So they are going to include Lagos in Northern whatever when Nigeria breaks?

They will jump several states to lay claim on Lagos.

The ancestors are feasting on your brain Mr.
You must be a jambite. Go get some knowledge and stop posting silly memes.

SW made a deal 54 years ago with the north and the north never forgets. They plan generational not yearly and they owned Lagos waterways for years and now the new road to the port will be owned by them and you shall soon start paying a toll to use it
PoliticsRe: Igbo Need To Change Approach In Their Interaction With Other Regions. by nku5: 3:17pm On May 01, 2020
OP- North and South West have at different times targeted Igbos living in their regions to kill them in large numbers but Igbos have never carried out genocide on Yorubas and northerners in the South East. Igbos in the north and South West add value to those regions but they don't add any value to our region. Yoruba and Northern politicians insult Igbos often but Igbo politicians never insult other tribes.

South East is landlocked. And as long as SS refuse to participate in Biafra, it remains a mirage. Only the north can break away from the country without stress but they will be landlocked too and they don't like that. The SW has the brightest prospects if they are independent.
There is no tribe known as SS. Igbos in that area won't like to be a minority in a new country. It's just human nature to move in groups and they will form a union with their brethren. The Igbos in the SS are not landlocked so that issue is DOA

The North will never let the SW go because they have laid claim to the coastline of Lagos since 1966. Today they are even tightening their grip on the inland waterways. Dangote practically owns the Lagos Port terminal and the road to the Port, customs bosses have always been from the north etc. Even if they allow the Yorubas go free they won't leave Lagos for them.

Resolution passed on May 27, 1967.

WE, THE Chiefs, Elders, and Representatives of Eastern Nigeria, gathered at this Joint Meeting of the Advisory Committee of Chiefs and Elders and the Consultative Assembly, do solemnly declare as follows:

WHEREAS we have been in the vanguard of the national movement for the building of a strong, united, and prosperous Nigeria where no man will be oppressed and have devoted our efforts, talents, and resources to this end;

WHEREAS we cherish certain inalienable human rights and state obligations such as the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness; the right to acquire, possess, and defend property; the provision of security; and the establishment of good and just government based on the consent of the governed;

WHEREAS in practical demonstration of these beliefs, our people settled in other parts of Nigeria, served their country in many capacities, and contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria;

WHEREAS WE ARE LIVING WITNESSES OF INJUSTICES AND ATROCITIES COMMITTED against Eastern Nigeria, among which are the premeditated murder of over 30,000 of our innocent men, women, and children by Northern Nigerians, the calculated destruction of the property of our sons and daughters, the shameless conversion of 2,000,000 Eastern Nigerians into refugees in their own country, all this without remorse;

WHEREAS in consequence of these and other acts of discrimination and injustice, we have painfully realized that the Federation of Nigeria has failed, and has given us no protection;

WHEREAS in spite of these facts, the government and people of Eastern Nigeria have persisted in their efforts to find a practical and just solution that would preserve the continued existence of Nigeria as one corporate unit and restore peace and confidence as demonstrated by the initiative of our military governor in getting all the military leaders together at Aburi, Ghana;

WHEREAS the hopes which the Aburi Agreement engendered have proved to be misplaced and have been destroyed by a series of acts of bad faith and distortions and finally by a refusal on the part of the "Lagos Government" to implement these and other agreements notwithstanding the fact that they were freely and voluntarily entered into;

WHEREAS the Federation of Nigeria has forfeited any claim to our allegiance by these acts and by the economic, political, and diplomatic sanctions imposed against us by the so-called Federal Government;

AND WHEREAS the object of government is the good of the governed and the will of the people its ultimate sanction;

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of these and other facts and injustices, we, the Chiefs, Elders, and Representatives of all the twenty provinces of Eastern Nigeria, assembled in this Joint Meeting of the Advisory Committee of Chiefs and Elders and the Consultative Assembly, at Enugu this 27th day of May, 1967, hereby solemnly:

MANDATE His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria, to declare at the earliest practicable date Eastern Nigeria a free, sovereign, and independent state by the name and title of the REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA.
RESOLVE that the new REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA shall have the full and absolute powers of a sovereign state, and shall establish commerce, levy war, conclude peace, enter into diplomatic relations, and carry out, as of right, other sovereign responsibilities.
DIRECT that the REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA may enter into arrangement with any sovereign unit or units in what remains of Nigeria or in any part of Africa desirous of association with us for the purpose of running a common services organization and for the establishment of economic ties.
RECOMMEND that the REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA should become a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Organization of African Unity, and the United Nations Organization.
RECOMMEND the adoption of a federal constitution based on the new provincial units.
REAFFIRM His Excellency's assurance of protection for the persons, properties, and businesses of foreign nationals in our territory.
DECLARE our unqualified confidence in the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria, Lieutenant Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and assure him of our unreserved support for the way and manner he has handled the crisis in the country.
So help us God.

But the Cowards n basta-rds killed and burnt villages of Ibibio soldiers fighting for both the federal government and even the community of the 2nd in command of Biafra wasn't spared by d basta-rds cowards.
My Aunty is a living witness the IGBOs are treacherous and tribalistic to d core
Which village is that? Has it got a name? So Ibibio soldiers fighting for the Federal Govt were killed in war? Besides many Igbos were also killed for being saboteurs. The likes of Ifeajuna who was from Azikiwe's village was killed...

Its laughable the way some people reason. Even if Zik was against a secession clause, is he the reason why such a clause never got into the constitution?

Delegates and representatives from all across the 3 Region's that made up Nigeria met in London in 1958 to determine the independence constitution but someone who cannot reason with his brain says Zik, who was a delegate determined what would enter or not enter the constitution

One man decided for the Eastern, Northern and Western Region what would be in the constitution such as secession clause. How laughable

Nope. The Eastern Region Consultative Assembly comprised of Chiefs, Elders and Representatives of all the Twenty Provinces of Eastern Nigeria met on the 27th of May 1967 and agreed to form Biafra. Till today we have never heard that Ojukwu put a gun to anybody's head

Gowon heard about it and rushed to announce new states as a divide and rule tactic on the same 27th of May 1967. Gowon is a man with flaws I advise you to read up on your own

You forgot to mention the brilliant Etuk who fought in the Owerri battle for the FG. Ike Nwachukwu fought for the FG as well. Yoruba officers also fought for Biafra. These facts are not new.

The point is simple, at no point were minorities forced to be part of Biafra against their will. Them as well as igbos were massacred in the north and ran back to the East. Were there some ppl against it? Of course, even some Igbos were not in support but to claim they were forced into it is not true

Ojukwu invaded the south west and tried conquering the south south... Ojukwu massacred hundreds of civilians in the south south who rejectd Biafra...go and read history!
There was nothing like South West. Nigeria declared war on Biafra and Biafra undertook a campaign to take the war to Nigeria.

Where were the hundreds of south-south civilians killed? Which towns or villages? I hope you know there was an enquiry into these allegations by the Midwest Regional government which found no evidence of this.

Wrong

1. There were very few Yoruba soldiers in the battle of Ore. Mostly middle belt men

2. Ojukwu never invaded the south-south. It was already under his control

3. The tribes that made up non-igbo Biafrans were the backbone of that republic. Google Okokon Ndem, Paddy Davies, Effiong. Did they ever complain to anybody?

OP- The Niger-Delta identity is something the south-south people have been using as a United front against domination by the larger tribes (Igbo,Hausa and Yoruba)

It's not a complex but a way to have a voice in the Nigerian experiment. It hasn't helped them at all to be honest because they have had a 60 year alliance with the north who own most of their oil wells.

They couldn't have used your resources because the resources were worthless until they exported the cocoa to Europe to people making chocolate.

It was the British that made cocoa in the western hinterland or palm oil and rubber in the East into cash crops

They invested money in ports, forced your ancestors to plant the cocoa and made plenty of money for the British Empire.

Why can’t the British invest the same in your landlocked region? Could it be because it’s barren and erosion ravaged?

You developers always claimed you built Lagos, you always said without you Lagos would be nothing. Yet Lagos was what it was in those days because of the revenue from the Western/Mid-west Nigeria as you can clearly see from the info provided by the OP.

The British are not Father Christmas, all those resources are gotten from the west/mid-west part of Nigeria and that is what gave Lagos the required push.

So do you know any coward who fights a 3 year war of independence against a much larger opponent? Cowards do not fight at all. Anyone who is brave enough to fight someone or something mush greater than him is no coward.

Ojukwu surrendering personally so that Nigerian troops can do whatever they liked with him from shooting him dead to publicly torturing him or detaining him(if he was lucky) is something that only a very foolish person would do

Who in their right minds would offer themselves to their enemy on a platter of gold to prove bravery when they have an escape route? Only a complete idiot would do that and Ojukwu wasnt one

gidgiddy:
The Nigerian media, particularly those of the North and west, have consistently propagated a series of lies against late Biafran Warlord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, for the last 50 years since the end of the war. Some of these lies have assumed a life of their own. Im here to debunk 7 of these lies so that people may know the truth

1) That Ojukwu lost no family member in the war:

Contrary to popular belief that Ojukwu lost no relations to the war, Ojukwu lost his own brother. Ojukwus younger brother, Tom Bigger, died while fighting in the Nsukka sector of the war

2)That Ojukwu never visited the war front:
Not only did Ojukwu visit the front several times, he even personally led "operation Igwuruta" that cleared Nigerian forces from Oguta.

3)That Ojukwu forced the minorities of the Eastern Region into Biafra without Consultation:
Before Ojukwu declared Biafra, he convened the "Eastern Nigeria Consultative Forum", a body that comprised all the chiefs, provincial heads and trade union leaders of the 20 provinces that made up the old Eastern Region. They met in Enugu and voted overwhelmingly for the Eastern Region to become an independent country and mandated Ojukwu to declare Biafra. When you compare this to Nigeria which Lugard created in 1914 without even giving notice to anybody, you begin to understand the hypocrisy.

4) That Ojukwu was not senior to Gowon:
Gowon was commissioned an officer in 1956 while Ojukwu was in 1957. However, Ojukwu joined the civil service in 1955. When Ojukwu was commissioned in 1957, his commission date was backdated to 1955 to reflect when he joined the civil service. This made Ojukwu to become senior to Gowon.

5)That Ojukwu dressed like a woman to escape Biafra:
Ojukwu left Biafra via Uli Airport. Why would Ojukwu disguise himself as a woman to go an Airport in an area still under his control? Does that make any sense? Besides, people like NU Akpan, AA Madiebo and Philip Effiong have all written in their books how they escorted Ojukwu in a convoy to the Airport.

6) That Ojukwu was a coward for fleeing Biafra: The Oxford dictionary defines a coward as "a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things". Had Ojukwu wanted, he could have used his position to negotiate a top position in Gowon's government. Had Ojukwu wanted, he could taken his father millions and retired to any country in the world. Instead, Ojukwu fought a 3 year war of independence against impossible odds, against a much larger and better equiped enemy. In the end when he could not continue, he exited the scene as the alternative would have been to wait to be killed. Ojukwus bravery is in his will to declare the independence of an oppressed people and fight with for 3 years. Anyone who thinks he is a coward for not "staying back to be killed" is someone who is ignorant

7) That Ojukwu caused the war/declared war:

Ojukwu did not cause the war and he never declared any war. Contrary to the lie(s) peddled against Ojukwu, Ojukwu actually tried to prevent war. While Igbos were being killed all over Nigeria, Ojukwu appealed for calm and protected Northerners in the East. Ojukwu even risked his personal safety to meet Gowon in Ghana to prevent war by reaching an agreement. Despite Ojukwus best efforts to prevent war, Gowon still went ahead to break the Aburi agreement they signed, which left Ojukwu with no option than to declare Biafra. Throughout the war, Ojukwu travelled out for several peace meetings brokered by the international community, none of which Gowon bothered to attend. It was Gowon that caused the war by breaking the agreement they signed and it was he who declared war.
I like how you marshalled out these popular lies about Ojukwu and totally smashed them to pieces grin grin
