Embassy reserves the right to verify the information you have given them including the said amount you have in your account. If you said you have mapped out 15m Naira for your school fees and living expenses, that said amount should be there.
Why are you bothered about removing , when you can also add more money to your account. If your account is a busy one, even if you removed 1m for something urgent and later 1.5m is returned, you shouldn't have any problem with the Embassy.

You and I know some people will just borrow money and lodge in their accounts just to print out bank statement and quickly move back the money to the owner. Embassies know about such people and that is why they embark on verification of your accounts. If you don't want them to investigate your account, don't apply. Thanks all

Hi dear. You will definitely get a daycare once you are on ground. I am speaking from personal experience. Sometimes, openings are created due to one or two children who are moving .

Also, try kijiji of the province you are going to, You will see openings in some private daycares. Leave out the Uni daycare for now. Go for private ones and I pray you get a very good one.

That the admission letter from Concordia University wasn't signed by registrar. It was the dean that signed the admission offer.

I applied for CAQ march 19th got their email that my application has been approved on 18th of April and a copy has been mailed to my address(I used home address as mailing address). it's been 3weeks now and have not received it.

My questions
1. How many days after approval did you get your mailed CAQ? Did you use home address or office address?

2. I know one can apply for TRV with the email copy of CAQ. but at the point of entry to Canada will they request for original copy?

3. Finished NYSC 2017 MAY. started working early march 2018. And I'm only submitting employment letter and ID CARD. Is that OK?

4. I have less than 50k in my personal SOA should I submit it or just go with my sponsors SOA?

Please help me address all this issue. I'm submitting my TRV this week.

Hi,log into your CAQ Account and print the soft copy, That is what you need for your TRV Application. You don't need to wait the original (Hard copy) That one is what you must keep with you at all times and would be asked from you from time to time in Quebec. All the best in your application.

I totally understand you and Nogen. My concern is I have 2 languages I speak at home with my kids. We want them fluent in Igbo, unlike these new generation parents that see native languages as "local". So we speak Igbo to the kids and English where they don't quite get what you're saying to them in Igbo. Of course they learn And communicate in English from school. Now my concern is if the French schools have a no English policy, my kids will be fluent in French from school and fluent in Igbo from home......English disappears. That's the concern I was raising at your initial post.
I wanted to know where and how they would continue English? I'm really concerned about this, if I sort out their not forgetting English, then it's French school all the way for them oh.

Your children are in English community, So they will speak English very well. You need not fear.

You see that's my concern. French is wonderful and all but my kids are American Nigerian citizens and I have a good feeling they'll abandon Canada when they're in their college age to America. So French won't do them any good there. For me, having them learn French is for efizzy things

It is not for effizy sake o. You need to understand my worries, i am in an all FRENCH environment unlike you. If i don't speak English to my children, it is BYE BYE to English. If we were in an English speaking community, I would be the first to speak French to them. Please don't ever deny your children this opportunity.

No to worry.
First of all, Kids in Canada who attend French schools outside Quebec can't forget English given that they are growing up in an English environment. Just as your kids in Nigeria go to an English speaking school but they can still speak Igbo.

And second, the Catholic French First language Schools in Ontario are strictly French from Kindergarten up to grade 6 .
English is introduced after grade 6.
By the time the kids will be ready for high school, they will be fully bilingual.
They will be fluent in both French and English.
If you want to put your kids in a French school and that you have any concern in regard with "forgetting English", I will strongly advise you to discuss with the school. They will be able to alleviate your concern.
As for me, I will tell you not to worry because your Kids will never forget English unless you live in some parts of Quebec.

Please be advised that in some jurisdictions in order to put a child in a French school, there must be an adult in the child's household who speaks French. I know for a fact that it used to be like that for public schools in Toronto 15 years ago but I don't know if this has changed now.
Here in London you can put a child in a French First language Catholic school even when no one in your home speaks French.

Nice. The Daycare where my son attends has been asking me to speak French to him at home. I told them NO. For now, the children only speak English at home. They can't afford to lose that.

You may not feel racism because blatant racism is almost none existent in Canada. I have indicated in my earlier post that I have been here for 29 years which is most of my life. And in those 29 years I had been called the n word only 2 times in as far as I can remember and a third time in the States.

I like your positive oulook of life. But, I am afraid that as times go by, you will start feeling the cumulative effect of subtle racism. I would love to talk to you in regard with the same subject 10 years from now to see if you will still ask people to leave Quebec alone.

Reason why I replied that post. Even though poster 4712A6 as never lived in Quebec, he already has a feeling that one might not reach his full potential in Quebec. This is the kind of mentality we need to avoid when moving to a western country. Iyamefa is already believing that the quebec issue might be bad enough for her to know what to expect.lol

Two days before we left, a family friend spoke so bad of Quebec that I got scared. I quickly dismissed that bad feeling and believed that I will do well here and I will be favoured. Racism is everywhere. I am yet to witness it in my life. But I have seen worse even in Nigeria. The example I cited earlier was just one of the many.

The worst 'racists' are in Nigeria. I made a Distinction/ First class in my MA in Nigeria. I began my PhD in the same department the following year. There was a vacancy for people in my area of French studies in the department that year. Some lecturers asked that I got interviewed for the post. The then HOD said over his dead body that an Igbo be given a job in the department.

You people should spare me that racism story o. I know the support I have gotten from my Quebecois lecturers here. Some even volunteered to come help me babysit during weekends before my parents came. Nobody has ever called me Niga or used derogatory terms at me. In the course I struggled with at the beginning, The Quebecois lecturer in charge went extra miles to assist me in understanding the course. Biko, everyone should leave Québec alone.

How many of us here can go to Arab countries and live like we normally do? Can you go without covering your head and all that. The Northern part of Nigeria can be used as an example.

The Quebecois have laws and they simply want immigrants to work within the confines of their laws. Simple.

Imagine some group of people protesting that they don't want Pork meat sold in shops again! Haba? The French that permitted all sorts, how are they faring? The same way we are made to follow laws of some countries when we visit, so is Quebec.

Also we have planned on replying again but now my husband liquidated part of his treasury bills to pay all tuition fees (only one year program 15000+cad)and I have also liquidated my 2.5m fixed deposit into my account, I have now to the tune of 3.4m in my personal account as my husband will transfer 600k to me also for other expenses.. Currently my hubby should be having up-to 10m in treasury bill and some other things. I have two small kids too as my home ties. My current SOP is now detailed on how we fund the account,We got the rejection February and plan replying April what is your take please.....

Thanks @blackbuddy, called the contact number for the Nigerian consulate at Ottawa. They basically reiterated your findings.....to present myself on a day of my choosing between 9am - 1pm on Tuesday - Friday and that I would get the new passport the same day.

LONG POST ALERT!!!

Hello all!!! I have been a silent follower of this thread though I have posted a few times in the past. I just felt it is important I share my landing experience so far so that people can learn from our experience. my time line follows:

1. Bought tickets October 3rd (please note not a mistake, na faith and good deal)

2. Got PPR November 8th 2017 (after 8 months of wait)

3. COPR and passport returned November 27th (I had sent out our passport November 13th).

4. Landed in Toronto 17th February with my wife and son via Ethiopian Airlines, and received by my friend who took us to his place in London (we are still in his house at the moment), Ontario. The landing procedure was a bit slow as we landed on a Saturday and the customs officials were not so fast. Because of this we couldn't get our SIN and our PR card was not processed also as we couldn't remember the friend's postal code. The customs officer we met was a nice woman, she even gave us her phone to call my friend who had been waiting outside. They didn't check our bags and she asked us to sign Goods to follow forms as I was sending food over from Naija. To cut long story short, we reached London, ON around 2:16pm as it is a 2hr drive from Toronto.

5. On Sunday 17th February, we followed my friend to his church, a white dominated church, and after the service we were introduced as first-timers, this was where our miracle began. The woman (my angel actually) that attended to us, also an immigrant (from El Salvador) happened to be an HR manager at one of the Top 5 banks in Canada and while we were talking about our induction process in church got to know that we just arrived in Canada the day before asked about our employment status and I told her we will start to look for jobs once we are settled. Well na so she told me her bank would be having a career fair for job seekers and she will want to me to attend. I was like wetin I dey do wey I no go fit go?? I don reach there self!!!

6. Monday 19th was a public holiday (Family day, please note no be only naija we like holiday o....dem get holiday pass us for here sef).

7. Tuesday, 20th February, my friend drove us to Service Canada. We got our SIN and the woman we spoke with gave us the procedure to submit address for PR card. We went from there to Scotia bank to open account and got $3000 in credit card immediately to start credit history.

8. Wednesday 21st, we went to get phones. This we did under my friend's plan as those ppl didn't want to give phone to a newcomer on plan. Well I didn't mind, I sha got iPhone 8 to pay over 24months.

9. Thursday 22nd February, I was home all through applying and reading for my CPA conversion. I had aready started this from Naija. We also got a a very good laptop at a crazy price from Kijiji, for here kijiji and Facebook market place are your friends. I know there are other good ones too! We did not really look for house as my friend said he will introduce us to a friend who is an expert at settling new comers, including house and other things.

10. Friday 23rd, I attended the TD bank Career fair and it was fun, I told my interviewer I willing to start with them but they have to know that I am more qualified than the entry level job they are recruiting for. The woman said she understands, but that if selected, I have to be patient with them because they have a 1-yr period of assessing new intakes before determining if you can move up the ladder. Come and see me as I dey speak phone wey I no say na lie. I come dey dictate when I neva even do test let alone interview. The woman said they will get back if they feel say my skills and experience allign with their available roles.

11. Saturday/Sunday, we were home applying for jobs and adjusting CV. Oh I missed out the part where the my angel said I should send her my CV so that she can fine tune it to the way TD bank likes candidate's CVs to be like. So this was the CV i took to the CF on Friday.

12. Monday, 26th I received an email that I should complete an online assessment which I did like 36 hrs later as I was visiting friends and still dropping CVs to companies and also visited Access Center for bridging programs (another story).

13. Wedneday 28th Febraury, I received a call fro TD bank HR inviting me for an interview on Friday. I called my angel immediately and she immediately sent me their interview format to use, She said I should practice many times infront of a mirror. Well I did.

14. Thursday, we went to check our first house and the agent/lanlord were very willing to give us the apartment because of the friend of my friend. The only issue was that we have to wait one month for the current tenant to vacate and for repair works to be done. For my mind, I was wondering what was there to repair, everything looks good!!!

15. Yesterday, March 2nd, I was at TD bank with 6 other candidates, infact na then I know say naija peeps dey waka. of the 7, 3 of us were Nigerians. The interview was in 4 stages, role play, group assignment, assessment and a one-one interview. At the end, I was drained but yet fulfilled in a way I couldn't explain. The HR lady told us to expect feed backs and possible appointments by next week.

16. This afternoon, my friend and I went to drop another friend who was travelling to the US and on our way back I was telling him our my confidence has dropped since the interview and I was feeling they might be calling to tell me no. See Satan!!!

As we got back home, my phone rang and it was the HR recruiter with her nice voice. She asked me what I tot about the interviews and I how tot I performed. My heart wan cut, i tot this is it, maybe they have rejected me. I told her I learnt alot and also that I am confident my skills and experience are well aligned with the role. And then I heard, WELL I AM HAPPY TO INFORM YOU THAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU A CONDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT!! I shouted!!! The thing just be like say I dey dream. I was like I neva even get house, I don get job. All the things the woman dey talk I no even hear, I was just too happy.

So my peeps, na so our tory be so far so. Na so God show say Na HIM be the REAL GOD oooo. Much as this is an entry level job, I am happy I can quickly have my CV updated with a Canadian Experience.

I pray we all have good stories to tell in this Canadian dream!!!
