NiCurious: Some problems solve themselves, if you just stand back with your hands in your pockets, and don't give yourself high blood pressure over them. Where is the problem? Do you have one? Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean And so, between the two of them, they licked the platter clean. |

The name Femi and Nairalanders. . . I wish I had not mentioned (almost 6 to 10 years ago) it's one of the most common male Yoruba names? I didn't know that was news to some Nigerians who were unfamiliar with other parts of the country. |

What's going on with English language students in Nigeria?
Also, I baked a nairaland cake once, 5+ years ago, I'll post the pictures when I locate them (nothing fancy). It's amazing there are millions of users here but no single image of a nairaland cake. No appreciation.
You people just come here, talk blah blah yada yada, that's it. No acknowledgement of Nairaland platform except to insult the place 24/7. |

victorian: Don't worry.
I didn't disgrace my mother during my teenage and adult years. And I hearken to her warnings and advices
My children too will Listen to me, when I give them stern warning about sex, drugs, stealing and other bad vices in the society.
I didn't kill my mum with grief, my own won't be different.
So don't worry. This is between me and them, when they are growing up. Especially the girls. These days, every parent has to have a strong mind, given the internet. And mums back then do exaggerate, none of them didn't handle their daughters' dating and whatever. It was just cautionary tales. The offspring(!) are the ones who should be careful for themselves because of the many risks of casual sex and so on. |

Most Nigerian tribes don't give generational lands to daughters including Yoruba. So far, it's only calabar people that I know that does that. You can prove me wrong, I don't know it all. Inheritance wouldn't include generational lands in my opinion, only whatever is acquired directly through parents' own efforts and labour. That's why I am not in support of Nigerians waiting for inheritance before they can prosper. It helps no doubt but looks somehow. There are some ancient African laws where husband/wife inheritance is fixed or guaranteed for a certain number of years, but I'm not sure it applies in Nigeria. |
