i cannot stop laughing at your wackiness

I guess we all need some entertainment

are you going off tangent because you have no answers to my replies to your posts

funny - a grad student blathering about peer review of conspiracy theories .

oya please tell me - as a blunt, politically incorrect person, do you spout all this white man global agenda bs to your white classmates and teachers and flatmates   cheesy
Context . . . context . . .chai na wa o. . . .

- Yes you are correct that the phrase "Peer Review" is normally used within the context of a academic research programme. . . nevertheless that is not the context I am hereby using it.

Peer review used in the context i used it implies that I am comfortable for you to refute the things i have presented by refuting BOTH my statements and/or the references presented alongside my statements . . . . jeez do i have to do everthing myself . .  grin grin grin . . . I think I need to tell your wife to ban you from the internet for a while. . .You are disgracing us . . .geeks  grin grin grin . . just kidding.

Oyb please do not disaapoint me . . . i know you are a geek but u are embarrasing me . . . grin grin grin if you continue like this, even Dayo would consider getting born again. grin grin grin

What you need to notice is that when i say something, I always do my best to back it up with references which you are free to check and refute . . .hence until you refute those references I would suggest you continue believe each and every dogma that you want . . .as for me: I AM ALL FOR PEER REVIEW.
I AM BASICALLY SAYING THAT: I AM OPEN TO PEOPLE REFUTING AND SHOWING WITH EVIDENCE WHERE AND HOW MY STATEMENTS ARE WRONG . . .  grin grin grin

PEER REVIEW DOES NOT WORK BY FIAT OR DOGMA . . . OR JUST BECAUSE YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS MY PEER AND MY REVIEWER (get it peer + review = PEER REVIEW) TO SHOW EVIDENCE OF WHERE AND HOW MY STATEMENTS ARE WRONG

Since you claim to be following my postings on nairaland . . .you would notice that I am capable of apologising whenever I realise that something i say is wrong . . . or whenever something points out an error in my statements . . . so please spare me . . .

for someone who claims to have worked in oil and gas, you are woefully ignorant . . . do you have any idea why gas is flared?
1. thank you for the compliment . . .  grin grin grin . . .cus i know i must be right for you to be ruffled.

2. Gas flaring is both a technical problem and a financial issue.

3. Let me say.

- Oil wells can contain both oil and gas within the same underground oil/gas reservoiur . . .
- The companies are faced with a problem during the extraction of the oil from the ground. The problem is that they also encounter gas as a result.
- They are then faced with the problem of either re-pumping the gas into the ground either for storage or to aid extraction of the oil (option 1)  or processing it (option 2) or expelling and burning it (option 3).
- Simple economics and technical contraist makes it obvious why they choose to go for option 3 beccause it saves them money that they would have had to spend to undertake options 1 and options 2. Hence you see, becaues they government does not force them to eliminate option 3, it means the cost they would have incurred as a result of option 1 and 2 then becomes part of their overall revenue.

So @oyb instead of throwing about insults why don't you listen and learn.

there are indigenous companies in the downstream sector - which is a completely different ball game. the only indigenous company in upstream is oando. i work  in downstream, and a lot of companies are quite simply disasters waiting to happen .
- Bros how far . . .so you are even family sef . . .sorry I would reduce my yabbing of you. Now I understand where you get the money that you are throwing around to buy those gadgets . . . . grin grin grin grin

- You are partly right and

- You are partly wrong again . . .

- Yes you are right in that the number of private companies that can do that job of Shell are not that much . . . nevertheless rome was not built in a day, hence i don't see your point.

- Within the Upstream section, the Oil and Gas companies can be divided into two:

- Operators and Marketting companies . . . Shell, Mobil and co are mostly operators and marketting companies . . . yet this does not mean we do not have Conoil, Oando.
- Oil servicing companies. . .check out companies like Oiltest (which i think is an indigenous company  grin grin grin am not 100% sure). For example there is also the company by the name of Pan-Ocean which claims to be an indigenous company in the exploration and production area (i.e upstream sector) (whether pan ocean is truly full indigenous i do not know).

Check the following link (which i stumbled upon  grin) for more companies (for either the Operators and the Oil Servicing companies) : I would have listed the companies but since I am not really sure about their ownership and areas of operation i.e. whether downstream or upstream (even though some of them sound Nigerian) hence it does not make sense for me to list those comapnies as indigenous companies (I am not comfortable presenting something that i can't defend):

http://www.nigeria-oil-gas.com/directory_of_the_nigerian_oil_&_gas_industry-33-1-2-c.html

Also the question becomes, are there enough indigenous Operators/Marketters in the upstream sector: The Answer is NO

Hence the next question becomes how are local companies supposed to survive. . .that is where the Oil Servicing companies come in: Shell and Mobil and co do not do the exploration themselves, instead they employ oil servicing companies to do the job for them. Hence all it takes is money . . .cus the expertise can be obtain via the oil servicing companies.

Notice that if I did not tell you about the fact that oil servicing companies are significantly involved in oil exploration, the probability is that most people do not know that, hence most people tend to make the mistake of thinking that operators and marketters like Shell and Mobil are the ones doing all the job. The same thing can apply to indigenous companies, in that they can hire both local and foreign oil servicing companies until there are more than enough local oil servicing companies to fill the gap and void.

Hence at the end of the day, the lesson to be learned is that Shell and Mobill and co are not indispensable cus in reality the are just operators and marketters. . . the main people that can shake the oil and gas sectors are actually the oil servicing companies of which there is still not enough indigenous companies to fill the void.

if companies like: Petronas (Malaysia) and Petrobras (of Brazil) can make it in competition against the likes of Shell and Mobil, i sincerely do not understand your need for fretting.

Keep on deceiving yourself into believing that I am a racist because:

- Why I consider Allah to be a false god and Mohammed a liar.
- I mention how Europeans have commited genocides against people of colour.
- I tell the truth about how Arabs and Europeans have stolen land and knowledge from Africans and yet have the temerity to look down on Africans.
- I choose not to be brainwashed by Western propaganda nor Arab propaganda, but instead choose to review most of the things I have been taught to believe.
- I do not accept what you accept.
- I mentioned with references how genocides has been perpetrated against Blacks by Whites.
- I mentioned how US documents showed that HIV as a virus was actually manufactured mainly as a biological weapon.
- I mentioned that King Alfred plan shows that Whites already have a plan to attack and exterminate "Black" people.
- I talked about African History.
- I mentioned that salvation has nothing to do with skin colour.
- I mentioned that those perpetrating the myth of a "White Jesus" are the ones who actually have something to hide.
- I mentioned that Allah considers "Black" to be bad and "non-black" good.
- I mentioned (with references) that Global Warming is a Scam being used to scam and hinder the development of the developing countries like Nigeria.

Am a blunt person . . . hence I would not shrink from telling you the truth even if you were my blood brother.

You can continue to believe, worship, obey and copy your Arabs and Europeans as for me I am all for only the truth. . . whether its european or arabs saying the truth or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is that Truth is all that matters.

if this is a sign of things to come as in shell, mobil, chevron etal pull out of nigeria. . .

i do not even know where to start.

oil and gas is far more capital intensive than the downstream sector, or telecomms.

nigerians , accustomed to quick returns to not have the patience to inject millions of dollars into projects that will not yield immediate returns - i am referring to prospecting for new oil fields.

there are no local nigerian firms  with the resources required.

more importantly, for all the noise about the environment etal, shell and all those other companies are western companies where there is a strong culture of defending the environment, even if they, on their own part are indifferent they have to take some steps because of their corporate image. nigerians will have no such qualms.

nigeria is fast becoming a global basketcase - firms keep pulling out, and nothing is left to fill the void.

as for the chinese. . .if you think westerners are bad. . .

good luck to anyone who buys up those facilities. if shell, with their deep pockets, have concluded that thanks to mend, continued operations are unviable, lets see who out there has the resources to run those facilities with the losses shell has been accruing
all the probems will still be there - mend, pipeline vandals, a clueless government that cannot see beyond its nose. .

shell's facilities are mostly onshore, which makes them the most vulnerable.

once, some individuals might have formed a consortium and gotten a huge bank loan - but today, the banks are running scared - they are coming to terms with the act that there is no sure thing in business

so i guess that leaves us with the chinese.
- Good points . . .

- Nevertheless the issue here is not about expecting the foreign company to be a charity (infact i don't expect them to be one). . . the issue here is increased control of local resources.

- it is the responsiblity of government to force those companies from polluting the environment in which they operate. Yet these same foreign companies have been saved millions of dollars by the laxity of government in enforcing those lawas. Yet this same Shell has the temerity to not want more control of resources by the Nigerian government. They can leave for all I care. . . others whether european or russian or asian are ready and willing to take their place.

- Oil companies are making illegal money in nigeria cus they are not playing by international rules . . . e.g. gas flaring saves them money which they ougth to be forced to spend.

- There are indigenous companies that are operating (hence this issue of capital intensity is not really totally valid) already hence its not like Shell Mobil and others are the only ones capable of doing the job . . .

- Shell did not become shell in one day . . . it took them time and money (of which there would have been profits and losses). Other countries have tried and succeeded at the increased ownership model hence I can careless about Shell's noise . . .

- I don't care if chinese are saints or not . . .bottom line is for the government to enforce local content both in employment and staff protection.

- Nigeria is more or less at the mercy of the international oil companies, hence the bottom line is that we need to reduce that dependence and hence gain more control of our resources. . . if Shell is not okay with that they can take their leave.

Folks,

I agree that the west is plundering the oil in our country but at least we still get some crumbs from them. If this is handed over to Nigerians, we are screwed, no, not screwed but f***ked. I normally don't use such graphics in explaining my point but if history is anything to go by, then we need to start praying.

Oil is responsible for a most  of what we export and main source of revenue for Nigeria, some semblance of accountability still exist today because to some levels, these companies must declare (most of it) what they export from Nigeria, thus the Nigerians in charge have no choice but to declare whatever the oil companies declare. If that disappears, ,

Nigerian history at managing anything for the sake of the Nigerian people is not at all good: Nigerian Railway, Refineries, Ajaokuta steel rolling mill, NEPA, cash crop exports, etc. I can't remember anything (not one) that has been managed well for Nigerians by those in power. I don't expect that much will be different if history is anything to go by.
- Yes you are correct . . . hence i do not want NNPC or any public agency to manage the oil wealth.

- The issue here is for Nigeria to have more control . . .over the resources where there is a joint venture between Nigeria and foreign companies/local companies.

- The issue here is reduce capital flight in our economy by ensuring that more and more Nigerian private companies participate in the money making areas of the economy.

- Notice the companies you mentioned. . . do you notice one peculiar thing about most of them :

THEY ARE MOSTLY ALL GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED EXCEPT AJAOKUTA WHICH I AM NOT EVEN SURE WHO OWNS IT SEF.

- Nitel is useless cus its government controlled.

- Globacom is competitive becuase it is private controlled.

- Having a private Nigerian company is different from a public Nigerian company hence my point still remains that Shell should be given less and less control of our resources, hence if they are not interested in the new arrangments, trust me there are other foreign companies that are interested in taking their place.

With the type of Government we have in Nigeria, any attempt to increase the domestic control of the abandoned oil areas will still lead to mismanagement, violence and death.
Wait untill the licenses are given to Nigerian citizens from other regions in the country and see how Niger-deltans will react.
From all indications it is the Chinese that may take over.
Chinese are not as accomodating as the Germans. Their CSR practise is nothing to write home about. They claim to be Communist, but their activities are more capitalist than ever. They will stop at nothing to get their investments back and make profits. Unlike the Germans,  They will simply pour in Amunitions for the Federal government to use and slaughter agitating Niger-deltans. The Mumu Federal government will accept them and use them like cows.

Anyway, let me watch and see.
Partly true and partly untrue . . .

MTN (a South African company) was fleecing Nigerians until Globalcom came unto the scene. . . and eventually force their hands into making their products more affordable.

- Hence I am not saying Nigerian government should control the oil and gas . . . i am only saying that private Nigerian companies should have more say in the Oil and Gas business in Nigeria at the expense of foreign companies.

- In the UK alone, a foreigner is hired for particular jobs if and only if the company can prove that there is no Briton that can be hired for the job. This means that Britian is trying to develop their country by restricting their jobs for their own people. So why exactly is it now a crime for Nigeria to demand to have more control over its resources.

Nigerians are also running things in the oil and gas sector so please do not give me the propaganda that everrything would go down hill. . . it would mostly go downhill if and only if it turns into a government run industry whereby incompetent Northerners start choosing to use the federal charater nonsense.

So long that it is a private sector nigerian company that has to make money, you can be sure that whether they like it or not, they would have to perform or else na die them dey be that cus.

Wait untill the licenses are given to Nigerian citizens from other regions in the country and see how Niger-deltans will react.

Europeans are capitalist . . . with genocidal history.
Germans are capitalist . . with genocidal history.

So what exactly is your point . . . kindly stop the fear mongering and debasement of Nigeria. Rome was not built in a day, hence the issue is to have more control of our resources irrespective of who is coming in to partner Nigeria in exploring and exploiting those resources.

Foreign companies are in Nigeria to make money and not to do charity however the issue in this case is that is the profit being made at the expense of Nigeria . . . if its chinese that are cheating Nigeria, I would gladly kick them out. If it is europeans i would gladly kick them out.

If Shell wants to continue to operate in Nigeria then they have to play by Nigeria's terms and not the other way round  ,  .

PoliticsRe: Shell Plans $5 Billion Sale Of Oil Fields In Nigeria by No2Atheism(m): 3:21am On Dec 21, 2009
debosky:
LONDON (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell , Europe's largest oil company, is planning to sell oilfields in Nigeria valued at up to $5 billion, the Sunday Times reported, citing sources linked to companies interested in the assets.

The newspaper said the auction comes as Nigeria prepares to impose harsher terms on foreign operators and hand greater control to domestic firms.

The oil giant, which declined to comment on the report, is the biggest and longest standing Western oil producer in Nigeria.

But production has been hampered by insecurity in the oil-rich Niger Delta, government funding shortfalls and an uncertain regulatory environment.

The report coincided with a group led by Shell pledging on Sunday to spend tens of billions of dollars developing Iraq's Majnoon supergiant oilfield over the next two decades.

The Sunday Times said it understood Shell recently launched a formal sales process overseen by Ann Pickard, head of Shell Nigeria.

Chinese state-owned oil group Sinopec had requested information, it said, and Nigeria's independent oil group Oando and London-listed Afren could also be interested.

In Beijing, Sinopec was not immediately available for comment while domestic peer CNOOC -- reported in September as being in talks with Nigeria to buy large stakes in some of Africa's richest oil blocks -- declined to comment.

Shell has switched investment from Nigeria, which supplied 16 percent of its 2008 oil production, in response to growing violence from militants and a souring of relations with the government.

This is a major development in Nigeria's oil and gas industry - what will it mean for Shell, the Nigerian economy and the new buyers?
puskin:
This is definitely not good for Nigeria 'cos other oil companies might be tempted to follow suit.
- Please explain why it is not good for nigeria . . . i would love to hear the explanation . . .

- How is it not good for our economy for us to control more of our resources. . .

- I saddens me when Africans makes statements that imply that they do not beleive that they can actually succeed at something they hire foreigners to do. . .

- Yes there is corruption in Nigeria, yet despite all the propaganda it would suprise you to note that China is more advanced than us despite going it alone. North Korea (even North Korea) is more advanced than us despite going it alone. Iran is more advanced than us despite going it alone, so please forget about Shell.

- Do you sincerely think Europeans give Africans the same kind of economic freedom that they enjoy in Africa, hence why exactly do you think its a bad thing for Shell to relinquish control over certain areas of our economy.

- Do you not think its a misnomer for a foreign company to have control of the main source of income for your country.

- Do you sincerely think they Shell gives a damn what happens to Nigeria and Nigerians, considering that their primary concerned is to maximize profit for themselves.

- Licensing is one method used by the west to fleece people of their money . . . hence I am not suprised they enjoy giving out to others.

- The important thing that needs to be considered is:

1. How do we explore.
2. How to we extract.
3. How do we transport.
4. How do we sell.
5. How do we make profit from our Oil and Gas resources.

So long as there are indigenous companies that can solve and answer the above 5 questions, I would gladly say good riddance to bad rubbish known as Shell.

It is not compulsory for Shell to be involved . . . before all the above point is achieved . . . hence personally I do not give a damn if Shell sells off certain assets or not.

In as much as I do not like exploitative licensing, also I do not support Shell either cus I know that they are parasites that are hell bent only on fleecing their host countries . . . apart from Shell oil locations within Nigeria, can you kindly tell me what areas of Nigeria that shell has activelly contributed to the development . . and improvement of life over the number of years that they have been in Nigeria.

In the UK, you easily see the visible involvement of companies in the day to day going ons of the country . . . yet the same cannot really be said of Nigeria.

Edit: I want to change some insulting words that i used they were not appropriate grin grin grin

I also agree that this lastest attack smells like mere call for Christmas bonus . . .  grin grin grin grin

Lets face the facts . . . :

1. Africa was doomed the day Arabs and Europeans started emigrating and taking over African lands.

2. Ancient african states were united as a family unit based on blood and cultural relations other than by military reasons.

3. Europeans balkanised African cultures and nations to form new useless countries consisting of people of varying cultures, thereby forcing together people of different and incompatible cultures that were even sometimes already at war with each other before the balkanisation of Africa.

4. Nigeria as a country would always have problems cus the cultures almalgamated by Europeans to form Nigeria were never united, infact Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis were at war prior to the British (check your history).

5. Nigeria was created for British interest and not for the interest of the people within Nigeria itself, hence it would remain as such so long as africans continue to tolerate the status quo.

6. Nigeria and any other country like it would know little peace or development until Africans decide to break up all the country boundaries and instead re-create new countries based on similar culture and ethinicity (e.g. Yorubas forming a country made up of regions from Nigeria, Benin,Togo and a few other West African states), Igbos joining with a few of their brethrens in Nigeria and Cameroun to form  a single country . . . and so on and so forth.

It is then you would realise that most of the current African leaders are being supported by the West cus the reality is that when a leader is not supported by the west then you start seeing a lot of irrational coups funded and orchestrated by the West against such a leader (Lumumba/Nkrumah and others come into mind).

7. Europeans know that there would always problem with Africa hence why they would always support maintaining the status quo, cus logic dictates that Europe cannot benefit from Africa if finds a way to get its acts together, Europe and Arabs can only benefit from Africa if Africa remains engulfed in constant strive (which would always be the case based on current dysfunctional balkanised regions of Africa known as countries).

8. Mend is a symptom of the fact that unwilling cultures have been forced together to form Nigeria. . .

9. Mend would always exist cause some people are making money from the establishment of Mend and also from the genuine discrimination against the Niger Delta people . . .whose Oil wealth is being used to develop most of Nigeria.

10. Shell/Chevron and others are parasites and have always been parasites who do not care about their host communities and hence would do anything (yes anything) to get at the oil . . . hence logic dictates that its the responsibility of the host community to ensure that those parasites are controlled and in some cases, driven out.

11. Those that have watched the Avatar Movie would notice that Nigeria and Venezuela were mentioned as places where US conducted wars why would they mention that in a movie that has to do with the future if not that its already starting to seep into the psyche of those in power that such wars might occur in future. . . that alone tells you that as far as the West is concerned, they do not mind killing Nigerians and Venezuelans so long as that gives them access to the oil . . .hence in as much as I do not support the violence being perpetrated by Mend at the same time, I support full autonomy and fiscaly federalism of each region of the country.

12. Are there criminals within Mend taking advantage of the situation - Absolutely Yes

13. Do I support the violent stance of Mend - Absolutely Not

14. The idea behind Mend i.e. self determination and self control of their own natural resource is important if each region is going to develop . . .cus lets not kid ourselves. . .Hausa/Fulani leave a little to be desired, islam has affected their reasoning and their own sedantic culture also does not help, hence they are seriously dragging the whole of Nigeria back in terms of development . . .

15. Development in nigeria can only occur if there is either full autonomy or mutual peaceful disintegration of the country . . . otherwise the reality is that Europeans and Arabs are benefitting from the current status of the country hence they would continue to do their best to support the status quo . . .

Thank goodness non of them karate kicked Zamora in the chest . . . yesterday . . . now that Referees are no longer buying Rooney diving.

ManUtd with a full squad minus Ronaldo is pure useless and average . . . even now that there is no Tevez to run around like a bulldog.

Sauron is in hiding for now . . . just wait till he comes and starts giving every excuse in the book . . .

- Soon we would hear that its probably the lack of a good deal in copenhagen that caused the problem.

Signorina:
Despite the increase in the HIV?AIDS infection people still don't care they wont listen. I have witnessed that out of 100 people who do the test, we get up to 30 people with it. Lots of people are so eager to share it. Can't we stay without sex? Abstinence! Abstinence!! Please!!!. I saw a little baby who is just 3months old down with the virus, got it from mum who got it from Dad. It's so pathetic! Once people know they have it they will love to spread it to others. In the medical wards especially male ward, half of the patients are HIV patients!!! Looking so bony.
Am telling you abstinence is the only solution . . .cus in reality Condoms are unrealiable and infact reports shows that some people have been caugth intentionally sabotaging condoms.

Hence the question is that how do you know the condom you are using is not compromised.

Even if the condom is not compromised, how do you know that it would stop HIV, why play russian roulette with your life when you can do your best to abstain.

My advice is always that: if he really loves you he would wait and not touch you.

If a lady pesters you to have sex with her, then you need to be careful cus it means she either lacks self control or she is trying to pass something on to you (e.g. HIV) or she is trying to place the responsibility for a pregnancy unto you.

Either way. . . abstinence is still the best solution . . .

Berbatov should have come to Arsenal instead . . .his playing style does not suit ManUtd . . . he is a ball player and not a bulldog style of player . ,

Veron was a ball player . . . and hence always had issues with manutd. . .
