Wow!!! Want to share this great news with you guys. My parents' visas have been approved. They applied on the 1st of February (Visiting visa) Need them to come help me out while i write my exams as Oga has gone back to Nigeria.

Secondly, i got a school fees waiver. I paid the same amount as a Canadian student. The University gave me the privilege and what it means is that i must maintain great grades to keep enjoying the privilege. God is too good. I am so excited.

I got mail for passport submission, my course duration is 2 years, but my passport have less than a year Validity.. do i need to get another passport? Because i saw on the mail that my passport needs to be valid throughout

Please quickly get a new passport if not, your trv will only last the validity of your passport.

Hello Nairaland Family! Been awhile I visited. Congrats to Bigfido, and to those who got their PPR and jobs.

I have had 3 weeks of lectures and it is not beans. Been immersed in my books, especially in my statistics course where 98% of the terms are new to me. While everyone in my class has a basic knowledge of the course and is progressing fast, I have to deal with my insufficient knowledge of the course. Enrolled my humble self in a virtual class , paid some cool dollars for it and I am making significant progress and will gradually get there before my first test on the course.I have obtained at least 4 degrees in Nigeria,, yet I was not taught all these. It is well with Nigerian Education.

Started driving here and it has been very helpful especially with taking the children to the Daycare and bringing them back home. We also got some discounts. Government is paying the bulk of the money while we pay the lesser fraction . Oga is preparing to leave for Naija. *sobs* . Hoping and praying my parents get their visas so they can help me out with this school runs as I have tests and assignments almost every week.

Not going to get a job now because I can't cope with job/school/home now. Until I have a support. I am hardly online these days but you are all in my heart.

NB: This shouldn't stop you from coming with your child/children. You too will be fine.

Goodday all. I'm a newbie here, getting my documents together so I can shoot my shot, hopefully by April/May! Please i would like gurus in the house to put me through applying for visa with an infant with US passport. Do i apply alone, and just state in my Sop that she's a baby i need to go with her. Do i apply with her, since she's a US citizen and doesn't require a visa, will I submit her passport and do medicals for her. Please those who have gone through this should put me through, read different views in previous threads. Thanks. Cc Nogen #it will end in praise.

Been very busy with school and home front. I may not be able to attend to PMS now. You must let them know you are going with your child even though he doesn't need a visa. Put aside about 6k dollars for his upkeep and show that he will be taken care of. Also, try and get him a Daycare before you apply. Google Daycare centres near the University you are going to and write them. One or two would accept him. I did medical for me children and included their medical forms in my application. They have been living in Nigeria for more than 6 months. Never ever hide him and then surface at the PIE with him. You could be sent back. They have all your info at the POE. All the best!


NB: I don't review SOPs for now because I don't have access to Internet except the one on my phone. Also, classes have started and it is not easy I must say! I'm back people with yet another of my recent experience with career advancement in Canada. So you guys remember me telling you all how I got two jobs and was spoilt for choice over which to pick. Well to refresh those that may have forgotten I chose the big firm (even though the position was temporary and entry level hourly operator while the other was permanent ,full time but for a smaller firm) because I believed it had better prospects for career growth.

Well I took my humble pie and resumed for the hourly operator job on 2nd January and we were all placed on a 3day orientation and training program. It went on like that up until Thurs when something dramatic happened. After we have been dispersed to head to our various departments, as I was waiting in the lobby with my other colleagues for our department rep, I was approached by the operations manager who asked if I could spare him 5mins of my time. I obliged and he took me to a meeting room and we were immediately joined by another manager. I sensed I was going to be interviewed again, so I quickly psyched myself. The operations manager started by telling me he needed a new group manager in his department as one of his guys just got promoted and moved to another location and he feels I can fill that position. The next 30-45mins was a grilling but yet refreshing interview where I was mainly asked competency based questions that required I relate my answers very well to my past experiences (which all came from Nigeria).

Afterwards I left the interview feeling like what just happened and went back to join the rest of my hourly operator crew only for the heads upstairs to send for me again after like 30mins. When I came up this time, the operations manager was there to receive me and then he told me there is someone he will like me to meet. This time it was the overall Plant manager who is the top boss in the Edmonton plant. I almost froze to the floor but then as omo naija my head quickly correct . After a firm handshake with the Plant manager I was taken to a larger conference room just me and him. Then he started interviewing me again. As usual I kept relating my answers to past work experiences from Nigeria. In the end he thanked me and encouraged me to keep developing myself especially in the new job I was being offered as they strictly apply meritocracy in career advancement in d organization.

I closed from work that still perplexed at how fast my fortunes are about to change. I got home and was still narrating the whole ordeal to my wife when I got a call from the operations manager that I have got the job and if I'm willing to accept the offer. I answered in the affirmative. Then he asked me to come into the plant the next day(we were billed to attend a safety training off-site as the hourly operators) as I need to sign a new offer letter and start immediately on the new management position I was offered.


So people that was how I started the year/week as a floor staff but ended the week as a first-line manager. The purpose of my sharing this story is not to in any way pride in my efforts because I owe everything I am to God but to encourage someone/anyone who can dare to believe in the impossible. Yes miracles still do happen. It's not by he that runneth but on the Lord that showeth mercy. Be courageous my fellow naija Canadians. Go out there and claim what's yours!

I have a foldable triple stroller- "Mercury by Obaby"
The life of tourist parents....lolz...we were vacationing in London with our twins and their younger sister and we had left Lagos with a twin buggie but on getting to London, my wife shared work and I was detailed to use baby carrier to carry my last baby which took a toll on my back, it wasnt funny with that London waka! ..

I hit the net and got the triple foldable obaby with a seller in Surrey, I told her I'd come down to pick it and she was like all the way from London, I told her she can't understand . I hit the train station and got the stuff.

It was a life saver during those vacation weeks. We came back to Lagos with the twin and triple buggies and I have not had use for them since. I won't prolly need it for any next trip (which will most likely be our Canny landing journey ) as my last baby's grown enough to walk by herself now. Someone else have picked the twin stroller while I still have the triple one here and I had wanted to dispose it for sometime now but nobody was interested in buying it off me...Triple buggie users are rare.

For car seats, we used an Airport shuttle to the hotel( The hotel is in another city) It's about 2 hrs from the airport. We booked online and had the opportunity to rent 3 car seats from the Transport company. Are you coming to Québec too? Google Aeronavette

Please did u use triple stroller or travel system ? I will be landing in March and worried about airport connection and all. I will be travelling with my husband and my 3 year old and 1 year old triplets. In addition how did you get car seats for them to use between airport and your hotel ?

Thanks. We used a twin stroller and managed with that. It was extremely difficult to buy a triplet stroller. But you still have time. Quickly order for one through amazon and get it sent to you from any relative or shipper in the US or Canada . In 2 or 3 weeks, you will have it.

Congrats to those who recently got their TRVs. Those who were refused, it's not a denial. Repackage and refire. All the very best to you all. For me, I would be starting classes today. Take care all!

Not seems, definitely is!! Quebec is much cheaper, especially compared to the West Coast. When I visited Montreal, I was shocked by how cheap food was. Sherbrooke will probably be cheaper.

How's the winter over there?

Very cold but seems better than some provinces according to weather updates on the news.

Hello Beautiful Nairaland Family!
We finally moved into our new apartment yesterday. My Angel and his wife ensured we enjoyed our first night here. First, he came with his car on the 31st and picked our 10 suitcases to the apartment. Then, on the 1st, he came for us and conveyed us to the house .

As shops were closed, we couldn't buy some basic things like Duvet. While my husband and I were unpacking, I quickly made 'Nsala' soup, that's white soup with dry fish and also made some eba. Kai!, I didn't know my children have missed swallow like this o. We all dived into the food and by force, all the running nose and cold vanished.

The caretaker stopped by. He left so many things for free for us; plates, drinking glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, tea cups, forks, a cooking pot, a frying pot, and some food . I was like, no , that's too much. He said, you guys need them to settle in comfortably , later you can begin to buy yours. But for now, it's a gift from me to you guys .

Then, we bought the fridge, cooker, washing machine and dryer as well as TV from him at a great price. He used to stay in the apartment.

Few hours later, my Angel came with a big sack of duvet, bedspreads, blankets, pillow cases from his wife to us. The wife made a pot of white rice, chicken stew and a plate of fried plantain. Then added a chilled bottle of wine and a packet of juice for the children. I was like woooow! They said, we know you guys can easily buy these stuffs but today, shops are closed till 2nd or even 3rd. We can't be here and watch you suffer in this cold without basic things of life! Before I forget, he also gave us a small heater to use in the bedroom because according to them, it will take a while for the apartment to heat up as we would like considering we are coming from a tropical region. So, a small heater in the room would be handy.

Walahi, if that guy didn't bring that heater along, I am 101 % sure, we would have run back to the hotel because aside the bedroom we slept in, other rooms are freezing cold.

He then asked us to prepare our list so he would take us to where we would buy them since his wife is busy with the kids. He would be available to do that today and tomorrow before my classes start on the 4th.

When he left, I started crying. My husband said something to me. It is always good to also give because we never know when we will be given back in return. 2 weeks before we left, I started giving out all the things my children used, from cars seats , clothes, walkers, swings, toys, cribs to total strangers I met on social media because I advertised for people who needed any of those items to contact me. My husband was even asking me then why give out all, why couldn't I sell some of them. I said No. My spirit has asked me to give them out to people who would need them. I wasn't selling. At that point, we needed money to tidy up one or two things . I had no doubt in my mind that those items should be given out free.

So, that's my update! God bless us in all our endeavors!

Thanks my sister. There's a small community in Sherbrooke where English is their major language of communication. Amazing! If my husband decides to join us permanently, he will just go get a job there. It's about 15 Minutes drive from the house. Have figured all that out. He will also try to learn French.
