy.

Guys, being an e-hailing driver is not a job. No one builds a career as an e-hailing driver. I did it for 2 years, but I can't place it in my CV. See e-hailing as a means to an end, not as an end in itself.

I was driving a corolla 2004 a month back but had to return it to the owner because of the many issues it was having. The last being that the brakes failed.
Now, the owner bought the car Nigerian used for 1.25m with the odometer reading at its last which is 299999 (yea I know, right) anyways, when he told me about it and I took a look at it, I had my doubts the car would be a smooth ride on the platform but I still took it because I like trying things out before concluding.
Fast forward two weeks after putting the car on the platform and driving for just one week I noticed the car shorts oil which i mentioned this to the owner and managed it again for another week where it develop another issue. This time the issue had to do with the noise coming from the adjuster. I took the car to the client who then decided to change the engine and after engine change everything was smooth except for increased fuel consumption which was due to the fact that the car on idle mode read 2000rpm.
I took it back to him and the mechanic adjusted it and everything was fine. Though, prior to the change of engine the hub of the car, as I was made to understand by his mecahnic needed changing because it caused a loud wooing sound when I am on 60kmph and was somehow uncomfortable for riders but I totally ignored that.
The pattern became a week on, 4 days off at the workshop because a lot of issues were just coming up. Now the car started developing a fault where it goes off when I am on the move, that I have to shift to neutral while in motion to start the car again. Though God helped me all the times it stopped that I didn't have issues or accidents. I reported it to the owner who got it fixed by changing the remote box and fuse controller or something like that.
This change seemed to work for a while but later started again until God helped me to spot the issue that was causing it to stop through a rewire who was at shoprite trying to shop. The rewire came out from the mall and saw me trying to start the car and asked me to pop the bonnet which I did and he immediately touched somewhere on the fuse box and the car start immediately. I thanked him and he advised that the fault is an electrical issue and not something a mechanic would fix but a rewire I took his number and thanked him again. By the way, this rewire was properly dressed and seemed like someone who was making good money from his job.
While I was wondering what that rewire at shoprite must have touched to make the car start, I later realized that there was this fuse that is labeled 40 that always go hot because it was fused using a wrap of wires. All I had to do when the car stopped was removed the fuse and change the position the other way and voila! The car comes on.
The last time I drove the car was when it failed break on my way to lekki with a rider in it. Though the rider didn't know what happened but after I dropped the rider, I just jejely took the car back to the owner. I told the owner to change all the faulty parts and fix all the issues before the car can work on the platform because the car was now smooth driving after the engine change save for all those small issues that could take a man's life.
The reason for this long epistle is to give a general idea of the cars history which would enable you all make your suggestions.
The owner has fixed everything wrong with the car and done some body work as well. Repairs has cost him over 400k. Now he wants to sell the car out rightly or hire purchase.
Now my questions 1. Would it be wise to even consider this same car for hire purchase?
2. If yes, given all that has happened and the amount of money that has gone into repairs, how much can this car go for hire purchase if at all?

tojahh: After the whole bustle and hustle of driving up and down routes, I think we should consider taking a few hours rest and have quality chit chat and good laugh as we share trivails and happy moments together. This give rise to the proposed Hangout by December. Taking cognizance that some persons will/might travel gpr the Yuletide I think Sunday 15th December will be a good time for such.
The venue hasn't been decoded though but we are keen to choose a venue on the island. We will be made to individually contribute 2000 each (The breakdown of this money "Two bottles of whatever alcohol you'd take *Excluding wines and spirits* and a plate of pepper soup or Asun or friend meat).
This is an open suggestion, if we have any contributions... Then it will be highly looked into.
Freshprince91: Whenever i get into conversation with riders and they tell me Ambode's government was people's friendly, i tried to argue with them but what happened to me yesterday made me agree with them 100%. During Ambode's regime, most of these road charlatans were taken off the road except you beat the traffic light, take a clear cut BRT lane on the mainland or parked illegally, that is when you'll be arrested. There's a route from outer Marina that leads to TBS, i think the road is divided into 3 or so (left side with a BRT divider takes you to TBS while the middle lane with a ramp to ikoyi and Victoria island on the right. I used to ply the TBS route while i was working at the building construction because it was my fastest and convenient route to Obalende from Maryland (BRT terminal) and i do see cars, buses heading to TBS trail those BRT back then . So yesterday, after dropping off a rider at Broadstreet from Yaba , I headed for my usual spot, ikoyi, and a request came in from TBS when i got to Igbosere to connect Moloney . Called the rider, who told me she's heading to Dolphin estate, ikoyi. Perfect i said! Told her to walk through the TBS gate that I'll be waiting for her right at the exit gate, she said no, that she doesn't know her way around, told her to ask anyone, that she would be directed, she said i should come to the BRT terminal. If i had the premonition that the short 600 naira trip would cost me 20k and my entire day, may be i would have rejected it, after all i have made #4500 card trips as at 8am. Put on my map to navigate my way to TBS (BRT terminal) only for me to find myself on the small BRT divider i used to travel on. Got there and those LASTMA officials flagged me down and asked why i was on that lane and i told them, its the only way to TBS. They said ever since Sanwo-Olu came in, he enacted a bye-law that cars should stop plying the route, that it was meant for BRT alone and i was like, i am not new to this area even though i haven't been here in 6 months but that doesn't mean cars don't take this route to TBS and moreover ,the other lane were free and its not like i was in a hurry, if you guys wanted to arrest me for beating traffic. While i was talking, 2 Hilux vehicles came out from the white building under that bridge and took that same route i was nabbed for and they didn't say anything and i asked why ? They couldn't mutter a word before i could say Jack, one grabbed my key and asked me to come in or else, he would drive down to Olowu, Sura without me. I did all i could to settle the issue out of their office but those guys were not having any of my pleas. Immediately we got to their office, one of the LASTMA officer said so many unprintable words i didn't utter, so many lies that i couldn't defend. I made some calls and one LASTMA official my brother knew came through. After all said and done, he said they booked me already because i tried to prove stubborn and i told him how i pleaded and had to accept my undoing but none of them listened. Long story short, they made me path with 20k as minimum fine, they even asked me to go do photocopies of the payment slip. Immediately, i got my car, i just drove back home angered at what transpired between that morning and how i was sure cars ply that route but what can i do? This is a country where the powerful find every means to extort the commoners . I haven't been able to bring myself to work since 11am yesterday.
Okay, my advice. First, that small BRT Lane has been a LASTMA trap for ages, even during Governor Ambode's time. Try to avoid it and any BRT corridor next time.
Secondly, just in case you find yourself entrapped by LASTMA or CBD officials, put on your craze cap. Lock yourself inside your car. Refuse to move. Refuse to roll down your glasses. Don't look at anyone. Don't talk to anyone. Don't explain anything to anyone. Just keep staring at your steering wheel. Last last, when they see your craze is more than their own, they will signal you to move on; which was their duty anyway.
Finally, if by your carelessness, you find LASTMA officials in your car and they tell you to drive to their office, drive away from the scene first (because you need to do private business with them). They will give you directions to their office; as you go, look for a not-so-busy place to park and discuss with them like gentlemen. See a format I used once: "Gentlemen, you don't need to take me to your office. We will just end up wasting time there. I have #5,000 I can give you guys to buy lunch and drinks. I am your brother, just take the #5,000 and let me go."

Start early, I start at 6, you have 12 hours only. That's 6 to 6.
For every hour you're online you should be making at the very least 1k, preferably 1k5. So that bad as e bad, 12k in a day.
One advantage with uber is requests can come from anywhere unlike taxify where positioning is key cos proximity to rider is more emphasized. Uber also has more riders than taxify, requests are more frequent. (Numbers) Residential areas in the morning, don't miss the early morning rush, its key. People going to work, school runs etc. 6am-say 10am. 10am depending on where you are, magodo, yaba, Surulere (aguda area is especially hot), ogba aguda (ajayi road side)... These places are high population areas and people here can afford the fares. (Numbers) I don't like ikeja, can be very dry so if I find myself in ikeja I move to those surrounding areas. Island doesn't have the population but enough people here can afford it so anywhere, except VI, it can be slow in VI around this time. Dolphin is great coz it has a balance of residents and offices. Lekki, you know every here.Lagos island is also good but, it takes guts and wisdom... BE AWARE. From 4pm, ikoyi, VI, Lekki 1. If you get a long trip, sweet, if na yaba or Surulere, run back to marina and repeat as much as necessary. If na lekki (use alternative route) or Oniru, same. CLOSING.
While on a trip, be thinking in your mind of where to go wait for the next trip. I never stay in a place more than 30 minutes, if request no enter I move. NEVER enter traffic for FREE use Google maps ALWAYS before moving.
Reject trips WISELY. Some people will reject any mainland trip. I say good luck to them. Lekki to ikeja in the morning and afternoon is at least 2k5 and will take less than 1hr. That 2k5 might take you 2 trips and 2 to 3hrs to make oN the island. Factor in driving to pick up, waiting for rider, waiting for next trip etc. (Numbers) Similarly, if you're unlikely to get a trip back from there, do not take it. If you don't know the place, check maps to AND FRO then decide whether to go or not. But accept and complete trips, it increases requests that come to you as well.
Have a positive attitude, very very important. It helps in how you relate with your riders. Be professional, cheerful and polite. Doesn't mean kiss ass. Be firm too, don't be drawn into altercations. Have intelligent conversations. I'm happy to talk with a rider who wants to talk and I'm happy to be quiet too, my job is to take you from A to B, nothing more.

So what i am asking is : is it possible to complete 4 trips in 1hour /30 mins of the 15hours drive time or i shouldn't bother about the time since the offer expires by 8.59pm this night.
