I think one important area which causes conflict, is applying the standards of your own culture, to other people who are only familiar with theirs.

To what extent can or should church leaders be responsible for happenings among church members?

forgotten experiences
Explain and give more details please, so we don't assume all "forgotten experiences" are negative, or have anything to do with us.

If they do, we need to know.
Romance › Re: Have You Noticed That Other Tribes Don't Marry Yoruba Girls by nlPoster:
Asegzy:
I just noticed that guys from other tribes don't marry Yoruba girls.
Even Yoruba guys intermarry with other tribes.

Why is this so? undecided
The intermarriage rate has increased in the last decades.

Before, it wasn't that common although it did happen.

Yoruba women tend to be very traditional, that could explain why they weren't ok with marrying outside. And also why other tribes did not seek them to marry.

It's possible as an internal diaspora gets of marriageable age, they feel comfortable marrying among their hosts, so younger generations of Nigerians from other tribes who grew up in the sw, might be marrying Yoruba women due to some level of familiarity with the culture, which could also be why such marriages increased over the past one or two decades.
Romance › Re: Why Do Bonny Men Rarely Marry Yoruba Girls? by nlPoster: 4:20pm On Sep 26, 2019
Are they supposed to marry Yoruba girls? And why?

Christianity Etc › Re: Did William Shakespeare Really Exist? by nlPoster:
Are there any discussions or readings of Shakespeare on nairaland?

That is more important than this question (and topic), in my opinion.

I read the complete works of Shakespeare in elementary or was it secondary school, till now I have not seen any Nigerian under a particular age who I can discuss with.

Romance › Re: Recent Upsurge Of Female Hate Threads by nlPoster: 4:06pm On Sep 26, 2019
Your thread title is misleading btw.

"Recent upsurge of female hate threads" implies either females are opening hate threads as defined by the parameters I listed above, or there has been another increase in hate threads targeting females.

One person having a beef and calling out people who offended her, does not qualify for your thread title, unless you just want to shut her up.

Romance › Re: Recent Upsurge Of Female Hate Threads by nlPoster:
I saw one of the threads, s/he called out people who offended him or her, seems they have a beef with themselves.

Hate speech is when you incite hatred on an entire group of people, for some reason, there are certain nairalanders who feel they are justified doing so to the female gender for example.

Like when you say "Women are evil, parasites, w.hores, worthless, etc etc" and sometimes follow up these statements with instances where you or someone (who you might not even know) had what you consider a bad experience with your girlfriend or a woman.

Did MsGhost use derogatory, hateful, abusive and threatening language on a group of people on the basis of gender or some other such parameter?

Or did she have a beef with specific people who she called out and detailed exactly what they did? Did she use abusive language for groups they are a part of? Or she insulted they themselves?

Just because some of you are proponents of hate speech, doesn't mean you should try to label others as being what you are, which is hateful.

The other (younger) Nigerians on nairaland are busy talking about their travails with women, wives etc in romance and family sections and raining curses and insults on them. Or just generally acting stupid.

While the older leaders are helping them clean the dirty gutters.

Then we complain "when we were in primary school, we were told we're the leaders of tomorrow, years later where are the promises".
