PoliticsRe: Who Released Awolowo From Prison: Ojukwu, Gowon Or Ironsi? by nku5: 8:34am On Dec 30, 2019
cheesy Propaganda may last for a night but truth cometh in the morning

So at the end of everything it's safe to say that Ironsi's government ordered the release of Awolowo just before he was murdered by TY Danjuma and co.

The north took power and installed Gowon as a puppet then simply continued the process of releasing Awo. Ojukwu did not recognise Gowon whose rank was far below Brigadier Ogundipe who had been intimidated by the northern soldiers and fled to the UK. Ojukwu however admired Awo and gladly released him.

You are correct

The Swiss people did not try to take other people's land by force to give them sea access

The Swiss people have been developed for centuries

Tell us what Eboes were doing before 1914

Was there any Eboe town larger than a village?

Did any non Eboe live among the Eboes before 1914??
So Biafrans left the sea they were controlling in the Eastern Region to come and capture sea in Lagos grin grin grin grin

Akintola and Ahmadu Bello were paranoid and probably schizophrenic. Their utterances were toxic and unacceptable.

The Igbo man has self development coded in his gene. Bello said that an Igbo man would want to rise from being a junior worker to a supervisor. How is that a bad trait. History will vindicate the Igbo man. Life is not boring with him. He wants to rise and update himself because he believes in his ability which is being suppressed by mediocrity. Why would anyone not want to give such an individual a chance if he is qualified and suited for the position?

You are one of those misrepresenting facts because of your personal and induced acrimony with the Igbos. You can’t spend the rest of your life fighting an unnecessary war. It will drain you bro.

The op and another poster said that Yorubas are not concerned with other ethnicities rather with what is going on in their states...even in Nairaland!! I wanted to comment but thought it was useless engaging in a meaningless argument, however when someone like you who has spent a significant amount of time on here typing and posting falsehood and provocative views then that’s bad. The same goes to other mentally disturbed posters from the south east.
You get time honestly. Anybody who wants to hate let them hate.

Ethno-National nepotism, Chauvinism and Irredentism are the ideological weapons of the anti-Federalists. [s]These characteristics are personified, historically, by Major-General Aguiyi Ironsi, the military head of state after the January 1966[/s] military coup and in the current circumstances, Major-General(retd) Muhammadu Buhari.

Both subverted the Federalism that ushered in Independence by disregarding its essence by turning Federalism on its head and making the center the focal point. Aguiyi Ironsi’s substitution of the Regions arrived at during the Independence struggles with his “group of provinces” and effectively neutralizing Federalism became the launchpad for incoming military adventurers whose past-time was tinkering with Federalism until it now has no meaning.

Wale Odeku
How many odeku did he drink before including Ironsi in this trash piece. Fight Buhari over 2023 but pls leave Igbos out of the mess you chose in 2015

Ironsi did NOT dismantle the regions. He centralised the bureaucracy. How come each region still had Regional administrators...

YAKUBU GOWON dismantled the regions and created states.

Adebayo...chai cry

tomakint:
During the discussions, I got up to go to the gents. On my way through the long corridors, I came across Adebayo in a side room, hunched over a telephone on a low stool. He was whispering into the handset and I caught snippets of the conversation.

“I shall be loyal to you Sir. Yes I suggest I go and takeover at Ibadan, until we know what has happened to Fajuyi.”

More whisperings and then I caught the words “through Badagry to Ibadan, to evade any ambush.”

He concluded the conversation by saying, “Yes Sir, I will do so tomorrow morning.” I froze in my steps. “Ah ah! Bob! Who are you talking to? I hope it was not the junior officer you had mentioned earlier you were saying ‘yes Sir’ to?”
PoliticsRe: The Shortest Route To Restructuring Of Nigeria by nku5: 4:24am On Dec 29, 2019
MetaPhysical:
Restructuring of Nigeria hangs in the hand of Southerners. It is attainable and can be realized within a very short time if the South will consider the following and adhere to it in principle and action.

1. The next President must be a Southerner. This is not negotiable. South must be ready to retake the seat of power by all means, nothing is off the table.

2. South must rally behind a single candidate with a ready-to-go implementation plan for restructure.
This candidate must be an identified activist for restructuring or secession. A pro-restructure or a pro-Biafra. A party that fields this trait will be the choice in South.

3. The VP must come from North, Benue to be precise and a proven pro-MiddleBelt activist.

4. The pair must abandon 2014 confab and return to the 1963 constitution as baseline for restructuring.

5. Only candidates that committ to restructuring or secession will be supported to victory in the national elections to NASS.

6. Any candidate that fails to make restructuring its campaign mantra will be ignored and not given recognition on social media.

7. Southerners, 2023 is your chance to restructure Nigeria and break the fulani yoke forever.

8. If its not restructuring or secession we are not interested in it! Lets consciously make this our mantra.
The last President organised a national conference and was a southerner but you and your northern allies wanted him out at all costs. Almost plunged this country into civil war in 2015 just to get him out. The Tinubu you are trying to campaign for here, discredited the National conference because he had eyes on 2023. Why should anybody trust you guys now? You think people are dumb?

To amend the constitution you need a majority at the National Assembly to pull it off and the North holds a large majority there. Of course they dont want to restructure. Among other reasons, the north needs access to the sea and they have invested heavily in Lagos to ensure access and are going nowhere. The ports and inland waterways are their own now and they are not going to leave.

The only time the north agreed to talk about restructuring was when Nnamdi Kanu was in Nigeria and making them very uncomfortable. That ship has sailed. O.Y.O

Gowon appears to be the biggest liar of the year. Was he everywhere during the war? Why does he believe only his own account of the war is correct? The same lies TVC is championing believing that every account of the war from Igbo land is false. Why are people who are not victims of war claiming to know more than the victims? Was Gowon at the forefront all the time, taking records of the casualties or only given reports by his soldiers? More haunting stories of the war will soon emerge. Those afraid of the truth shall be hurt. I think Gowon is enjoying the eevil forest called Nigeria? He should be regretting over the killings of his people occasioned by the fulanis. Can Gowon and TY Danjuma save Plateau and Taraba states today? Everyday he uses his dead relatives to appease the evill deity called Nigeria.
Guilty conscience is disturbing the man that's why he keeps on making all these ridiculous statements and telling silly lies

Let's be sincere. Infrastructure wise, GEJ was a monumental failure as far SE is concerned.

I don't think there's anymore strategic road other than Enugu-Onitsha, yet for 5yrs of GEJ, and unprecedented inflow of petrodollars, it was a eyesore.

I passed Umuya stretch a few days ago and found myself saying a silent prayer for PMB. What would take close to 30mins aching gallops and dust inhalation (those familiar know what I'm talking about), I breezed through the newly asphalted road in less than 5 mins.

Just that PMB too dey fall hand sometimes. . .
GEJ actually did a lot for the SW and the North infrastructurally because they were on his neck from day one. We still got an International Airport and he not only approved the Second Niger Bridge but put enough funds down to build the thing through the NSIA.

Pls lets put sentiment aside as we are returning home this season. kindly take a look at the work that Buhari has done so far in Igbo land and report here. Its an infrastructural assessment.

1. For me i observe serious reconstruction of roads from Umuahia to Enugu,

2. Another serious road work ongoing from Enugu to Anambra.

3. Serious work on second Nigeria is going on too.

Jonathan spent almost six years in power without working seriously on these projects but Buhari came and today we can see big progress being made on the various projects.
Pls nobody should abuse the president here pls. Just comment decently. thanks.

i will post more as i travel from one part of Igbo land to the other
My guy the FG is supposed to fix roads. So patch-patch work on just two roads is supposed to impress ndi igbo and cover all the demonic wickedness that devil from Daura has poured on us? No FG investment of any type, no inclusion in the rail network, Python dance, militarization of the SE etc

You are all not getting it. When you have a bad president you will try to replace him with anything replaceable, that’s why it’s called democracy coz you have to choose between one of two devil.

However people that chose Buhari can argue that considering the level of change we need in the political space, a Buhari will be the perfect option. Let me give few reasons:

1. On Boko Haram: Buhari has a history of dealing with terrorist as manifested in the Maistese (spell check) terrorists which he conquered coupled with the fact that he was a military general. People will naturally believe Buhari will solve the Boko issue and give the people of the NE peace.

2. On corruption: Buhari has a pedigree as an incorruptible statesman, no one has ever accused him of corruption and to the general Nigerians he is as pure as gold. Also, Buhari has a history of dealing with corrupt people as manifested in his military government. Hence people will think Buhari will solve the problem.

3. On lost of discipline in the civil service. Most government parastatals are behaving like clowns such that most agency of government are not remitting what they should. We have Federal parastatals where people don’t come to work and chose to go to their personal business instead. With Buhari and his history of War against Indiscipline (WAI), people thought the general will bring some form of sanity to the civil service. Which explains why his first few month in office saw people talking about body language.

I can actually go on and on.

PoliticsGbajabiamila: Better To Be Rubber Stamp Than Fight Executive by nku5(op): 5:38am On Dec 24, 2019
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said the National Assembly will rather be a rubber stamp for the progress of the country than fight the executive arm of government.

Gbajabiamila spoke on Sunday during a meeting with members of his constituency in Surulere, Lagos State.

The event, tagged, ‘2019 End of the Year Grassroots Empowerment Programme,’ was attended by residents, members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Different gifts and equipment, including financial donations, were presented to the constituents, who turned out in large numbers.

The Speaker thanked the crowd for supporting him, promising to do more for them by rehabilitating schools and building more roads and health centres.

Gbajabiamila, while reacting to the allegation of becoming an appendage of the executive, said the decisions of the 9th Assembly were in the interest of Nigerians.

He said, “People, critics and members of other parties have said the 9th Assembly is a rubber stamp of the executive. They may have told you that, too. You know what? It is better to be a rubber stamp and bring progress, than fight the executive without progress. When two elephants fight, the grass suffers.

“The fact is that the National Assembly is not a rubber stamp. This is a National Assembly that represents the interests of the people .The people of Surulere did not elect me to fight the executive, but to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to bring the dividends of democracy.

“This is a new dispensation. There will be checks and balances. There will be separation of powers. We will agree with the executive if we have to and we will disagree if we have to. Our watchword is to protect the interests of the Nigerian people. That is the oath that my colleagues and I swore to.”

He noted that the lawmakers had returned the budget cycle to January to December with the 2020 budget, adding that the development would increase economic activities and give enough time for budget implementation.

The Speaker explained that in the last 20 years, it was the first time that the country would be running a January to December budget, saying it would restore the confidence of investors.

Gbajabiamila also said the closure of the border by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), had started yielding results.

“I am sure so many farmers are now laughing all the way to the bank. The volume of Christmas rice sales made by Nigerian farmers speaks to the emerging culture of eating what we grow,” he added.
