A closer look at the question: In what way did the sons of God taking wives lead to the corruption of the earth and humankind?

the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
The bolded shows the sons of God did not chose carefully, but rather did so indiscriminately, thus their offspring were mighty and renowned but lacking something important in their upbringing which their fathers could have passed down to them despite being human.

The fathers chose based on earthly desires instead of wisdom or God's guidance, and they did so generally instead of specifically. Sounds like they rushed their decisions as well.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Does Genesis 6 Vs 1-4 Really Mean ?? by nlPoster: 9:27pm On Dec 07, 2019
Jesus the son of God did not marry.

In what way did the sons of God taking wives lead to the corruption of the earth and humankind?

I think this would happen if the offspring mentioned, replaced the giants from before.

the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Why did the emergence of the mighty men not harbour good things for the earth but rather the opposite? Wickedness increased, likewise corruption multiplied. In my opinion, this sounds like something was missing, possibly the sons of God or original giants who went extinct/became powerless.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Does Genesis 6 Vs 1-4 Really Mean ?? by nlPoster:
Looking at the phrase "Sons of God"

-Jesus is referred to as "Son of God"

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?
- In Genesis 6, men began to multiply on earth, and daughters were born to them. These daughters of men married the sons of God and their offspring were renowned, competing in size and competency with the previous giants (it's unclear if these giants were the same as the sons of God).

- Who were the two sets of giants in Gen 6:4? The verse specifies the giants before "those days" Then the giants afterwards. Are the "after" giants the offspring of the sons of God and daughters of men, or is the verse saying there were still giants despite the the changes? This would mean giants (either physical or by reputation) were co existing with (and perhaps later displaced by) the offspring of the sons of God and human females.

- Let's say the sons of God were in charge of maintaining order in the ancient society. After they were displaced, the levels of wickedness rose to such heights that change was inevitable. (Their) authority was transferred to people who were incapable of right judgement, leading to societal destruction.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time
This happens in the absence of righteous judgement, no checks and balances.

- Were the sons of God a different race from humans and went extinct later on? Assuming they are not angels, why are there none today? Were they present during the flood or had they all vanished by then?

-Does the following verse seem to indicate the sons of God are angels?

. . .the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Angels are spirits, humans are flesh, does this verse show angelic activity versus human limitations? Or is it referring to the sons of God being sidelined after they took human wives indiscriminately?
Christianity Etc › Re: What Does Genesis 6 Vs 1-4 Really Mean ?? by nlPoster:
Some commonly held assumptions about these verses:

-the sons of God were angels

- angels married human ladies

-giants on earth were the result of these associations

-these "angels" were punished for the "sin"

What the verses actually say (and do not say):

-sons of God were not referred to as angels

-sons of God interacted with humans

-there were giants before this

-the verses do not expressly indicate these "sons of God" were angels.

stick to the issue at hand

i am always amazed at the hypocrisy of NLers like yourself... but then again, i know your type. everytime that i stand for Nigerian women, you and others will be quick to claim that its "all in a bid to get likes/favors from women on here" and when i write something against Nigerian women, then you and the same hypocrites will now turn around and claim its all misogyny.

when there was a thread about WHY AFRICANS DONT SETTLE FOR SINGLE MOTHERS (www.nairaland.com/5522883/why-africans-not-like-settle) and i was debating with EVERYONE telling them that there was nothing wrong with single mothers. where was your hypocrite self then?!

when there was a thread about a dude CONFUSED ABOUT DATING A SINGLE MOTHER (www.nairaland.com/5564707/im-state-dilemma-what#84626287) and i was telling him to just go with the flow and get to know the babe etc, where was your hypocrite self then?!

when there was a thread about TEACHING SINGLE ONES ABOUT MARRIAGE (www.nairaland.com/5557813/married-romancelanders-pls-teach-us#84504665) and i was writing about women in/and marriage, where was your hypocrite self then?!

or better yet, when in that same thread, some deluded man wrote rubbish about women in marriage, and i fully stood against what he posted (www.nairaland.com/5557813/married-romancelanders-pls-teach-us/1#84564691), where was your hypocrite self then?!

since you seem to be following me around and always trying to write about BS nonsense about me, let me help you:
- i stand for men and i stand against men... it all depends on the subject at hand.
- i stand for women and i stand against women... it all depends on the subject at hand.
- i stand for marriage and i stand against marriage... it all depends on the subject at hand.
- i will ALWAYS stand against: rapist, pedos, religion, cheating, polithieves, yahoo-yahoo. criminals, juju

good morning to you too...
I did not wish you good morning, so that is irrelevant.

As per you asking me why I did not post on those threads dear to you, there are 5,305,755 topics on nl, I cant read or post on all of them even if I wanted to.

Should you have any discussion where you feel my contribution and opinion is needed, do not hesitate to bring it or them to my notice (without the snide attitutde/remarks/theatrics/histrionics and without rudely demanding I do so).

My question to you is, you rant a lot about housewives, do you really not know any women who are working, or why are you so bitter? huh

And why exactly do you spend so much time on nairaland ranting about women?

I quoted you without reading most of your post. I might do that later. I just scanned through your detailed comment.

yes, in my world, it is viewed as dysfunctional to have an able bodied adult stay home and do nothing while daddy slaves away and kids are at school all day. a world where getting a job is seen as completely normal for a wife and where mothers only get 1 year off as maternity leave and need to get back to making money anyway.......but hey, in order for me not to repeat myself, i will post the below again:

begrudged mindset... really?! lol ok then.

if society and/or women dont see anything wrong with such, then dont you believe that there is something REALLY wrong with that same society/women or anyone who think its ok for children to have no emotional bond with their parents?!

bwaaaah! so because i dont live in Nigeria thats your reasoning for dismissing what i wrote?!?!?!?!?!
stop assuming rubbish... it makes an ASS out of U and ME.

if you believe that A) i dont know Nigerian women or B) what i wrote was that Nigerian women are good for nothing (aka insulting most of the women in my entire family), then you might never get my point. everywhere i go around the world (Nigeria included), i meet/deal with Nigerian women....are you also claiming that because i only go to Nigeria for shorter periods (ever since my earliest childhood memories), i know nothing about Nigerian women? where are all the Nigerian women that i meet from?! another planet?!

but let us not derail this thread.... YES i believe Nigerian families are dysfunctional, and no matter how much people are gonna say that it may be right to many, i dont see it that way... and thats my opinion on the subject.
Do you really not know any women who work?

Many of your posts on nl are rants about housewives. Your bitterness is amazing.

So, also for their own people who dwell in another town which he or she is not indigenous to.
Perhaps in your own understanding.

Ara is a general word, these distinctions you make are unknown in most places. Since ara also means "includes", I seriously doubt what you're saying.

Check the title of the following thread:

Ara wa means ourselves.

Ãrá:

rẹ́:
Meaning: be friendly together

Most Yoruba words have more than one meaning depending on context.

Ara also means wonder, among other things.

olabrinks:
This is not about who is right or wrong, I’m simply correcting your statement that the responsibility of falling pregnant falls solely on the woman. Of course we know that the man can simply walk away if he wants, because biology doesn’t allow a man to carry the pregnancy. How can a woman leave her pregnancy, when she’s carrying it everywhere she goes? Biologically she’s unable to do that na, c’mon we are not kids here. This doesn’t negate the fact that both adults were equally responsible for producing that child during conception. And there’s nothing rare about getting pregnant with condoms, birth control pills, postinor or using all methods of contraception. My husband and I still got pregnant using two methods of contraception. Are we now going to say it’s solely my fault for getting pregnant, when both of us decided to lay down which we knew had consequences? and It happens on a daily basis. Like I said, man made products can not defeat nature. If you have sex, you can get pregnant no matter what. And that’s what I’m simply correcting you on. The only way a woman can prevent herself from getting pregnant wholeheartedly is by abstinence, and In that sense your argument would be more valid. You would be surprised how many women have gone through abortions, after failed methods of contraceptions. It’s more common that you think.
@ bolded

Let me guess, coitus interruptus (almost guaranteed to lead to pregnancy) and what else? Rhythm method which also ensures it?
Christianity Etc › Re: Your Thoughts On Nudity by nlPoster(op):
Few things to mention:

- with any topic, there is a generalized context everyone or anyone can relate with. It doesnt mean an issue being discussed, is about a particular person.

- not everyone can be comfortable with this type of discussion. Hence I strive to keep it as clear and mundane as possible, without distracting imagery or words.

- having a conversation on the forum, with someone's enemy, or someone somebody else has a problem with, is not to be interpreted as me taking sides, true it can happen but that's not what is happening now.

- my reason for opening this thread is because we cant always avoid nudity no matter how religious we are. We could try our best to avoid it, how well we do that is in God's hands.

There is no iota of doubt about being accused of being from another ethnic group but my point is that the OP's intention is to debate on behavioural pattern of Yoruba people.
He mentioned his own people, who referred to him as Yoruba when he displayed certain behaviours, correct.

After all, he didn't mention, his tribe at first on his Post
From his point of view being an internal migrant or should I say internal diasporan, he prefers his state as a general means of identification before his tribe. Its about personal preferences and context.

Secondly, he did claim, one of the two guys, spoke in his own language about a Yoruba boy who has just smoked weed which was the reason for sneezing in their front while on queue! Interestingly, the OP intention fit well for the purpose of this post, for accusation of Yoruba people and counter accusation of not being. The reason being that he did no correction of his tribe's men about his o wn tribe's identity when he was insulted of being a weed smoker from assumably from a Yoruba ethnic group because of his facial look or *uncivilized conduct*. Although, I have seen many people calling others as people of another ethnic group when these people are not but such wrong ethnic identity are often corrected ,if one is different from such ethnic or tribe's ,which is expected to had been done instantaneously by OP at the scene but mischievously, he was silent about this part.
He didn't explain what took place afterwards. His point was his kinsmen referred to him as a Yoruba boy in their language which he assumes they thought was foreign to him. Yes, they ascribed certain anti-social behaviours to Yoruba, however, I dont know if the OP shares those views, perhaps he does as you say. But I think its inconclusive.
