This is really sad
Religion / Priest Suspended For Banning Igbo Songs In His Parish In Lagos by nkowaputa(m): 6:28am On Feb 08, 2022
The Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa Gberigbe in Ikorodu, Lagos, Rev. Fr. James Anelu, has been “suspended” for banning Igbo songs and choruses in his parish.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Alfred Martins, in a “disclaimer”, directed the priest to proceed on “an indefinite leave of absence”.

Anelu was reported to have banned Igbo songs and choruses in his parish, arguing that the excesses of Ndigbo must be contained.

It was learnt that he had angrily stopped a soul-lifting chorus during the second collection, noting that Igbos cannot keep dominating other people in his Catholic parish.

He reportedly cited the case of his Benin Diocese where Igbos dominate to the point of becoming the Bishop, allegedly claiming that the spirit of God recognises only geographical languages of the parish.

While announcing the suspension, Martins, in the letter dated February 7, said, “It has been brought to our notice that Rev Fr James Anelu, the priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa, Ikorodu, made some completely unacceptable comments about Igbo songs being sung in the Church and unsavoury remarks that do not represent the Catholic church’s position on the common brotherhood of peoples of all tribes and religions.
“For this reason, he has been asked to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence to give an opportunity for a thorough investigation of all the matters relating to his ministry on the parish. The leave of absence takes effect from Tuesday, February 8, 2021, till further notice"

Politics / Re: Fact Check: Atiku Lied About Growing Up As Orphan by nkowaputa(m): 3:20pm On Nov 21, 2018
maximunimpact:
Last Sunday the independent national electoral commission, INEC declared campaign open for candidates contesting in 2019 general election; as politicians device means of convincing electorates for votes, sometimes lies are been told which in turn generate a lot of false reports. The fact check team at Nigeriadefender.com will be monitoring the words of politicians to separate truth from lies.

Nigeria Defender recently spotted a false claim by the candidate of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar when he allegedly said he grew up as an orphan in a bid to relate well with the poor masses.

Did Atiku actually say he grew up as orphan?

Various sources reported that the former vice president said he grew up as an orphan selling firewood, according to Pulse.ng, Presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, highlighted his rags-to-riches story as he unveiled his plan to fix Nigeria if elected.

“I started out as an orphan selling firewood on the streets of Jada in Adamawa, but God, through the Nigerian state, invested in me and here I am today”, Atiku said in a 9-minute broadcast that was streamed live on Facebook.

“If Nigeria worked for me, I owe it as my duty to make sure that Nigeria also works for you,” he said.
The report was also published by thecable.ng as well as other top media houses.

Did Atiku really grow up as orphan?

According to Wikipedia, “Atiku Abubakar was born on November 25, 1946 to a Fulani trader and farmer Garba Abubakar, and his second wife, Aisha Kande, in Jada village of Adamawa State. Atiku Abubakar became the only child of his parents when his only sister died at infancy. Atiku’s father and mother divorced before his father died in 1957 and his mother remarried. Eventually, his mother died in 1984 of heart attack”.

This was also mentioned in his 2013 book titled “MY LIFE”, page 30 of the book confirmed his mother died in 1984. Atiku is about 72yrs now, this means that he was already 38yrs old when his mother passed away.

Why does it matter?

Does it really matter if Atiku grew up as orphan? Ordinarily it doesn’t matter, but it matters now because he falsely claimed it to be so. Fake news begins with a single lie and if not nipped in the bud it metamorphoses into widespread misinformation and that is why our fact check team at Nigeriadefender.com is waging a war against fake news.

Could you check the meaning of orphan?
Loss of a single parent, makes you an orphan.

NaijaCelebrity:
Professor of political economy and former presidential candidate Pat Utomi, has described Nigeria as the most miserable place to live on planet earth right now. Utomi said this when he appeared on Channels TV this morning.

He said Nigeria's unpreparedness for very important events such as the 2019 election further thrusts the nation into a state of confusion and disarray.

Please remind him what he said during the build up to the election where he said “ his standard of living was worse” now he knows what worse really means.

kingsamm:
9mobile is currently up for sale after the initial saga that led them into changing names from Etisalat to 9mobile. The scramble to acquire 9mobile, Nigeria’s fourth largest network operator, has advanced to the next stage.

10 bidders are left out of the 16 who expressed interest in the purchase. And the highest bidder will acquire 9mobile.

Here is a List of The 10 bidders of 9mobile

1. Globacom Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s second largest network operator
2. Airtel Nigeria
3. Dangote Group’s telecoms business unit
4. Alheri Engineering Limited
5. Smile Telecoms Holdings
6. Centricus Capital and Africell
7. Abraaj Capital (Based in Dubai)
8. Teleology Holdings Limited
9. The Carlyle Group
10. Africa Capital Alliance (ACA)

The 10 firms above have been pre-qualified to submit their financial bids for the acquisition of 9mobile, this will be the final process through which a winner with the highest bid submitted for 9mobile, will emerge.

9mobile, formerly Etisalat Nigeria, was put on the block early this year after it defaulted on a $1.2 billion loan from a consortium of 13 Nigerian banks. Etisalat Group the mother company in Abu Dhabi backed out leaving its Nigeria arm of business to its own fate, to survive on a new name.

The question is, who do you think should acquire 9mobile among the 10 bidders?

Source - http://www.naijatechs.com/2017/11/9mobile-is-up-for-sale.html

Anybody apart from dangote. He should not be allowed to buy the whole of Nigeria;
Cement, sugar, tomatoes, roads, refinery, telecommunication.

E.t.c
Well they sell it to themselves or the owner uses connection to get the cars back.

If you go to their auction site you'd find only Golf 3 , Volkswagen jetta, old sienna and all other sort of dead cars.
They keep the good ones and flood their website with Nigerian used scraps used for smuggling rice.

These guy's are scammers.

If you think the Nigerian government will let their citizens benefit from them in any way. You just played your self.

All the looted funds recovered by magu and his boys e.t.c where are they?.

Of course all cases die down withing 2weeks and everything goes back to normal.
We forget it ever happened

Please what is the link to their auction site.

Please don't be offended by my choice of words here because right now as type am in full tears and I hope to find my solution here.
My mun has been sick since 2006 to an unknown sickness and she is dying slowly. We have been to the best hospitals around Delta state (Ubth, Westend, Ogara. Just to mention a few) through out the time of this illness but they have been no out come or what so ever. We have visited the SCOAN on several occasions and almost all the churches around although we are roman Catholic but they have been no solution. We have also gone deep traditionally but we are really confuse right now. I have never seen something like this as am on tears now.

My mum is a devoted Christian and the best Mum Alive, but it seems God has forgotten about us. How will a good woman be on sick for so long? My dad is now feed up of the issue and I can smell it, that he has tried enough to revive her health but she wasn't married nor created like this.

My mum is a mother of 7 children and am the 1st child, I won't give up on her. I am ready to still go extra miles. We heard they are standard hospitals in jigawa so am currently doing a research on that now because this morning her breath is been ceased and she is excreting thick blood from her mouth through out the night.

Please Nairalander I will really appreciate if I can get any standard hospital here in Nigeria, or Any church that can attend to this issue or even a witch doctor because we have been to almost all the churches.

Thanks.

LUTH. Should do MRI or CT scan.
For church, visit Adoration Elele, river state.

This goes to show how far your Biafra would go,

cause you guy's are destroying public properties and threatening lives which only proves that IPOB is a violent group and the Nigeria army was sent to quell their activities in the SE, so any case you think you've got against the Nigeria army with the ICC was destroyed the moment your brothers resorted to using violence against the military

My only advice to you guys is to denounce your membership with the IPOB cause you guys are now terrorist's and every member of the IPOB would be treated as such

That's exactly the game plan. To provoke the ipob guys and then kill them, cause chaos. Before the Pyton dance, was there any burning or killing or attack on anybody?
The python dance in Aba is illegal and a deliberate act to provoke the agitated Igbos to react and that will create excuse for the military to kill as much as they want.
Unfortunately the ipob guys are falling for the trap.
Politics / Re: See Why The United Nations Will Not Interfere in this IPOB issue by nkowaputa(m): 12:10am On Sep 14, 2017
NASTYNASOSO:

You can't send police officers to quench a quasi-military camp, which is maintained by Nnamdi Kanu, who has aggressively vowed to tear apart a sovereign nation, Nigeria. Kanu made a serious mistake by parading a ragtag army; especially when you have a former General as the president, that was disrespectful.

I lived in Nigeria for more than two decades, Nigerian soldiers don't like to be disrespected; in fact, from working with soldiers in the United States (Michigan National Guard, Joint Forces Headquarters), I can tell you that, generally, soldiers don't like to be disrespected.

If someone, a civilian for that matter, maintains and parades militants (wearing a military uniform), he should not expect the government to roll in with police officers and patrol vans; he should reasonably expect army tanks.

Pursuant to the 1949 Geneva Conventions Article 3, your status changes once you start wearing an army uniform, for you have become an enemy combatant: A recognized army (the Nigerian Army, in this case) can use force to neutralize you and your fellow militants.

Let’s gaze into history here: When the 1791 "Whiskey Rebellion" happened in the United States, spearheaded by some civilians, President George Washington did not send in police officers, he brought in military tanks to quench the rebellion.

In the United States, when violence escalates, a governor, pursuant to Title 32 of the United States Code, can summon the army and their tanks to the street (didn’t you watch CNN at the height of the “Black Lives Matter movement;” didn’t you see numerous armoured personnel carrier (APC) on the street)?

Let's stop pretentiously invoking the violation of the rule of law, especially if you don't understand the rule of law and the rule of engagement. A military incursion, or rolling of tanks, into a street, in order to clear the illusion of outlaws, like Nnamdi and his cohorts, is not a violation of the rule of law, but an enforcement of the rule of law.

If Kanu is scared of a small deployment of soldiers, will he chicken out when battalions are deployed? To his supporters, we told you this: secession is not won on Facebook. Continue arguing about the violation of the rule. Listen, when hostility begins, the rule of law is suspended or amended. I hope we won't get there. Start listening.

Thanks for this. Pls show us where NK and his army wore military uniform.
